Car egged in Wyalusing Borough

State police are investigating a report of an unknown person or persons who threw eggs at a vehicle between 12:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 12 in a driveway located in the 100 block of Taylor Avenue in Wyalusing Borough.

Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.

No injuries in one-car crash

Hila J. Kinner, 51, of Wyalusing was cited for driving at an unsafe speed after police say she crashed a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado at approximately 6:20 p.m. on July 26 on Route 6 in Wyalusing Township.

According to police, Kinner allowed her vehicle to leave the roadway, causing the truck to strike a mailbox before traveling across a lawn, hitting an embankment and rolling over.

Two passengers in the vehicle, Robert A. Chilson, 53, and Jason P. White, 35, both of Wyalusing, were uninjured during the accident.

All occupants were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, police said.

Man charged with receiving stolen property

William Shawn Colbath, 49, of Troy, faces a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. Sept. 2 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on a charge of receiving stolen property, according to court papers.

The receiving stolen property charge concerns a black 1998 Jeep Cherokee belonging to Michael Salerno, no age or address given.

According to an affidavit, Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Tyler Brackman was dispatched at approximately 12:01 a.m. Nov. 25 to a report of a burglary/theft/assault on Wallace Road in West Burlington Township. While at the scene, the trooper learned that Colbath had broken into the house and committed several crimes inside and outside the residence. A witness said that she saw Colbath drive by the residence, prior to the incident, in a black Jeep SUV, matching the description of a stolen vehicle out of New York.

On Dec. 3, the stolen vehicle was recovered at a residence on Wallace Road, just north of the home which was involved in the previous incident, according to the affidavit. The homeowner stated that the vehicle had been there since Nov. 25, but he did not report it until Dec. 3.

Colbath was arraigned Aug. 4, with his ROR bail set and posted, Wilcox said.

Man charged with simple assault

Gregory Leon Fisher, 32, of Lawrenceville, Pa., faces a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. Aug. 19 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment, according to court papers.

Fisher is charged with causing serious bodily injury to a woman at approximately 6:17 p.m. July 20, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life. According to the charges, he struck the female victim on the lower lip of her face, with his right hand with a closed fist and then struck her in the head approximately 10 times. He also kicked the victim in the buttocks area, and then choked and pulled her hair and threw objects at her.

Police said the woman suffered a broken coxal bone, head injuries, multiple bruises, and disorder of the tail bone. At the time she was interviewed on July 21, she was hospitalized, due to her injuries, police said.

Wilcox said Fisher had his preliminary arraignment Aug. 5, with his bail set at $40,000 and not posted. He was placed in Bradford County Correctional Facility.

Man charged with theft

Frederick Robert Ames, 29, of Troy, faces a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. Sept. 16 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on a charge of theft by unlawful taking or disposition, according to court papers.

Ames is accused of using the company credit card of CS Trucking LLC to put gas in his personal vehicle several times, totaling $243.52, from April 10-12, 2014.

Wilcox said Ames was sent a summons by certified mail.

Canton man faces hearing

Garrett James Owen, 31, of Canton, faces a preliminary hearing at 2:15 p.m. Aug. 19 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox on a charge of "prohibited acts; penalties," according to court papers.

In an affidavit, Canton Police Sgt. Trey Kurtz said he decided to try to locate Owen July 6 because he needed to speak with him about an open investigation and several attempts to contact him by phone were unsuccessful. He drove up to an address on Twigg Lane in Chesterfield Estates in Canton Township, looking for Owen and another person. Kurtz walked to the front door of the trailer and there was no door. Then, he looked inside and saw the door laying on the living room floor, with a muddy footprint on it, where it had been kicked in. Kurtz didn't know if this had just happened or if anyone was in any kind of danger, so he decided to enter and conduct a welfare check. He announced himself several times, stating, "Canton Police Department! Is anyone home?!" When he got no response, he continued back into the hallway, stating, "Canton Police! If anyone is in here, make yourselves known now!"

When he was clearing the rear bedroom, he looked into an already open closet and discovered two hypodermic needles on a shelf beside a package of "CO2 Jets." Then, he finished clearing the residence for people, but found no one. He contacted Pennsylvania State Police because the location was in Canton Township, and was given permission to investigate the incident within their jurisdiction. He gathered the contraband that was in plain view and cleared the scene.

Wilcox said Owen was sent a summons by certified mail.
