DUI charges
The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Suzanne L. Allen, 34, of Athens, by Athens Township police, on May 3, on Vista Drive in Athens Township. Allen has also been charged with aggravated assault, driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest and violation of stopping, standing or parking in a residential district. Allen refused to submit to a blood test to determine her blood alcohol content. Allen was arraigned May 3 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. Allen is scheduled to appear May 3 at a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw.
Rome woman charged following traffic stop
A Rome woman was recently charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance by Sayre Borough police.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Kathryn E. Shulas, 34, was also charged with driving with a suspended license, operating a vehicle without a valid registration and unauthorized transfer or use of registration.
Police said Shulas was found to be in possession of three oxycodone pills during a traffic stop April 2 on Mohawk Street. Shulas' vehicle had an expired registration plate belonging to another vehicle and told police her license was suspended, police said.
Shulas' preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 27.
Waverly police arrest burglar
The Waverly Police Department recently arrested a Waverly man in connection with numerous residential burglaries within the village.
According to village police, Christopher P. Henson, 27, was arrested May 1 and charged with two counts of felony burglary and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Henson was remanded to the Tioga County Jail without bail, police said.
Investigation into the burglaries continues, police said.
Towanda man charged with aggravated assault
A Towanda man was recently arrested by Sayre Borough police on a charge of aggravated assault.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Christopher Ryan Walters, no age given, was also charged with simple assault.
Police said Walters choked and put a nurse at Robert Packer Hospital into a headlock April 29 while he was a patient in the hospital's emergency department.
Walters was arraigned May 5 and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. Walters' preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 13.
Marijuana possession charge
A Gillett man was recently charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana by Sayre Borough police.
According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Anthony Michael Fletcher, 21, was also charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
Police said Fletcher was found to be in possession of baggies containing about 20 grams of marijuana packaged for sale May 3 on Chacona Lane.
Fletcher was arraigned May 4 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. Fletcher's preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 13.
Sayre man charged with robbery
A Sayre man was recently arrested by borough police on a charge of robbery by taking property from another by force.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Richard R. Garris, 20, was also charged with theft by unlawful taking, terroristic threats, simple assault, simple assault by menace and criminal mischief by damaging property.
Police said Garris grabbed a cell phone out of a female victim's hand, threatened to harm her with a knife and struck her several times in the throat, back and stomach at about 2:50 a.m. May 2 at a borough location. Police said Garris also attempted to break the cell phone, damaged a microwave, destroyed a child seat and cut the front passenger seat of the victim's vehicle during the altercation.
Garris was arraigned May 3 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. Garris' preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 13.
Man accused of selling heroin in Towanda Twp.
Bolivar Campusano Jr., 32, of Somerset, Pa., is accused of selling a total of 10 packets of heroin for $180 in Towanda Township, police said.
The sale occurred on Feb. 27 at a residence on Bridge Street Hill Road, where Campusano was living at the time, state police at Towanda said.
As a result of this incident, Campusano was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility, state police said.
Campusano was arraigned on the charges on April 10 by Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark.
Campusano was then sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $100 bail.
On April 30, Campusano waived his preliminary hearing, according to online court records.
Therefore, Campusano's case has been transferred to the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, where he is scheduled to be arraigned on May 29.
