Man charged with furnishing alcohol to minors

A Towanda man has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark to answer a charge of furnishing alcohol to minors.

According to information filed in Clark's office, Michael A. Aingworth, 27, was cited by Towanda police for the above offense on March 7. Aingworth is accused of purchasing beer which he provided to juveniles at a party at a vacant house on Pratt Avenue.

Aingworth is scheduled to appear before Judge Clark on April 22.

Man cited for possession of drug paraphernalia

A Gillett man was cited by state police recently on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Joseph Lee Granger, 43, was cited for the above offense on Dec. 17.

Police reported spotting Granger in the parking lot of the Bucket of Blood bar on Dec. 17. Police said they knew there was a warrant out for Granger's arrest for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and contacted other troopers to assist in his arrest.

Granger got into his vehicle and police said they followed it until it stopped at the parking lot of Shaw's Furniture store on U.S. Route 220 in Monroeton. Granger was taken into custody, the report continued, and two hypodermic needles were discovered inside a jacket located on the back seat of the vehicle.

Granger was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $25,000 bail. Granger is scheduled to appear for his preliminary hearing before Judge Clark on April 1.

Woman charged with unauthorized use

A Dushore woman was arrested by state police recently on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Candace Marie Chilson, 34, has also been charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license, and driving while her operating privilege was suspended or revoked.

The charges against Chilson stem from an incident that occurred in March 2013. Police reported speaking to Robert Harry Churchman of Towanda, who informed them his vehicle had been used by another person without authorization. Churchman told the state police his insurance company had contacted him earlier, about a crash his vehicle had been involved in. Churchman said he was not aware of any crash, but when he checked his vehicle, he observed that the passenger-side door had been damaged. Churchman informed the police he discovered Chilson had driven his vehicle, and that she had been involved in a crash which occurred in Towanda Borough. Churchman said he had not given Chilson permission to drive his vehicle.

Police said they later spoke to Chilson, who admitted driving Churchman's vehicle, because she had to go into town to take care of some business. A records check revealed that Chilson's license was suspended, police reported.

Chilson has been sent a summons to appear before Judge Clark on April 22.
