Bradford County Court News 11/30/2014

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett reported that the following persons were recently sentenced in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Lawrence McKeever, 33, of Elmira Heights, N.Y., was sentenced to State Intermediate Punishment for 24 months (State Intermediate Punishment is a two year program. It begins with at least seven months of regular State Prison, followed by custody in a drug/alcohol addiction center, followed by restricted living in a residential program. The prison administration must be satisfied that the prisoner has made progress in rehabilitation from substance abuse. If not, the prisoner will be dismissed from S.I.P. and resentenced.), fines of $2,500, he will also lose his driver's license for 18 months, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Trooper Sean Cooney of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested McKeever following investigation of an incident that occurred in Columbia Township.

Suzanne Allen, 35, Endicott, N.Y., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility of from 72 hours to six months, followed by Probation supervision for a term of one year, fines of $1,100 and restitution of $1,025 on a bad check; she will also lose her driver's license for 12 months. Additional license suspension of 12 months will be imposed for refusal to submit to testing when arrested, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor and Resisting Arrest, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Officer Richard Horton of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Allen for the offense on May 3, 2014.

Carl Winslow, 32, Bath, N.Y., was sentenced to Probation supervision for a term of 18 months and fines for the offense of Reckless Endangering Another Person. Officer Joshua Lake of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Winslow for the offense in February 2014.

Jesse Johnson, 24, Wysox, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 60 days to 96 days, followed by County Intermediate Punishment for 24 months (County Intermediate Punishment involves a combination of restrictions and supervision. It may include abuse treatment. Violations can result in incarceration.) for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol. Chief Randy Epler of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Johnson for the offense in February 2014.

Daniel Bellows, 28, Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for five days to six months, fines, costs of $500, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol.

Officer Nathan Ross of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Bellows for the offense in March 2014.

Ryan Smith, 20, Athens, Pa., was resentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for a flat 70 days, for the offense of Harassment and Underage Drinking. Officer James Condusta of the Athens Borough Police Department arrested Smith for the offense in November 2013.

Robert Swackhammer, 18, Burlington, Pa., was sentenced to Probation supervision for a term of 12 months, and restitution to be determined, for the offense of Theft by Unlawful Taking. Trooper Mark Sadowski of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Swackhammer following investigation of an incident that occurred in Burlington Township.

Robert Swackhammer, 18, Burlington, Pa., was sentenced to Probation supervision for a term of six months, and restitution to be determined, for the offense of Theft by Unlawful Taking. Trooper Anthony Stempien of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Swackhammer following investigation of an incident that occurred in Burlington Township.

Robert Swackhammer, 18, Burlington, Pa., was sentenced to fines, costs of $100, and restitution to be determined, for the offense of Criminal Mischief. Trooper Nathan Lewis of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Swackhammer following investigation of an incident that occurred in Burlington Township.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett reported that the following persons recently entered guilty pleas in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Roger Plouse, 31, Sayre, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Criminal Mischief, a misdemeanor of the third degree. Plouse will be sentenced on Jan. 12, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper William McDermott of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Plouse following investigation of an incident that occurred in Smithfield Township.

Donald Leroy Seeley Sr., 59, Troy, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Indecent Assault/victim under 13 years. Seeley will be sentenced in March following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Miranda Musick of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Seeley following investigation of an incident that occurred in Columbia Township.

Robyn E. Rice, 54, Canton, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Delivery of Heroin on June 5, 2014 and Delivery of Heroin on June 10, 2014, and delivery of Vicodin on June 10, 2014, all felonies. Rice will be sentenced at a later date, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Albert Ogden of the Towanda Borough Police Department and Chief Larry Hurley of the Athens Township, both working with the Bradford County Drug Task Force arrested Rice for the offense in July after a month long investigation. The Drug Task Force is organized with state funding for selected local law enforcement officers to do county-wide drug work.

Frank Stout, 48, Rochester, N.Y., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Stout will be sentenced following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Thomas VanFleet of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Stout for the offense in July 2014.

Wurt Brown, 70, Rome, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Brown will be sentenced in February 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Ryan Edsell of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Brown for the offense in May 2014.

Richard Vargson, 26, Towanda, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a felony. Vargson will be sentenced on Jan. 12, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Agents of the Pennsylvania State Police Vice and Narcotics Unit arrested Vargson following investigation of an incident that occurred in Athens Borough.

Adam Johnson, 28, Rome, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to three counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, all felonies. Johnson will be sentenced on Jan. 12, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Agents of the Pennsylvania State Police Vice and Narcotics Unit arrested Johnson following investigation of an incident that occurred in Bradford County.

Adam Moe, 29, Rome, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offenses of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor. Moe will be sentenced on Jan. 12, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Robert Hutchison of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Moe following investigation of an incident that occurred in Litchfield Township.

Scott Woodruff, 39, Monroeton, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Woodruff will be sentenced on Jan. 12, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Deputy Brian Wibirt of the Bradford County Sheriff's Department arrested Woodruff for the offense on May 8, 2014.

Scott Vietzen, 31, Canton, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Theft by Unlawful Taking, a felony of the second degree. Vietzen will be sentenced on Jan. 12, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Corporal Norman Strauss of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Vietzen following investigation of an incident that occurred in Canton Township.
