Aggravated indecent assault reported
State police at Towanda said that an aggravated indecent assault incident involving an 11-year-old Columbia Cross Roads female victim and a 5-year-old Columbia Cross Roads female victim occurred various times between March and June 16 in Springfield Township.
According to police, the 11-year-old was touched inappropriately around April by someone known to her, and the 5-year-old was touched inappropriately by the same person, also known to her, on more than one occasion.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
Warrants issued for pair
State police at Towanda said arrest warrants have been issued for William E. Finnerty, 27, and Jennifer L. Franks, 31, both of Binghamton, N.Y. after they were charged with felony charges of receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking, and a violation of the firearms act for an incident that took place June 14 at a residence on South Calaman Road in Columbia Township in which a firearm was stolen.
Police said arrest warrants were issued for Finnerty and Franks from District Court 42-3-01.
Fugitive from justice charged
State police at Towanda said Phillip M. Baker, 30, of Sayre, was charged with one count of arrest prior to requisition June 24.
According to police, he was wanted in Tioga County, N.Y. regarding an active arrest warrant for criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and endangering the welfare of a child. He was being held at the Bradford County Correctional Facility in West Burlington Township on unrelated charges. Police said he had a preliminary arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw and was released on non-monetary bail at the conclusion of the preliminary arraignment.
Man charged with aggravated indecent assault
William Foster Gleason, 50, of Canton Township, has been charged with aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, and corruption of minors following an investigation of a sexual assault case that occurred between Jan. 1, 2012 and June 16 in Canton Township, according to state police at Towanda and court papers filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.
Police said there were two victims in the case, a 10-year-old female and a 12-year-old female, both from Canton Township. According to police, Gleason admitted to improperly touching one victim.
Through the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Gleason touched another victim, police said. Police said he violated them on multiple occasions.
Gleason was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, who set his bail at $15,000, which Gleason was unable to post. Gleason was committed to the Bradford County Correctional Facility. He faces a preliminary hearing before Wilcox at 1 p.m. July 2.
Man charged with drug possession
Brandon Michael Smith, 18, of Canton, faces a preliminary hearing at 3:30 p.m. July 9 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana, according to court papers.
According to an affidavit, there were six suspected marijuana seeds in a white container on top of Smith's night stand.
Smith told police that he smoked marijuana in the past and kept the seeds, and put the seeds in the container "so they wouldn't be just laying out" on his night stand.
Wilcox said Smith was sent a summons by certified mail.
Man faces hearing on drug charge
State police at Towanda said Damien Kirkey, 23, of Canton, has been charged with one count of possession of a small amount of marijuana and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia for an incident that took place sometime between 11:35 a.m. and 1 p.m. June 4 at his residence on North Center Street in Canton.
Police said they responded to his residence to serve an arrest warrant on Kirkey for a burglary in which firearms were stolen.
Upon receiving consent to search from the tenant of the residence, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in the bedroom where Kirkey was known to keep his belongings, police said.
Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox said Kirkey had a preliminary arraignment on June 19 and his bail was set at $7,500 but wasn't posted. Wilcox said Kirkey faces a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. July 9.
Man faces hearing on simple assault attempt
Ryan James Kreykenbohm, 19, of Troy, faces a preliminary hearing at 2:45 p.m. July 2 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on charges of simple assault - attempt and harassment for an incident that took place at 10:30 a.m. June 16 at his residence in Troy, according to court papers.
Kreykenbohm is accused of causing bodily injury to a juvenile victim, who was treated for a sprained wrist.
Wilcox said Kreykenbohm's unsecure bail was set at $10,000 and posted.
Man faces hearing on theft
Scott Charles Vietzen, 30, of Canton, faces a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. on July 2 in front of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on a charge of theft by unlawful taking or disposition for a theft of firearms that took place sometime between 7 a.m. April 1 and 1:58 p.m. June 15 on North Center Street in Canton Township, according to court papers.
The papers note that Vietzen is accused of the theft of rifles and shotguns, valued at $400, and belonging to Leonard Fields, 67, of Canton Township.
Woman faces hearing on unsworn falsification
Brenda Lee Myers, 44, of Columbia Cross Roads, faces a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy at 3:30 p.m. July 16 on charges of sale or transfer of firearms and unsworn falsification to authorities for making a false written statement on a Firearms Transaction Record at 2:59 p.m. Dec. 2 at Shermbob's Gun & Ammo in Ridgebury Township, according to court papers.
According to an affidavit, she was trying to buy a Savage 270 caliber rifle, Model Axis.
Police said she knowingly and intentionally made a material false written statement on the Firearms Transaction Record, Part 1, concerning her current status as fugitive from justice and prior conviction record.
Police confirmed that Myers is currently a wanted person in Tennessee, and she entered a plea of Nolo Contendre to the offense of theft by unlawful taking or disposition in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas in Towanda.
According to police, Myers' fugitive status would prevent her from attempting to possess, use, manufacture, control, sell, or transfer firearms under The Uniform Firearms Act.
Wilcox said Myers' bail was set at $25,000, which was not posted.
