Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett reports that the following persons were recently sentenced in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

William Keene, 35, of Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 45 days, flat, followed by County Intermediate Punishment for 24 months; County Intermediate Punishment involves a combination of restrictions and supervision. It may include home confinement, electronic monitor, and substance abuse treatment. Violations can result in incarceration; fines and costs to be determined by the court, he will also lose his driver's license for 18 months, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Officer Sean Flynn of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Keene for the offense on May 23, 2014.

Lacey Benson, 24, Canton, Pa., was sentenced to Probation supervision for a term of one year, (did six days incarceration) for the offense of Hindering Apprehension, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Officer Trey Kurtz of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Benson for the offense on May 1, 2014.

Samantha Laudenslager, 23, Columbia Cross Roads, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a Bradford County Correctional Facility for 145 days to 12 months and fines, costs, and restitution of $1,000 for the offense of Criminal Conspiracy/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a felony. Agents of the Bradford County Drug Task Force arrested Laudenslager for the offense on July 1, 2014.

David Krause, 48, Milan, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 30 days to six months, and fines, costs, restitution of $1,000 and $3,800, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Trooper Peter Smith of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Krause following investigation of an incident that occurred in Ulster Township.

Taylor Machmer, 19, Towanda, Pa., was resentenced to probation supervision for a term of one years, and fines, costs, restitution of $200, for the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Trooper Mark Sadowski of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Machmer following investigation of an incident that occurred in Canton Township.

Taylor Machmer, 19, Towanda, Pa., was resentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for three months to 11 months, 29 days, fines, costs, restitution of $200, for the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Officer Trey Kurtz of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Machmer for the offense in July 2013.

Barbara Kennedy, 45, Canton, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility for six months to 18 months, fines, costs of $1,000, for the offense of Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance. Agents of the Bradford County Narcotics Task Force arrested Kennedy for the offense in July 2014.

Officer Timothy Cahill of the Athens Borough Police Department arrested Ruest for the offense in February 2013.

Crissanna Parker, 18, Towanda, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Criminal Mischief, a summary offense. Parker was sentenced to pay a fine of $100 and pay restitution of $2,506.05. Sergeant David Lantz of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Parker for the offense on July 22, 2013.

Cody Rosich, 30, Athens, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Rosich will be sentenced on Jan. 15, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Derek Dekar of the Athens Borough Police Department arrested Rosich for the offense in April 2014.

Steven Neilson, 44, Monroeton, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Recklessly Endangering another person, a misdemeanor of the second degree, Disorderly Conduct, a misdemeanor of the third degree, Resisting or Interfering with an Officer, a summary offense and Control of Property, also a summary offense. Neilson will be sentenced on Jan. 15, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer David Allen of the Pennsylvania State Game Commission arrested Neilson for the offenses in June 2014.

Robert Hurlbert, 35, Canton, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Hurlbert will be sentenced on Jan. 15, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Tyler Brackman of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Hurlbert following investigation of an incident that occurred in Canton Township.

Michael Phillips, 44, Tunkhannock, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Retail Theft, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Phillips will be sentenced on Jan. 15, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer John Fedorchak of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Phillips for the offense on June 22, 2014.

Shawn MacDougall, 37, Troy, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree and Driving under Suspension, a summary offense. MacDougall will be sentenced on Jan. 8, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper James Dughi of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested MacDougall following investigation of an incident that occurred in Sheshequin Township on July 5, 2014.

Carlena Westbrook, 45, Towanda, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of nine months. While on probation Westbrook will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Westbrook must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and she will lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days.

Officer Jason Serfas of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Westbrook for the offense in Athens Township.

Clayton Tillotson, 20, Canton, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of nine months. While on probation Tillotson will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Tillotson must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 90 days. Officer Trey Kurtz of the Canton Borough Police Department filed the charges on Aug. 9, 2014 for the offense in Canton Borough.

Joseph Bruno, 22, Waverly, N.Y., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation Bruno will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Bruno must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Officer Andrew Stevens of the Athens Borough Police Department filed the charges on May 20, 2014 for the offense in Athens Borough.

Brandon Schmidt, 33, Sayre, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of nine months. While on probation Schmidt will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Schmidt must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Officer George Nichols of the Sayre Borough Police Department filed the charges on Sept. 14, 2014 for the offense in Sayre Borough.

Timothy Glisson Jr., 20, Athens, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of nine months. While on probation Glisson will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Glisson must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel; and he will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 90 days. Officer Richard Horton of the Athens Township Police Department filed the charges on Aug. 29, 2014 for the offense in Athens Township.

Nathan Beers, 22, Towanda, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of nine months. While on probation Beers will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Beers must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel; and he will also lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days. Criminal mischief charges filed

State police at Towanda said criminal mischief charges were filed following an incident that occurred at 3 a.m. Nov. 25 on North Street in Albany Township.

Police said Derek James Doss, 26, of New Albany, became angry because a family member moved the television from his bedroom. He then smashed a mirror, valued at $200, in the bathroom.

Police said the victim was a 61-year-old man who lives at the location.

The charges were filed in District Court 42-3-03.

Man charged

State police at Towanda said a Philadelphia man is facing a charge related to "persons not to possess firearms" through District Court 42-3-01.

Police said they were advised that Robert Richard Zammer, 54, of Philadelphia was a felon not to possess a firearm. According to police, he was on Zammer Road at 7:45 p.m. Nov. 8 in Armenia Township in possession of firearms. Police said he was found to be in possession of several firearms, as well as ammunition.

Theft reported

State police at Towanda said an 85-year-old Troy woman was contacted by telephone at noon Oct. 30 on Fallbrook Road in Troy with a request to make a money transfer.

According to police, the caller identified himself or herself as the police and told the woman that her granddaughter had been arrested, and requested a money transfer via Green Dot Money Pak cards, which the woman provided. Police said her granddaughter had never been arrested.

Two-vehicle crash

MONROE TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Roosevelt Avenue, near the entrance to Weis Markets at 4:50 p.m. Saturday.

State police at Selinsgrove say a 2007 Toyota Yaris, driven by Cecelia A. Sosnoskie, 27, of Paxinos, was traveling south on Roosevelt Avenue approaching the intersection with the entrance to Weis Markets, while a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Tracey M. Witmer, 49, of Paxinos, was traveling north on Roosevelt Avenue and attempting to turn left into the supermarket's parking lot. According to police, the Wrangler struck the Yaris.

No one was injured in the crash but Witmer's vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

Decorations stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police are investigating the theft of Christmas decorations from a Ranshaw home between Friday night and Saturday morning.

A large animated drummer boy and toy soldier were found near Race and Hunter streets at 1:32 a.m. Saturday. The decorations were part of a display at the home of James Madden, 132 Main St., Ranshaw. The decorations, valued at $800, sustained extensive damage, police said.

Harassment

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jennifer Conover, 34, of 331 S. Rock St., Shamokin, was cited for harassment by Coal Township Patrolman Chris Lapotsky related to a confrontation inside Walmart at 2 p.m. Dec. 1.

Conover is accused of confronting Jasmine Deitz, 18, of Clair Street, Elysburg, inside the store and punching her in the face. Deitz was not injured.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Amir Roach, 28, and Ashley Groff, 24, both of Shamokin, were charged with misdemeanor retail theft and criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft from Walmart Supercenter, Route 61.

Roach and Groff are accused of making fraudulent returns on three different occasions between Oct. 26 and Nov. 10. The merchandise is valued at $433.88.

Endangers child

ATLAS - A couple have been charged by Patrolman Kelly Campbell with endangering the welfare of a child, possession of drug paraphernalia, causing a public nuisance and disorderly conduct involving an Oct. 8 incident at their former home in Atlas.

Amber Marie Miller, 25, and Matthew Edward Derr, 23, formerly of 323 W. Saylor St., Atlas, are accused of possessing Spice, glass smoking pipes and other drug paraphernalia in the presence of Miller's 4-year-old daughter and allowing the child to live in deplorable conditions. Police said the girl had stains all over her outfit and writings over her legs.

Police said their former residence was condemned.

Miller and Derr were on probation at the time of the offenses.

Derr was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $50,000 bail. His girlfriend, who is currently in Lebanon County Prison, is awaiting arraignment on the charges.

Assault

DANVILLE - Kelly Losiewicz, 27, of Coal Township, was allegedly assaulted Oct. 10 by a 17-year-old Hellerstown girl held at the North Central Secure Treatment Unit in Montour County. A juvenile charge of aggravated assault was filed against the teen by state police at Milton, troopers said in a press release issued Tuesday.

Theft charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Cara Rose Yuskoski, 25, of 234 School St., Natalie, was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones on charges of theft, receiving stolen property, possession of morphine and possession with intent to deliver morphine.

Yuskoski is charged by Cpl. David Donkochik  with stealing two bottles of morphine containing approximately 110 pills belonging to her grandmother, Linda Yuskoski. Police said the theft occurred Feb. 4, 2013, at 111 S. Almond St.

Cara Yuskoski was released on $25,000 bail.

Burglary charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Stephen Francis Kruskie, 20, of 208 W. Third St., Mount Carmel, was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Kruskie allegedly used a driver's license to break into the apartment of Tyler Hill at 300 W. Third St., Apt. 4, on Nov. 28 and stole a PS4 video game valued at $450 and three-related games valued at $60 each.

Kruskie was released on $20,000 bail.

Man accused of illegal sale or transfer of firearms

A Rome man has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton to answer a charge of illegal sale or transfer of firearms.

According to information filed in Wheaton's office, Rodney Lee Babcock, 52, of Rome, has also been charged by state police with unsworn falsification to authorities.

Babcock has been accused of filling out a Firearms Transaction form at Bell's Gun Shop in Orwell Township and answering "no" to the question if he had a restraining order issued against him. State police report that Babcock has an active restraining order against him issued in Hunterdon County, N.J.

Police reported that after they received the information about the restraining order, they contacted Babock by telephone, who confirmed it. Babcock explained that it had been issued so long ago he hadn't thought about it when filling out the firearms report.

Babock is scheduled to appear for his preliminary hearing on Jan. 6.

Woman charged with vehicle theft

A Towanda woman was ordered incarcerated in lieu of bail recently after being accused of car theft.

According to the affidavit filed with Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, Breanna Nicole Herman, 21, of Towanda, has been charged by state police with theft by unlawful taking; and unauthorized use of an automobile.

Herman is accused of driving a 2001 Lincoln Navigator owned by Phillip Herman on Sept. 11, when the owner was on vacation, without his permission. Breanna Herman was arrested by state police, and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, who ordered the defendant incarcerated at the Bradford County Correctional Facility.

Man charged with terroristic threats

A Sugar Run man was arrested by state police recently on a charge of terroristic threats.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, Levi Robert Foux, 33, has also been charged with harassment. Foux is accused of threatening to kill his wife, Laura Foux, around 2:10 a.m. on Dec. 3, during a domestic dispute. Police reported that when they later interviewed Laura Foux, she informed them that her husband had struck her about the body with a closed fist, attempted to grab her throat, pulled her hair, and struck her in the head. Police also reported interviewing Levi Foux, who denied that he threatened to kill his wife, and that he had not attempted to grab her by the throat.

Levi Foux was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Man charged with failure to register a motor vehicle

A Rome man was arrested by state police recently on a charge of failing to register a motor vehicle with the proper authorities.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Albert Michael Harvey, 39, was charged with the above offense on Nov. 26, following a motor vehicle accident on North Rome Road around 5 p.m. Police said they spoke with Harvey, identified as the driver of the vehicle, who explained he obtained the car, a Buick La Cross, from Stevensville Auto Body, but he had not registered himself as the vehicle's owner as required by law.

Harvey was arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Woman uninjured following accident

A Sugar Run woman was uninjured in a recent motor vehicle accident that occurred on North Street in Terry Township.

According to state police, the crash occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Dec. 3 when Laura Foux, 31, applied the brakes and swerved the 2012 Dodge Caravan she was driving to avoid a deer that had entered the roadway, causing her to lose control of her vehicle and strike a tree. Foux was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, and was issued a citation for crossing the center lane of traffic.

Man uninjured after striking deer

A Towanda man was uninjured in a recent motor vehicle accident that took place on State Route 187 near Lake Road in Wysox Township.

According to state police, William Wright Jr., 42, was driving a 2013 Ford Fiesta around 5:14 p.m. on Dec. 8 when a deer entered the roadway and was struck by the vehicle Wright was driving. The vehicle needed to be towed from the scene and Wysox EMS responded to the crash.

DUI charges

The following people were recently charged in Bradford County with driving while under the influence:

Cheryl Ann Payne, 52, of Wyalusing, has also been charged by state police with not possessing her registration card while operating a vehicle; careless driving; and possessing an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a moving vehicle.

State police reported investigating a woman sleeping in her vehicle on Nov. 5 around 9:35 p.m. on state Route 409 near the intersection of Brinks Billings Creek Road in Wyalusing. The person was identified as Payne, who was taken into custody and transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda where she refused to submit to a blood test. Payne has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on Jan. 6.

Joseph Keezer Jr., 45, of New Albany, has also been charged by state police with careless driving; and crossing the center line of traffic.

Keezer was arrested following a traffic stop in Wysox on Nov. 15, around 10:15 p.m. Keezer was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Keezer's blood alcohol content was .119 percent on the day of his arrest.

Keezer has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on Jan. 6.

Assault, robbery

MOUNT CARMEL - Three women remain jailed in Northumberland County Prison following an alleged assault and robbery at a borough apartment early Monday morning.

Sieara Serate, 19, of 213 N. Gilbert St., Shenandoah, Brittany M. Garrett, 23, of 168 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, and Tanya C. Morris, 34, of 307 W. Coal St., Shenandoah, are charged by Patrolman Justin Stelma with felony counts of criminal conspiracy and robbery, misdemeanor counts of theft, receiving stolen property and simple assault, and summary counts of criminal mischief and harassment.

They were arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones, who set bail at $50,000 each. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for Wednesday.

A 17-year-old Shenandoah female faces related charges in Northumberland County Juvenile Court.

Cara Rose Yuskoski, 25, of 38 N. Maple St., told police the four confronted her at her apartment about 12:40 a.m. She claims three restrained her, allowing Morris to punch her in the nose. They allegedly ransacked her apartment before fleeing with an XBox 360, iPhone 4s, cash, jewelry, perfume and makeup.

Serate, Morris and the teenager gave different accounts, saying Yuskoski was holding the teen's belongings that she left in Yuskoski's car earlier in the day. Police say Morris admitted striking Yuskoski. They reportedly found the teen's car keys in Yuskoski's garbage can and her bookbag in the apartment's living room, but nothing else, and left with the gaming console and other items.

Guilty plea

MOUNT CARMEL - Ronald W. Goepfert, 33, of 107 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty Wednesday to summaries of driving under suspension, speeding and failing to fasten a child in a booster seat and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to serve 15 days in county prison and pay a fine and costs totaling $1,404.50.

An additional charge of providing false identification to police was withdrawn.

Police reported Goepfert, who is already in Northumberland County Prison, has been convicted of driving under suspension approximately 20 times, which constituted the jail sentence.

Goepfert was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski in connection with a Nov. 11 incident on Route 901 in Locust Gap.

Retail theft

SELINSGROVE - Chelsea Leigh Troutman, 20, of Kulpmont, was charged by state police with retail theft for allegedly taking merchandise valued at $192.21 from Walmart Supercenter in Monroe Township at 2:05 p.m. Monday.

An unidentified Towanda woman was recently the victim of debit card fraud.

According to state police, the incident occurred as actor(s) obtained the 36-year-old victim's bank debit card information on Nov. 19 and used it to make numerous transactions in the state of New York. Anyone with information is asked to call the Towanda State Police at (570)-265-2186.

Man accused of possession of drug paraphernalia

According to state police, the incident occurred when Cory David Briggs, 29, of Gillett was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia at approximately 11:40 p.m. on Nov. 2 in Monroeton. Charges were filed through the Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office.

Unidentified person flees scene of crash

An unidentified person recently fled the scene of an accident that occurred on State Route 706 near Merry All Cemetery Road in Wyalusing Township.

According to state police, the crash occurred at approximately 8:55 a.m. as the driver was traveling west on State Route 706. The driver went off the roadway on the west shoulder and struck a utility pole. The vehicle then fled the scene of the crash.

Woman charged with access device fraud

Johnnie Sue Coats, 31, of Wyalusing, faces a preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. Dec. 16 on a charge of access device fraud for incidents on Aug. 1 and Aug. 6 at Dandy Mini Marts in Wysox Township, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton of Wysox.

The papers note that Coats pumped nine gallons of high octane gas, totaling $35.09, on Aug. 1 and 6.48 gallons of high octane gas, totaling $25, into her personal vehicle, using her company gas card from Futures, knowing she did not have permission to use the card to fill anything but company vehicles.

Wheaton said she was sent a summons.

Woman faces drug charges in Towanda

A Sayre woman was recently accused of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance.

According to information filed by state police with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, Heather Marie Allen, 31, is also accused of criminal use of a communication facility; endangering the welfare of a child; and possession of a controlled substance.

The accusations stem from a series of incidences in which Allen twice allegedly sold a Fentanyl patch to another individual in Towanda, according to state police, with the first incident occurring on June 27. The second incident, which occurred on July 29, allegedly occurred in the presence of a child.

Man accused of theft in Burlington

A Burlington man faces charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the state police with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, Robert Scott Swackhammer, 19, allegedly stole $800 from a female victim's wallet at a residence in Burlington Township on June 23. On Sept. 24, Swackhammer allegedly confessed to state police to taking the money prior to a polygraph examination.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 7.

Ulster man charged with simple assault

An Ulster man faces charges of simple assault and harassment following an incident that occurred on Dec. 10 in Ulster Township.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the state police with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, Russell Willis Vanderpool Jr., 45, shoved a female victim into a wall-mounted gas fireplace, which rendered the victim unconscious, following a verbal argument. According to police, Vanderpool said that he pushed the victim after she had pushed him.

Vanderpool was arraigned by Clark and bail was set at $2,500. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17.

Man charged with theft in Towanda

According to information filed by the state police with the Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, Joseph Lee Pierce, 31, faces charges of theft by unlawful taking after allegedly stealing packages that had been delivered to the residence of Amanda Lynne Tunnicliff in Towanda on Dec. 1. The value of the items stolen was approximately $108.

Pierce has been issued a summons for his preliminary hearing on Jan. 21.

Man faces drug-related charges following incident in Monroeton

A Dushore man was recently charged with possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance; criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance; possession of a controlled substance; and criminal use of a communication facility.

According to information filed by state police with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, Dustin Michael Crawford-Albright, 21, allegedly helped organize the sale of three grams of cocaine to another individual on Berwick Turnpike Road near Monroeton around 2:55 p.m. on Feb. 11.

Maine man faces DUI charges

David Leighton, 37, of Windham, Maine, has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol; failure to use his turning signals; failure to obey traffic signs; and operating an unregistered vehicle, according to state police.

According to information provided by the state police to Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, state police observed Leighton allegedly fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of State Street and Main Street in Towanda at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Nov 22. State police then observed Leighton allegedly fail to use his turning signal after veering to the left side of the roadway on Second Street. After being questioned by police, Leighton said that he had had "about three beers" over the prior three hours. After agreeing to a field sobriety test, Leighton was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda for a blood alcohol test. The test eventually revealed Leighton's blood alcohol content to be 0.155 percent on the day of his arrest.

Leighton has been sent a summons for a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 16.

Man charged with driving under the influence in Towanda

Matthew David Turner, 22, of Sugar Run has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol; failure to use his turning signals; windshield obstruction; and exceeding vehicle sound level, according to state police.

According to information provided by the state police to Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Nov. 15, Turner was allegedly observed by state police activating his turn signal after he began turning onto the Merrill Parkway from State Street. State police then pulled over Turner after not being able to identify his temporary vehicle registration due to the tinted rear window of the vehicle. After failing a field sobriety test, Turner was placed under arrest and taken to Memorial Hospital in Towanda, where his blood alcohol content was eventually revealed to be 0.193 percent on the day of the incident.

A summons for Turner's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 2.

Timothy Blood, 43, of Wyalusing, Pa., was resentenced following fines, costs and restitution to imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility for 12 months to 36 months and a fine of $1,000, he will also lose his driver's license for six months for the offense of Manufacture of a Controlled Substance, a felony and three counts of Unlawful Killing of Big Game, a misdemeanor of the first degree and two misdemeanors.

Robert McGrath, 34, Athens, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility from six hours to 12 months, and fines, costs, restitution of $500, for the offense of Disorderly Conduct, a misdemeanor of the third degree and Public Drunkenness, a summary offense. Joshua Hoey, 18, Athens, Pa., charged with the offense of Theft from a Motor Vehicle, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation Hoey will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use.

Additionally, Hoey must perform 40 hours of community service and pay restitution as ordered. Officer Derek Watkins of the Sayre Borough Police Department filed the charges on Sept. 1, 2014 for the offense in Sayre Borough.

Michael Nichols, 45, Athens, Pa., charged with the offense of Simple Assault, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 24 months. While on probation Nichols will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use.

Additionally, Nichols must perform 60 hours of community service. Officer Nikki Hoffman of the Athens Borough Police Department filed the charges on Sept. 17, 2014 for the offense in Athens Borough.

Michael Micklas, 28, Rome, Pa., charged with the offense of Firearm not to be Carried without License, was accepted into the ARD Program and place on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation Micklas will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Micklas must perform 40 hours of community service. Deputy Patrick Butkiewicz of the Bradford County Sheriff's Department filed the charges on Aug. 14, 2014 for the offense in Litchfield Township.

Cody Wesneski, 22, Canton, Pa., charged with the offense of Theft, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation Wesneski will be subject to supervision be the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Wesneski must perform 40 hours of community service and pay restitution that was ordered by the court. Trooper Christopher Schelling of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Wesneski for the offense on Aug. 18, 2014 in Canton Borough.

Haley Edsell, 18, Towanda, Pa., charged with the offense of Theft, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation Edsell will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Edsell must perform 40 hours of community service and pay court ordered restitution. Steven Wheeler, 49, Sayre, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation Wheeler will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Wheeler must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Officer Derek Dekar of the Athens Borough Police Department filed the charges on Aug. 30, 2014 for the offense in Athens Borough.

Charles Heasley, 35, Gillett, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation Heasley will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Heasley must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Trooper James Dughi of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Heasley for the offense. Charges were filed on Aug. 3, 2014, for the offense in South Creek Township.

Joshua Rundell, 34, Rome, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation Rundell will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Rundell must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days. Trooper Joshua Fisher of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Rundell for the offense. Charges were filed on May 24, 2014 for the offense in Herrick Township.

Julie Hamilton, 25, Monroeton, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation Hamilton will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Hamilton must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and Hamilton will lose Pennsylvania driving privileges for 60 days. Crash near Burnside

COAL TOWNSHIP - Richard Drumheiser Jr., 53, of 529 S. Market St., Shamokin, escaped injury after crashing a 1993 Nissan sport-utility vehicle into a tree along Route 125 about 5:40 a.m. Saturday.

Coal Township Patrolman Chris Lapotsky said Drumheiser was driving south near Burnside when his vehicle crossed the northbound lane and drove off the roadway. Township firefighters assisted in rescuing Drumheiser from the Nissan. It came to rest partially on its passenger side, and was towed. Drumheiser was taken by AREA Services Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for a medical evaluation.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Ronald Kwiatkowski, 68, of 1459 Tioga St., told Coal Township police someone drove into a brick fixture near his driveway entrance, damaging the fixture and an Eagle statue. Damages were estimated at $450, according to township Patrolman Chad Yoder. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-644-0333.

Cash found

COAL TOWNSHIP - An undisclosed sum of money was found near the Driver's License Center in the Anthra Plaza lot. Coal Township Patrolman Chad Yoder said the money was found about four months ago before being turned in. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-644-0333.

Disobeys stop sign

COAL TOWNSHIP - Bonnie Pelphrey, 39, of Shamokin, was driving a 2002 Kia van west on Mulberry Street about 5:20 p.m. Friday when she failed to obey a stop sign at Bay Street and crashed into a Toyota Corolla driven by Tara Duzick, 30, of Coal Township, according to Coal Township Patrolman Matthew Hashuga.

Duzick was driving north and had the right of way, police said. Pelphrey's vehicle sustained front-end damage and was driven away. Duzick's vehicle sustained damaged to the passenger side and was towed.

Snow crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - Dawn Scicchitano, 58, of Coal Township, was driving a 2011 Nissan Xterra on Washington Boulevard about 6:55 a.m. Thursday when she lost control on the snow-covered roadway and crashed into a row of five News-Item delivery boxes, according to Patrolman Chad Yoder. The crash occurred at the Route 225 intersection. Scicchitano escaped injury. Her vehicle sustained minor scratches to its front end.

Two vehicle accident occurs in Dushore

There were no injuries after a two vehicle accident occurred at approximately 11:37 a.m. on Dec. 11 in the borough of Dushore.

According to the state police of Laporte, the crash occurred when the unidentified driver of a 2003 Chrysler Town & Country was traveling north on PA-487 and, after missing the turn onto Cherry Street, began traveling in reverse and backed into the 2003 Nissan sedan that was following.

The driver of the Chrysler Town & Country was charged with limitations on backing.

Rifle lost near Elkland

According to the state police of Laporte, a Winchester Model 70 rifle was lost around 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 10 on McCarty Driscoli Road approximately one mile from State Route 4009. Anyone who locates the rifle is asked to contact the Laporte State Police.

Two uninjured after vehicle rolls onto roof

Two Washington, Pa. men were uninjured after a single vehicle crash occurred around 2 a.m. on Dec. 12 in Davidson Township, Sullivan County.

According to Laporte state police, Cody A. Smith, 27, was driving a 2004 Ford F-150 on Whiskey Run Road when slippery road conditions prevented him from stopping at the intersection of Christian Camp Road, causing the truck to travel across the intersection, over an embankment and into a ditch approximately 12 feet down, causing the vehicle to roll onto its roof. Both Smith and his passenger, Lance Gerber, 29, were wearing their seat belts.

No charges were filed as a result of the crash.

Police investigating indecent assault in Towanda

State Police are investigating allegations of indecent assault occurring in Towanda.

According to police, a juvenile female victim alleges that she was touched inappropriately by someone known to her at various times from August of 2011 to October of 2013.

Three transported to hospital following crash

Three people from Towanda were recently involved in a one vehicle crash that took place in Asylum Township around 2:23 p.m. on Dec. 11, resulting in all three being transported to Robert Packer Hospital for minor injuries.

According to police, Jeremiah J. Chilson, 26, was traveling south on Old Mill Park Road with two passengers, 28-year-old Lena Everitt and a 1-year-old female, when Chilson's 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 hit a patch of slush, causing the vehicle to cross the center line of traffic, strike a utility pole and then a ditch before becoming overturned.

Chilson was charged with driving too fast for conditions and Towanda Memorial EMS responded to the scene.

Arrest warrant issued for Towanda man

State police have issued a warrant for Duane Demellier, 34, for failing to comply with sexual offender requirements a felony of the first degree. Police say Demellier moved out of his registered address between Oct. 16 and Dec. 10 without notifying the police within the required three business days. Anyone with information on Demellier's whereabouts is asked to call the state police at (570)-265-2186.

Man charged with probation violation in Towanda

A Texas man was recently charged with violating his probation in Towanda on Dec. 11.

According to state police, Joshua James Swingle, 23, was wanted in Parker County, Texas, regarding an active arrest warrant for probation violation stemming from a previous felony offense.

Swingle was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and was subsequently remanded to the Bradford County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Criminal mischief occurs in Wysox

According to state police, unknown actor(s) caused damage to a vehicle belonging to Tammy May Devine, 47, of Wysox between the times of 1 p.m. on Oct. 9 and 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 10. while the vehicle was parked on Golden Mile Road.

Towanda man accused of vandalizing vehicle

According to state police, Elias John Harrigan, 20, allegedly used a pocketknife to slash a tire and scratch the driver's side door of a 2005 Toyota Camry belonging to Rikki Cole, 40, of Towanda, at the Bradford Towne Center in Wysox on Nov. 22.

Harrigan has been charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct as a result of the incident.

Disorderly conduct

RANSHAW - Charges of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness were filed by Patrolman Dave Sage against Thomas J. Feudale, 49, of 545 Sixth St., rear, Ranshaw, involving an incident shortly before 8 p.m. Friday at Sixth and Main streets.

Police reported Feudale was walking in and out of traffic with a staggered gait while carrying a beer can when the Shamokin Rotary Club Santa sleigh was stopped in the area greeting children and other area residents.

Police said Feudale remained in the area and his actions caused concern, prompting police to take him into custody without incident. He was transported to a detention cell at Coal Township Police Station before being taken to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury. He was later arraigned on the charges and posted bail.

Theft from vehicle

COAL TOWNSHIP - Michael Kovack, 61, of Coal Township, told police someone ransacked his vehicle and removed gift cards for Boscov's and Lowe's.

Police said the theft occurred between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday near Kovack's residence.

T-bone accident

KULPMONT - No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle, T-bone crash Monday morning at the intersection of Eighth and Chestnut streets.

Chief of Police Michael Pitcavage reported Kenneth S. Ross, 51, of 733 Pine St., Kulpmont, was stopped for a stop sign on Eighth Street at 11:42 a.m. when he attempted to slowly pull out his 2001 Ford Ranger to make a right turn onto Chestnut Street. At that point, Pitcavage said a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven west on Chestnut Street by David Aaron Avellino, 26, of 134 Arizona Drive, Den-Mar Gardens, collided with Ross' truck despite attempts by Avellino to slow down and avoid a crash.

Ross' truck sustained severe damage to its driver's side and was towed from the scene by Dave's Auto Body of Shady Acres. Avellino's vehicle sustained minor front-end damage and was able to be driven from the scene.

Pitcavage said Ross will be cited for an inspection violation.

Assisting at the accident were Kulpmont firefighters and fire police.

The scene was cleared at 12:15 p.m.

Endangers children

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Matthew Dillman has charged Randy Wade Dimpfl, 44, of 38 N. Maple St., Apt. 5, Mount Carmel, with endangering the welfare of children and possession of drug paraphernalia involving an Aug. 31 incident at his apartment.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Dimpfl possessed a syringe in his bathroom where two small children would have access to it.

Dimpfl is currently an inmate at SCI-Coal Township.

False identification

KULPMONT - Diondre Zaire Watts, 25, of 1025 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman David Tomtishen with providing police with false identification involving an Oct. 25 incident.

Police reported Watts gave Tomtishen a false name and date of birth when confronted after walking out of a wooded area into a parking lot behind Holy Angels Church on Scott Street.

Fugitive arrested

MOUNT CARMEL - Wilburn Harden Denman, 46, of 50 N. Maple St., Apt. 301, Mount Carmel, was arrested Wednesday by Patrolman William Adamski for being a fugitive from justice.

Police said Denman, who was wanted by authorities in Austin, Texas, for unauthorized use of a vehicle, was taken into custody following a domestic dispute at 8:40 p.m. at his apartment.

Denman was incarcerated at Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury, after failing to post $50,000 bail at his arraignment Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.

Simple assault

ATLAS - Jason David White, 21, of 306 E. Columbia Ave., Atlas, was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski with two counts each of simple assault and disorderly conduct and one count of harassment.

Police reported White is accused of assaulting his girlfriend, Crystal L. Vankirk, on Dec. 6 at White's residence.

White remains in Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury, after failing to post $25,000 bail at his arraignment Wednesday.
