Towanda woman charged with endangering the welfare of a child
Jeanne Pierce, 62, of Towanda has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
The charge stems from an Oct. 7 incident in which a 2-year-old boy was hanging out of a third-floor window of an apartment on Second Street in Towanda, police said. The child was hanging out of the window to the extent that the entire upper half of his body was out over the edge of the building, according to the Towanda police.
Two Bradford County Children & Youth Services workers happened to observe the incident from their parking lot, ran to the aid of the child and reported the incident to the police, Towanda police said.
Pierce was taking care of the child at the time of the incident, but had left the room, leaving the child unattended at the time that he leaned out the window, according to the police.
Pierce watches the child on occasion when his mother works, according to the police.
