Man charged in Wyalusing Twp. burglary

Jason Lee Tripp, 34, of Troy has been charged by state police with two counts of burglary and one count of criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking or disposition and criminal mischief relating to an incident that occurred between March 17, 2012 and March 24, 2012.

According to state police, Tripp stole various items from a hunting cabin located off Township Road 530 in Wyalusing Township including a Husquevarna Chain Saw, a game camera, and Bushnell binoculars.

DNA evidence in the form of two cigarette filters found at the hunting cabin were matched with Tripp's DNA, who initially denied ever being at the cabin.

Tripp was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Feb. 27 and remanded to the Bradford County Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail.

A formal arraignment is scheduled for March 20 at 8:30 a.m. at the Bradford County Courthouse in Towanda.

Man found with meth, loaded handgun in Towanda

A Wilkes-Barre man was in possession of methamphetamine and a loaded handgun when he was discovered passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle recently in Towanda, police said.

William Allen Wylie, 45, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, carrying a firearm without a license, and possession of drug paraphernalia, Towanda police said.

At approximately 3:40 a.m. on Feb. 25, two motorists had discovered Wylie passed out in his pickup truck at the intersection of U.S. Route 6 and Means Street, and had reported the incident to 911, police said.

Police and paramedics responded to the scene, police said.

As police assisted Wylie in exiting his vehicle so that he could be examined by the paramedics, they noticed a smoking device in plain view inside the vehicle, along with a lighter and a type of small container that is commonly used to store drugs, police said.

Wylie was in possession of a total of 3.75 grams of methamphetamine, which were in two containers in his vehicle, including the container found near the smoking device, police said. The smoking device also tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine, police said.

Wylie was wearing a shoulder holster, which contained the loaded handgun, police said.

A DUI charge could be also be lodged against Wylie, depending on the results of a blood test that was performed on Wylie on the night of his arrest, police said.

Wylie told police that he has a job that involves repossessing vehicles, and that he stores items from the repossessed vehicles in his own vehicle, which is why police found the drugs and smoking device in his pickup truck, according to the police.

Wylie said he carries the gun on him because of his repo job, according to the police.

Wylie was arraigned on Feb. 25 by Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark. Wylie was then sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Wylie must attend a preliminary hearing before Clark on March 5.

The Dawseys told police that they had forgotten to remove the keys from the vehicle's ignition and lock the doors of the vehicle, according to the Towanda police. The vehicle had been stolen from their driveway, police said.

Ortiz later returned the vehicle to the Dawseys, according to the Towanda police.

Ortiz was arraigned by Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Feb. 26. Ortiz was then released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Ortiz must attend a preliminary hearing on March 5 in Towanda District Court.

The incident occurred at Joslyn's residence, police said.
