DUI charges
The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Gregory Ray McKernan, 50, of Monroeton, by the state police, on May 24 on Patterson Boulevard, North Towanda Township. A test showed that McKernan's blood alcohol content was .093 percent on the day of his arrest. McKernan's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 14 in Towanda District Court.
Jason Duane Waltz, 29, of Morehead, Ky., by the Towanda police, on June 28, on the Merrill Parkway in Towanda. Waltz exhibited signs of alcohol intoxication.
Branigan Keeley, 28, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough police, on April 26, on North Lehigh Avenue in Sayre. Keeley has also been charged with disorderly conduct. A blood alcohol test revealed that Keeley's blood alcohol content was .09 percent on the day of his arrest. Keeley has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw Aug. 20 for a preliminary hearing.
Cynthia Rae Parrish, 37, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough police, on May 26, on Spring Street in Sayre. Parrish has also been charged with driving a vehicle without a valid registration. A blood alcohol test revealed that Parrish's blood alcohol content was .24 percent on the day of her arrest. Parrish has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw Aug. 20 for a preliminary hearing.
Woman charged with theft
A Waverly woman was recently charged with theft by unlawful taking by Athens Township police.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Donna L. Chandler, 30, was also charged with receiving stolen property.
Police said Chandler removed an iPhone from a township residence without the permission of its owner.
Chandler's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 13.
Disorderly conduct charge
An Athens man was recently charged with disorderly conduct by Athens Township police.
According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Christopher Richard Brown, 32, was also charged with public drunkenness.
Police said Brown climbed on top of the Athens Bridge parapet July 3, threatened to jump, and walked in the middle of the roadway in traffic. After police took him to Robert Packer Hospital for an evaluation, Brown caused a disturbance and yelled in the emergency department, according to police.
Brown's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 13.
Laceyville man arrested
A Laceyville man was recently incarcerated by Athens Township police on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Dylan Joseph Robbins, 21, was found to be in possession of hypodermic needles, a small metal spoon, alcohol swabs, a smoking pipe and small plastic pieces during investigation into a suspicious vehicle at about 1:50 a.m. July 9 on Elmira Street.
Robbins was arraigned July 9 by Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. Robbins' preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 16.
Assault charge
An Athens man was recently charged with simple assault by township police.
According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Benjamin Stewart Galacci, 26, was also charged with harassment by physical contact.
Police said Galacci hit, shoved and dragged a female victim during a July 6 altercation at his Front Street residence.
Galacci's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 6.
Waverly police make arrests
Waverly village police recently made the following arrests, according to information from the Waverly Police Department:
James F. Rosh, 35, of Waverly, for two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count each of unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument. Police said Rosh was found to be in possession of oxycodone and clonazepam pills and a hypodermic needle during investigation into an incident.
Justin M. Benjamin, 28, of Waverly, for falsely reporting an incident. Police said Benjamin recently reported a burglary of his residence and claimed prescription medications were stolen. Investigation revealed the medications were not stolen, according to police.
Scott M. Hurd, 40, of Waverly, for criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police said Hurd was found to be in possession of bath salts.
Trevor M. Prough, 20, of Athens, for assault. Police said Prough punched another person in the face.
Michael S. Slaughter, 30, of Waverly, for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, following a traffic stop.
Sue E. Walton, 53, of Chemung, N.Y., for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended registration and operating a motor vehicle without insurance, following a traffic stop.
Chadwick J. Buynak, 33, of Waverly, for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, following a traffic stop.
William Champluvier, 28, of Nichols, N.Y., on a warrant. Police said Champluvier was wanted for resisting arrest, unlawful fleeing of a police officer and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following an incident in which he led police on a chase.
Monroeton woman arrested
A Monroeton woman was recently arrested by Athens Township police on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Trishya Lee Bouse, 25, was found to be in possession of hypodermic syringes, cut-off cotton swabs and alcohol wipes during investigation into a suspicious vehicle parked at about 1:50 a.m. July 9 in the parking lot of an Elmira Street business.
Bouse was arraigned July 9 by Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. Bouse's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 16.
Retail theft charge
Two Lockwood, N.Y. women were recently charged with retail theft by Athens Township police.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Tiffany Marie Chandler, 21, and Amber Sue Chandler, 23, were also charged with receiving stolen property.
Police said the women removed several items from the Walmart on Elmira Street June 29. Tiffany Chandler stole a pillow, beach towels and a comforter totaling $82.40 as well as several other items, according to police. Police said Amber Chandler removed a video game console valued at $179.96.
Both women are scheduled to appear at preliminary hearings Aug. 13.
Wyalusing man faces felony charges
Michael Ryan Slocum, 21, of Wyalusing has been charged with criminal solicitation to commit sexual abuse of children, corruption of minors, and unlawful contact with minors, police said.
All of the charges are felonies, state police at Towanda said.
The charges were filed after Slocum had engaged in inappropriate messaging with a 14-year-old girl via Facebook, knowing that she was a minor, police said.
These online conversations with the victim, who was in Ulster Township at the time, occurred earlier this week, police said.
Slocum was arrested Thursday and arraigned before Troy Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox.
Slocum was then sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $55,000 bail, police said.
Towanda man faces drug charges
Jason Edward Stroud, 34, of Towanda faces a felony charge of possession of a designer drug and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance, police said.
The charges were filed after Stroud was found to be in possession of a drug which was contained in a small wrapping of plastic, police said.
The substance in the plastic wrapping contained a compound that has the same chemical structure as bath salts, according to the state police at Towanda.
The incident occurred on Nov. 13 at a residence along Mason Street in Towanda, state police at Towanda said.
Stroud was arraigned by Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Wednesday. He was then sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing for Stroud has been scheduled on Wednesday in Towanda District Court.
