MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police have released information pertaining to a one-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon at Third and Walnut streets.

Diane Sebes, 66, of Kulpmont, was operating a Pontiac Grand Am east on Third Street when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle crossed the westbound lane and struck a utility pole on the northeast corner of the intersection, police said. The vehicle sustained major front-end damage.

Sebes was transported to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police said citations are pending, including careless driving and a stop sign violation. The investigation continues.

Harassment

RANSHAW - A 14-year-old Coal Township male was charged by Patrolman Chris Lapotsky with harassment and criminal mischief for allegedly slapping and punching a 17-year-old male from Shamokin in the head and face several times at the Ranshaw playground at 2:15 p.m. March 22.

Police said the teen also poured soda and spit tobacco on the victim's coat.

The victim suffered a minor injury, police said.

Shoots foot

DALMATIA - Antonio D. Croce, of New Market, Md., suffered injuries to his second and third toe on his foot after accidentally shooting himself with a 12 gauge shotgun about 6 p.m. Saturday at the Martz Game Farm in Lower Mahanoy Township, according to state police at Stonington. No other information was available.

Theft occurs in Columbia Twp.

State police said they are trying to find out who cut a padlock and stole a number of items at a property on Fairbanks Road in Columbia Township.

The theft occurred between March 27 and April 1, state police said.

The owner of the property is a Columbia Cross Roads man, police said.

Theft occurs in Stevens Twp.

State police at Towanda said they are trying to find out who stole a license plate from a construction site on state Route 476 in Stevens Township.

Wysox woman cited for harassment

Charish Wrehn Ward, 22, of Wysox was recently cited for harassment, state police said.

The charge stems from an incident in which Ward grabbed a 25-year-old woman by the throat, punched and kicked her, and pulled her hair, police said.

The incident occurred at 11:20 a.m. on April 4 in the parking lot of the T.A.C.O. food pantry on U.S. Route 6 in Wysox Township, according to the state police at Towanda.

Theft occurs in Ulster Twp.

Someone recently stole a Craftsman automotive battery charger from the driveway of a residence on Ulster Road in Ulster Township, police said.

The battery charger belongs to a 61-year-old man, state police said.

The theft occurred between 6 p.m. on April 2 and 8 a.m. on April 3, police said.

Attempted bar burglary

COAL TOWNSHIP - Joseph V. Payne, 29, of 916 E. Chestnut St., Shamokin, has been charged by Patrolman David Sage with attempting to break into the Clubhouse Bar, 1027 E. Race St., late Sunday night.

Police reported Payne was seeking to steal metal items such as beer taps and empty beer kegs shortly before 11:30 p.m., but was observed by residents in the area who called police. While Payne was attempting to flee the area from an upper porch on the building, he fell and was taken into custody by police without incident.

Payne is accused of causing approximately $500 in damage during the attempted break-in.

He was transported to a holding cell at Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury, where he was arraigned by video Monday morning by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III. Payne was committed to the county jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Payne is charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary, criminal attempt to commit criminal trespass, criminal attempt to commit theft, loitering and prowling at night, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and possessing instruments of crime.

Coal Township police were assisted in the investigation by Shamokin police.

Harassment

COAL TOWNSHIP - A charge of harassment has been filed by Coal Township police against Michael Oregan, 25, of 1257 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, in connection with an incident at 1:20 a.m. Saturday at McDonald's along Route 61.

Police reported Oregan came to the restaurant's drive-through window on foot and was told he couldn't be served because he wasn't in a vehicle. Police said Oregan then became upset and began making racial slurs toward employee Pablo Hernandez.

Public drunkenness

COAL TOWNSHIP - Brandie Haddock, 50, of 834 W. Willow St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Joshua Wynn for public drunkenness in connection with an incident in the 900 block of West Willow Street at 12:14 a.m. Saturday.

Police said Haddock, who suffered injuries in a fall, was found intoxicated to a degree that she endangered herself. Haddock was transported to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, where she was treated and released.

DUI

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Edward Francis Ososkie, 36, of Trevorton Road, Coal Township, was arrested by Trooper Justin Rosboschil of state police at Stonington for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol involving a vehicle stop at 2:23 a.m. Sunday on Route 61 near the Sunoco Station in Shamokin Township.

Vehicle hits trees

JORDAN TOWNSHIP - Heather L. Forney, 41, of Herndon, suffered moderate injuries Friday night when her 1995 Nissan Pathfinder traveled off Hooflander Road and struck two trees near Snow Dale Road in this Northumberland County township.

State police at Stonington said Forney was driving west at 6:55 p.m. when she lost control of her vehicle while negotiating a left curve. The Pathfinder exited the road and hit a tree on the west berm. The sport utility vehicle then crossed the double yellow lines and hit another tree on the east berm before coming to rest.

Forney, who refused to take a blood test, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Additional charges also are pending against her.

Police said Forney was transported by Americus Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Code violations

COAL TOWNSHIP - George Atiyeh, of Allentown, owner of Apartments and Acquisitions LP, was cited Thursday by Code Enforcement Officer Chris Petrovich for failing to secure an occupancy permit and failing to report the status of occupancy at a property he owns at 1508 Wabash St.

Drug paraphernalia

SHAMOKIN - Brittany Brown, 23, of 1111 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, was charged by Cpl. Darwin Tobias III with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness involving an incident at 7:37 a.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of North Shamokin Street.

Police said a bent spoon with a white powdery substance was found in Brown's possession.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Bryan Primerano has charged Michael Young, 32, of 1467 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, false identification to police, driving under suspension, failure to obey traffic control devices and a lighting violation.

The charges relate to a March 17 vehicle stop on Rock Street.

Police said Young had a blood-alcohol content of .188 percent.

Theft charge

COAL TOWNSHIP - James Hill, 56, of 833 Center St., Tharptown, was charged by Detective Jeff Brennan with theft for allegedly stealing a cell phone owned by Coal Township and making $770.90 worth of unauthorized calls with it.

According to a criminal complaint, Hill was hired by Coal Township in July under the Experience Works program to perform general maintenance and labor for the township. Police said Hill was provided a cell phone owned by the township for work purposes only that included contacting the street department foreman when he completed a job so he could be taken to his next job.

Police said Hill was instructed to return the cell phone to the township at the end of each day, but he reportedly kept the phone since early December despite several attempts by township manager Rob Slaby to retrieve it.

Hill admitted to Brennan that he kept the phone and used it to make personal calls to his girlfriend.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Matthew Filarski has charged James Ortona, 48, of 880 High Road, Ashland, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, operating a vehicle without a certificate of inspection and restriction on alcoholic beverages.

The charges relate to a March 16 vehicle stop near Beaverdale.

Police said Ortona had a blood-alcohol content of .126 percent.

DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Christine Marie Wheeler, 35, of Wysox, by Athens Township police, on April 4, at routes 220 and 199 in Athens. Wheeler has also been charged with failure to keep right and careless driving. Wheeler refused a blood test to determine her blood alcohol content. Wheeler was arraigned April 5 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail. Wheeler is scheduled to appear April 15 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Cesar Padilla, 31, of Houston, Texas, by Athens Borough police, on April 6, on North Elmira Street in Athens. Padilla has also been charged with failure to keep right and driving without a valid license. Padilla agreed to submit to a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content. Padilla was arraigned April 6 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. Padilla is scheduled to appear April 15 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Waverly police make arrests

Waverly village police recently arrested the following people, according to the Waverly Police Department:

Edward A. Sherman, 47, of Barton, on April 1, for driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police said Sherman was arrested on Broad Street and was found to illegally possess 43 Alazropam pills at the time of his arrest. Sherman was arraigned in Waverly Village Court and sent to the Tioga County Jail.

Brenda M. Gochenaur, 45, no address given, on April 1, for criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police said Gochenaur was found to illegally possess a fentanyl patch. Gochenaur was released to appear in Waverly Village Court at a later date.

Veronique M. Rivera, 25, of Waverly, on March 23, for endangering the welfare of a child, following investigation into a disturbance call. Police said Rivera caused a physical altercation with a family member, placing a one-year-old child in danger. Rivera was arraigned in Waverly Village Court and was remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail.

Kevin R. Wurth, 48, of Owego, on March 26, on a bench warrant for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Wurth was arraigned in Waverly Village Court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $285 bail.

Christopher Dolan, 40, of Waverly, on March 22, for menacing, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child. Police said Dolan was arrested following investigation into a disturbance in which he is accused of holding another person against his will with a hammer in the presence of a child. Dolan was issued a ticket to appear in Waverly Village Court at a later date.

Police also cited Tom M. Ackley Jr., 27, of Waverly, for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a March 28 traffic stop on Broad Street.

Man charged with hit-and-run

A Blakely man has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton to answer charges relating to a hit-and-run auto accident.

According to information filed at Wheaton's office, David Paul Earl, 31, has been charged with accidents involving death or personal injury; tampering with physical evidence; accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property; driving on the wrong side of the road; failure to give information and render aid; and immediate notice of accident to a police department.

The charges against Earl stem from an incident that occurred on Jan. 2 on U.S. Route 6 and Homet Heights Road in Wyalusing Borough. On that date, Earl is accused of leaving the scene of an accident after his Ford F-250 pickup truck struck the rear of another vehicle which was parked along side the road.

Earl's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 6.

No injuries

No injuries were reported when a two-vehicle accident occurred recently on U.S. Route 6 in Wysox.

According to state police, Jean D. Joyce, 82, of Towanda was driving a 2004 Subaru Outback east on Route 6, when she made a left turn into the Enterprise Rent-a-Car parking lot. In the process, police said, Joyce drove her vehicle into the path of a 2006 Chevrolet Impala operated by Brian Bender, 35, of Alba, who was traveling in the opposite direction at the time. Bender applied his brakes, and was able to avoid hitting the Joyce vehicle, but in the process his car swerved to the right and struck a legally parked vehicle in the Enterprise lot.

The Impala was towed from the scene by Fulmer's Towing. Police said that Joyce will be cited for the accident.

Girl hurt in crash

A 16-year-old girl suffered minor injuries on Monday when the vehicle she was riding in left the road and struck a tree.

According to state police, Marshall Preston, 20, of Canton, was driving a 2007 Ford Focus south on state Route 2002 in Davidson Township, Sullivan County around 5:10 p.m. Riding with Preston was Stephanie Hill, 18, of Mildred, as well as an unnamed 17-year-old female juvenile and a 16-year-old female juvenile.

Police said Preston lost control of the vehicle, causing it to go off the road onto the berm and into a ditch. The Ford then rotated clockwise, causing the left rear passenger door to strike a tree.

Police were assisted at the scene by Muncy Valley and Laporte Volunteer Ambulance and Fire companies.

DUI

The following people were cited recently for driving while under the influence:

Cesar Josue Padilla, 31, of Monroeton, was also charged by Towanda police with exceeding the maximum speed limit and operating a vehicle without a license. Padilla was arrested following a traffic stop in September at the entrance of Williams Oil on Reuters Boulevard. Padilla agreed to submit to a blood test which eventually revealed that his blood alcohol content was .17 percent on the day of his arrest. Padilla was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $25,000 bail. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 16.

Raymond Edward Woodcock, 28, of Monroeton, has also been charged by state police with driving on the wrong side of the road, careless driving and failure to wear a seatbelt. Woodcock was charged following a traffic stop on U.S. Route 220 in Monroe Township. After his arrest, Woodcock agreed to submit to a blood test at Memorial Hospital which eventually revealed that his blood alcohol content was .173 percent on the day of the incident.

Woodcock has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on May 14.

Philip Eugene Frisbie, 36, of Ulster, has also been charged by state police with careless driving. Frisbie was charged following a traffic stop on state Route 2027 in Towanda Township on March 8. Following his arrest, Frisbie agreed to submit to a blood test at Memorial Hospital, which eventually revealed his blood alcohol content was .199 percent on the day of the incident. Frisbie has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on May 16.

Rebecca Lynn Lentz, 34, of Ulster, was charged with DUI following a traffic stop on state Route 2027 in Towanda Township on March 8. After her arrest, Lentz agreed to a blood draw at Memorial Hospital, which eventually revealed that her blood alcohol content was .189 percent on the day of the incident.

Lentz's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 16 before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - Richard J. White, 28, of 405 W. Pine St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief relating to a disturbance shortly before 3:30 a.m. Sunday on East Independence Street.

Police said White is accused of pulling a metal rack owned by the Dollar General store onto the ground and pushing a display item owned by Bressi & Martin onto the sidewalk.

Anthony L. Munson, 23, of 561 N. Second St., Shamokin, also was cited by Siko for public drunkenness in connection with the same incident.

One-vehicle crash

LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a crash at 6:50 p.m. Monday, in the area of Hickory Road, Lower Mahanoy Township.

State police at Stonington report a 1999 Subaru Forester, driven by Casey L. Forney, 18, of Gratz, was traveling west on Hickory Road when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole with its right front end.

After the crash, the Forester rolled over in the westbound lane and came to rest facing Northeast. Forney was not injured and was wearing his seatbelt at the time, but was cited by police for failing to maintain his vehicle on the roadway.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Levi Reigle, 22, of 1244 Chemung St., Coal Township, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for disorderly conduct in connection with an altercation at 10:53 p.m. March 28 at Independence and Ninth streets.

Criminal mischief

COAL TOWNSHIP - Shane Clements, 22, of 1101 E. Race St., reported to township police that sometime between Friday and Sunday, someone scratched the passenger side door of his 1996 Mercury while it was parked on Race Street. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police at 570-644-0333.

Urinates in public

SHAMOKIN - Kenneth K. Lamar, 57, of 315 N. Shamokin St., Apt. 3, Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Darwin Tobias III for disorderly conduct for urinating at Independence and Washington streets near the Shamokin Post Office at 1:46 a.m. March 29.

Underage drinking

SHAMOKIN - Ashley Lynn Talmadge, 19, of 1332 Johnson Mill Road, Lewisburg, was cited by Cpl. Darwin Tobias III for underage drinking and disorderly conduct for allegedly yelling and cursing at 1:27 a.m. Friday in the 300 block of North Vine Street.

Police said the disturbance annoyed neighbors.

Cited again

COAL TOWNSHIP - Thomas E. Broscius, of 1516 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, was cited again Monday and Tuesday by Code Enforcement Officer Chris Petrovich for having faulty weather protection at his home, which has several holes in its roof and rotted roof covering, which allows water to enter the building.

Broscius has been cited numerous times for the same ordinance violation.

Multiple offenses

SHAMOKIN - Jeffrey S. Luta, 41, of 3413 State Route 61, Sunbury, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with two counts each of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, and one count of public drunkenness involving a disturbance at 3:35 a.m. Sunday at Rock and Spurzheim streets.

Luta is accused of striking Michael Giliegbaurer in the back of the head and breaking his $500 headphones. He also allegedly resisted arrest during which time a wooden roof support at 409 E. Spruzheim St. was knocked over onto a police car, causing approximately $1,000 damage.

Prior to being taken into custody, police said Luta yelled at officers and challenged them to shoot him while he was standing on a porch at 409 E. Spurzheim St.

Teen threatens suicide

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Jarrod Scandle has cited a 17-year-old Shamokin male twice for disorderly conduct for threatening to jump off a third-story roof at his East Sunbury Street residence at 9:47 a.m. March 29 and 12:48 a.m. March 30.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Joseph M. Kristoff, 48, of 250 S. Pearl St., Shamokin, was charged by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with driving under the influence of alcohol, a red light violation and careless driving relating to a vehicle stop at 10:26 p.m. Saturday at Market and Lincoln streets.

Police said Kristoff refused to submit to a blood test.

Criminal mischief

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Shane Mowery has charged Joseph D. Barnes, 28, of 120 W. Willow St., Shamokin, with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct relating to a disturbance at 10 a.m. Tuesday at his home.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Barnes used a pipe bender to smash a $1,200 motor scooter owned by Angelina Raygoza, causing damage to the windshield, gas tank and handle bar area.

Police said Barnes, who was screaming and cursing, had to be told by police several times to stop her behavior while being taken into custody.

Harassment

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Lindsay Hager, of Sunbury, was cited by state police at Stonington with harassment after allegedly shoving the victim, Brittany Farnsworth, of Sunbury, at their residence at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday.

PFA violation

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Mark Costa has charged Carl Marchetti, 54, of 620 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, for violating a protection from abuse order involving an incident at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at 453 S. Shamokin St.

Police said Marchetti, who was prohibited by court order from contacting his ex-girlfriend, Michelle Miller, left several threatening and vulgar messages on her cell and land line phones.

DUI offenses

SHAMOKIN - Laura Lee Wheary, 36, of 1224 Trevorton Road, Coal Township, was charged by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving and impeding traffic by driving at a very slow speed.

The charges relate to a March 29 incident at Market and Independence streets.

Police said Wheary had a blood alcohol content of .226 percent.
