Woman charged after crash
An Ulster woman was charged with careless driving following a crash that occurred on Jan. 2 in Rome Township.
According to state police, Corrine Tucci, 65, was driving a 2008 Hyundai Sonata north on West Road in Rome Township when she fell asleep at the wheel. She was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured as a result of the crash.
No injuries reported in Wysox crash
The drivers of a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado and 2003 Toyota Camry were not injured following a crash that occurred on Dec. 29 on Route 6 in Wysox.
According to police, the unidentified driver of the Silverado was traveling west when the rear driver side tire came off the vehicle and struck the Camry, which was being driven in the opposite direction. No charges were filed and both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
Harassment occurs in Monroeton
According to state police, James Gaitings, 48, of Towanda faces charges of harassment after striking a 16-year-old juvenile female on Jan. 1 at a residence in Monroeton Borough.
Theft by deception under investigation
A case of theft by deception is under investigation following an incident that occurred on Dec. 28 in North Towanda.
According to police, the victim purchased an iPhone from an unknown actor, which was discovered to be lost/stolen from Verizon.
People charged after fight
State police at Towanda said three people were charged with simple assault and harassment following a fight that occurred at 7:10 p.m. Dec. 25 on the Berwick Turnpike in Burlington Township.
Police said Brian Vanderpool, 22, of Wellsburg, W.Va., Dustin Westbrook, 29, of Burlington, and Johnathan Card, 25, of Burlington engaged in a mutual physical fight with each other, resulting in injuries to all of them.
Police said they were charged through District Court 42-3-03.
Theft investigated
State police at Towanda said they investigated a report of property being stolen sometime between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. Jan. 2 on Doane Hill Road in West Burlington Township.
Police said the victim is Michael Murray, 52, of Burlington. Police did not state what property was stolen.
No injuries
State police at Towanda said no injuries were reported in a one-vehicle crash that occurred late last month on Brewer Hollow Road in Wyalusing Township.
Police said Caleb E. Carlin, 24, of Laceyville, was traveling south, lost control of his Ford Explorer, and struck a tree.
Attempted purchase investigated
State police at Towanda said a 51-year-old Orange City, Fla. man tried to purchase a firearm sometime between 12:26 p.m. and 12:36 p.m. Oct. 12 at L & R Reloading in Albany Township, but answered "no" to the question referring to being convicted of a felony or any other crime that could have been punishable by imprisonment up to a year.
Police said the suspect was convicted of felony burglary in 1986 in Colorado. An investigation is ongoing, said police.
Charges filed
State police at Towanda said charges were filed through District Court 42-3-01 after a 37-year-old Columbia Cross Roads man received a letter from Suann Nicole Dyar, 32, of Columbia Cross Roads, in violation of a PFA, at 1 p.m. Dec. 23 at a residence on Seymour Drive in Columbia Township.
On Dec. 24, the man arrived at the Pennsylvania State Police Towanda barracks to report the incident and supply a copy of the letter, signed by Dyar.
Police said charges were filed through District Court 42-3-01.
Cell phone taken
Phyllis Louise Brown, 55, of Mehoopany, told state police at Towanda that a cell phone she owns was taken by another person known to her at noon Dec. 10 on Shaffers Notch Road in Terry Township.
Police said an investigation continues.
Toys taken
State police at Mansfield said an unknown person took various children's toys worth $800 and a Stihl chainsaw model MS250 valued at $50 from the basement of Robert Guthrie, 72, of Canton, sometime between 8 a.m. Dec. 21 and 8 a.m. Dec. 24 on Route 414 in Union Township, Tioga County, Pa.
Deer carcasses discarded
State police at Towanda said an unknown person disposed of three deer carcasses on the property of James Burnside, 52, of Burlington Township, sometime between Dec. 21-26 on Weed Hill Road in Burlington Township.

People injured
Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 8 a.m. Dec. 27 on Route 6, approximately .25 miles west of Dickerson Street, in Troy Township, said state police at Towanda.
Drivers involved in the crash were Matthew D. Wood, 31, of Columbia Cross Roads, who sustained a minor injury, and Neal R. Saunders, 36, of Gillett, who was moderately injured, police said.
Police said Wood was traveling east on Route 6 and became distracted while driving and hit the rear end of Saunders' vehicle, which was stopped in the eastbound lane waiting to turn left into a driveway. Police said Wood's Ford F150 had disabling front end damage and Saunders' Chevrolet sustained minor rear end damage. Both drivers were transported to Troy Community Hospital for treatment.
Wood was cited for careless driving, police said.
Harassment charge filed
On Dec. 10, Pennsylvania State Police reported the arrest of Steven E. Cook, 28, of Ulster, for the charge of harassment. On the above date, Cook allegedly grabbed a female victim by the jaw while she was driving, causing visible marks.
Crash reported
On Dec. 13, Pennsylvania State Police reported a one vehicle accident on Front Street in New Albany Borough. The accident occurred as the vehicle, driven by 54-year-old Dale J. Radandt of Bloomsburg, attempted to turn left into the Dandy Mini Mart parking lot and misjudged the curve. He then made contact with a utility pole, severing it at the base. State Police were assisted by the New Albany Fire Department.
Hit and run reported
Pennsylvania State Police arrived on the scene of a one vehicle accident in Tuscarora Township on Dec. 10. on US 6 near Diner Road. Troopers found a vehicle partially in the west bound lane of travel, with no one occupying the vehicle. Troopers subsequently found the driver, Carol L. Bennett, 55, of Wyalusing, at her home. She stated she was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident and did not know she was required to notify police.
She was issued a citation for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Terroristic threats made
On Dec. 3, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a residence on Cotter Road in Wilmot Township for a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, troopers charged Levi R. Foux, 33, of Wilmot Township with making terroristic threats after a verbal altercation turned physical. He will answer to the charge at a later date.
Theft reported
Sometime between the end of August and Dec. 1, when the theft was discovered, an unknown individual stole a tree stand which was located in the woods near Valley View Road in Sheshequin Township. The case remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Pennsylvania State Police at (570) 265-2186.
DUI arrest reported
Officers with the Athens Borough Police Department reported the arrest of Faith M. VanDyke, 36, of Milan, for several offenses related to driving under the influence on Nov. 23.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle, driven by VanDyke, after observing it come to a complete stop at a blinking yellow signal. During the commission of the stop, officers found a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from her person. A passenger in the vehicle was clearly observed holding an open beer can.
VanDyke was charged with DUI: highest rate of alcohol, DUI: general impairment, general lighting requirements, and driving on the right side of the roadway. She is set to face these charges at a preliminary hearing on Jan. 16, with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw.
DUI arrest made
On Dec. 5, officers with the Athens Borough Police Department reported the arrest of 24-year-old Dustin A. Shedden of Spencer, N.Y., for several offenses related to driving under the influence.
Officers observed a vehicle, driven by Shedden, traveling at a high rate of speed on North Main Street. The officer then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and found Shedden with a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person. He was then asked to perform the standard battery of field sobriety tests, which he failed to perform in a satisfactory manner. During the tests, Shedden repeatedly cursed at the officers after being asked several times to stop.
Shedden was placed under arrest for DUI: highest rate of alcohol, DUI: general impairment, disorderly conduct, and maximum speed limits.
