Hit and run reported
A driver in Ridgebury Township struck mailboxes after reversing out of a driveway on Monkey Run Road and then failed to stop and report the damage. The vehicle, described as a green and brown pick-up truck with a red tailgate, fled the crash scene east on Monkey Run Road.
Welfare call results in possession charges
Athens Borough Police were dispatched to an address on June 27, in response to a female, identified as Nicole M. VanDyke, 23, making suicidal comments and who may have locked herself in a bathroom of the residence. Officers spoke with VanDyke about why her neighbor would make an emergency call to police on her behalf. VanDyke alleged to officers that she was worried about her drug addiction and possible overdose.
She subsequently gave officers a playing card containing a small amount of bath salts, a plastic pipe and another small amount of bath salts wrapped in aluminum foil.
The officer notified VanDyke that he was placing her under arrest for drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
VanDyke was arraigned on Aug. 26, by Judge Clark and received $2,500 bail. She will be required to be present on Sept. 9, 2014 to answer the charges.
Bar fight results in facial bite
On July 18, Sayre Borough Police took the statement of a man who had just come from the Robert Packer Hospital Emergency Department for treatment of a human bite to the left side of the face.
Earlier that evening the victim had dinner and drinks at the Flat Iron in Sayre when Christopher Priest, 35, of Waverly, entered the establishment visibly drunk, looking for the keys to his motorcycle. Priest allegedly became angry with patrons and began to fight. A woman tried to intervene and was knocked to the ground. The victim then said he tried to restrain Priest, at which time the two were knocked to the ground and Priest bit the man in the face.
Police filed the following misdemeanor charges against Priest on Aug. 18: simple attempted assault, harassment by strike, kick or shove and disorderly conduct.
Priest will face Judge Michael Shaw to answer charges on Sept. 16, 2014.
