Argument over phone turns violent
Sayre Police were dispatched to a residence on Draper Street in Sayre for a domestic disturbance on Aug. 8. Upon arrival, officers took statements regarding an alleged argument between the accused, Joshua L. Smith, 33, of Sayre, and occupants of the residence over the possible theft of a cell phone. During the argument, Smith shoved a person and caused mild bodily injury after which he fled the scene. Sayre Police charged Smith on Aug. 14, with misdemeanor charges of attempted physical assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.
Theft from Ulster School
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an incident of theft by burglary at the Ulster Elementary School in Ulster Township occurring between Aug. 7 and Aug. 8. In the commission of the crime, unknown persons broke into the school and removed multiple items from within the school. Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is encouraged to contact the State Police.
Scrap metal theft in Ridgebury
Between the dates of July 6 and July 13, unknown persons gained access to a residence on Ridgebury Road in Ridgebury and stole multiple items of scrap materials. Also stolen was a yellow McCullock chain saw and circular international mowing machine, (five feet in length). Anyone with information regarding this crime should contact the Pennsylvania State Police.
Verbal argument turns indecent
Pennsylvania State Troopers responded to a report of indecent exposure on July 21, on Springfield Road in Smithfield Township. According to police, during a verbal argument along the edge of the roadway Donald Monchrie, 43, of East Smithfield, allegedly dropped his shorts, exposing his genitals and buttocks both in the direction of the roadway and the public. He was charged with indecent exposure, open lewdness and disorderly conduct.
Drug arrest reported
The Vice and Narcotics unit of the Pennsylvania State Police reported the arrest of Adam S. Johnson, 28, of Rome, after an investigation that concluded in January 2014. During the commission of the crime, officers allegedly observed Johnson deliver a controlled substance to an unnamed person. Johnson was charged on Aug. 25, with four felony charges of criminal conspiracy/possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, manufacturing, deliver, possess with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility and possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned on Aug. 26, by Judge Clark and bail was set at $10,000.
Distracted driver crash
Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to a one-vehicle accident in Litchfield Township on Aug. 13. According to police, Gretta J. Deutschle, 20, of Granville Summit, was traveling east on South Macafee Road when, distracted by a passenger, Deutschle failed to negotiate a left hand curve and rolled her vehicle approximately two to three times, causing disabling damage. The driver and a passenger were transported to Robert Packer Hospital by a passing vehicle. Deutschle was later issued a violation for Driving on roadways laned for traffic.
One-vehicle accident
According to Pennsylvania State Police, on Aug. 16, Mandy M. Foust, 34, of Canton, was traveling east on Milan Road in Ulster Township when her vehicle crossed over the fog line and hit loose gravel on the berm. The vehicle traveled into the westbound lane causing approximately 150 feet of yaw marks. Foust's vehicle then struck a tree before coming to final rest approximately 10 feet from the point of initial impact, facing westward. Foust was transported by ambulance to Robert Packer Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries. Foust was issued a violation for Driving on roadways laned for traffic.
