Towanda man charged with assault

Justin Larry Brown, 30, of Towanda has been charged with simple assault and harassment, police said.

The charges stem from a May 17 incident in which he repeatedly struck a woman in an apartment on Bridge Street in Towanda Borough, police said.

The victim told police that she was struck on her shoulders, back, sides, hands, face and head, Towanda police said.

The victim was treated at Memorial Hospital for her injuries, police said. She had bruising, swelling and small cuts on the left side of her face, police said.

Brown, who lives on Second Street, was arraigned by Troy Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox on May 17.

Brown was then incarcerated in the Bradford County jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Brown's preliminary hearing, which was originally scheduled for May 21 in Towanda District Court, has been postponed to Aug. 20.

Athens man charged with violating Megan's Law

Skylar James Smith, 22, of Athens has been charged with a violation of Megan's Law, police said.

Smith was required to update his sex offender registration within three business days after obtaining a new job this month in Waverly, N.Y., state police said. However, he failed to do so, state police at Towanda said.

Towanda man charged with possession of drug paraphernalia

Donald Jeffrey Roof, 52, of Towanda has been charged with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia and theft by unlawful taking or disposition, police said.

The charges stem from a May 17 incident in which Roof stole a bicycle from a residence on Dayton Road in Towanda Township, and was in possession of two hypodermic needles, state police said.

Roof, who lives on Second Street, has been sent a summons to appear before Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on June 25.

Woman charged in harassment

State police at Towanda said charges were filed against Susan Graham, 55, of Sugar Run, in District Court 42-3-01 for a harassment incident that took place at 8:15 p.m. May 26 on South Calaman Lane in Columbia Township.

Police said Graham threatened a 28-year-old Columbia Cross Roads female with bodily harm, and the woman then contacted state police about the incident.

Cup thrown

State police at Towanda are investigating an incident that took place at 3:30 p.m. May 8 in Canton Township in which someone threw a Styrofoam cup at a vehicle.

Police said a 51-year-old Canton man was traveling north on Route 14 in Canton Township as someone in a dark color truck traveling south approached his vehicle. Police said the driver in the suspect vehicle threw a Styrofoam cup at the Canton man's vehicle, causing the front windshield to crack.

Signs taken

State police at Towanda said someone took five vinyl construction signs reading "Work Area Ahead" and five aluminum stands sometime between 6 p.m. May 23 and 7:30 a.m. May 27 on Sugar Hill Road in Wilmot Township.

The signs belong to Linde Construction, police said.

DUI

The following person was recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Brooke Marie Silvers, 22, of Ulster, by the state police, on May 4, on state Route 2024 in Towanda Township. A blood test revealed that Silvers' blood alcohol content was .175 percent on the day of her arrest.

Burglaries occur in Franklin Twp.

Burglaries have occurred at two cabins on Allen's Pond Lane in Franklin Township, police said.

One or more individuals smashed windows to gain entry to the cabins and stole multiple items from inside and outside the cabins, police said.

The cabins are owned by a 69-year-old man, police said.

The burglaries occurred sometime between April 27 and May 1, police said.

State police at Towanda said they have a suspect in the case.

Towanda man charged with assault

James Todd Place, 41, of Towanda has been charged with two counts of simple assault and two counts of harassment, police said.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred Tuesday evening at the Burger King restaurant in North Towanda Township, police said.

During the incident, Place punched a woman in the face and pulled her hair, state police said.

A man who saw the assault and tried to stop it was repeatedly struck in the head by Place, police said.

Place, who lives on Railroad Street, was arraigned by Athens Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 27.

Shaw set Place's bail at $20,000.

Place must attend a preliminary hearing before Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on June 4.

Man removes items from Athens business

A Monroeton man was recently arrested by Athens Township police on a charge of theft by unlawful taking.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Paul Duane Ragan Jr., 25, was also charged with receiving stolen property.

Police said that on April 30, Ragan and another male removed 100 nuts and bolts, a fire hydrant and a valve system attached to the hydrant from Simonds Excavating on Ellistown Road. The items were valued at $3,800, police said.

Ragan was arraigned May 28 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and released from the Bradford County Jail on non-monetary bail. Ragan's preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 3.

Drug paraphernalia charge

A Towanda woman was recently charged with possession of drug paraphernalia by Sayre Borough police.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Breanna Nicole Herman, 21, was also charged with public drunkenness.

Police said Herman was found to be in possession of multiple hypodermic needles used to inject bath salts at about 1:25 a.m. May 26 while walking on Spring Street. Herman also had a warrant out for her arrest, police said.

Herman's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 1.

Registration plate stolen

State police at Towanda are investigating the theft of a registration plate from a vehicle in Ridgebury Township.

According to information from state police, a Pennsylvania registration plate bearing the number JHF0017 was removed from a vehicle on May 25 or 26 at a Bucks Creek Road residence. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.

Bank cited for false alarms

A Wyalusing bank was recently cited by state police for violation of control of alarm devices and automatic dialing devices.

According to state police at Towanda, Peoples State Bank on Route 706 was cited May 25 after state police responded to the bank for a total of four false burglary alarms. State law disallows more than three false alarms to occur in a consecutive 12-month period, police said. Charges are pending in district court, police said.

Athens man arrested

An Athens man was recently arrested by state police on a charge of failure to comply with registration requirements.

According to state police at Towanda, Skylar Smith, 22, failed to register his employment with state police within the required three business days. Smith was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and released on non-monetary bail.

Man arrested for assault

A Sayre man was recently arrested by borough police on a charge of simple assault.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, David Ashby, 44, was also charged with harassment.

Police said Ashby choked a female victim during a May 29 altercation at a Powell Street location.

Ashby was arraigned May 29 by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail. Ashby's preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 3.

Man charged with trespassing

A Sayre man was recently arrested by borough police on a charge of criminal trespassing.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Wayne Blow, 58, was also charged with disorderly conduct.

Police said Blow refused to leave the Robert Packer Hospital emergency department May 29 after being discharged from the hospital.

Blow was arraigned May 29 by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. Blow's preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 3.

DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

David Michael Watkins, 24, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough police, on May 25, on Spring Street in Sayre. Watkins has also been charged with disorderly conduct. A blood alcohol test determined that Watkins' blood alcohol content was .18 percent on the day of his arrest. Watkins has been sent a summons to appear July 1 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Corey Lee Roof, 24, of Wysox, by the state police, on May 10, at the intersection of Thomas and Fifth streets in Towanda Borough.

One-car crash

UPPER PAXTON TOWNSHIP - A Dalmatia woman was treated and released from Harrisburg Hospital following a one vehicle crash on Route 147 at 8:20 a.m. Thursday.

State police at Lykens report a 2003 Mitsubishi GS, driven by Christina Young, 37, of Dalmatia, was traveling south on Route 147 when it traveled across the northbound lane and struck a utility pole on the east side of the highway, shearing if off the ground. The vehicle hit a fence row, shrubbery and trees before stopping at a garage 150 feet from the initial impact.

Young was wearing her seat belt and the airbags in the vehicle deployed. Police said a citation for careless driving will be filed with Magisterial District Judge Rebecca Jo Margerum, of Elizabethville.

Route 147 was closed to traffic after the accident. Assisting police at the scene were members of the Millersburg fire, ambulance and fire police departments.

Scattering rubbish

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police cited John T. Howe Jr., 22, of Coal Township, for scattering rubbish after he allegedly deposited two bags of household trash in a receptacle located in the picnic area of the Springfield playground near Tioga Street.

Police remind residents the trash receptacles in that area are for people using the park and are not meant for dumping household garbage.

False alarms

MONROE TOWNSHIP - The Best Buy electronic store in Monroe Marketplace was cited by state police at Selinsgrove for having four false alarms, the last one occurring at 10:21 p.m. Thursday, within a 12-month period. The summary citation was filed with Magisterial District Judge John H. Reed, of Selinsgrove.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Juliana Zarkowski, 47, of P.O. Box 484, Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Edward Purcell with two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, one count of careless driving and two stop sign violations relating to an April 4 vehicle stop in the 1700 block of Tioga Street.

According to a criminal complaint, Zarkowski drove under the influence of diazepam, nordiazepam, alprazolam, marijuana and oxycodone and traveled through stop signs at Tioga and Hess streets and Tioga and Thomas streets.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Scott Weaver has charged Stanley M. Stanchick, 39, of 2030 Tioga St., Coal Township, with driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving and squealing tires within the city limits relating to a March 18 incident at Race and Shamokin streets.

Police said Stanchick refused a blood test and medical attention for a head injury that he claimed to have suffered in a fight.

Theft

SHAMOKIN - Donna Marie Shaffer, 37, of 44 W. Adams St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Scott Weaver with theft and retail theft.

Police reported Shaffer stole a purse belonging to an employee from behind the counter at Turkey Hill Minit Market on North Second Street May 3. She also is accused of taking cigarettes and cigars from behind the counter.

Public nuisance

SHAMOKIN - Hilcias Lantigua, 37, of 17 S. Rock St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes with causing a public nuisance and disorderly conduct by allowing her mixed breed dog to chase people around the neighborhood and bite 7-year-old Zoey Curran on the hand at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police said Lantigua was previously cited three times for not controlling her dog.

Inmate charged

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jermaine Lamont Smith, 21, an inmate at SCI-Coal Township, was charged by Trooper Mark Adams of state police at Stonington with two counts of aggravated assault, possessing a weapon for escape, possessing an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person involving a May 3 disturbance at the prison.

Police said Smith is accused of swinging a 5 1/2-inch homemade weapon at the mid-section of Correctional Officer Tammy Behney.

Inmate throws urine

COAL TOWNSHIP - Larry L. Finland, 22, an inmate at SCI-Coal Township, has been charged with throwing urine at a correctional officer and a nurse at the prison.

Finland allegedly threw a cup of urine on Correctional Officer Jared Laubach and nurse Patricia Kulenguskey Dec. 25, 2012.

He also is accused of spitting on Correctional Officer Gregory Carpenter Feb. 13, 2013.

Finland was charged by Trooper Samuel Edwards of state police at Stonington with three counts of aggravated harassment, harassment and disorderly conduct in connection with the incidents.

Drug charges

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Bryan Primerano has charged Randy Wiest, 48, of 1039 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of methadone and careless driving involving a May 8 accident on Sunbury Street near Eighth Street.

Police reported Wiest had diazepam, nordiazepam, oxazepam, oxycodone, oxymorphone, and temazepam in his blood system while driving.

Snydertown crash

SNYDERTOWN - Margaret E. Weigold, 39, of Shamokin, suffered injuries in a two-car crash Friday at the intersection of Snydertown Road and Market Street in which five others escaped injury.

State police at Stonington reported Weigold, who was a front-seat passenger in a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire operated by Keith D. Roden, 48, of Shamokin, was transported by Americus Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, where she underwent emergency room treatment and was discharged Saturday, according to a nursing supervisor.

Beth L. McCarthy, 29, of Sunbury, the driver of a 2008 Honda Civic involved in the accident, Roden and three other passengers in his auto, Jacob A. Weigold, 21, of Shamokin, a 13-year-old Shamokin male and an 8-year-old boy from Shamokin escaped injury.

Police said the crash occurred at 5:25 p.m. as Roden was driving east on Snydertown Road when its front end collided with the right front of McCarthy's vehicle that was traveling west on Snydertown Road before making a left turn in front of Roden's vehicle.

After impact, both cars came to rest in the eastbound lane of Snydertown Road.

Police said both drivers and all passengers were wearing seat belts.

Roden's auto was towed from the scene. McCarthy's car sustained minor damage.

McCarthy was cited for a left turn violation.

Time capsule tampering

CENTRALIA - State police at Bloomsburg reported someone tampered with a time capsule on Centralia American Legion property between May 24 and Saturday.

Police said the actors arrived at the site with heavy equipment.

The time capsule was placed in 1966 and was scheduled to be opened in 2016.

Route 147 accident

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident Friday at the intersection of Route 147 and Brush Valley Road in this Northumberland County township.

According to state police at Stonington, D.A. Ressler, 85, of Herndon, was driving south on Route 147 at 6:15 p.m. when his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado struck the rear of a 2005 Ford Focus operated by Matthew C. Brophy, 36, of Selinsgrove, as it was slowing down in front of him.

After impact, both vehicles came to rest off the southbound shoulder of Route 147.

Ressler, who was not wearing a seat belt, escaped injury. Brophy, who was wearing a seat belt, and his 5-year-old male passenger from Selinsgrove, who was in a child safety seat, also were not hurt.

Brophy's Focus was towed from the scene by Aurand's Towing. The truck sustained minor damage.

Ressler was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.

Tires cut

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Lacie Michelle Derr, 25, of Sunbury, told state police at Stonington that someone cut the tires on her vehicle with an unknown object at about 4 p.m. Friday at 338 Carroll Road before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Tip jar money stolen

TREVORTON - State police at Stonington are investigating the theft of a tip jar containing approximately $125 from Hannah's Restaurant, 1142 W. Shamokin St., at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following persons were recently sentenced in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Dustin Westbrook, 29, Monroeton, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 130 days to six months, and a fine of $1750, he will also lose his driver's license for 24 months, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor and Driving under Suspension-DUI related, a summary offense. Trooper Christopher Stecik of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Westbrook following investigation of an incident that occurred in Wysox Township.

Stanley Butler, 45, Canton, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 18 months to 42 months and a fine of $3000, he will also lose his driver's license for 18 months for the offenses of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Trooper Mark Sadowski and Trooper David Kittle of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Butler following investigation of an incident that occurred in Canton Township.

Mathew Williams, 34, Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to probation for a term of 12 months, and a fine of $300, for the offense of Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Officer Sean Flynn of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Williams for the offense on Nov. 11, 2013.

Anthony Coniglio, 30, Waverly, N.Y., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 90 days to six months and a fine of $1500, he will also lose his driver's license for 18 months for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Officer Derek Watkins of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Coniglio for the offense on Dec. 29, 2013.

Cody Varga, 26, Barton, N.Y., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 90 days to 18 months, and a fine of $1500, he will also lose his driver's license for 18 months, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Officer George Nichols of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Varga for the offense on Aug. 18, 2013.

Michelle Sampson, 27, Canton, Pa., was resentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from five months to 18 months, followed by probation for 18 months, and a fine of $1000, for the offenses of two counts of Theft by Deception, a misdemeanor of the first degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Trooper Jeffrey Sredenschek of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Sampson following investigation of an incident.

Garrett Dauberman, 26, Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to Probation for a term of 18 months and a fine of $600 for the offense of two counts of Retail Theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Officer Daniel Thomas and Officer John Fedorchak of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Dauberman for the offense on Dec. 13, 2013 and Jan. 1, 2014.

Joshua Kinner, 27, Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility of from seven months to 26 months, and a fine of $500, for the offense of Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree and an Indirect Contempt. Trooper Matthew Grebeck of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Kinner following investigation of an incident that occurred in North Towanda Township.

Leslie Palumbo, 46, of Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from five days to six months and a fine of $400; he will also lose his driver's license for 12 months, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol. Officer Cody Welch of the Athens Borough Police Department arrested Palumbo for the offense in September.

District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following persons recently were placed in the ARD program in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Ashley Pollux, 25, Sayre, Pa., charged with the offense of Theft, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of eight months. While on probation, Pollux will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Pollux must perform community service, and pay restitution of $220. Officer Steven Burlingame of the Sayre Borough Police Department filed the charges on Jan. 13, 2014 for the offense in Sayre Borough.

Jason Van Dyke, 41, Sayre, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation VanDyke will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, VanDyke must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days. Officer Derrek Dekar of the Athens Police Department filed the charges on March 1, 2014 for the offense in Athens Borough.

Two charged after wedding reception

State police at Towanda recently charged a Sayre couple with harassment following an altercation at a Ridgebury Township residence.

According to information from state police, Beth Ann Giggee, 32, and Charles Edward Giggee, 35, were charged after the two got into a quarrel May 17 following their wedding reception. Alcohol was a contributing factor, police said.

Man detained on warrant

State police at Towanda recently detained a Waverly man on a warrant out of Waverly, N.Y.

According to state police, on May 30, Joshua E. Bowman, 32, was found to be wanted for criminal sale of a controlled substance. Bowman was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and remanded to the Bradford County Correctional Facility where he awaits extradition, police said.

Police investigating corruption of minors

State police at Towanda are investigating an alleged corruption of minors in New Albany Borough.

According to state police, between March and May 2014, an unnamed female is accused of having sexual contact with a juvenile victim while knowing the victim was less than 18 years of age. Investigation into the incident continues.

Gulba is accused of knocking holes and shooting BBs into the walls and also damaging the outside aluminum siding sometime between Dec. 27 and 31, resulting in damage totaling $2,977.

The home is owned by Ted Long, 41, of Catawissa.

Public drunkenness

COAL TOWNSHIP - Stanley Zelinski, 52, of 50 Sheridan St., was cited by Patrolman Chad Yoder for public drunkenness. Police said he stumbled and fell in the 1500 block of Pulaski Avenue about 5:52 p.m. Friday, striking his face and arm. He was taken by AREA Services Ambulance to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital for further evaluation.

Dairy disturbance

SUNBURY - State police said an unknown person poured milk into the gas tank of a vehicle owned by Mark Vincent Toccket, 51, of Sunbury, sometime between 10 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday. The incident occurred at 162 Shikellamy Ave., Upper Augusta Township. The investigation is ongoing.

Tool thief

DELANO - State police said an unknown actor cut a padlock from a storage shed and stole $10,000 worth of tools from the Allan A. Myers Co., of Worcester, sometime between 3 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

The incident occurred at Route 1013 and Interstate 81, Delano Township. A Honda 5000 watt generator, Honda 6500 watt generator, two six-foot levels, a Stihl carb saw, a tool kit a Paslode nail gun, a Skil circular saw and a Bosch hammer drill were taken.

Fire and death investigation

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - State police said Monday that Gerald Everett Hale, 46, of Schuylkill Haven, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police responded to a structure fire at 30 S. Shue String Lane, South Manheim Township, at 8:40 a.m. Friday and found Hale deceased from an apparent gunshot wound in the front yard. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.

Attempted burglary

SUNBURY - According to state police, Jeffrey Douglas Renn, 34, of 105 S. Main St., Sunbury, reported an attempted burglary at his residence.

The unknown perpetrator attempted to enter Renn's residence between 4 and 9:30 p.m. Sunday by breaking the plastic glass on a door. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 570-286-5601.

Public drunkenness charge

An Athens man was recently arrested by Sayre Borough police on a charge of public drunkenness.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Lester David Walters, 35, was also charged with harassment and simple assault.

Police said Walters was involved in an altercation with a female at a North Higgins Avenue residence, slapping and choking her at about 5:25 p.m. June 1.

Walters was arraigned June 1 by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. Walters' preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 10.

Man jailed for marijuana possession

Athens Borough police recently arrested a man on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Jason Michael White, 22, was found to be in possession of marijuana June 1 on Spruce Street during investigation into a report of unlawfully taken currency. White, who police said is homeless, told police he was on probation for an unrelated offense, police said.

White was arraigned June 1 by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. White's preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 10.

Sales to drunk patrons

SHAMOKIN - Snapper's, 501 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, was cited May 29 by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for selling or furnishing liquor and/or malt or brewed beverages to visibly intoxicated persons, allowing smoking in a public place where smoking is prohibited and failing to post signage as required by the Clean Indoor Air Act.

Police said the violations occurred various times during the past year.

Two-vehicle crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 7:11 p.m. at Arch and Maple Streets.

Township police report a 2013 BMW, driven by Juanita Mudry, 57, of 1088 Mountain Road, Paxinos, was attempting to pull out from the stop sign on Arch Street when she struck a 1998 Chevrolet vehicle, driven by Alexandria Zerbe, 19, of 1101 E. Webster St., Coal Township, while Zerbe's vehicle was traveling west on Arch Street.

Mudry's vehicle sustained minor damage to the front bumper of her vehicle, while Zerbe had minor damage to the passenger side doors.

Neither driver nor Mudry's passenger, Amy Mudry, 34, of Mount Carmel, were hurt.

Harassment

LOWER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - A 45-year-old male was charged with harassment after an incident at 6:27 p.m. Monday on Hallowing Run Road.

State police at Stonington report the male shoved a 37-year-old female away from a vehicle and twisted her arm.

A charge of harassment was filed with Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum, of Sunbury. State police did not release the identity of the accused or the victim because the incident was of a domestic nature.

One-car crash

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - A driver was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 11:12 p.m. Monday in the area of 473 Renns Road.

State police at Stonington report that a 2007 Kia, driven by Daniel Severn Jr., 17, of 823 Renns Road, Sunbury, was traveling east along Renns Road when the vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment and rolled over onto its roof.

Severn was uninjured in the crash, but the vehicle had to be towed from the scene. Assisting police on scene were members of the Upper Augusta Township Fire Department.

DUI charges

SHAMOKIN - Kegan D. Polastre, 22, of 1830 Maple Ave., Coal Township, was charged by Trooper Justin Rosboschil of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving, restriction on alcoholic beverages, driving without headlights and failing to wear a seat belt.

The charges relate to an incident shortly before 1 a.m. May 17 at the intersection of East Lincoln and Liberty streets.

Police reported Polastre had a blood-alcohol content of .080 percent.

Pleads guilty

SHAMOKIN - Zachary D. Zablosky, 29, of Shamokin, pleaded to possession of drug paraphernalia Tuesday and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $300 fine plus costs and spend three days in Northumberland County Prison beginning June 13.

The charge filed by Trooper Daniel Wilk of state police at Stonington relates to a non-reportable accident Feb. 2 on Route 61 south of Durdach Bros. Inc.

Multiple offenses

SHAMOKIN - Frank M. Bogus, 53, of 1011 W. Spruce St., Coal Township, was taken into custody in Snyder County on a warrant for offenses committed in Shamokin in late April.

Bogus was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III on charges of stalking, disorderly conduct, terroristic threats and two counts of harassment involving April 21 incidents, a week after he was released from Northumberland County Prison. He was recommitted to the county jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Patrolman Raymond Siko II, Amy McCabe told police April 21 that Bogus had been following her on several occasions since April 18. While she was crossing Independence Street near Rite Aid Pharmacy, McCabe said she was approached by Bogus, who began calling her lewd names and cursing.

Elaine Wysock told police she witnessed Bogus tormenting children. When the children told Bogus they were going to call their dad, Bogus pointed a finger like a pistol and stated, "Go ahead. I'll shoot him."

Wysock said Bogus told her he would take her to a place where nobody would ever find her.

Willie Schartiger informed police that Bogus made a lewd gesture at him and threatened to kill him while cursing. Schartiger said Bogus then grabbed his crotch area and began shaking his penis at him.

Bike hits car

SHAMOKIN - A 13-year-old girl was taken to an area hospital after colliding with a car while riding her bicycle Monday.

The girl was riding north on Seventh Street when she went through a stop sign. She collided with a red Mustang driven by Savanah Kruskie, of Shamokin, who was traveling west on Montgomery Street.

Shamokin Patrolman Shane Mowery, who responded to the scene, said the girl had several abrasions and was transported via ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. The girl was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Crash near cemetery

STONINGTON - One minor injury was reported in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Route 61 and Captain Bloom Road near Northumberland Memorial Park.

State police at Stonington said Clayton J. Chappell, 71, of Ashland, was driving a 1998 Ford Econoline 150 north on Route 61 at 1:06 p.m. when his van struck the rear of a 2012 Ford F-150 operated in front of him by Walter C. Boyer, 61, of Shamokin. Police said Boyer was slowing down to make a left turn onto Captain Bloom Road when the accident occurred.

After impact, both vehicles traveled off the highway and came to rest on the eastbound shoulder of Captain Bloom Road.

Chappell, who was wearing a seat belt, escaped injury. He was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.

Boyer, who also was wearing a seat belt, suffered a neck injury and was transported by Elysburg Ambulance to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, where he underwent emergency room treatment before being released.

Motorcycle crash

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Paul Deivert, 36, of Sunbury, who was driving a 2014 Yamaha Star motorcycle involved in a two-vehicle crash along Route 61 Tuesday afternoon, suffered moderate injuries and was transported by Americus Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

State police at Stonington reported Joyce A. Neidig, 49, of Sunbury, was driving a 1996 GMC Jimmy north at 4:26 p.m. when she turned left into the path of Deivert's motorcycle. Police said the motorcycle, while laying on its side, slid a short distance and struck the front passenger side tire area of Neidig's vehicle.

Both units came to rest on the highway.

Police said Deivert was wearing a helmet. Neidig and her 10-year-old male passenger from Sunbury, who were both wearing seat belts, escaped injury.

Neidig was cited for making an improper left turn.

Time capsule secured

CENTRALIA - State police at Bloomsburg reported Centralia Borough officials have secured a time capsule from the Centralia American Legion property that was tampered with between May 24 and Saturday.

The capsule was placed on the property in 1966 and was scheduled to be opened in 2016.

Minor injury

ANTHONY TOWNSHIP - Trevor E. Johnson, 20, of Wilburton, suffered a minor injury Tuesday afternoon in a one-car accident along Continental Boulevard (Route 54) in this Montour County township.

State police at Milton said Johnson was driving a 2011 Honda Accord east on Route 54 at about 3 p.m. when he attempted to pass a horse-drawn buggy traveling in the eastbound lane. As he was attempting to pass, police said Johnson observed another vehicle traveling west toward him and swerved to avoid a collision.

Police said Johnson lost control of his car, which exited the road on the south berm and struck a utility pole with its front center. The auto then rotated in a clockwise direction before coming to rest facing west.

Motorcycle crash update

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here have released more details involving a motorcycle crash Tuesday night on the ramp from Route 2026 to Route 61 near the traffic signal at Burger King.

Police said Andrew Johnson, 34, of 809 E. Clay St., Shamokin, lost control of his motorcycle for an unknown reason at about 7:30 p.m. and struck a stone embankment while trying to negotiate a left turn to travel onto Route 61. The roadway was wet and slippery at the time from rainfall.

Johnson was transported by AREA Services Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was listed in serious condition Wednesday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The motorcycle was towed by Dave's Auto Body from Kulpmont.

The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting Coal Township police at the scene were personnel from East End and Brady fire companies, Shamokin police and state police from Stonington.

One hurt in crash

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Frederick Jacoby, 71, of Shenandoah, was listed in stable condition Wednesday at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital after being injured in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday at the intersection of Route 487 and Bottle Road.

Ralpho Township police reported Jacoby was driving a blue Buick sedan north on Route 487 at 5:15 p.m. when he apparently crossed into the southbound lane and struck a Buick sport utility vehicle operated by Maureen Houser, of Coal Township, who was stopped on Bottle Road while attempting to turn right onto Route 487.

Police said Jacoby's car spun the sport utility vehicle into the northbound lane of Bottle Road, while his vehicle came to rest in a grassy area along Route 487 north of Bottle Road.

Both vehicles sustained moderate to extensive front-end damage.

Jacoby was transported to the hospital by Elysburg Ambulance.

Houser was taken from the scene by a private vehicle.

Assisting police were fire police and members of Elysburg Fire Company.

Criminal mischief

COAL TOWNSHIP - Chrystal Yoder, 38, of 909 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, reported someone threw a rock through her front glass screen door Wednesday, causing it to shatter. The door is valued at $200.

Window broken

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here reported someone broke a window at 1746 Mohawk St. between noon and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The owner of the house is Andre Jarrell, 30.
