DUI charges
The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Jordan C. Roach, 27, of Ulster, by Athens Borough police, on May 10, on Susquehanna Street in Athens. Roach has also been charged with failure to keep right, careless driving, speeding and failure to notify of a change of address. A blood test revealed that Roach's blood alcohol content was .09 percent on the day of his arrest. Roach has been sent a summons to appear July 29 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.
Christopher Quintana, 25, of Rome, by state police, on May 17, at Jackson's Trailer Court in Wysox Township. Quintana has also been charged with driving with a suspended license, speeding, violation of limitations on backing, careless driving, operating with an open container of alcohol and operating a vehicle without a valid inspection. Quintana refused to submit to a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content. Quintana has been sent a summons to appear July 15 before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton for a preliminary hearing.
Christopher Boyer, 41, of Nichols, by Athens Borough police, on June 8, on South Main Street in Athens. Boyer was also charged with driving while under the influence of a controlled substance and failure to keep right. A blood test revealed that Boyer's blood alcohol content was .217 percent on the day of his arrest and that he had methamphetamine present in his system on the day of his arrest. Boyer has been sent a summons to appear July 29 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.
Marsha M. Shoemaker, 67, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough police, on June 22, on Mohawk Street in Sayre. Shoemaker has also been charged with careless driving. A blood test revealed that Shoemaker's blood alcohol content was .17 percent on the day of her arrest. Shoemaker has been sent a summons to appear July 29 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.
Police investigate identity theft
State police at Towanda are investigating a case of identity theft in Wyalusing Township.
According to state police, between May and June, an unknown actor utilized a female resident's name, date of birth and Social Security number to open or attempt to open bank accounts with several out-of-state federal credit unions. Investigation continues, police said.
Harassment incident reported
State police at Towanda recently filed harassment charges against a Towanda man following a Monroe Township altercation.
According to state police, Derek Sherman Johnson, 42, is accused of pushing and choking an adult female during a May 31 domestic dispute at a Thrasher Lane location. The case will proceed via summons, police said.
Police investigate Litchfield Twp. MVA
State police at Towanda recently investigated a two-car motor vehicle accident in Litchfield Township.
According to state police, at about 3:45 p.m. June 3, a 2000 Chevrolet Prizm operated by Arlene C. Rainford, 32, of Litchfield, was attempting to turn left onto Cotton Hollow Road from North Rome Road and failed to yield to an oncoming 2001 Honda CR-V traveling east on Cotton Hollow Road. The Chevrolet struck the Honda's front passenger side with its front end, police said.
Paramedics transported Rainford to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre for treatment of minor injuries, police said. The driver of the Honda, 31-year-old Rebecca S. Miller of Sayre, was not injured.
Rainford was cited for violation of duties at a stop sign, police said.
Tires slashed
State police are investigating a reported criminal mischief case in Wyalusing Township.
According to state police at Towanda, an unknown actor or actors slashed all four tires on a vehicle parked in a Tokach Road driveway sometime on June 21. Approximately $600 worth of damage was reported, police said.

Building damaged
State police at Towanda are investigating damage done to a building in Stevens Township.
According to state police, between May 29 and June 4, an unknown actors broke three windows at a Route 706 building belonging to the Stevensville Community Foundation.

Monroeton man charged
A Monroeton man was recently charged with theft by unlawful taking by Athens Township police.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Jason Ryan Ragan, 23, was also charged with receiving stolen property.
Police said Ragan and another male are accused of removing buckets containing 100 nuts and bolts for machinery, a fire hydrant and a valve system attached to the hydrant April 30 from Simonds Sand and Gravel on Ellistown Road.
Ragan's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 15.
One injured in Route 220 crash
State police at Towanda recently investigated a two-car motor vehicle accident on Route 220 in Ulster Township.
According to state police, at about 3 p.m. June 21, a southbound 2012 Ford F-150 operated by Scotty J. Morley, 27, of Athens, crossed over the double yellow lines near the road's intersection with Schoolhouse Road and struck a northbound 2000 Ford Taurus, pushing it into the southbound lane.
Paramedics transported the driver of the Taurus, Jessica R. Lowman, 19, of Sayre, to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said. Morley was uninjured, according to police.
Morley was cited for violation of roadways laned for traffic, police said.
State police were assisted by the Ulster division of Tri-Township Ambulance.
Police investigate Route 220 MVA
State police at Towanda recently investigated a two-car motor vehicle accident on Route 220 in Ulster Township.
According to state police, at about 10:20 a.m. June 25, a southbound 2000 Kenworth W900 truck operated by Jacob D. Durland, 27, of Mildred, struck the rear of a stopped 2009 Toyota Corolla which was in the process of making a left turn just south of Ulster Road.
Police said Durland was uninjured. The driver of the Corolla, Jennifer J. Chilson, 55, of Ulster, had minor injuries, police said.
Durland was cited for speeding, according to police.
Man charged with falsifying gun paperwork
State police at Towanda recently charged a Leraysville man with a violation of sale or transfer of firearms.
According to state police, Brett Allen Evans, 25, attempted to purchase a handgun March 15 at Jerry's Gun Shop in Orwell Township. Police said Evans falsified background paperwork that was denied by the Pennsylvania Instant Check System. The system indicated Evans was a person not to possess a firearm, police said.
Charges against Evans were filed in district court, according to police.
Woman charged with theft at church
A New Albany woman was recently arrested by Laceyville Borough police on a charge of theft by unlawful taking.
According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, Donna C. Upton, 65, was also charged with receiving stolen property.
Police said Upton is accused of removing a briefcase not belonging to her from the St. Mary of the Assumption Church on State Street in Wyalusing Borough. The briefcase contained at least $80 in cash as well as credit and identification cards, police said. Police later found the briefcase in Upton's home in a locked back room, wrapped in five garbage bags, according to police.
Upton's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 29.
Theft by deception
A Scott Township man was recently charged with theft by deception by state police.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, Joseph McGarry, 34, was also charged with writing bad checks.
Police said that on March 17, McGarry wrote a check for a saw blade and generator from an account that was closed in July 2013 to Parys Farm Equipment in Tuscarora Township. The check was in the amount of $1,680, police said.
McGarry's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 15.
Woman charged with retail theft
An Elmira, N.Y. woman was recently charged with retail theft by Athens Township police.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Angelica Cardona, 37, was also charged with receiving stolen property.
Police said that on June 22, Cardona attempted to remove a total of 105 items from the Walmart store on Elmira Street, including food, clothing and DVDs. The total value of the items was $891.71, police said.
Cardona's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 29.
Window broken
State police at Towanda are investigating a case of criminal mischief in Sheshequin Township.
According to state police, an unknown actors broke a window from a Sheshequin Township residence on June 3. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.
