Burglary investigated
State police are investigating a burglary that occurred recently at a private residence in Wysox Township.
According to police, perpetrators entered a storage shed on the property of a 71-year-old woman, and removed a red Sears/Craftsman snowblower, and a silver metal table saw, before fleeing the scene. The incident, police reported, occurred between March 17 and April 1. Anyone with information about the incident is requested to contact the state police at (570) 265-2186.
No injuries
No injuries were reported when a two-vehicle crash occurred recently on U.S. Route 6 in Standing Stone Township.
According to state police, Gerald L. Martin Jr., 43, of Wyalusing, was driving a Kenworth 900 west on Route 6 around 2:15 p.m. on April 26, when his vehicle struck the rear of a Dodge Ram 1500 operated by Raymond Cobb, 74, of Hallstead, Pa., who had stopped to make a left turn onto River Road. The impact caused disabling damage to both vehicles and both were towed from the scene. Police said that Martin will be cited for operating his vehicle at an unsafe speed.
Two cited for harassment
Two people were cited for harassment recently, following an altercation in Monroe Township.
State police reported that Kathryn Ann Vanderpool, 33, of Towanda, and Erin Nicole Jerger, 23, of Towanda were cited for the above offense on April 28, after the two got into an argument and struck each other with closed fists.
Criminal mischief reported
State police are investigating an incident of criminal mischief that occurred recently at a business in Elkland Township, Sullivan County.
According to police, at least two people arrived at a work site located on Lake Road near Camp Brule being overseen by Brigadier Pipeline Inc. of Troy. Police said the perpetrators spray painted graffiti on the metal plates covering the roadway, then rolled tires down the hill and smashed the windshield of a Cat 320D excavator with a rock. The incident occurred between 6 p.m. on April 26 and 10:30 a.m. on April 27. Anyone with information regarding the incident is requested to contact the state police at (570) 946-4610.
Man charged with heroin possession
A Monroeton man was arrested by Towanda police recently on allegations of illegal drug activity.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Christopher G. Carlisle, 25, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; and unlawful activities.
Carlisle was arrested by police following a traffic stop near Harkness' Restaurant in Towanda Township on March 9. During the investigation, according to the report, police discovered a package of a white substance that was later identified as heroin, as well as drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
Carlisle was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 bail. Carlisle's preliminary hearing before Judge Clark has been scheduled for May 7.
Woman charged with possession of drug paraphernalia
A Wellsburg, N.Y. woman was taken into custody by the Bradford County Sheriff's Department recently on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Denise A. Wilson, 47, was cited on April 24 for the above offense. On that date, according to reports, Wilson was picked up by sheriff's deputies in a warrant sweep being conducted in the area. Authorities determined there was a warrant out for Wilson's arrest, and when she was taken into custody, they found a hypodermic needle in her purse.
Wilson was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $55,000 bail.
Man faces drug possession charge
A Monroeton man has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark to answer a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
According to information filed in Clark's office, Paul Duane Ragan Jr., 25, has also been charged by Towanda police with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police reported arresting Ragan following a traffic stop on March 9 near Harkness' Restaurant in Towanda Township. During the investigation, police said, Ragan was found to be in possession of substances that later tested positive as marijuana and heroin respectively.
Ragan's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 28.
DUI
The following people were charged recently with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Tammy Jo Bailey, 45, of Monroeton. Bailey was charged by state police with the above offense by state police on April 19 following a traffic stop on U.S. Route 220 in Monroe Township.
Fred Ringler, 53, of Towanda. Ringler was charged by state police with the above offense by state police on April 25 following a traffic stop on U.S. Route 220 in Monroeton Borough.
Shane Michael Case, 31, of Troy. Case was also charged by state police on March 25 with driving on the wrong side of the road; crossing the center line of traffic; and careless driving, following a one-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 6 in Burlington Township. After being taken into custody for DUI, Case was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda, where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Case's blood alcohol content was .212 percent on the day of his arrest. Case has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on May 28.
William Chadwick Wade, 43, of Tillar Drew, Ariz. Wade was also charged by state police on March 31 with driving on the wrong side of the road; operating a vehicle at an unsafe speed; careless driving; and possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a moving vehicle. Wade was charged following a one-vehicle crash on state Route 3013 in Burlington Township. After being taken into custody for DUI, Wade was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Drew's blood alcohol content was .138 percent on the day of his arrest. Wade has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on June 4.
Danica Grace Saxbury, 21, of Towanda. Wade was also charged by Towanda police on April 4 with failure to signal properly when making a turn; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of a controlled substance (Diazepam) without a prescription. Saxbury was charged following a traffic stop. After being taken into custody for DUI, Saxbury was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda, where she agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Saxbury's blood was positive for Alpha - PVP; amphetamine; and methamphetamine. Saxbury has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on May 28.
