DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Michael Evan Losey, 44, of Canton, by Pennsylvania State Police for a crash at 10:20 a.m. June 22 on McFadden Road in Canton Township.

Losey was also charged with two counts of "The Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act: Prohibited Acts; Penalties," according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy. Trooper Joseph Bufalino said the driver of the vehicle in the crash had fled the scene, and was located and detained by the Canton Borough Police Department on Route 414, approximately one-half mile east of the crash scene. He was brought back to the crash scene, in custody of the Canton Borough Police. The driver was identified as Losey. According to the trooper, Losey's pupils were constricted and his voice was slurred and raspy. After a standardized field sobriety test, Losey was placed under arrest for DUI. An affidavit notes that Losey's blood was drawn and laboratory tests indicated the presence of 24 ng/mL of Alprazolam and 97 ng/ML of morphine (free).

Losey was scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing in DUI court Aug. 14 before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark.

Alicia Rebecca Brickey, 18, of Saylorsburg, Pa., by Canton Borough Police following a traffic stop late July 2 along Route 14 near the intersection of Route 14 and Windfall Road in Alba.

Brickey was also charged with careless driving, a violation of "driving on roadways laned for traffic," and a violation of "maximum speed limits 55 mph zone," according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

After receiving a report of a reckless driver around 10:38 p.m. in Canton, Canton Police Sgt. Trey Kurtz said he saw a 2002 Saturn sedan traveling north on Route 14, and according to his calibrated and authorized speedometer, the vehicle appeared to be traveling at approximately 74-76 mph in a clearly posted 55 mph zone. Also, he saw both of the driver's side tires cross the double yellow line on three occasions and the passenger side tires cross the white fog line on two occasions, all within a distance of approximately a mile. He activated his emergency lights and sirens, and initiated a traffic stop along Route 14 near the intersection of Route 14 and Windfall Road. He identified the driver as Brickey. Kurtz observed Brickey and her passenger making slow, sluggish movements while trying to locate their paperwork. Around 1:36 p.m. July 20, Kurtz received a fax informing him that Brickey's blood contained findings of marijuana (Delta-9 THC) and morphine the night of her arrest.

Wilcox said Brickey is scheduled to appear in DUI court Aug. 28 before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark of Towanda.
