Athens woman charged with attempted assault, harassment
Athens Borough Police charged Randi Lynn Keene, 28, of Athens, with simple assault and harassment on Oct. 1 after Keene was involved in a domestic violence incident, Athens police said.
At about 5:20 p.m. on Oct. 1, police responded to a Spruce Street residence in Athens after receiving reports of screaming and thumping from an apartment, police said.
When police arrived, Keene said there was no need for police involvement, but police observed physical injuries on the victim, who was with Keene while she talked to police, specifically both sides of the victim's face, police said.
The victim told police the fight began when the victim addressed Keene's alleged substance abuse and the victim took Keene's cell phone, which then led to her striking the victim, police said.
The strikes caused an abrasion and a laceration, which led to bleeding, on the victim's face, police said.
Keene told police the victim held her down and choked her, but police did not see any signs of physical abuse on Keene.
Keene was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on Oct. 1 and released on nonmonetary bail.
Keene has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Oct. 6 for her preliminary hearing.
