Charges filed

State police at Towanda said charges were filed Nov. 7 against William Metzgar, 45, of Horsham, for one count of sale or transfer of a firearm and unsworn falsification to authorities, at the office of Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark of Towanda.

According to police, a firearms violation occurred at 11:40 a.m. April 19 at L & R Reloading in Albany Township.

Police said Metzgar went into the store and filled out a firearms application for sale and incorrectly checked the block that referred to being convicted of a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence.

People injured

State police at Towanda said two people had injuries of unknown severity in a crash that occurred at 9:42 a.m. Nov. 9 on Route 220, 459 feet south of French Creek Road, in Albany Township.

According to police, drivers involved in the crash were a 16-year-old Monroeton girl and Steven Schooley, 57, of Danville, Pa.

Police said the teen was traveling north and Schooley was going south on Route 220, when the girl negotiated a slight left curve, lost control of her Nissan Sentra, and traveled sideways into the opposite lane of travel, striking Schooley's Honda Civic.

Police said the teen will be charged with a violation of "roadways laned for traffic."

DUI arrest reported

On Nov. 5, officers with the Athens Borough Police Department arrested 23-year-old Athens resident Eric E. Hurlburt, and charged him with several offenses related to driving while intoxicated in the borough.

While on patrol on South Elmira Street, officers observed a vehicle, driven by Hurlburt, crossing the double yellow line and returning to his lane of travel multiple times. Officers initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Hurlburt. During questioning, the officer reported a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. He was then asked to perform the standard battery of field sobriety tests. It was the opinion of the officer that Hurlburt should not be operating a motor vehicle because of the amount of alcohol consumed by Hurlburt and the inability to complete the tests to a satisfactory conclusion.

Hurlburt was subsequently charged with DUI: highest rate of alcohol, DUI: general impairment, driving on the right side of the roadway and careless driving. He will face these charges at a preliminary hearing with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Dec. 5.

Burglary charges for bar owner's son

Levi N. Sutton, 20, of Athens, was arrested on Oct. 30 and charged with several offenses related to the break in and burglary of Slammerz Bar and Grill in Athens.

Officers with the Athens Borough Police Department were contacted by the owner of the establishment regarding the unlawful entry and taking of currency from the establishment. During the conversation with the bar owner, he relayed to officers that he felt that his son, Sutton, was involved in some way. Officers contacted Sutton and during questioning, he did admit he entered the establishment through a window which he unlocked prior to the bar closing. He then admitted to the theft of a green bank bag containing $1,000. He then admitted he stole the money in order to "purchase controlled substances, namely heroin."

Sutton further admitted to obtaining money from the establishment on two other occasions, each time taking approximately $100.

The owner of the establishment explained to officers that Sutton does not have permission to enter the structure at any time while business is not open to the public and he was never permitted to remove currency from the premises.

Sutton was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking. He was prearraigned on Oct. 30 by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and was remanded to the Bradford County Correctional Facility in lieu of $75,000 bail. He is set to face these charges at a preliminary hearing on Nov. 25 with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw.

False alarms

MONROE TOWNSHIP - The Budget Bakery, of 2558 N. Susquehanna Trail, Monroe Township, was cited by state police at Selinsgrove for having more than three false alarms at its establishment within a six-month period, the last one occurred at 7:10 a.m. Friday.

Drug offenses

MOUNT CARMEL - Police charged Angel Lopez, 25, and Bobbijo Lopez, 36, both of 148 W. Avenue, with drug offenses following an investigation by borough police and members of the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force, Nov. 9.

According to court documents, borough Police Chief Todd Owens and officer Matthew Dillman reported a confidential informant said Angel Lopez was selling marijuana from his residence. The officers set up a buy, during which the informant purchased a quarter-bag of marijuana for $40.

After getting a search warrant for the residence, police entered and found marijuana on the dining room table, Bobbijo's wallet containing the buy money, a green spring-loaded knife and a smoking pipe.

Both individuals were charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, criminal conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of prohibited offensive weapons and criminal conspiracy to possess a controlled substance. Angel Lopez also faces charges of delivery of a controlled substance, and criminal use of a communication facility.

Both were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $50,000 bail. Preliminary hearings for both are scheduled for Wednesday.

Criminal mischief

SHAMOKIN - Daniel F. Karpinski Jr., 46, of 500 S. Market St., was cited for criminal mischief and harassment by Shamokin City Police Chief Darwin Tobias. According to police, Karpinski allegedly broke a window at the home of Jason Carl on West Adams Street at 3:24 p.m. Wednesday and then threatened Carl and his family.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Tracy Shook, 44, of Girardville, was charged by Coal Township police with misdemeanor retail theft after police said she stole $384.40 in merchandise Oct. 18 at Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township.

DUI

KULPMONT - John A. Maturani, 36, of 72 Peach Branch Rd., Benton, was charged with driving under the influence, careless driving, driving on roadways laned for traffic, and driving on one-way roadways based on a traffic stop on Pine Street, Kulpmont, Feb. 27.

According to court documents filed by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Joshua Pastucka, Maturani was seen swerving into the opposite lane of the highway while he traveled through Natalie, Marion Heights and Kulpmont. He eventually stopped the vehicle after traveling in the wrong direction on a one-way street in Kulpmont.

Police said Maturani failed field sobriety tests and chemical testing showed his blood alcohol level to be .176 percent.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17.

Simple assault

MOUNT CARMEL - Police charged Jonathan M. Mazak, 32, of 29 S. Spruce St., with two counts of simple assault, and harassment following an incident at the Spruce Street residence Aug. 9.

According to court documents filed by borough police officer Jason Drumheller, a 13-year-old girl showed a neighbor bruises on her leg from an incident that occurred the night prior. The teen told the neighbor her mother's boyfriend, Mazak, threw a boot at her and struck her in the right thigh, causing the bruise, police said. Mazak told police the girl was "mouthing off" and he was trying to get her attention by throwing a boot, which accidently struck her.

On Oct. 13, the 13-year-old arrived at the station with her father. She told police she had been arguing with her brother and chased him out of the house into the street. She said Mazak began yelling at her and threw a steel-toe boot at her, causing the bruise.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17 on the charges before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

SUNBURY - Six defendants were sentenced Monday on various charges in Northumberland County Court.

- Mark Melnick, 27, of Mount Carmel, was sentenced by President Judge William Wiest to one year of intermediate punishment with the first 30 days on house arrest for tampering with evidence relating to a March 2, 2013, incident in Mount Carmel Township. He also was ordered to pay fines totaling $1,400 plus costs.

In connection with the same incident, Melnick was sentenced to six months of intermediate punishment with the first three days on house arrest for a DUI offense, which runs concurrent to the sentence imposed on the tampering charge. He also was ordered to pay costs for driving under suspension.

- Joseph Bucanelli IV, 42, of Elysburg, was sentenced by Wiest to 16 months of intermediate punishment with the first 90 days on house arrest and ordered to pay a $1,500 fine plus costs for driving under the influence of alcohol. The charge was filed by state police at Stonington in connection with a Sept. 30, 2012, incident in Coal Township.

- Christian Scipio, 45, of Mount Carmel, was sentenced by Wiest to two years probation and ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs for recklessly endangering another person. He also was ordered to pay costs on charges of reckless driving and discharging a firearm and must undergo a mental health evaluation.

The charges filed by Mount Carmel police relate to incidents Aug. 5, 2011.

- Joseph McGinley, 50, of Mount Carmel, was sentenced by Wiest to six months of intermediate punishment with the first 30 days on house arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol June 25, 2013, in Mount Carmel Township. McGinley must pay a $300 fine plus costs.

- Judge Charles Saylor sentenced Trudi Zeigler, 46, of Danville, to five years of intermediate punishment with the first 90 days on house arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Zeigler must pay a $1,500 fine plus costs and make restitution of $740 to Timothy Karr.

Zeigler was charged by Riverside police in connection with a May 15 incident.

- Saylor also sentenced William McCollum, 34, of Shamokin, to two days to six months in Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury for driving under the influence of alcohol involving a March 9 incident in Shamokin. McCollum, who was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus costs, will begin his sentence Nov. 22.

He was charged by state police at Stonington.

Gas theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - A Shamokin man faces theft charges for allegedly stealing $25 worth of gas from a local service station.

According to court documents, Coal Township Police Officer Chad Yoder reported David Seger, 54, of 1026 E. Packer St., Shamokin, received $25 in gas in his vehicle at Miller's Gas Station on Route 61, Coal Township June 16. When the attended asked for payment, Seger said he didn't have the money but promised to go and get it. The attendant asked for his registration and insurance cards as collateral, and Seger provided them, but never returned.

Seger was arraigned Monday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic, of Shamokin, and released on $2,500 unsecured bail on a charge of theft by unlawful taking. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 25.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Candace Bucher, 32, of Kulpmont, was charged by Coal Township Police with misdemeanor retail theft after police said she stole $29.10 in merchandise from Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township Oct. 31.

Bucher was also charged by Coal Township police with misdemeanor retail theft after police said she under-rang $8.44 in merchandise Oct. 28.

Drug paraphernalia

MOUNT CARMEL - Bryan S. Shedaker, 30, an inmate at SCI Coal Township, was sentenced to 12 months probation and to pay a $500 fine after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia in a preliminary hearing Thursday.

Shedaker was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Officer Kelly Campbell after a probation visit to a home at 149 E. Saylor St., Atlas, June 10.

Charges of hindering prosecution, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance were withdrawn in the case.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Julie Nairns, 39, of Coal Township, was charged with a felony count of retail theft after Coal Township police said she stole $1,307.92 in merchandise from Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township Nov. 15.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Grant I. Shelley Jr., 58, of 113 Berry St., Coal Township, was cited for disorderly conduct by Shamokin City Police patrolman Raymond Siko II after an incident at 5:10 p.m. Friday when he allegedly interfered with the police's efforts to apprehend a female in the 200 block of South Franklin Street.

Simple assault

MOUNT CARMEL - Roger A. Kramer, 21, of 104 S. Peach St., was charged by Borough Police Chief Todd Owens with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly pushed and threatened his father, Roger A. Kramer Sr., during an Oct. 27 incident at his residence.

A preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled for Dec. 17 before Magistrate District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - A 16-year-old male from Shamokin was cited for retail theft after Coal Township police said he removed a Bluetooth jam speaker from its package and attempted to leave Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township without paying the full retail value of $49.88 at 9:55 p.m. Nov. 14.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Tammy Gonzalez, 50, of 514 S. Diamond St., was cited for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness by Shamokin City Police Cpl. Jarrod Scandle. Police said Gonzalez was found lying in the bushes of a private property at Diamond and Adams street and was under the influence of alcohol at 11:26 p.m. Oct. 31.

DUI

STRONG - Joseph M. Sweeney, 53, of 26 N. Walnut St., Mount Carmel, was charged with driving under the influence, driving on roadways laned for traffic, and careless driving following a traffic stop near the intersections of Routes 54 and 61 at 2 a.m. July 20.

Mount Carmel Township Police Officer Keith Tamborelli reported in court documents he was out on patrol when he observed Sweeney travel off the right shoulder of the roadway after exiting the Viaduct bridge from Mount Carmel borough. After a traffic stop, police attempted to give Sweeney field sobriety tests, but stopped for his safety.

Chemical blood testing at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital showed his blood alcohol level was .235 percent.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17.

COAL TOWNSHIP - Sarah McGinley, 27, of Kulpmont, was cited for retail theft after Coal Township police said she stole $132.37 in merchandise from Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township Sept. 6.

COAL TOWNSHIP - Diana Lentini, 54, of Kulpmont, was cited with retail theft after Coal Township police said she stole $76.76 in merchandise from Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township Oct. 7.

COAL TOWNSHIP - Kevin Buch, 20, of Trevorton, and Sabrina Maisey, 19, of Coal Township, were cited for retail theft after Coal Township police said they stole $144.88 in merchandise Aug. 28.

Harassment

COAL TOWNSHIP - A 15-year-old male from Coal Township was charged with harassment after an incident Oct. 31 during a football game at Kemp Memorial Stadium.

According to Coal Township Police, the unidentified male threatened and harassed Judy Eby, 47, who is a teacher's aide for the Shamokin Area School District. Police said the male was yelling obscenities at Eby. On Nov. 4 and 6, while Eby was instructing the male at the vocational school, the male used obscenities at Eby and threatened her.

Scattering rubbish

COAL TOWNSHIP - John Stine, 29, of 192 "B" Bear Gap Road, Elysburg, owner of Reliable Services, was charged with scattering rubbish after several bags of garbage were located in the Big Mountain area of Coal Township Nov. 14.

Four involved in fight

On Oct. 26, Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to a residence in Litchfield Township in response to a verbal argument which escalated into a physical fight. Upon arrival, Troopers found 23-year-old Randy Talada of Sayre, 42-year-old Lee Heim of Sayre and two juvenile males, aged 14 and 15, engaged in the argument.

Vehicle theft occurs

The incident occurred between Oct. 19-20, when the victim reported that one of his vehicles was stolen out of his garage on Beacon Hill Road in Wyalusing and another vehicle was damaged. The stolen vehicle is a red 2005 Chrysler Sebring two door car with a PA registration number HFN0945. Craigslist scam reported

The incident occurred on Oct. 30, when a victim in Smithfield Township reported a possible theft by deception after selling her furniture on Craigslist. Anyone with information on this incident should contact the state police in Towanda at (570) 265-2186.

Mail theft occurs

On Oct. 29, a victim on Mac Road in Smithfield Township reported to Pennsylvania State Police that someone illegally removed mail from his mailbox. The investigation is ongoing.

Illegal attempt to purchase a weapon reported

On Aug. 29, a 28-year-old Athens man attempted to purchase a handgun at Up In Arms Shooting Supplies in Smithfield Township. The paperwork required by the ATF and Pennsylvania State Police background check was completed and the system denied the purchase. The investigation is ongoing.

Hit and run reported

Pennsylvania State Police reported a one vehicle crash that occurred on Doty Hill Road in South Creek Township on Oct. 22. The incident occurred as the vehicle was travelling north on Doty Hill Road when it left its lane of travel and struck a rock pillar. The vehicle then left the scene. The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the incident.

Retail theft reported

Stephani L. Greene, 24, of Elmira, was arrested by Athens Township Police officers on Nov. 4 after a call from asset protection officers at the Walmart in Sayre. Greene allegedly hid merchandise in her children's diaper bag and tried to leave the store without payment. She was charged with corruption of minors and retail theft. She was arraigned on Nov. 4 and received $300 bail. Greene is set to face these charges at a preliminary hearing at a later date.

Man charged after 'huffing' in parking lot

Lucas A. Rhoads, 24, of Charleston, Ill., was arrested by Athens Township Police officers on Nov. 4 after a response to a report of a male "huffing" inhalants in a Jeep in the Walmart in Sayre. Officers arriving at the scene found the vehicle and Rhoads was passed out in the driver's seat. At the time, the vehicle was running.

Officers observed several cans of Ultra Duster in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, with one laying on Rhoads' lap.

After waking the suspect, police took Rhoads to the Athens Township Police Station and he was processed. It was then noted that this was the third such incident related to the subject's use of Ultra Duster since Nov. 2.

Rhoads was subsequently charged with two counts of sale or illegal use of certain solvents and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned on Nov. 4 and received $10,000 bail. Rhoads is set to face Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 25.

Crash at Walmart

COAL TOWNSHIP - Five people were taken to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday at the entrance to Walmart Supercenter along Route 61.

According to Coal Township police, Penny Lindenmuth, 51, of Ashland, was attempting to turn left from the northbound lanes into the store's parking lot when her vehicle, a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, was struck by an oncoming 1996 GMC Suburban driven by Daniel Boyd, 54, of Coal Township. The crash occurred at 7:25 p.m.

Lindenmuth and passengers Clayton Knorr, 32, of Ashland, Danricia Ramsay, 21, of Shamokin, and a 13-year-old Ashland girl were all taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Boyd also was transported to G-SACH. There were two passengers in his vehicle: Chastity Beery, 38, of Coal Township, and a 10-year-old girl.

The crash remains under investigation. Both vehicles were towed. Assisting at the scene were members of the Brady Fire Co. and Coal Township Fire Department, AREA Services, Elysburg Ambulance, Zerbe Township Ambulance and Coal Township Fire Police.

PFA violation

SUNBURY - James H. Latshaw, 48, of 126 E. Arch St., Shamokin, was remanded to Northumberland County Prison Wednesday for violating a protection from abuse by making contact with Jennifer Geiser.

Northumberland County Judge Charles H. Saylor ordered Latshaw, already a county inmate, to an additional 30 days for indirect criminal contempt. He was fined $300 and must pay related court costs.

Latshaw is held on multiple charges in five separate cases, including flight to avoid apprehension and theft. His bail was lowered by Saylor to a combined $45,000.

Burglary reported

An unknown person or individuals broke into Troy Dry Cleaners sometime between late Monday night and early Tuesday morning on East Main Street in Troy Borough and removed an undisclosed amount of money, said Troy police.

The person or persons broke a window and gained entry into the boiler room, police said.

An investigation is ongoing.

Stroller found

Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda reported a baby stroller was found on the side of Gulf Road in Orwell Township on Nov. 3. Anyone with information may contact the state police at (570) 265-2186.

Drug paraphernalia found

Pennsylvania State Police reported, that drug paraphernalia was found on Oct. 28 inside a residence along Milan Road in Ulster Township. These items were subsequently turned over to the state police for further investigation.

Series of thefts reported

Terence A. Poole, 48, of Waverly, was arrested on Nov. 7 by officers with the Sayre Borough Police Department after an investigation regarding a series of retail thefts from Croft Lumber in Sayre. Officers were called by the store and informed that Poole had been observed on a surveillance camera taking a Bostitch Finish Nailer during his visit to the store the day before. Poole was known to the employees of the store as an employee of S & J Landscaping and his employer was called regarding the missing nailer. The employer subsequently returned the item.

Upon investigating the stolen nailer, employees with Croft Lumber inventoried several missing items later found in Poole's possession totalling $1,812.01. When asked about the stolen items, Poole admitted to police that he had taken the items over the last two weeks.

Poole was subsequently charged with felony counts of retail theft and receiving stolen property. He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Nov. 7 and received non-monetary bail. Poole is set to face these charges at a formal arraignment on Dec. 11.

Disorderly conduct arrest

On Nov. 7, officers with the Athens Borough Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Fourth Street for a report of an unwanted person threatening a resident.

Upon arrival, officers were met with a highly intoxicated person, identified as 45-year-old Otto Miller of Sayre. At the time, Miller was yelling and screaming at a neighbor's house across the street. When approached, he stated to officers, "I'm not going with you." It was at this time that officers struggled with Miller to handcuff him as he resisted.

Miller was charged with disorderly conduct, unreasonable noise. He was arraigned on Nov. 7 and received $5,000 bail. He is set to face these charges at a preliminary hearing on Dec. 16 with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw.

Guilty pleas

SHAMOKIN - Two defendants entered guilty pleas earlier this week.

Daren Albertson, 26, of 217 Third St., Ranshaw, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $200 fine plus costs and was placed on probation for nine months.

Albertson was charged by Coal Township Cpl. Joshua Wynn in connection with a Sept. 27 incident on Route 61 in Luke Fidler.

Amanda M. Lotis, 31, of 137 W. Avenue, Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to pay a fine and costs totaling $268. Additional charges of criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property were withdrawn.

Lotis was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman William Adamski with conspiring with Jody Valentine Foulke, of Elysburg, to steal cans from a storage bin outside the Mount Carmel Elks, 128 N. Oak St., on Oct. 14.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN - Cody Z. Horne, 19, of 221 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly assaulted his mother, Janet Willis, at their home Monday afternoon.

Police reported Horne is accused of shoving Willis with both hands against a kitchen sink, causing a chest injury. Police said Willis also experienced trouble breathing.

Willis, who claimed Horne eats all the food in the house and smokes all her cigarettes, told police her son smashed items inside the home and threatened to beat her.

Multiple charges

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Bryan A. Olimpo, 24, of 5 N. Sport Lane, Locust Gap, has been charged by Patrolman Kelly Campbell with altering or forging a registration plate, driving under suspension, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs, possession of a controlled substance, driving without a license, driving without proper registration, failing to wear protective equipment while operating a motorcycle and driving without insurance.

The charges relate to a Sept. 19 incident on Locust Gap Highway.

Police said Olimpo admitted smoking marijuana and injecting himself with Subutex. Olimpo refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test.

Code violations

SHAMOKIN - The owners of several blighted properties in Shamokin were cited Wednesday by City police Cpl. Bryan Primerano for failing to fix their structures. All the property owners were previously sent a certified code letter advising them of the code violations, with no response or corrections made, Primerano said, and were cited three previous times by city code officer Rick Bozza, also with no response.

Police said Blum was observed driving erratically in Kulpmont and Coal Township on Aug. 27 and was stopped in the 400 block of Chestnut Street in Kulpmont.

Police reported Blum had heroin, codeine and morphine in his blood system.

DUI offenses

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Matthew Filarski has charged Michael J. Allem, 51, of Pennsburg, with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia and driving at an unsafe speed involving a May 10 traffic stop at the intersection of Routes 2034 and 54.

Police reported marijuana, cocaine, metabolites and cyclobenzaprine were found in Allem's blood system.

Public drunkenness

MOUNT CARMEL - Shane D. Long, 22, of 514 E. Fifth St., was cited for public drunkenness by Patrolman Matthew Dillman. Police said Long was intoxicated and vomiting about 3:30 a.m. Nov. 1 in the first block of North Oak Street.

False alarms

MOUNT CARMEL - Nicholas Rodriguez, 43, of 412 S. Market St., was cited both Nov. 1 and Nov. 11 for allowing his home alarm to repeatedly auto dial emergency services, according to police. The citations were filed by Lt. Christopher Buhay and Patrolman Matthew Dillman.

Dog at large

MOUNT CARMEL - Joseph L. Pearson, 70, of 217 E. Avenue, was cited by Lt. Christopher Buhay with dogs running at large for allegedly allowing his dog to run free about 11:30 a.m. Nov. 2.

MOUNT CARMEL - A 15-year-old Ashland male was cited with disorderly conduct by Cpl. David Donkochik for a disturbance at Fourth and Willow streets about 8 p.m. Oct. 30.

MOUNT CARMEL - Zachary J. McGinley, 25, of 219 S. Chestnut St., was cited with criminal mischief by Patrolman Justin Stelma. Police said he punched and damaged a vehicle owned by Jarad Smith about 1 p.m. Nov. 8 in the 200 block of South Market Street.

Smashes items

MOUNT CARMEL - James Alexander Johnson, 29, was cited with harassment by Chief Todd Owens. Police said he smashed items inside 106 W. Avenue about 12:45 p.m. Nov. 4, and grabbed the arm of his girlfriend, 30-year-old Sarah Jane Williams, causing bruising.

Driver cited

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jennifer L. Roth, 46, of 621 W. Pine St., Shamokin, was cited by Coal Township police for operating a 1993 Chevy truck without valid insurance coverage relating to an Oct. 31 accident on School House Lane near Kemp Memorial Stadium.

Police said Roth was traveling east when her truck struck a 2013 Toyota sedan operated by Kenneth Yoder, 63, of 213 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, as Yoder was in the stadium parking lot waiting to pull onto School House Lane.

No injuries were reported and no towing was required.

Samuel Corey, 22, Troy, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility for 12 months to 36 months and fines of $500, for the offense of Burglary. Trooper Steve Steransky of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Corey following investigation of an incident that occurred in Troy Borough.

Brandon Seeley, 25, Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for a flat 45 days and fines of $2,500, County Intermediate Punishment for 24 months for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol. Guilty Pleas

Edward Schrader, 65, Sayre, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Indecent Assault, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Schrader will be sentenced in February, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department, and a report by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offender Assessment Board. Sentencing is delayed because the Board report takes at least 90 days. Officer Sean Flynn of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Schrader for the offense in October.

Cory Briggs, 29, Gillett, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Firearm not to be Carried w/o License, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Briggs will be sentenced on Dec. 22, 2014, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford county Probation Department. Officer Roger Clink of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Briggs for the offense on June 10, 2014.

Christopher Heasley, 25, Fassett, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Public Drunkenness, a summary offense. NOLO CONTENDERE

Christopher Heasley, 25, Fassett, Pa., entered a plea of nolo contendere/no contest to Resisting Arrest, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Heasley will be sentenced on Dec. 22, 2014, following preparation of a pre-sentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. A no-contest plea is entered where the defendant cannot recall the event but will be held guilty and sentenced. Trooper Kyle Gruber of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Heasley following investigation of an incident that occurred in Troy Borough.

LCB violations

SUNBURY - The Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement has cited Goodwill Hose Co. Inc., 500 Reagan St., Sunbury, for failing to maintain complete and truthful records covering business operations for a period of two years immediately preceding Oct. 16, concerning the local option of Small Games of Chance Act.

The citation was issued Nov. 13.

On Thursday, the bureau cited Brewers Outlet, 231 Reagan St., Sunbury, for sales to minors.

The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. The judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge.

Burglary charges

TOWER CITY - Bradley Merwine, 35, of Donaldson, and Jeff Leach, 34, of Coal Township, have been charged by state police at Schuylkill Haven with burglary-related offenses in connection with a break-in at a garage owned by Robert Madenford, 43, of Tower City.

Police said Merwine and Leach are accused of gaining entry into the garage at 253 Main St. between 8 p.m. July 4 and 1 p.m. July 5 and stealing several tools, including a Bostich air-powered roofing nailer, a black air compressor with two wheels, a blue and silver Campbell Hausfeld ½-inch air-powered impact wrench, a blue and silver Campbell Hausfeld ½-inch air-powered ratchet, a yellow electric stick welder, a diamond-plated tool box and a Black and Decker 3.5-amp variable speed jigsaw.

Police said the burglars fled on foot through a wooded trail with the stolen items that were eventually brought to 288 Main St. and hidden in several locations on the property.

As of Friday, the yellow electric welder, black air compressor and variable speed jigsaw have been recovered.

Burglary

BUFFALO TOWNSHIP - State police at Milton reported someone stole a bag containing approximately $900 worth of hunting supplies owned by Randall Rebuck, 61, of Sunbury, from W.H. Troup Road between Nov. 16 and Thursday.

DUI

LOST CREEK - Michell M. Houtz, 40, of Ashland, was charged by state police at Frackville with driving under the influence of alcohol relating to a traffic stop at 11:10 p.m. Friday on Route 54 in this Schuylkill County village.

Sobriety checkpoints

COAL TOWNSHIP - The North Central Highway Safety Network's Regional DUI Enforcement Group and Coal Township police announced roving patrols or sobriety checkpoints will be conducted this week on Routes 61, 225, 125, 54, 487, 901 and 147 or other connecting roadways to municipalities.

Three-vehicle crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - Township police are continuing their investigation into an accident just after midnight Sunday involving three vehicles and a utility pole in the 900 block of West Arch Street.

Patrolman Jason Adams reported Brian Drust, 34, of Coal Township, was driving a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee west when his vehicle struck a parked black Jeep Cherokee on the north side of the street. The impact caused the parked Jeep to strike a nearby utility pole and a red Geo Tracker parked in front of the black Jeep.

The pole was not damaged and the Tracker sustained moderate damage. The black Jeep and Drust's Jeep sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene.

Drust was not injured.

Truck theft update

COAL TOWNSHIP - Harold John McGurl Jr., of Ashland, will be charged with theft-related offenses for allegedly stealing a black 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 cab crew from B&L Chevrolet-Buick on Route 61 Friday.

Police said McGurl was allowed to take the truck valued at $45,000 for a test drive between 4:45 and 5 p.m., but failed to return the vehicle to the dealership.

The truck was recovered by Pottsville police at 10 p.m. Friday and McGurl was taken into custody without incident. He was incarcerated in Schuylkill County Prison on a bench warrant issued Sept. 29 for failing to appear in Schuylkill County Court on charges of theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief, according to court documents.

He had been released from prison Feb. 27 on $5,000 unsecured bail.

According to court documents, McGurl was also charged by police with violating a protection from abuse order for an Aug. 25 incident.

Citations

COAL TOWNSHIP - Coal Township Code Enforcement Officer Chris Petrovich cited James Hoffman, of 1040 W. Arch St., Coal Township, for having high brush, grass and weeds in a backyard at a property he owns at 1308 W. Independence St.

Petrovich also cited Nicole Hart, of 1546 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, for allowing rubbish to accumulate at the back and side of her home and having a dead cat on her front porch.

The citations were issued Nov. 17.

Window shot

LYKENS - State police said a bullet was shot through an upstairs bedroom window and landed on the dresser of Edward Andrew Lasalle, 41, of 436 Henniger Road, Mifflin Township, sometime between Oct 31, 2012, and Oct. 31, 2014. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police in Lykens at 717-362-8700.

Pipe damaged

State police at Towanda said someone damaged an exterior water pipe that runs along the roadway sometime between 6 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. Nov. 10 on Lookout Road in Columbia Township.

Police said the victim is Talisman Energy of Horseheads, N.Y., and anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact state police at Towanda at (570) 265-2186.

Man suffers major injury

State police at Towanda said Chris E. Seymour, 51, of Gillett, had a major injury in a crash at 6:09 p.m. Nov. 9 on Roaring Run Road in South Creek Township.

Police said he was traveling west and lost control of his Chevrolet Trailblazer, which struck a tree on the northern side of the roadway.

Police said he was charged for a violation of "driving vehicle at safe speed."

No injuries

State police at Towanda said Franklin Tillotson of Canton was not injured in a crash at 12:53 p.m. Nov. 13 on Southside Road in LeRoy Township.

Police said he was traveling west in his Buick LeSabre, which drifted off the road and struck a mailbox, causing disabling damage to the passenger side front wheel. It came to final rest facing west in the westbound travel lane of Southside Road.

Junior's Towing assisted at the scene, police said.

No one injured

State police at Towanda said Lavern Jordan Wagler, 22, of Ulster, was not injured in a one-vehicle crash at 6:04 p.m. Nov. 13 on Lake Road, approximately three-quarter of a mile north of Hollenback Road, in Rome Township.

Police said Wagler was traveling north when he lost control on a right curve of his Honda Civic, which traveled off the east shoulder and struck a tree. It sustained disabling damage as a result of the crash. The vehicle was towed, police said.

Police said a charge for a violation of "driving on roadways laned for traffic" was filed on Wagler through District Court 42-3-04.

One injured

State police at Towanda said Willis McCauley, 77, of Rome, had a moderate injury in a one-vehicle crash at 10:54 a.m. Nov. 14 on Battle Creek Road, one-half mile north of Route 187, in Rome Township.

Police said McCauley lost control of his Nissan Murano for unknown reasons and traveled off the east shoulder, over a steep embankment, and struck a tree with the front-end of the vehicle. It rolled over onto its roof, and sustained disabling damage and was towed.

Police said McCauley was transported to Robert Packer Hospital for medical treatment.

According to police, a charge for a violation of "driving on roadways laned for travel" was filed on McCauley through District Court 42-3-04. The Rome Volunteer Fire Department and Fire Police, Memorial EMS, and Benjamin's Towing assisted.

Man charged with suspicion of DUI

State police at Towanda said a 26-year-old Gillett man is being charged with suspicion of DUI after admitting to taking six cold and flu pills and then driving to another residence to pick up tires at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 12 on Route 14 in Troy.

Fight reported

State police at Towanda said four people were charged with one count each of harassment after engaging in a fight at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 12 at a location on Route 14 in Troy Township.

Police said those who were charged are John Baptist Garino, 26, of Gillett; Bernard Travis Baker, 32, of Troy; a 15-year-old Troy male juvenile; and Daniel Thomas Breese, 20, of Troy.

Police also listed Garino and Baker as victims in the incident.

Woman charged with DUI

State police at Towanda said charges were filed against Sherryann C. Levindoski, 46, of Troy Township, for DUI following a one-vehicle crash at 9:59 a.m. Nov. 12 on Coolbaugh Hill Road in Granville Township, in which she was involved.

While police interviewed Levindoski at Robert Packer Hospital, she shows signs of intoxication, police said.

DUI crash

State police at Towanda said Tonya Lynn Schrader/Cummings, 44, of Canton, operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and lost control, resulting in a crash at 7:45 p.m. Sept. 12 on Bailey's Corners Road at Bunyon Hill Road in Granville Township.

No injuries reported

State police at Towanda said a crash occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. Nov. 6 on the Berwick Turnpike in Burlington Township.

Police did not identify the driver.

According to police, the driver was traveling south, went through a right-hand turn, and saw a deer in the roadway. The driver swerved to avoid hitting the deer and lost control of the vehicle, when he tried to bring it back into his lane of travel. Police said the Chevrolet Cobalt spun approximately 90 degrees and slid into an embankment. Police said the vehicle was winched onto the roadway by Junior's Towing and driven from the scene.

The Smithfield Township Volunteer Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

Man not injured in crash

State police at Towanda said William A. Jenkins, 46, of Columbia Cross Roads, was not injured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9 on Route 14 in Troy Township.

Police said he was traveling north and struck a deer. Police said his Ford Explorer had heavy front passenger side damage and was towed by Junior's Towing.

No injuries when vehicle strikes deer

State police at Towanda said the driver was not injured in a crash at 7:51 p.m. Nov. 7 on Route 6 in Burlington Township in which a Jeep Liberty struck a deer.

Police did not identify the driver.

According to police, the deer entered the roadway from the eastbound lane and crossed the roadway into the westbound lane, where the vehicle struck the deer. Police said the vehicle had minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene.

People not injured

State police at Towanda said no one was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 5:36 p.m. Nov. 5 on Route 6 in Wysox Township.

According to police, drivers involved in the crash were Joseph Weber of Frederick, Colo. and Leslie Porter of Towanda.

Police said Weber was traveling west and Porter was driving east. Weber turning left into Flynn Beverage, and was trying to cross over the eastbound lane of travel. While making the left turn and partially in the eastbound lane, Weber's vehicle struck Porter's vehicle, police said.

Both vehicles could be driven from the scene, police said.
