Commissioner debate Thursday
SUNBURY - The seven candidates who are on the ballot for Northumberland County commissioner are scheduled to participate in a debate at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Sunbury Elks lodge.
The Daily Item will host the debate. Invited to participate are Democrats Kymberley Best and George Zalar; Republicans Rick Shoch, an incumbent, and Sam Schiccatano; Libertarians Ed Quiggle Jr. and John Burd; and independent Bill Shambach. The debate is expected to last two hours.
A debate last week, also sponsored by The Daily Item, featured the candidates for district attorney.
Audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions, as will journalists representing The Daily Item, Sunbury Broadcasting Co., the Milton Standard-Journal and The News-Item.
Candidates will not know the questions in advance. Each will be asked to respond to the same question.
