Harassment

LYKENS - State police in Lykens filed harassment charges against Ronald G. Gray, 59, of Halifax, after a Jan. 12 incident in Middle Paxton Township.

Police said an unidentified 32-year-old from Elizabethville stopped along Route 225 around 5 p.m. to remove a deer from the roadway. Gray pulled his vehicle over in front of the victim and yelled that he wanted the deer, police said. Gray then got in the victim's face and stood over the victim's shoulder in an attempt to be intimidating, police said. He also bumped the victim with his right arm and shoulder, police said.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Shawna Houser, 21, of 328 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Chris Lapotsky with retail theft and trespassing involving a 5 p.m. Dec. 19 incident at Walmart Supercenter in which she allegedly stole $149.01 in merchandise.

Disorderly conduct

SELINSGROVE - State police charged an unidentified 16-year-old with disorderly conduct for intentionally jumping on a merchandise prop at Walmart Supercenter, Monroe Township, causing merchandise to be scattered on the floor shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday.

Crash

SELINSGROVE - A Herndon teenager was involved in two consecutive accidents Monday morning.

State police said Edward L. Easton Jr., 18, of Herndon, was stopped along Route 15 near County Line Road after he crashed against a guide rail shortly before 9 a.m. Monday, when Chelsea A. Oberlin, 26, of Middleburg, lost control of her vehicle and struck the rear end of his car.

Neither driver was injured and both vehicles sustained minor damage. Oberlin was cited for failing to obey safe speeds. Police did not say if Easton was cited for the original crash.

Retail theft

SELINSGROVE - State police cited an unidentified male from Sunbury with retail theft after he removed numerous items from Walmart Supercenter, Monroe Township, and then left without paying around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Fugitive of justice

State police at Towanda said it was found at 1:47 p.m. Jan. 6 that Kenneth Anthony Shuss, 41, of Campbell, N.Y. was wanted for a probation violation in Steuben County, N.Y., and was detained and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy. Police said Shuss was committed to the Bradford County Correctional Facility in West Burlington Township, where he awaits extradition.

Driver cited in crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - Raymond P. Glessner, 48, of 817 Market St., Ashland, was cited for careless driving following a two-car accident at 11:36 a.m. Tuesday at Route 61 and State Route 8001.

Coal Township Police report Glesser was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Impala on State Route 8001 toward Route 61 north and was stopped behind a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Suzanne Leffler, 50, of 194 Roadarmel Lane, Paxinos, which was stopped for a red light.

After looking to the left to see of any traffic was traveling on Route 61, Glessner failed to look if the Leffler vehicle had moved. He hit Leffler's vehicle, which was still stopped.

Both vehicles sustained minor damage and neither driver, nor Glesser's passenger, a 14-year-old female, was injured.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Shane Williams, 19, of 1111 N. Pearl St., Shamokin, was charged with three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after Coal Township Police suspected he was under the influence during a vehicle stop at a sobriety checkpoint on Route 61 near the former Sam Bressi Motors Sept. 20. Police said Williams had a blood alcohol level of .116 percent.

Littering

COAL TOWNSHIP - William J. McLaughlin Jr., 44, of 1103 E. Race St., Coal Township, was cited by township police for scattering rubbish.

Officers said McLaughlin allegedly took household rubbish to the Big Mountain area and deposited it off the main road. McLaughlin agreed to remove the rubbish.

The citation was filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic, of Shamokin.

Criminal trespass

SNYDERTOWN - State police at Stonington cited four juveniles for criminal trespass at a property at the intersection of Furman Road and Fox Road at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Scattering rubbish

COAL TOWNSHIP - Kenneth Pilkus Jr., 24, of 519 E. Kase St., Shamokin, was charged by Coal Township Police with scattering rubbish for allegedly dumping and burning household trash in a wooded area near Bunker Hill ballfield on property owned by Susquehanna Coal Company.

Man arrested after domestic argument

Athens Borough Police responded to an emergency call made by a female victim of domestic abuse on Dec. 20 at a residence on Central Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers spoke to the female victim who alleged that 29-year-old Ryan C. Hammond of Athens, had entered her residence and proceeded to argue with her verbally about money.

The argument then escalated into a physical altercation, with Hammond allegedly throwing the victim on to a coffee table and then picked up a knife and stated, "I can't take this anymore." At this time, the victim barricaded herself in the bathroom and dialed 911.

Police on scene arrested Hammond, based on the victim's statement and he was charged with simple assault and harassment by strike, kick or shove. He was arraigned on Dec. 20 by Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton and received $30,000 bail. He is set to answer to these charges at a preliminary hearing on March 31.

Theft of shoes results in charges

On Nov. 11, Athens Township Police responded to a reported theft of sneakers from the Olympia Store in the K-Mart Plaza. Upon arrival, store employees relayed that a white male, approximately 25 to 26, entered the store and tried on several pairs of shoes. He then asked for another pair of shoes, located in the back of the store. As the employee went to grab the merchandise, the individual left the store wearing the stolen sneakers, valued at approximately $75.

Clerks relayed to officers that the male had left behind a cell phone, but it was dead and unable to be turned on. The next day, officers charged the phone and called the last dialed phone number. The woman on the other line told officers the suspect was likely David M. McGuire, 33, of Lowman. The individual also described McGuire to officers and was able to correctly identify the phone which was left behind. Based on the evidence, officers located and arrested McGuire. He was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property. McGuire was arraigned on Dec. 23, before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw. He agreed to plea to retail theft and his case was moved to non-traffic court for further adjudication.

The Bradford County District Attorney, Daniel J. Barrett, reports that the following persons were recently sentenced in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

David J. Spencer Jr., 33, of Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility for three months to 24 months, fines, costs, restitution of $1,000, for the offense of Indecent Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Spencer will be a registered sex offender for 15 years. Sergeant David Lantz of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Spencer for the offense in February. The sentence was made consecutive to earlier sentences for a sentence of 24 months to 78 months.

Jeffrey Jackson, 28, of Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility for 12 months to three years, fines, costs, restitution of $1,000, for the offense of Indent Exposure, a misdemeanor of the second degree and Open Lewdness, a misdemeanor of the third degree. Trooper Miranda Musick of the Pennsylvania State Police Department arrested Jackson following investigation of an incident that occurred in Burlington Township.

Nikki Strope, 24, Wellsburg, N.Y., was sentenced to Probation supervision for a term of 24 months, fines, costs, restitution of $1,000, and buy money of $170. He will also lose his driver's license for six months, for the offense of Delivery of a controlled Substance, a felony offense. Agents of the Pennsylvania State Vice and Narcotics Unit arrested Strope following investigation of an incident that occurred in Towanda Borough on Jan. 16, 2013.

Selena Nogar, 22, Athens, Pa., was resentenced following revocation of a sentence of Probation to a term of incarceration in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 15 days to six months, fines, costs, restitution of $300.00 fine plus costs, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Sergeant James Shaw of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Nogar for the offense in September 2013.

Graham Christianson, 29, Troy, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for five months to 60 months, fines, costs, restitution of $1,500, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Trooper Mark Sadowski of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Christianson following investigation of an incident that occurred in Athens Township.

Carlton Heasley, 32, Gillett, Pa., was resentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 52 days to 12 months, fines, costs and restitution of $250, for the offense of Attempt Theft by Unlawful Taking, a misdemeanor of the third degree. Trooper Tyler Brackman of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Heasley following investigation of an incident that occurred in Sheshequin Township.

Benjamin Predmore, 31, Syracuse, N.Y., was resentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for four months to 11 months, 29 days, fines of $1,000; he will also lose his driver's license for 12 months for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol. Trooper David Pelachick of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Predmore following investigation of an incident that occurred in Wells Township.

Molly Pedro, 46, Towanda, Pa., was resentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 64 days to 12 months, fines, costs, restitution of $500, for the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Trooper Robert Hutchison of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Pedro following investigation of an incident that occurred in Towanda Township.

Rex Peters, 25, Wysox, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Criminal Trespass, a felony of the third degree. Peters will be sentenced on Feb. 12, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Joshua Fisher of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Peters following investigation of an incident that occurred in Wysox Township on July 25, 2014.

Travis Ott, 38, Canton, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Disorderly Conduct, a misdemeanor of the third degree. Ott will be sentenced on Feb. 12, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Sergeant Trey Kurtz of the Canton Borough Police arrested Ott for the offense on July 26, 2014.

Joseph Leighton, 29, Wysox, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Leighton will be sentenced on Feb. 12, 2014, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Erik Agnew, 31, Sayre, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Harassment, a summary offense.

Agnew was sentenced to a $300 fine, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Jeremy Horton of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Agnew for the offense on Sept. 4, 2014.

Heather Norton, 20, Canton, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Criminal Trespass, misdemeanor of the third degree and Harassment, a summary. Norton will be sentenced on Feb. 23, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Sarah Frock, 29, Athens, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett reported that the following persons were recently accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program in the Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Victoria Davis, 20, Towanda, Pa., charged with the offense of Theft, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation, Davis will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Davis must perform 40 hours community service. Officer Ryan Edsell of the Towanda Borough Police Department filed the charges on Aug. 20, 2014, for the offense in Towanda Borough.

Cassandra Jones, 31, Towanda, Pa., charged with Harassment, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of six months. While on probation, Jones will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Jones must perform 40 hours of community service. Detective Albert Ogden of the Towanda Borough Police Department filed charges in April 13, 2014, for the offense in Towanda Borough.

Megan Randall, 22, Rome, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation, Randall will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Randall must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel. Trooper Christopher Stecik of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Randall for the offense.

Chad Dickinson, 29, New Albany, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation, Dickinson will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Dickinson must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel. Trooper Christopher Schelling of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Dickinson for the offense.

Hulslander will be sentenced on Feb. 23, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. A no-contest plea is entered where the defendant cannot recall the event but will be held guilty and sentenced. Sergeant Trey Kurtz of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Hulslander for the offense on Dec. 8, 2014.

Howard Walter Sr., 45, Monroeton, Pa., entered a plea of nolo contendere/no contest to Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Walter will be sentenced on Feb. 12, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. A no-contest plea is entered where the defendant cannot recall the event but will be held guilty and sentenced. Trooper William McDermott of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Walter following investigation of an incident that occurred in Tuscarora Township on June 16, 2014.

Christopher Sellers, 52, Sayre, Pa., entered a plea of nolo contendere/no contest to Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Sellers will be sentenced on Feb. 12, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. A no-contest plea is entered where the defendant cannot recall the event but will be held guilty and sentenced. Indecent assault alleged

State police at Towanda said they are investigating an alleged indecent assault that is reported to have occurred between Nov. 29 and Nov. 30 in Rome Township involving a 3-year-old Athens female victim and someone known to her.

Fugitive from justice

State police at Towanda said David M. McGuire, 33, of Lowman, N.Y. was charged in Pennsylvania at 1 p.m. Jan. 6 as a "fugitive from justice" and was subsequently arraigned on those charges. Police said he will eventually be extradited to New York to answer those charges.

Police said McGuire had been incarcerated in the Bradford County Correctional Facility in West Burlington Township, and it became apparent that there was an active warrant for his arrest for petit larceny, which had been issued from the Horseheads Town Court.

Criminal mischief

MOUNT CARMEL - A 16-year-old male from Ashland was charged by Lt. Christopher Buhay with criminal mischief for causing damage to an entrance door at Compass Academy, 30 W. Third St., at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 18.

Police said the juvenile kicked the door, causing the glass to shatter.

Disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - Lt. Christopher Buhay cited Jocelyn N. Wywadis, 25, of 351 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, and Colin Wasilewski, 21, of 809 Oneida St., Shamokin, for disorderly conduct involving a fight in the area of Seventh and Oak streets at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 7.

Police said Wasilewski also was cited for driving with a suspended license.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Danielle Freitag, 27, of 18 S. Locust St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Patrolman William Adamski for harassment and disorderly conduct relating to a disturbance at 9 a.m. Jan. 6 at her residence.

Retail theft

MOUNT CARMEL - Ronald A. Willis, 26, of 67 Springside St., Locust Gap, was cited by Patrolman William Adamski for retail theft for stealing merchandise from the State Liquor Store, 136 S. Oak St., at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 17.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Nathan Olah, 25, of 406 E. Sixth St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Lt. Christopher Buhay for harassment involving a Jan. 7 disturbance at his residence in which he's accused of kicking Sarah Britton, 19, of Shamokin, causing an injury.

Driver cited

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Michael Mensch, 23, of Danville, was cited by Trooper Todd Leiby of state police at Stonington for failing to drive in a single lane relating to a one-car accident Saturday night on Snydertown Road.

Police reported Mensch was driving a 1993 Subaru Impreza east at 7:30 p.m. when he approached a 90-degree bend in the road at an unsafe speed and crashed head-on into a rock embankment off the north side of the road before coming to rest.

Mensch and his passenger, Tyler Davis, 24, of Danville, escaped injury.

Drug charge

COAL TOWNSHIP - Prenden Heintzelman, 27, of Northumberland, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Hashuga with possession of drug paraphernalia involving an incident at Walmart Supercenter at about 11 p.m. Saturday.

Police said Heintzelman was found unresponsive inside a rest room and had to be treated by emergency medical personnel. Heintzelman was later found to be in possession of small packets containing heroin residue. A syringe and spoon also were found in a trash bin in the rest room, police said.

Retail thefts

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Matthew Hashuga has cited Kathy Rosetta, 50, of Mount Carmel; Nikki Leininger, 29, of Tremont, and John May, 36, of Shamokin, for retail theft involving separate incidents at Walmart Supercenter.

Rosetta is accused of stealing $94.61 in merchandise Dec. 3.

Leininger and May are charged with stealing merchandise valued at $26.91 and $143.63, respectively, Dec. 7.

Theft of services

SHAMOKIN - Debra Campbell, 56, of 121 W. Montgomery St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for theft of services relating to a Dec. 16 incident in the 600 block of Packer Street.

Police said Campbell allowed her garbage to be dumped into a Dumpster owned by Angel Martinez, of 249 S. Vine St., Shamokin.

Condition improves

DANVILLE - The condition of Brittany Shoffler, 24, of Coal Township, who was injured in a rollover crash near Aristes Jan. 8, has been upgraded from critical to serious at Geisinger Medical Center.

Shoffler was ejected from her 2008 BMW 328XI after losing control on a patch of ice on Aristes-Ringtown Road, east of Route 42.

Drug items found

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported drug paraphernalia was found by emergency medical personnel in Shikellamy State Park at 6:15 p.m. Saturday after they responded to treat an unresponsive male.

One-vehicle accident results in DUI charges

Athens Township Police reported the arrest of 45-year-old, Raymond A. Searles, of Barton, N.Y., on Dec. 23, 2014, for several DUI related charges following a motor vehicle accident on Wilawana Road.

Officers arrived on scene and observed a pick-up truck laying on it's side against a utility pole. Running the information from the vehicle, officers determined the driver to be Searles. As they made contact with Searles, the officers noticed his unsteady balance, bloodshot glassy eyes and general odor of alcoholic beverage. Searles claimed that he had no recollection of the accident and had no idea how it occurred.

Officers asked Searles to submit to field sobriety testing, which he declined, stating he couldn't complete them.

Searles was placed under arrest and charged with DUI: general impairment, DUI: highest rate of alcohol, and driving on the right side of the roadway. He will face these charges at a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Jan. 30.

Theft

Between Dec. 14 and Dec. 20, an individual removed a Stihl orange chainsaw (serial number: 292584308) from a residence on Milan Road in Smithfield Township. Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Towanda barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police at (570) 265-2186.

Criminal mischief

Pennsylvania State Police responded to a report of damage to the weather stripping of a back door of a residence on Basket Street in Columbia Township that occurred between Dec. 16 and Dec. 17. Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Towanda barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police at (570) 265-2186.

No injuries

State police at Towanda said no one was injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 8:25 a.m. Jan. 9 on Route 14 in the area of Thorndike Drive in South Creek Township.

Police said Grant M. Snyder, 19, of Gillett was traveling north on Route 14, and was traveling on a right curve. According to police, he lost control of his Honda Accord, which left the travel lane, west of the north bound lane, for approximately 135 feet before coming to final rest in a creek, facing west.

Police said Snyder was charged with a violation of "vehicle safe speeds."

The South Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Keleher's Towing assisted on the scene.

One injured

State police at Towanda said one person was injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 7:40 a.m. Jan. 6 on Route 6 near its intersection with Lampman Drive in West Burlington Township.

Police said Sareena R. Jackson, 19, of Canton, was traveling east on Route 6 and lost traction, due to the snow-covered roadway. Once traction was lost, her Toyota Corolla crossed into the westbound lane, striking an embankment, before overturning multiple times and coming to final rest in the center of the roadway on its roof. Police said she was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and air bags did not deploy.

According to police, she suffered minor injuries during the crash and was transported to Troy Community Hospital by Western Alliance Ambulance for medical treatment. Damage to her vehicle consisted of heavy front end damage as well as damage to both sides of the vehicle and its roof that can be attributed to it overturning, police said.

No one injured

State police at Towanda said no one was injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 9 on Route 220 in Albany Township.

Police said Chris S. Biddle, 57, of Turbotville, Pa. was traveling on a left curve on Route 220, when his vehicle went off the southbound lane, and overturned. Police said he was driving 2008 Peterbilt.

Biddle was charged with a violation of "roadways laned for traffic," police said.

Driver flees

State police at Towanda said a driver crashed and fled at 5:20 p.m. Jan. 7 on Route 6 in Burlington Township.

According to police, the driver was traveling west on Route 6, went off the roadway, and struck a mailbox and a ditch. The driver, who is unknown, fled west on Route 6 without providing insurance information to the homeowner, police said.

No injuries reported

State police at Towanda said no one was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 3:55 p.m. Dec. 26 on Porter Road at its intersection with Route 6 in Sylvania.

Police said Walter A. Dixon, 32, of Troy, was stopped at a clearly-posted stop sign and was struck in the rear by another vehicle, which, after impact, turned around and left the scene. Police said Dixon and his three passengers were not injured and were all wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. The rear of his vehicle sustained visible damage and was driven from the scene.

Two defendants saw charges withdrawn against them in their preliminary hearings before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, Jan. 14.

- Charges of endangering the welfare of children and possession of drug paraphernalia against Randy W. Dimpfl, 44, of 38 N. Maple St., Apt. 5, Mount Carmel were withdrawn.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Borough Police Patrolman Matthew Dillman stemming from a Aug. 31 incident at Dimpfl's residence.

- Charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property against Cara R. Yuskoski, 25, of 234 School St., Natalie, were withdrawn by the assistant district attorney assigned to the case.

Yuskoski was charged by Mount Carmel Borough Police Cpl. David Donkochik following an investigation into an alleged theft of pills from a South Almond Street home Feb. 4, 2013.

SHAMOKIN - Three defendants pleaded guilty to charges Tuesday and were ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay fines and costs.

- Justin Simmons, 29, of 29 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs. Additional charges of possession of Spice and public drunkenness were withdrawn.

Simmons was charged by Shamokin Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with attempting to enter a home at 32 N. Shamokin St. while intoxicated, which annoyed and alarmed the occupants. Police said the disturbance occurred at about 2 a.m. Nov. 22.

- Michael D. Benjamin Jr., 20, of 217 Main St., Shenandoah, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year. An additional charge of possession of bath salts and a small amount of marijuana was withdrawn.

Benjamin was charged by Coal Township Detective Jeff Brennan in connection with an incident in the parking lot at McDonald's on Route 61.

- Ryan A. Wagner, 36, of 325 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to a summary offense of harassment and was ordered to pay a $250 fine plus costs. An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn.

Wagner was charged by Shamokin Patrolman William Zalinski with choking his live-in girlfriend, Amber Pawelczyk, and throwing her to the ground, causing her to suffer abrasions on her neck and an open cut on her right elbow.

Police said the disturbance occurred Jan. 11 at 325 S. Shamokin St.

Criminal mischief occurs in Towanda

Towanda Borough police are investigating a report of criminal mischief that occurred on Jan. 3 in Towanda.

According to police, an unknown individual used an object to break a glass door. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Towanda Borough Police Department at (570) 265-2522.

Theft reported

According to Towanda Borough police, between Jan. 7 and Jan. 8, an unknown person unlawfully entered a shed in Towanda and removed several items, including fishing rods, reels and power tools.

Criminal mischief under investigation

A case of criminal mischief that occurred between Jan. 18 and Jan. 19 in Towanda is currently being investigated by Towanda Borough police.

Man charged with harassment

According to state police, David Samuel Parker Jr., 21, of Monroeton has been charged with harassment after he arrived at a location in Franklin Township on Jan. 16 and grabbed the hair of a 21-year-old Canton woman. Charges were filed in Magisterial District Court 42-3-03.

Simple assault occurs in Towanda

Charges of simple assault have been brought against a 16-year-old male juvenile following an incident that occurred on Nov. 17 in Towanda Township.

According to state police, the male juvenile struck a 17-year-old female juvenile, which caused a laceration on her head that required stitches.

Men face theft charges

Two men have recently been charged with burglary; criminal conspiracy; criminal trespass; theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property following an incident that occurred on Jan. 13 in Monroe Township.

According to state police, Walter Reynolds Jr., 27, of Monroeton, and Curtis Ryan Clark, 25, of Wyalusing entered the residence of a 68-year-old male and took approximately $290 from an office in the residence.

Charges were filed with Magisterial District Court 42-3-03.

Harassment under investigation

Laporte state police are investigating an incident of harassment that occurred on Jan. 19 in Colley Township in Sullivan County.

According to state police, Nicholas Parker, 22, of Philadelphia was cited for harassment after he threatened physical violence against a 19-year-old Delaware man.

Police investigating aggravated indecent assault

Towanda state police are investigating a case of aggravated indecent assault after it was reported that a 19-year-old Dushore male improperly touched a 13-year-old female between December of 2009 and November of 2010. The investigation is ongoing.

No injuries in rollover

State police at Towanda said no one was injured in a roll-over crash that occurred at 7:35 p.m. Jan. 15 on Lookout Road in Columbia Township.

Police said the driver, Delbert E. Lewis Jr., 21, of Troy was traveling north and was negotiating a right curve, when he lost control of his Jeep Wrangler due to environmental conditions/ice on the roadway. According to police, the vehicle traveled onto the northbound shoulder of Lookout Road and rolled onto its driver's side. It came to final rest on its driver's side area, facing northeast.

No one injured in accident

State police at Towanda said no one was injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 10:15 p.m. Jan. 15 on Doty Hill Road in South Creek Township.

Police said the driver, Anthony Stone, 28, of Gillett, was traveling east and his Ford Taurus left its lane of travel, into the eastbound berm. According to police, he re-entered the eastbound lane, over-corrected, and entered the eastbound berm, striking a tree. Then, his vehicle struck a second tree, before coming to rest against a utility pole. It sustained disabling front end damage. Police said Stone was charged with a violation of "roadways laned for traffic."

One injured in crash

State police at Towanda said one person was injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 4:15 a.m. Dec. 14 on Route 154, just south of the intersection with Beech Flats Road, in Canton Township.

Police said the driver, Melissa S. Hartford, 38, of Roaring Branch, had a moderate injury in the crash. According to police, she was traveling south in her Ford Focus on Route 154, and her vehicle left the roadway and struck a blacktop paver that was located on the west side shoulder of the roadway. After impact, her vehicle came to a final rest in the southbound shoulder area of Route 154, facing southwest, police said.

Police said she was charged with driving under the influence.

The vehicle was towed by Canton Auto Body and the Canton Volunteer Fire Department and Western Alliance EMS assisted.

Fight charges

RANSHAW - Daren Albertson, 26, of 217 Third St., Ranshaw, and Jared Wagner, 22, of 810 N. Coal St., Shamokin, were charged by Coal Township Detective Jeff Brennan with disorderly conduct involving an Oct. 29 fight in the 200 block of Third Street. Both men were injured, police said.

Harassment

MONROE TOWNSHIP - Ray Hancock Jr., 57, of Coal Township, was cited by state police at Selinsgrove for harassment after an incident at 4 p.m. Jan. 14 at Lowe's.

Police said Hancock chestbumped a co-worker, William Astorino, 64, of Sunbury, in an attempt to start a fight.

Drug paraphernalia

KULPMONT - Mark E. Adzema, 39, of 1257 Poplar St., Kulpmont, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after he was found with wax paper packets with heroin residue and a glass pipe in his residence at 6:24 p.m. Dec. 19, police said. The charges were filed by Kulpmont Police Patrolman Joshua Pastucka. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 4 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL - State police charged Stephen A. Mekosh, 42, of 319 S. Chestnut St., Mount Carmel, with two counts driving under the influence and a variety of traffic citations following a traffic stop on Maple and Third streets at 1:35 a.m. Dec. 7.

According to police, chemical blood testing showed Mekosh's blood alcohol level to be .222 percent, more than twice the legal limit.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 4.

Hit and run

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident involving a structure which occurred sometime between 3 p.m. Monday and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said a vehicle struck the building with its bumper, shattering the vehicle's side window or rear window. The bumper of the vehicle should be a silver/bronze color and should contain noticeable damage and a broken taillight.

Terroristic threats

MOUNT CARMEL - A borough man was charged with terroristic threats and related crimes following threats made to a woman Saturday.

Borough Police Cpl. David Donkochik reported in court documents police received a call from a female who said she received threatening phone calls from her estranged husband, Gregory A. Barkus, 39, of 522 E. Avenue, Mount Carmel.

Police said Barkus allegedly discussed killing the victim and her family members and called her obscene names in the messages. Donkochik told the victim to call Barkus, who allegedly said he would kill the officer, too.

Barkus was arraigned Tuesday on the charges of terroristic threats, stalking and harassment before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel. He was released on $10,000 bail, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 28 before Jones.

DUI

RUSH TOWNSHIP - David W. Fritz, 53, of 190 D & H Ave., Danville, was charged with driving under the influence, careless driving, driving a vehicle at a safe speed and other traffic citations following a traffic stop on State Route 4001 at Ploppert Road, Rush Township at 10:10 p.m. Oct. 17.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Brian Ronk filed the charges following the investigation into a one-car accident involving Fritz. Police did chemical blood testing on Fritz and determined his blood alcohol level was .181 percent.

A preliminary hearing on the case before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, is scheduled for Feb. 18.

On Jan. 13, officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a physical domestic dispute inside a home in the 100 block of Oak Street. A report of a verbal domestic dispute sent officers to a home in the 300 block of Orchard Street. Officers were also dispatched to investigate a report of multiple vehicles hitting a utility pole in the 400 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

On Jan. 14, officers were dispatched to investigate a reported burglary in the 100 block of Drakes Lane.

On Jan. 15, no police activity was reported.

On Jan. 16, officers were dispatched to investigate a reported hit-and-run accident in the 600 block of Fallon Street. On Jan. 9, officers were dispatched to investigate a report of an opened door in the 400 block of North Main Street. Police conducted a traffic stop in the intersection of Keyser Avenue and Union Street. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI). An activated alarm sent officers to the 700 block of Keyser Avenue. Police were sent to assist emergency medical services (EMA) with a call at Riverside Elementary West.

A report of downed wires in the road sent officers to Mackie Lane. Police also assisted representatives from Lackawanna County Children and Youth in a home on Rockledge Terrace.

On Jan. 10, officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a motor vehicle accident (MVA) in the 300 block of South Main Street. Officers conducted a vehicle pursuit in the 100 block of Keyser Avenue. A report of a domestic dispute sent officers to a home in the 200 block of Union Street. Police served an arrest warrant in the 200 block of Tate Street. Officers also issued a traffic citation in the 100 block of Oak Street.

On Jan. 11, officers were dispatched to investigate a reported narcotics overdose in a home in the 900 block of Oak Street. A report of a found needle sent officers to the 700 block of West Grove Street. An animal accident sent officers to the 300 block of Oak Street.

On Jan. 12, officers issued traffic citations in the 100 block of Union Street and the 1300 block of Main Street.

On Jan. 13, officers were dispatched to investigate an animal incident in the 300 block of Oak Street. Police were given a parking complaint at headquarters. Officers were dispatched to investigate a retail theft complaint in at the Walmart on Main Street.

An MVA sent officers to the 200 block of North Main Street. Officers were sent to investigate reported property damage in the 400 block of South Main Street. An activated alarm sent officers to the 400 block of Center Street. Police were also dispatched to a home in the 200 block of Union Street to investigate a report of a missing juvenile.

On Jan. 14, officers were dispatched to investigate the violation of a protection from abuse order at the Walmart on Main Street. An MVA sent officers to the Walmart on Main Street.

On Jan. 15, officers were dispatched to inestigate a report of found property in the 100 block of Union Street. Officers were dispatched to investigate multiple MVAs on Main Street.

Police assisted a disabled motorist in the 100 block of South Keyser Avenue. A reported dog complaint sent officers to a home on Jomerlyn Drive. Police also conducted traffic stops on Loomis Avenue and in the 300 block of Oak Street.

On Jan. 16, officers were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of East Grove Street to investigate a report of domestic abuse. Police conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Bald Mountain Road. The driver was arrested for DUI, narcotics and providing false information to police.

On Jan. 17, officers were dispatched to investigate an activated alarm in the 100 block of North Main Street. A report of an abandoned vehicle sent officers to 6 South Keyser Ave. Police also assisted the fire department with a call in the Stauffer Industrial Park.

On Jan. 18, officers were dispatched to investigate a reported domestic dispute in the 100 block of Chambers Street. An MVA sent officers to the 1200 block of South Main Street. Police were sent to investigate a parking complaint in the 100 block of North Main Street. Officers issued a subpoena in the 200 block of Main Street. A harassment complaint sent officers to Jomerlyn Drive.

On Jan. 19, officers were dispatched to investigate a reported domestic dispute in a home on Kennedy Boulevard. A report of disorderly conduct sent officers to the 200 block of North Main Street. Police assisted EMS with a call on Kennedy Boulevard. Officers also conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of North Main Street.

MOOSIC POLICE: Officers responded to 60 calls between Jan. 11-17.

On Jan. 11, officers were dispatched to investigate a report of railroad gates stuck in the 700 block of Main Street. Officers assisted the fire department with a call in the 100 block of Glendale Road. Police assisted Jessup officers at 20 Washington Street. A stalking complaint sent officers to a home in the 600 block of River Street.

On Jan. 12, officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a disabled vehicle on Glenmaura National Boulevard. Officers served an arrest warrant in the 500 block of Washington Avenue.

On Jan. 13, officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a suspicious person in the 500 block of Spring Street.

On Jan. 14, officers were dispatched to investigate a hit-and-run accident in the 800 block of Davis Street. A report of someone driving under the influence sent officers to Montage Mountain Road.

On Jan. 15, officers were dispatched to investigate an animal complaint on Joyce Street. An attempted burglary sent officers to the 500 block of Gleason Drive.

On Jan. 16, officers were sent to investigate an activated alarm in the 900 block of School Street.

On Jan. 17, officers were dispatched to investigate a parking complaint in the 200 block of Main Street. A theft complaint sent officer to the 1000 block of Springbrook Avenue.

Burglary, indecent assault

SPRING TOWNSHIP - Daniel Edward Pick, 55, of 105 W. Market St., Beavertown, was charged by state police at Selinsgrove with burglary, indecent assault and other offenses relating to incidents involving a 95-year-old woman.

At 8:21 a.m. Saturday, police reported Pick unscrewed the porch lights at the victim's residence and attempted to talk her into opening the front door. Police later determined Pick was involved in similar incidents involving the same victim April 4, Nov. 24 and Dec. 31.

On April 4, police said Pick removed the front porch light, entered the home through an unlocked front door and inappropriately touched the victim, who was able to press her Life Alert necklace, prompting Pick to flee the home.

On Nov. 24, police said Pick entered the elderly woman's home by breaking the glass above a lock on the back door. Police said Pick entered the residence and once again inappropriately touched the woman before fleeing the residence when the victim again pressed her Life Alert necklace.

On Dec. 31, police said Pick's vehicle was seen in front of the victim's residence by a relative who happened to be driving past the home. Police said the witness stopped and turned his vehicle around to investigate. The witness told police a man matching Pick's description got into the vehicle and fled the scene.

Pick was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Leo Armbruster on two counts each of burglary, indecent assault and criminal trespass, four counts of stalking and loitering and prowling at night, and three counts of criminal mischief.

Pick was committed to Snyder County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Two-vehicle crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 8:12 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Mulberry and Bay streets.

Township police said a 2007 Ford Focus, driven by Shawn Bennett, of 418 N. Franklin St., Shamokin, traveled into the intersection and struck a 2009 GMC truck, driven by Robert Pancher, of 1506 Hill St., Coal Township.

No one was injured, but Bennett's vehicle had to be towed from the scene. Police cited Bennett for a stop sign violation.

Liquor law violation

COAL TOWNSHIP - The Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited Rob's Good Time Grill, 100 S. Market St., Shamokin, for selling malt or brewed beverages on credit on seven occasions between July 7 and 17.

The citation was issued Jan. 15.

The charge will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. The judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge.

Bad check

DANVILLE - Joshua Seth Kovaschetz, 34, of Danville, was charged by state police at Milton with issuing a bad check totaling $582.71 to Baylor Fuels Nov. 18.

Police said the check was in the name of Kovaschetz Transport LLC for fuel oil delivery.

One vehicle accident results in charge

Towanda State Police reported a one vehicle accident occurring on Dec. 14 on Brownback Road, just south of the Berwick Turnpike. A Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Kyle Mansueto, 23, of Granville Summit, slid off the roadway crashing into a tree before coming to rest. The crash resulted in airbag deployment and heavy front end damage. The vehicle was towed from the scene by JR's Towing and Mansueto was charged with failure to maintain tire equipment.

He will answer to the charges in non-traffic court at a later date.

Criminal mischief reported

A female resident on Leroy Mountain Road in Leroy Township reported to Pennsylvania State Police that someone had driven into her yard causing damage to her lawn on Dec. 11. State Police are looking into the report and anyone with information is asked to contact the Towanda barracks at 570-265-2186.

DUI crash results in charges

A Troy man is under arrest after a one vehicle accident occurring in the northbound lane of State Route 14 in Canton Township on Dec 2. Curtis Opdyke, 23, of Troy, lost control of the vehicle which left the road and subsequently rolled over four to five times in a field before finally coming to rest. According to Pennsylvania State Police the vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Canton Auto Body. Opdyke related to troopers that he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and suffered moderate injuries as a result of the impact. He was transported to the Troy hospital for medical treatment.

During the course of the investigation it was determined that Opdyke was driving under the influence of alcohol and later submitted to a legal blood draw which showed an illegal level of alcohol in his blood.

Opdyke was charged later with DUI general impairment. He will face these charges with Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at a later date.

Windshield damaged

Sometime between Nov. 26 and Dec. 12, a female victim in Burlington Township reported an unknown person had caused damage to the windshield of a yellow Chevrolet Cavalier which was parked at the Wheels and Dealers Auto Repair Shop on the Berwick Turnpike. Burglary reported

Sometime between Dec. 4 and Dec. 6, a couple on Ulster Road in Smithfield Township reported to Pennsylvania State Police that several items were stolen from their residence. These items include jewelry, a green Yukon ranger night vision unit and several Nikon cameras. Indecent sexual contact reported

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating incidents reported to the Bradford County Children and Youth Services regarding indecent sexual contact with a minor juvenile female occurring on Dec. 13. Upon investigation, Timothy Oliver Jr., 18, of Monkey Run Road, South Creek Township, was arrested and arraigned before Magistrate Jonathan Wilcox and was subsequently committed to the Bradford County prison in lieu of $35,000 bail for the charge of indecent assault. He will return to face this charge at a later date.

Disorderly conduct

Pennsylvania State Police responded to an incident at the SRU school parking lot in Smithfield Township on Dec. 21 and charged Kory Sponheimer, 27, of Ulster, for doing burnouts and donuts in a silver Nissan Sentra. He was issued a summary offense for disorderly conduct and a citation was filed through Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw's office.

Traffic stop results in DUI charge

Pennsylvania State Police initiated a traffic stop on Dec. 10 on State Route 6 at State Route 409 in Wyalusing Township on 74-year-old Maynard Smith of Wyalusing. Troopers reported that Smith was driving in the opposing travel lane on State Route 6, which cause the trooper to pull him over. During the course of the traffic stop Smith displayed signs of intoxication and impairment. He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda to submit to a legal blood draw.

Charges were later filed through Magisterial District Judge Timothy Wilcox's office for DUI: general impairment. Smith will return to court at a later date to plead to the charge.

One vehicle crash reported

Pennsylvania State Police responded to a one vehicle crash in Terry Township on Terrytown Mountain Road on Dec. 13. Upon their arrival, troopers found Devon L. Delamater, 20, of Wyalusing, who explained that he was traveling west on Terrytown Mountain Road and had swerved into a ditch on the north side of the roadway to avoid striking a vehicle which was traveling east. He reported wearing his safety belt at the time of the incident and was uninjured.

Retail theft reported

On Dec. 21 associates at Walmart notified Athens Township Police that they had an individual in custody who had committed the offense of retail theft and they would hold the person until police arrived. Police then found Kristy Lee Houseknecht, 26, of Athens, who, according to associates, had attempted to steal merchandise from the Walmart store.

Houseknecht was followed by an associate of the store and was observed placing several items of clothing into her purse and several items into the top of her cart in an attempt to keep them concealed. She eventually went to the self checkout where she bagged several items that were not paid for and proceeded out the doors with the stolen merchandise on the grocery end of the store. She was confronted about the stolen items and placed into custody by store employees.

At this time Athens Township Police informed Houseknecht that she was under arrest for retail theft and she would no longer be allowed on Walmart property. The value of the stolen items was $101.12.

Houseknecht will face this charge at a preliminary hearing with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Jan. 27.

Hindering apprehension charge filed

On Jan. 5, Athens Borough Police filed charges against Melissa Rose Houghtalen, 41, of Athens, after an incident occurring on Dec. 31 at her residence on Spruce Street in Athens.

Police reported that they received information that an individual wanted on an active felony warrant of arrest was located at her residence. Houghtalen then allowed officers to search the apartment at which time the individual was not located. She was then asked to notify police if the individual arrived at the residence and her failure to notify law-enforcement would result in charges for hindering apprehension.

After officers left the apartment they received a telephone call from a female stating that the individual they were looking for was present when police arrived and was hiding behind a bedroom door. Police returned to the apartment and the individual was located still hiding behind the master bedroom door.

Houghtalen told officers that she didn't know the individual was inside her apartment the whole time because she did not have her glasses on. She was subsequently charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution by harbor or concealment. She was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw and received non-monetary bail.

Access device fraud reported

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an incident of access device fraud via the theft of credit card and banking information. On Dec. 21 a victim in Litchfield Township reported that an unknown individual had used her Visa credit card information to rent a room at the Holiday Inn of Stratford City, London, England, for three nights, totaling $567.41. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Fraudulent charges to debit card made

On Dec. 25, Pennsylvania State Police were called to investigate a report of access device fraud by a victim on Ghent Hill Road in Sheshequin Township. The victim reported she discovered fraudulent charges made to her Visa debit card. The investigation determined an unknown person obtained the victim's debit card information and made purchases without her knowledge or permission. The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the state police at 570-265-2186.

Low hanging wire causes accident

Pennsylvania State Police responded to a one vehicle crash on Jan. 2, on North Rome Road in Litchfield Township. The crash occurred as the vehicle was traveling south west on North Rome Road and struck a low hanging wire which was hanging across the roadway. The vehicle came to final rest facing southwest in its lane of travel with no reported damage and no injuries.

Vehicle strikes tree

On Dec. 30, Carol A. Plate, 69, of Sayre, was driving south on South Gate Road when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree. Plate was ticketed for driving at safe speeds.

Driver loses control of vehicle

Pennsylvania State Police reported a one vehicle crash on Jan. 2 on Shaffers Notch Road in Terry Township. A vehicle, driven by Robert L. Yates, 20, of Wyalusing, was traveling on a dry road when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to travel into the oncoming lane, back into the proper lane of travel, then off the shoulder of the roadway, striking a ditch and utility pole.

Yates reported wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was not injured. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Benjamin's Towing and Yates was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.

DUI charges filed

On Dec. 17, Pennsylvania State Police troopers were dispatched to James Street in Sheshequin Township for the report of a vehicle stuck in the mud in the front yard. Through investigation it was discovered that Anthony P. Pugliese, 49, of Lancaster, drove his vehicle into the front yard from James Street in an attempt to turn around and got his vehicle stuck.

While police spoke with Pugliese, he displayed signs of impairment and intoxication. He was taken into custody for DUI and was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda in order to submit to a legal blood draw. Pugliese was subsequently charged with DUI.

Yard damaged

On Dec. 15, Pennsylvania State Police took a report of damage done to a residential yard on Pottersville Road in Orwell Township.

Driver falls asleep at wheel

Pennsylvania State Police responding to a one vehicle accident on State Route 706 in Wyalusing Township discovered Benjamin L. Jackson, 20, of Morris, had fallen asleep at the wheel and crashed his vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway striking approximately three trees with the front area and driver's side of the car causing property damage. The vehicle came to final rest facing west in the eastbound shoulder of State Route 706. Jackson was cited for careless driving.

Public drunkenness charge filed

On Dec. 28, Pennsylvania State Police observed Justin P. Arnold, 34, of Wyalusing, walking along the southbound shoulder of Route 220 near the intersection with Covered Bridge Road in Ulster Township while under the influence of alcohol. He was determined to be a danger to himself or others. Arnold was taken into custody and charged with public drunkenness.

Deer causes accident

On Dec. 29, a vehicle driven by Laura Seeley, 30, of Troy, was traveling south on the Berwick Turnpike and swerved to miss a deer standing in the road. The vehicle struck a ditch and traveled approximately 100 feet and then struck a tree. The vehicle then traveled several more feet in the ditch before crossing both lanes of travel, spun and came to rest in a field laying on its driver's side.

Both Seeley and a passenger were treated for minor injuries. Seeley was ticketed for driving at safe speeds.

Two transported to hospital following crash

A Forksville male and a 15-year-old juvenile female were transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda for evaluation of possible injuries following a one vehicle crash that occurred on Jan. 18 in Cherry Township in Sullivan County.

According to Laporte state police, Kyle McEwan, 18, was driving a 1999 Ford Escort LX north on State Route 87 when he lost control of the vehicle due to icy conditions. Police also say all four tires on McEwan's vehicle were void of treads. The vehicle was flipped onto its side and needed to be towed from the scene.

Neither McEwan nor his passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Dushore Ambulance responded to the scene and McEwan was charged with driving at an unsafe speed.

Man charged with DUI in Standing Stone

According to state police, Scott Anthony Perry, 47, of Clarks Summit was charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Dec. 9 in Standing Stone Township. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled for a later date.

Brass stolen in North Towanda

According to state police, on Jan. 20 unknown actor(s) entered a location in North Towanda Township and stole approximately $250 worth of brass belonging to a 61-year-old male. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.

DWI arrest made

Mark K. Miele, 40, of Sayre, was arrested for misdemeanor DWI at 8:28 p.m. on Jan. 15, following a traffic stop on Cayuta Avenue in Waverly. Miele was also charged with aggravated DWI and failing to keep right on the roadway. He was arrested following investigation into a report of an erratic driver.

Miele was released to appear at 4 p.m. on Jan. 22 in the Village of Waverly Justice Court to answer the charges.

Man arrested for DWI

David J. Decker, 32, of Chemung, N.Y., was arrested for misdemeanor DWI at 1:43 a.m. on Jan. 18, following a traffic stop on Chemung Street. Decker was also charged with a DWI with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent, failing to keep right on the roadway and aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree.

Decker was released to appear at 4 p.m. on Jan. 29, in the Village of Waverly Justice Court to answer the charges.

Two arrested as 'Fugitives from Justice'

David A. Crawn, 26, and David R. Kithcart III, 22, both from Waverly, were arrested at 7:48 a.m. on Jan. 11, as "Fugitives from Justice" following investigation into a burglary and a theft of a four wheeler that had just occurred in Sayre. Both were arraigned in the Village of Waverly Justice Court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail in Owego, N.Y., without bail to await further legal action.
