Athens man charged with indecent assault, exposure

Christopher Josier Cron, 19, of Athens, has been charged with multiple charges stemming from incidents in September through November, police said.

According to police, Cron was charged with indecent assault, indecent exposure, corruption of minors, and disorderly conduct after having sexual contact with an 11-year-old boy.

Police said Cron also exposed himself to the same boy and another 9-year-old boy.

According to police, Cron corroborated the events described by the 11- and 9-year-old boys when interviewed by police.

Cron will face Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on March 24 for his preliminary hearing.

Athens men charged with property damage, burglary

David Andrew Wales, 21, and Devin Lee Hubert, 19, both of Athens, were charged after entering the Athens Stock Yards and destroying property in the building, police said.

According to police, Wales and Hubert entered the building illegally several times and broke numerous ceiling lights, scattered hundreds of papers, and drew on the walls among other damage that police said was too numerous to include in their report.

The pair have been charged with three counts of burglary and three counts of criminal trespassing along with criminal mischief and criminal conspiracy.

Wales will face Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on March 24 for his preliminary hearing.

Hubert's formal arraignment will take place April 2.

Wyalusing man charged with home improvement fraud

Charles F. Sanders, 37, of Wyalusing, defrauded the victim of $63,168.94 for home improvement projects, police said.

Sanders was to complete a list of projects in a 75-day time frame, according to police.

Sanders' company, Scorpion Enterprises LLC, had not completed any of the projects specified in the contract and 221 days passed between the date the project began and when the victim brought the issue to state police.

Sanders will face Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on March 24 for his preliminary hearing.

Athens man charged with resisting arrest

Brian Maynard Vandyke, 33, of Athens, was charged with resisting arrest after police attempted to execute a felony warrant for Vandyke, police said.

On March 5, police said when confronted with the warrant, Vandyke began cutting his wrist with a knife after saying he did not want to go to jail.

Police said after grabbing Vandyke's wrists, Vandyke attempted to cut the officer with the knife and kick the officer.

Police said a taser was used on Vandyke to subdue him and he was subsequently taken into custody.

Vandyke was issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for his preliminary hearing on April 14.

Burglary reported in Litchfield

Police said a 47-inch TV, a CB radio, and Xbox video game system, and a bag of clothes were stolen from a Litchfield home between March 3 and March 6.

Donald Edward Seelye, 36, of Sayre, told police someone gained access to his residence on Blackberry Lane in Litchfield where the above mentioned items were taken.

None injured in Ulster crash

Police said no one was injured after a 2006 Honda CRV crashed into the rear end of a 2001 Buick Century on U.S. Route 220 in Ulster.

On March 5, Carol B. Quincy, 46, of Norwich ran into the Buick driven by Elizabeth M. Cain, 32, of Elmira, after Cain was stopped on Route 220, police said.

Police said all drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts.

Quincy was cited for driving at an unsafe speed, police said.

Athens woman charged with harassment

Police said Nicole Brown, 40, of Athens, was charged with harassment after Carla Northrup, 26, of Sayre, went to Brown's residence to pick up her daughter.

Police said a verbal altercation ensued between Brown and Northrup, which led to Brown shoving and striking Northrup on March 5 at about 9 p.m. on Cotton Hollow Road in Litchfield.
