Cell phone taken

HALIFAX TOWNSHIP - State police at Lykens are investigating the theft at a Sheetz Convenience Store at 3625 Peters Mountain Road of a cell phone belonging to a Shamokin man.

According to state police, Robert M. Zimmerman, 43, put his cell phone down when obtaining merchandise and forgot to retrieve it. Zimmerman left the store and when he returned five to 10 minutes later, his phone was missing. Police believe someone stole it. The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Retail theft

MONROE TOWNSHIP - Charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property were filed by state police at Selinsgrove against Adam Poeth, 30, of Sunbury, for the theft of a Wasp Gideon camera at the A&A Auto Store in Monroe Township, Snyder County, at 11 a.m. Sept. 30.

Police said Poeth entered the store, placed the camera into his pants and left without paying for it. They added that when Poeth was stopped by employees, he returned the camera and then fled.

State police said they received numerous tips identifying Poeth as the suspect.

Bicycles found

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here have recovered two bicycles. The owners can claim them by identifying the bikes.

Guilty pleas

SHAMOKIN - Three defendants pleaded guilty to charges Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III.

Levi Reigle, 23, of 1244 Chemung St., Coal Township, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on probation for one year. A charge of possession of heroin was withdrawn.

The charges were filed by Coal Township Detective Jeff Brennan in connection with a May 11 incident at Reigle's home.

Beverly Rosenberger, 36, of 1545 W. Chestnut St., Coal Township, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on probation for one year.

A charge of possession of methamphetamine was withdrawn.

She was charged by Brennan relating to a July 25 incident at her home.

James Vanness Jr., 23, of 203 E. Dewart St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to possession of disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on probation for one year.

Additional charges of simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment were withdrawn.

The charges filed by Shamokin Patrolman William Miner relate to an Oct. 1 disturbance at 189 E. Dewart St. in which Vanness allegedly assaulted and threatened to kill Chelsea Swartzlander.

Charges withdrawn

SHAMOKIN - Charges of simple assault and harassment filed against Christopher Walker, 38, of Shamokin, were withdrawn Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III when the alleged victim, Dana Kestle, couldn't be located by police.

The charges were filed by then Cpl. Darwin Tobias III in July 2013. Police said the alleged assault occurred at a home in the 600 block of East Commerce Street. Tobias is now the city's police chief.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Brian Elliot, Jr., 24, 201 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, is charged with two counts of DUI, careless driving, driving without proper registration, driving without insurance, unauthorized transfer or use of registration, and driving without inspection by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II for an incident that occurred on Sept. 12. Elliot struck a pole while avoiding a pedestrian near Market and Arch streets. He was stopped at Third and Arch streets in Shamokin by Coal Township officer Chris Williams.

Elliot was found to have Clonazepam, Codine and Morphine in his system.
