Man charged

State police at Towanda said Clinton Edward Lantz, 22, of Sayre, was charged with arrest prior to requisition at 2:44 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Bradford County Correctional Facility in West Burlington Township.

Police said he had an active arrest warrant out of the Tioga County Sheriff's Office of New York.

Charges filed

State police at Towanda said Eduardo Burtes, 48, of Dundee, N.Y. was charged with arrest prior to requisition at 12:22 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Bradford County Correctional Facility in West Burlington Township.

Police said he had an active bench warrant out of the Yates County Sheriff's Office of New York.

Harassment reported

State police at Towanda said Robert Stevens, 81, of LeRaysville, is accused of touching a 15-year-old LeRaysville girl at noon Nov. 2 in LeRaysville, Warren Township.

Police said charges for were filed for this harassment incident through District Court 42-3-04.

Man charged with DUI

Craig Michael Roote, 35, of Horseheads, N.Y. was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, a summary violation of "driving on roadways laned for traffic," and summary careless driving following a one-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 7:10 p.m. Oct. 8 on Route 549, just inside the Bradford County line in Wells Township, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

Police said Roote's blood-alcohol content was .105 percent.

Wilcox said Roote was sent a summons by certified mail, and has a fast track waiver scheduled for Dec. 5 at the office of Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark of Towanda.

No injuries reported

No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash, involving a commercial vehicle, that occurred at 4:20 p.m. Oct. 28 on Route 6 in West Burlington Township, said state police at Towanda.

Drivers involved in the crash were Michele J. Robbins, 45, of Troy, who was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe, and Steven A. Jackson, 41, of Mainesburg, who was driving a Freightliner, police said.

According to police, the crash occurred as Robbins was traveling east on Route 6 and Jackson was traveling west. As both vehicles were making a sharp curve in the opposite directions, Robbins left her lane of travel and struck the rear driver's side area of Jackson's vehicle, with her front driver's side area. Both vehicles came to final rest immediately after the collision, and Robbins' vehicle could not be driven after crash and was towed.

Police said Robbins was charged for a violation of "roadways laned for travel."

Catalytic converters taken

State police at Towanda said someone entered the office of Strope's Salvage and removed approximately 10 used catalytic converters that were being stored inside at the business on Strope Road in Burlington Township on Oct. 27. Police listed the times of the incident as 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

No one injured

State police at Towanda said Darran C. Spencer, 28, of Ulster, was not injured in a one-vehicle commercial vehicle crash that occurred at 12:44 p.m. Oct. 20 on Steam Mill Hollow Road in Tuscarora Township.

Police said Spencer, who was driving a Peterbilt truck-tractor, was traveling south on the road, when his vehicle left the roadway to the right, on a downhill, left curve. It traveled down a large embankment, striking small trees and brush in the process. Police said Spencer tried to re-enter the roadway, but had already traveled too far outside the lane of travel and lost control of the vehicle. According to police, he tried to re-enter the roadway abruptly while on the embankment, which caused the vehicle to overturn. Police said he will be charged for a violation of "driving vehicle at safe speed." His vehicle was towed.

Vehicle sideswiped in Wyalusing Twp.

Todd D. Alexander, 41, of Wyalusing was uninjured when his vehicle was sideswiped by a hit-and-run driver on U.S. Route 6 in Wyalusing Township, police said.

The incident occurred at 7:30 a.m. Thursday as the two vehicles were traveling in the two eastbound lanes of the highway, police said. Alexander's vehicle was in the left lane, and the hit-and-run driver was in the right lane, police said.

As the two vehicles approached the right-lane merge portion of the roadway, Alexander continued going straight after the merge, police said. The hit-and-run driver sideswiped Alexander's vehicle in an attempt to get in front of him, police said.

The hit-and-run driver fled the scene and continued driving east, state police at Towanda said. No charges will be filed against Alexander, police said.

Man charged with selling heroin in Towanda

A Williamsport man was recently charged with selling heroin along Second Street in Towanda Borough, police said.

David W. Daniels Jr., 30, of Williamsport is accused of selling 19 packets of heroin to an individual along Second Street for $400, police said.

The sale took place at 12:35 p.m. on Sept. 17, state police at Towanda said.

Daniels was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, and driving with a suspended license, police said.

Daniels was arraigned by Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Nov. 6. Daniels was then sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Daniels, who lives on Third Street, must appear before Judge Clark for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.

Man charged with possession of drug paraphernalia in Franklin Twp.

David Charles Bennett, 47, of Ulster has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

The charge stems from an Oct. 21 incent in which state police went to a residence in Franklin Township to help take Bennett into custody for a parole violation, police said.

State police said that when they made contact with Bennett in a garage at the residence, they observed him injecting himself with an unknown substance using a hypodermic needle.

Bennett was initially transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in Towanda for a medical evaluation, police said. A state trooper who was riding in the ambulance with Bennett heard Bennett tell an EMT that he had "shot up" bath salts, state police said.

Bennett was arraigned by Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Nov. 6.

Bennett was then sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.
