DUI Charges
The following people have been charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Brad Robert Middaugh, 28, of Towanda, by state police, on April 20, at the intersection of State Route 6 and State Route 1029 in Wysox Township.
He has also been charged with failing to stay in his lane, speeding, careless driving and possessing an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
On the day of his arrest, a blood test revealed Middaugh's blood alcohol content was .206 percent.
He has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at 1 p.m. on June 10 for a preliminary hearing.
Johnny Leroy Dority, 68, of Wysox, by state police, on March 28, on Lanning Creek Road near Hillside Road in Wysox Township.
Dority has also been charged with failing to wear his seat belt, possessing an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, failing to stay in his lane and careless driving.
On the day of his arrest, a blood test revealed his blood alcohol content was .132 percent.
He has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at 3:30 p.m. on May 20 for a preliminary hearing.
Henry William Bothwell, 58, of Stevensville, by state police, on April 26, on Leisure Lakes Road in Stevens Township.
Bothwell has also been charged with driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.
On the day of his arrest, a blood test revealed Bothwell's blood alcohol content was .295 percent.
State police said Bothwell was driving at 70 to 80 mph in a 40 mph zone.
He has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at 3:45 p.m. on May 20 for a preliminary hearing.
Dennis V. Randall, 31, of Sayre, by Athens Borough police, on April 20, on South Elmira Street in Athens. Randall has also been charged with failure to keep right. A blood test revealed that Randall's blood alcohol content was .10 percent on the day of his arrest. Randall has been sent a summons to appear May 27 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.
William Michael Ingram, 39, of Canton, by Canton police following a traffic stop at 11:29 p.m. Jan. 17 on Troy Street in Canton.
Ingram was also charged with violations of "driving on roadways laned for traffic," "obedience to traffic-control devices," and "restriction on alcoholic beverages," according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.
According to an affidavit, Pennsylvania Game Commission Conservation Officer Jeffery Oleniacz requested assistance with a traffic stop he was conducting on Troy Street in Canton. Canton police arrived on the scene and learned from Oleniacz that the suspect's vehicle traveled by him at what he said appeared to be a high rate of speed, and he said the vehicle crossed over into the southbound lane and then back into the northbound lane, when making a turn. He also noticed the vehicle's registration was expired as well. Canton Police Officer Joshua Heckman said the driver, identified as Ingram, had an odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from his breath and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, with his pupils dilated.
Wilcox said Ingram was sent a summons by certified mail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 14.
Renee Elizabeth Getz, 28, of Mill Hall, Pa. by Canton police following a traffic stop at 12:40 a.m. March 14 on Troy Street in Canton.
Getz was also charged with careless driving and a violation of "driving on roadways laned for traffic," according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.
In an affidavit, Canton Police Officer Trey Kurtz said he saw a Honda drift into his lane of travel and make a sudden abrupt correction back to the northbound lane, and he immediately turned around and made a traffic stop and identified the driver as Getz. He said she appeared to be very nervous and had reddened eyes. Her blood alcohol content was .103 percent, he said.
Wilcox said she was sent a summons by certified mail. She faces a preliminary hearing at 1:15 p.m. May 14.
Athens man arrested on family court charge
An Athens man was recently arrested by Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies on a warrant issued out of Tioga County Family Court.
According to the sheriff's office, Steven J. Wheeler, 24, was arrested April 27 following a vehicle stop on Route 34 in Barton.
Wheeler was arraigned in Waverly Village Court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail or $2,000 bond, police said. Wheeler was scheduled to appear April 28 in family court.
Syrup container taken
A 60-year-old Troy man told state police at Towanda that a 275-gallon container that he uses to store maple syrup was taken from a wooded lot, where he collects sap, at approximately 7 a.m. April 21 on Route 514 in the Troy area.
The man said there is a metal cage around the plastic container. Anyone with further information is asked to contact state police.
PFA violation reported
State police at Towanda said that charges were filed in District Court 42-3-01 and the Bradford County Courthouse following a PFA violation/criminal mischief incident that took place at 1:58 a.m. April 27 on State Route 414 in LeRoy Township.
Police said Joshua Charles Nemeth, 30, of Towanda, had contact with a 35-year-old female victim, in violation of a PFA order. While he was at the victim's residence, an argument ensued and he broke a window in the residence.
Woman injured
State police at Towanda said Carol B. Eddy, 59, of Columbia Cross Roads, had an injury of unknown severity in a one-vehicle accident at 9:01 a.m. April 14 on Porter Road in Troy Township.
Police said her Dodge Nitro left the roadway and struck a tree, and she was transported by Western Alliance to Robert Packer Hospital for evaluation. Police said she was charged for a violation of "roadways laned for traffic."
Moderate injury reported
State police at Towanda said Sally Jane McClintic, 58, of Troy, was moderately injured in a one-vehicle crash at 3:53 p.m. April 24 on Judson Hill Road, approximately a half-mile south of Meadow Way, in Wells Township.
Police said she was traveling south and lost control of her 2009 Buick Lacrosse, which traveled through the north travel lane and struck a guardrail on the east shoulder of the roadway. According to police, the front-end of the vehicle struck a guardrail and the vehicle sustained disabling damage as a result. Police said McClintic was transported by Erway EMS to Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira, N.Y. for medical treatment. She said she was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, police said.
Police said she was charged with violations of "driving on right side of roadway" and "restraint systems" through District Court 42-3-01.
The Daggett Volunteer Fire Department and Burkholder's Towing also responded.
Sexual assault reported
State police at Towanda said they are investigating an incident in which a 10-year-old female juvenile reported that she was sexually assaulted by someone known to her sometime between Dec. 1 and April 10 in Springfield Township.
