Accident occurs in Cherry Township

Molly T. Desmond, 20, of Painted Post, N.Y., suffered a moderate injury in a motor vehicle accident that occurred at 5:15 p.m. Sunday on Hochberg Road in Cherry Township, Sullivan County, police said.

As Desmond was driving east on Hochberg Road, her vehicle left the roadway, overturned and struck a tree, state police at Laporte said.

Monroeton man being cited for harassment

On Wednesday, 32-year-old Timothy Joseph Johnson Jr. of Monroeton headbutted, punched and shoved a 17-year-old individual, police said.

The incident occurred at a location on Brocktown Road in Monroe Township, police said.

As a result of this incident, Johnson is being cited for harassment, state police at Towanda said.

Burglary occurs in Dushore

A burglary occurred sometime between June 7 and July 1 at a residence on Carpenter Street in Dushore, Sullivan County, police said.

Someone entered the residence and stole money belonging to a 72-year-old man, state police said.

Man charged after driving with stolen license plate in Towanda

Valentin Sitas, 56, of Canton RR1 has been charged with receiving stolen property, Towanda Borough police said.

Towanda Borough police said they pulled Sitas over Tuesday on Means Street after they noticed him driving with an expired inspection sticker and a stolen license plate.

Another vehicle that Sitas owns, which was being repaired at Canton Auto Body, also had a stolen license plate, police said.

Besides being charged with receiving stolen property, Sitas was cited for driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance, driving an uninspected vehicle, and driving with an expired registration, police said.

DUI charge

The following person was recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

James Palfreyman, 31, of Ulster, by the Towanda police, on June 5 on Elm Street in Towanda Borough. Palfreyman's blood alcohol content was .116 percent on the day of his arrest.

One-vehicle crash

DERRY TOWNSHIP - An Elysburg man was not injured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Continental Boulevard, near Hillside Drive, in Derry Township, Montour County.

State police at Milton report a 2013 Ford Explorer, driven by Joseph A. Brokus, 57, was traveling east near the intersection of Continental and Hillside when Brokus drove off the right side of the road and down an embankment, striking several trees before the vehicle came to rest in a wooded area.

Brokus was not injured and the vehicle had to be towed from the scene. Police cited the Elysburg driver for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.

Littering

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police cited Lea Richardson, 19, of 2188 Irish Valley Road, Paxinos, and Abrielle Snyder, 19, of 26 Hess St., for littering.

Officers allege that Richardson and Snyder transported a number of large bags of household waste from a home in Mount Carmel and deposited them down an embankment at the southeast area of the Transfiguration Cemetery in late March.

The citations were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Disorderly conduct

KULPMONT - Kendall L. Dennison, 23, and Lillian S. Astick, 25, both of 1130 Scott St., were cited by Kulpmont Police Patrolman David Tomtishen for disorderly conduct after neighbors heard them fighting and using profanity for several hours at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Public drunkenness in Towanda

Sequoyah Matthew Hunt, 41, of Towanda, has been charged by state police with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness relating to a July 10 incident on Railroad Street in Towanda Township.

Construction site theft in Wysox

State police are investigating a report of theft relating to an incident that occurred sometime between July 3 and July 6 at a construction site on Spencer Road in Wysox Township.

According to police, an unknown person or persons stole six rolls of wire.

Juvenile harassment charges in Warren Twp.

An 11-year-old male from Warren Center has been charged with harassment after police said he shoved a 16-year-old male victim to the ground on July 9 on Runion Road in Warren Township.

Dylan Olmstead, 21, Rome, Pa., was resentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for one month to 12 months, fines, plus costs of $300, restitution of $2,000 for the offense of Receiving Stolen Property, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Trooper Miranda Musick of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Olmstead following investigation of an incident that occurred in Windham Township in April 2012.

Kimberly Wise, 48, Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to Probation supervision for a term of 12 months, fines, plus court costs of $350, for the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor. Violations can result in incarceration. Kendra Young, 22, Towanda, Pa., charged with Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation, Young will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Young must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel; she will also lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. ATV stolen in Litchfield Twp.

An ATV was recently stolen from a property at 3319 Bumpville Road, Litchfield Township, police said.

The ATV belongs to James E. Dickensheets, 59, of Ulster, police said. The vehicle was stolen sometime between 10 p.m. on July 5 and 6 a.m. on July 6, state police said.

Later on July 6, the vehicle was recovered from a pond in the area where it was stolen from, police said.

Burglary occurs in Ridgebury Twp.

A burglary recently occurred at Jeffrey Beemer's residence at 11395 Berwick Turnpike in Ridgebury Township, police said.

The burglar or burglars stole a Taurus .38 special revolver from the residence, police said.

The burglary occurred sometime between 8 a.m. on July 1 and 3 p.m. on July 10, state police said.

Two-vehicle crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Route 61 near the area known as the Brewery Curve at approximately 7 p.m. Saturday.

Township police Patrolman Matthew Hashuga reported a 2006 Dodge Caravan, driven by Albert Walters, 53, of Shamokin, was traveling west on Center Street. After stopping at the intersection with Route 61, he pulled out and attempted to cross four lanes of traffic to turn left and travel south on Route 61.

A 2014 Dodge Caravan, driven by Marilu McGirk, 49, of Coal Township, was traveling north on Route 61 and Walters pulled out into her lane of travel, causing a collision. A front-seat passenger Walters' vehicle, Amber Jweid, of Shamokin, and McGirk, complained of injuries and both went to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital by private vehicle for treatment.

The investigation is continuing.

State police at Towanda said an 18-year-old Canton woman reported that she was raped by an unknown Hispanic male sometime between 7 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. May 21 in Bradford County.

Police said the location is "unknown."

Report investigated

State police at Towanda said they received a report of a 60-year-old Columbia Cross Roads woman being touched inappropriately by someone known to her at an unknown date/time on Laurel Lake Road in Columbia Township.

Police said an investigation is ongoing.

Theft in Smithfield Twp.

State police are investigating a report of theft by deception relating to a July 6 incident on Pinewood Hill Road in Smithfield Township.

According to police, a person deceived a victim into sending $1,275 to them as payment for a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever puppy.

The victim was then continually asked to send more money through MoneyGram, police said.

DUI charge

The following person was recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Adam Paul Yoachim, 36, of Rome, by the state police, on April 15 at the intersection of Sheshequin and Hornbrook roads in Sheshequin Township. Police say that Yoachim was under the influence of marijuana at the time.

Assault charge

SHAMOKIN - David A. Demarco, 25, of 429 W. Second St., Mount Carmel, is charged by Chief Darwin Tobias III with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. Demarco is accused of slapping a woman before grabbing her throat and pulling her hair at 9:51 a.m. Monday in the 300 block of North Vine Street. Police said Demarco threatened to kill the accuser, who reportedly suffered visible injury to her throat and left arm.

Lewd remarks

COAL TOWNSHIP - Robert Montefusco, 47, of 508 E. Spurzheim St., Shamokin, is charged by Cpl. Terry Ketchem with harassment for allegedly making lewd remarks to a woman at The Shepherd's Table soup kitchen, Oak and Chestnut streets, at 5:20 p.m. Thursday.

DUI crash

SHAMOKIN - Jennifer Ryder, 24, of 32 Sherman St., Coal Township, is charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and a summary charge of accidents involving damage to unattended property. Police said Ryder was intoxicated when she crashed a sport utility vehicle into a parked car in the 400 block of South Shamokin Street at 3:12 a.m. June 19. Open container of beer and alcohol were found inside the SUV, police said. Ryder exhibited physical signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety testing, police said. Her blood alcohol content was 0.205 percent, according to a criminal complaint.

Drug counts

SHAMOKIN - Cody Z. Horne, 20, of 221 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, is charged by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Horne is accused of possessing suboxone without a prescription and also possessing small plastic baggies, a spoon with cocaine residue and a homemade pipe allegedly used to smoke crack cocaine. The incident occurred at 8:14 p.m. June 16 during a visit to his home by county probation officers.

Underage, rubbish

SHAMOKIN - Darcey Swift, 18, of 109 W. Commerce St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for underage drinking. Dylan Sessions, 21, of 332 S. Seventh St., Shamokin, was cited for scattering rubbish in the same incident. The two were discovered in a wooded area near Rock and Spruce streets at 12:12 a.m. Tuesday. Police said Sessions admitted to scattering beer cans and glass bottles in the area, where a concrete staircase leads from Gold Street on Academy Hill to Rock Street.

Punch to face

SHAMOKIN - Joyce A. Reitz, 45, of 3821 Schwaben Creek Road, Rebuck, was cited by Patrolman William Zalinski for harassment after allegedly striking a 23-year-old man in the face in the 500 block of North Market Street at 5:39 p.m. June 28. The accuser suffered a cut to his lower lip, police said.

Dog at large

SHAMOKIN - Kelly M. Haines, 34, of 418 E. Cameron St., was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for a dog ordinance violation at 11:20 p.m. Saturday. Police said Haines allowed her dog to run at large. The canine was allegedly observed in the streets, on neighboring porches and chasing other animals.

Public intoxication

SHAMOKIN - Three area residents were cited for public drunkenness stemming from separate incidents.

Kristin L. McCormick, of 41, of 1411 W. State St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Mark Costa. She was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when she was observed at Shamokin and Shakespeare streets at 2 p.m. Friday.

Jeffery Barber, 21, of 77 Raspberry Hill, Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle. He was allegedly passed out while lying on a path between the Patsy Steps and Terrace Avenue at 6:01 p.m. July 3.

Corey Feese, 25, of 530 Bear Valley Ave., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle. He was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when observed in the 200 block of South Pearl Street at 4:18 a.m. June 20.

Obscene language

SHAMOKIN - Christopher L. Pielacha, 29, of 5521 Upper Road, Helfenstein, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for disorderly conduct. Pielacha is accused of screaming obscenities at a juvenile female and her father while at the rear of the 800 block of North Sixth Street at 11:38 p.m. July 4.

Guilty plea

SHAMOKIN - Mark Carnuccio, 42, of Coal Township, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a charge of summary harassment and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic to pay a $200 fine plus court costs. A charge of simple assault was withdrawn. Carnuccio was released from jail, where he had been held since his arrest June 17.

False reports

SHAMOKIN - Calye Goldman, 26, of 107 Nottingham Drive, Elysburg, is charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with false reports. Police said Goldman initially reported on July 11 her grandmother's vehicle was damaged by a hit-and-run driver. She provided verbal and written statements to police before allegedly confessing that she lent it to a friend who reportedly caused the damage.

Shawn Wondoloski, of 450 S. Shamokin St., reported to police that his vehicle and trailer was damaged by a hit-and-run driver on July 11, and provided vehicle information matching Goldman's grandmother's vehicle, according to a criminal complaint.

Pot charge

SHAMOKIN - Curtis Groom, 26, of 1006 N. Orange St., Shamokin, is charged by Patrolman Shane Mowery with possession of a small amount of marijuana and public drunkenness. Police said Groom admitted to being intoxicated when he was discovered at 9:22 p.m. June 19 at Market and Willow streets looking in a parked vehicle. He's accused of possessing a small cigar containing marijuana.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Marcie Anne Howerter, 34, of 338 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, is charged by Patrolman Jason Adams with retail theft for allegedly attempting to steal $73.49 in clothing and accessories from Walmart Supercenter at 4:58 p.m. June 27.

Curfew violation

SHAMOKIN - Two city males ages 16 and 15 were cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for curfew violations after they were observed near Water and Cleaver streets at 2:12 a.m. Friday.

Crash charges

COAL TOWNSHIP - Thomas A. Reed, 42, of 918 W. Spruce St., Coal Township, is charged by Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and counts of driving with a suspended license related to DUI and careless driving. Police said Reed was intoxicated when he rear-ended another vehicle at Route 61 at Hospital Road at 7:51 p.m. June 21. He exhibited physical signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety testing, police said. His blood alcohol content was found to be 0.124 percent, according to a criminal complaint.

Keys found

COAL TOWNSHIP - A set of keys was found near the Maple Avenue playground and turned over to township police at 3 p.m. Tuesday. The owner can claim them by visiting the department at 805 W. Lynn St. or by calling 570-644-0333.

Towanda man charged with possession of drug paraphernalia

Jesse Michael Gallagher, 35, of Towanda has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

The charge stems from a Jan. 22 incident at the North Towanda Dandy Mini Mart where Gallagher was in possession of a glass smoking pipe with a burnt residue and a plastic baggie containing a white residue, state police at Towanda said.

Gallagher was arraigned by Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Tuesday. He was then released on non-monetary bail. Gallagher must attend a preliminary hearing before Judge Clark on July 22.

DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Jarred Von Finkbeiner, 36, of Troy, by Pennsylvania State Police following a single motor vehicle crash that occurred at 12:35 p.m. June 1 on State Route 514, in the area of Spencer Hill Road, Granville Twp. He was also charged by police for a lane violation, a violation of "driving vehicle at safe speed," careless driving, and not wearing a properly adjusted and fastened safety seat belt system, according to court papers. According to police, his silver Dodge Ram came to final rest outside the southbound lane of State Route 514, facing east. Finkbeiner had a blood alcohol content of .24 percent, police said. According to police, he was extricated from the vehicle, and became uncooperative with EMS personnel. Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy said Finkbeiner was sent a summons by certified mail, and has a DUI court hearing scheduled for July 31 before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark.

Brandon Michael George, 22, of Montoursville, by Pennsylvania State Police following a crash that took place at approximately 3:23 p.m. April 19 on State Route 14 in South Creek Township. He was also charged by police for a lane violation and a violation of "driving vehicle at safe speed," according to court papers. In an affidavit, Trooper Steve Steransky said someone said that he saw George reposition his boxer briefs, and saw white pills fall out. George said they were prescription pills, but his statements were not consistent on what type of prescription pills they were, police said. The trooper said he asked George when he last took the prescription pills, and George's statements regarding when he last took the prescription pills were not consistent and accurate. A lab report was received indicating that George's blood contained 120 ng/ml of Alprazolam, according to an affidavit. George was sent a summons by certified mail, and is scheduled to appear in DUI Court July 31 before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark, according to Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

Jenna Lee Ashby, 28, of Milan, by Pennsylvania State Police following a two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 11:34 p.m. May 23 on Route 14 in the area of Alparon Park in Troy Township. She was also charged by police for a lane violation, careless driving, and not wearing a properly adjusted and fastened safety seat belt system, according to court papers. Trooper Christopher Schelling said he saw a blue Nissan Altima in the south lane and shoulder of Route 14, with disabling damage to its front end and a white H3 Hummer, on its passenger side in the northbound lane/shoulder. The trooper said that he interviewed the driver of the Altima at the scene, Charles Murphy, 50, no address given, who said he was traveling south on Route 14, when he saw the Hummer traveling north on Route 14 and into his lane. He said that he slowed down immediately, and tried to swerve to the right, but the Hummer hit his vehicle. The trooper asked Ashby, who was the operator of the Hummer, what happened, and she said that she must have passed out at the wheel, according to the court papers. Both Murphy and Ashby were transported to the hospital. Ashby's blood revealed a blood-alcohol content of .127 percent, according to an affidavit. Ashby was sent a summons by certified mail, and is scheduled to appear in DUI Court July 17 before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark.

Ira Ray McCartney, 35, of Milan, by Pennsylvania State Police following a crash that occurred at 11:40 p.m. May 16 on Ridgebury Road, at the intersection with Rumsey Road, in Ridgebury Township. McCartney was also charged by police with possessing a small amount of marijuana for personal use; using, or possessing with the intent to use, drug paraphernalia, namely a maroon and white-colored glass pipe with residue; a lane violation; a violation of "driving vehicle at safe speed;" careless driving; and operation of vehicle without official certificate of inspection, according to court papers. Trooper Robert Edgerton said he saw McCartney's truck stopped east of the roadway, facing east on a roadside lawn against a utility pole, where it had been driven off the roadway as a result of a crash. The trooper said a blood sample was drawn from McCartney's right arm. The blood-alcohol content result was .166 percent, and active ingredients of marijuana were detected in the blood test, according to an affidavit. His truck had an expired inspection sticker. McCartney was sent a summons by certified mail, and is scheduled to appear in DUI Court July 17 before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark of Towanda, according to Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

Wayne Gennady Gonzalez, 34, of Towanda, by the Towanda police, on June 27 on Main Street in Towanda. A blood test showed that Gonzalez's blood alcohol content was .212 percent on the day of his arrest.

He was charged by Kulpmont Chief Michael Pitcavage with possessing two syringes, a glass pipe and a piece of foil with burnt residue following a probation visit to his home May 7.

n Charges of unlawful restraint, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment were dismissed against Matt Lee Vallati, 33, of 522 W. Olive St., Mount Carmel, when the alleged victim refused to testify. Mount Carmel Patrolman Justin Stelma arrested Vallati on allegations that he assaulted a woman inside his home June 8, restrained her in a vehicle while driving to Halifax and threatened to kill her.

Run-away vehicle

COAL TOWNSHIP - A woman suffered a minor injury after attempting to stop her runaway vehicle about 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Rhonda Zagata, 38, of 843 W. Wood St., injured her arm after attempting to stop her 2001 Chevorlet Malibu that she failed to put completely in park while parking in front of her home, according to Coal Township police. Zagata attempted to jump into the vehicle, but she got her arm stuck, causing the vehicle to drag her. The vehicle then struck a parked vehicle, owned by Marianna Persing, of 483 S. Shamokin St., then careened into a large tree. Both vehicles had minor damage.

Public drunkenness

MOUNT CARMEL - Christopher R. Schultz, 27, of 236 S. Poplar St., was cited by Patrolman Jason Drumheller with public drunkenness after he was allegedly found in a highly intoxicated state and lying in the street in the 00 block of South Vine Street at 5:50 a.m. June 27.

Underage drinking

SHAMOKIN - A 17-year-old Coal Township male was cited for disorderly conduct, underage drinking and public drunkenness by Police Cpl. Jarrod Scandle. Police say he was discovered in near Sunbury and Franklin streets in an intoxicated state with several cans of beer at 6:16 a.m. June 20. The teen is accused of using obscenities toward police while taken into custody.

Vandalism

MOUNT CARMEL - Two 13-year-old Mount Carmel females were cited by Patrolman William Adamski for criminal mischief. The girls allegedly damaged flower beds along Oak Street between 2 and 3:30 a.m. June 6.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - John R. Valenskie, 37, of 325 E. Water St., was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Police say Valenskie was discovered intoxicated on a porch at 410 N. Rock St. at 12:33 a.m. July 9, and was in possession of a bottle of whiskey. Valenskie allegedly took a ladder from a garage and placed it on the roof of the home to try to get inside.

Harassment at store

MOUNT CARMEL - Police cited Thomas Crumlic, 55, of 414 S. Market St., with public drunkenness and harassment following a disturbance at 3:30 p.m. June 20 at the Puff's Tobacco Store on South Oak Street.

SHAMOKIN - Jennifer Aston, 43, of 1132 Tharp St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for harassment. She allegedly struck a man twice with a closed fist during an altercation on Walnut Street at 3:35 a.m. May 31.

Disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - Theresa L. Karim, 55, of 221 S. Oak St., was cited by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with disorderly conduct after an alleged disturbance at her residence at 12:30 a.m. July 4.

Fight in home

SHAMOKIN - Leon Fite, 32, of 250 S. Wood St., and Allen Derk, 48, of 244 S. Wood St., were both cited by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes for an alleged altercation at 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Police allege Fite slapped and pushed Derk inside Derk's home and then refused to leave. Derk allegedly struck Fite in the face.

Both men were cited for disorderly conduct while Fite also was cited for harassment after he allegedly yelled in the street and refused to leave the area after police ordered him to do so.

Two cited in fight

MOUNT CARMEL - Police cited Tara L. Brabitz, 41, of 624 Hillside Ave., Shamokin, and Shawn J. Matukaitis, 39, of 40 S. Maple St., Mount Carmel, for harassment for an alleged disturbance at Matukaitis's home at 3:30 a.m. July 6.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Daniel Vercruyssen, 36, of 311 S. Shamokin St., was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for disorderly conduct after allegedly ripping a woman's shirt during an altercation at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of South Shamokin Street.

Underage drinking

MOUNT CARMEL - Cody J. Little, 18, of 154 Montana Drive, Kulpmont, was cited by Patrolman Jason Drumheller for underage drinking following a traffic stop at 1:45 a.m. July 11 in the 00 block of North Oak Street.

DUI

STRONG - Dustin J. Murray, 19, of 505 E. Melrose St., Marion Heights, is charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski with two counts of driving under the influence and one count each of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and a summary traffic violation, driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Police say Murray was driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse at 12:19 a.m. May 23 when the vehicle was allegedly observed swerving in the northbound lanes of Route 61. A vehicle stop was initiated near the Kulpmont borough line.

Murray allegedly failed field sobriety testing, and blood testing found marijuana in his system, according to a criminal complaint. Two methadone tablets, a glass jar with suspected marijuana residue and a crushed aluminum can allegedly used as a smoking device were discovered in his car, police said.

After Murray was remanded to Montour County Prison, Danville, a subsequent search of the police vehicle turned up a bag of marijuana and a marijuana cigarette, police said.

Urine charge

MOUNT CARMEL - Heather Ann Frank, 30, of 331 N. Vine St., is charged by Chief Todd Owens with furnishing drug-free urine and tampering with physical evidence. Parole agents told police Frank attempted to submit a false urine sample during a home visit at 7 a.m. June 25.

DUI arrest

MOUNT CARMEL - Brian G. Madden, 31, of 255 W. Saylor St., is charged by Patrolman William Adamski with two counts of driving under the influence and a summary charge of careless driving.

Police say Madden was driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am that was stopped in the intersection of Second and Oak streets at 2:17 p.m. May 11. A witness reportedly took the keys from the vehicle's ignition along with Madden's wallet, and reports say Madden and a passenger were each passed out.

Madden failed field sobriety testing, police said. Blood testing found marijuana in his system, according to a criminal complaint.

Food theft

KULPMONT - Stephanie Lynn Marlow, 29, of 1333 Scott St., is charged by Chief Michael Pitcavage with retail theft. She's accused of stealing $15.75 in food from Turkey Hill, 862 Chestnut St., at 1:55 p.m. July 2.

Pot charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Abbigail Lee Seritsky, 18, of 916 Centre St., Ashland, is charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Seritsky was a passenger in a vehicle stopped at 10:19 p.m. March 13 following a traffic light violation at Third and Oak streets, according to a criminal complaint. Police say she possessed a glass smoking pipe, a marijuana grinder and less than one gram of marijuana inside her purse.

Door kicked in at Warren Twp. rental property

Between 7 p.m. on July 1 and 7 p.m. on July 2, an unknown person kicked in the door of a rental property located on Montrose Turnpike in Warren Township, belonging to Micah Chrispell, 51, of Rome, according to state police at Towanda.

Pool shot at in Orwell Twp.

A pool belonging to Leonard Wurst, 53, of LeRaysville was shot at by an unknown person between 12:30-5:30 p.m. on July 4 on Gorham Road in Orwell Township, according to state police at Towanda. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.

Copper piping stolen at rental property

An unknown person broke into a rental property at 9567 Battle Creek Rd. in Windham Twp. belonging to John Kizale, 73, of Sayre, and stole copper piping between noon on July 4 and 9 a.m. July 5 according to state police at Towanda. Truck tire punctured, beer and truck key stolen in Wilmot Twp.

Between 9:30 p.m. on July 12 and 7:30 a.m. on July 13, an unknown person punctured the tire of a pickup truck while it was parked at a residence on Quick Bends Road in Wilmot Township, belonging to Roger Sharts, 44, of Sugar Run, according to state police in Towanda.

Additionally a six-pack of Old Milwaukee beer and the truck key was stolen out of the truck. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.

Mailboxes stolen

Between the hours of 6 p.m. June 30 and 12:30 p.m. July 1. an unknown person(s) took two black mailboxes from properties within a mile stretch of one another on the western end of Austinville Road in Columbia Township, belonging to Robert Staudt, 68, of Troy, according to state police at Towanda.

Damaged mailbox

Between 3:30 p.m. June 30 and 7 p.m. July 1, an unknown person damaged one mailbox at a property on Iron Mine Road in Sylvania Borough belonging to Brian Robson, 44, of Troy, according to state police at Towanda.

Registration plate stolen

An unknown person removed a DCNR registration plate off of an ATV and then fled undetected from a property between June 1 and July 10 on Starbright Lane, belonging to Joseph Thomas, 86 of Honeybrook in Granville Township, according to state police at Towanda. Woman charged with theft

Cindy Lynn Truby, 23, of Troy, faces a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 5 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on a charge of theft by unlawful taking or disposition for an incident that occurred at 10:50 a.m. April 17 at Hillcrest Apartments in Troy, according to court papers.

The papers note that Truby took control of the purse of Lauren C. Moody, no age or address given, a home health aide, with the intent of removing the contents contained therein.

In an affidavit, Troy Police Chief Anthony Morelli said that Moody saw Truby bent over her purse, with her hand inside, and immediately confronted her. Chief Morelli said "there was nothing taken as she was caught her hand literally in the purse."

Chief Morelli interviewed Truby, who said she was reading her cousin's papers from the doctor, and when she went to get up, she moved the chair she was sitting in, which resulted in the purse falling to the floor. She said she was picking the purse up off the floor, when she was told by Moody to get out of the purse and asked to leave, which she did, according to the affidavit.

Man charged with recklessly endangering

Jason Eric Garey, 40, of Sayre, faces a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. July 29 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on a charge of recklessly endangering another person for an incident that occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m. June 17 at his residence on Myers Road in Ridgebury Township, according to court papers.

The papers note that Garey recklessly engaged in conduct which placed or may have placed Gregory VanDyke, 35, no address given, in danger of death or serious bodily injury by firing a round from a rifle in the air, within his proximity.

Wilcox said Garey was sent a summons by certified mail.

Phone taken

State police at Towanda said Jeffrey R. Walborn, 20, of Elmira, N.Y. took a 17-year-old Gillett girl's cell phone after a verbal dispute that occurred sometime between 1 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. July 1 on Route 14 in South Creek Township.

Police said charges have been filed at District Court 42-3-01.

Wallet, phone taken

State police at Towanda said Bonnie Linda Batterson, 58, of Elmira, N.Y. alleged that her wallet and cell phone were taken by Paul Douglas Bohlayer, 33, of Elmira, N.Y. at 3 a.m. July 5 in Gillett.

According to police, the items have since been returned. Batterson has since said that she wants no criminal action to be taken, due to she and Bohlayer being friends, police said.

Crash reported

State police at Towanda said a two-vehicle crash between a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Freightliner occurred recently on Springfield Road, at its intersection with Kennedy Road in Smithfield Township.

Police did not identify the drivers.

According to police, the crash occurred as the Jeep was making a left-hand turn onto Springfield Road. While the Jeep was making the turn, the Freightliner was traveling west on Springfield Road. For unknown reasons, the Jeep struck the Freightliner's front driver's side upper/lower quarter panel/front driver's side tire with its front end/front passenger quarter panel area, when attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Springfield Road, police said.

Police said the Jeep came to final rest on the northbound shoulder of Kennedy Road and the Freightliner came to final rest on the eastbound shoulder of Springfield Road.

Person injured

State police at Towanda said Evan W. Brown, 22, of Canton, had a moderate injury in a crash that occurred June 27 on Route 414 in LeRoy Township.

According to police, the crash occurred as Brown was traveling east in a Chevrolet Cobalt on Route 414, just east of VanFleet Road. While negotiating a left curve in the roadway, he lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the westbound lane of travel, and struck a ditch along the eastbound lane of travel, police said. His vehicle then continued traveling east and spun out in the wet grass, struck another ditch, and then rolled over. Police said the vehicle came to final rest in the ditch alongside the eastbound roadside, on its roof and facing west. According to police, he was partially ejected from the vehicle and was freed by non-mechanical means. Canton Volunteer Fire Department and EMS assisted at the scene.

Police said he was charged with a violation of "roadways laned for traffic."

Wheel comes loose

State police at Towanda said the front right wheel on a Dodge Grand Caravan came loose, due to broken lugs, while the driver was traveling northbound July 1 on Route 14 in South Creek Township.

Police did not identify the driver.

According to police, the driver was able to bring the vehicle to a safe stop on the eastern edge of the roadway, and was able to obtain new lugs and install them. The vehicle was driven from the scene after the minor repair was made.

Driver flees

State police at Towanda said the driver of a vehicle involved in a crash at 10:25 p.m. June 11 on Mud Creek Road, one-tenth of a mile west of Orchard Hill Road, in Troy Township, fled the scene.

According to police, the driver was traveling in an Oldsmobile Alero and negotiating a left-hand curve, when the driver lost control and struck a pole off the north side of the roadway. The vehicle came to final rest about 100 feet into a grassy field, facing the southeastern direction, police said. Police said an investigation is continuing.

No injuries

State police at Mansfield said Cameron L. Heasley of Troy was not injured in a crash that occurred at 6:25 p.m. June 15 in Bloss Township, Tioga County, Pa.

According to police, he was traveling east on Arnot Road in a Sterling water truck approximately a quarter-mile from State Route 15, and drove to the right shoulder of Arnot Road. As a result of the soft shoulder, the vehicle tipped onto its passenger side, police, said.

State police at Towanda said someone unknown removed 80 oxycodone 5 mg pills from the purse of Ronda Kimball, 53, of Columbia Cross Roads, during a medical incident sometime between 6 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. July 4 at the Kimball residence on Dubert Road in Springfield Township.

She was transported from her residence to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital in Troy, police said. Police said an investigation continues.

No one injured

State police at Towanda said Jennifer L. Smith of Troy was not injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred recently on Shaylor Drive in Springfield Township.

According to police, she was traveling northbound in a Dodge Ram in the right northbound lane of travel and was attempting to negotiate a left curve in the roadway, when she lost control on the wet, gravel-covered roadway. Her vehicle left the east shoulder of the roadway, traveled approximately 30 feet, and struck a tree down a slight embankment from the roadway, causing major damage to the front end, police said. Police said the vehicle came to rest facing northeast, approximately 20 feet from the east shoulder of the roadway. A 17-year-old passenger from Canton was not injured.

Police said she was charged with a violation of "driving vehicle at safe speed."
