New Albany man charged in machete incident

Joshua James Bailey of New Albany is accused of swinging a machete at a female, throwing her to the ground, and then holding the machete against her stomach, police said.

The incident occurred between 2 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on June 1 at a location along Front Street in New Albany, state police at Towanda said. State police identified the victim as Paige Marina Williams of New Albany.

As a result of this incident, Bailey has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats, harassment, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness and similar misconduct, police said.

Bailey, 24, waived his preliminary hearing, which had been scheduled for June 5 in Towanda District Court.

Bailey's case has therefore been transferred to the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, where he is scheduled to be arraigned on July 1.

Burglary occurs in Wysox Township

State police at Towanda said they are trying to find out who committed a recent burglary at a job site in Wysox Township.

The offender or offenders broke into two locked trailer doors at the job site and stole numerous items, including a welder, propane tanks, two-way radios, and a torque driver, police said.

The incident occurred sometime between 3 p.m. on June 1 and 7 a.m. on June 2 in the 200 block of Wilson Industrial Road, state police said.

Towanda man accused of hit-and-run crash

Roland R. Hill, 30, of Towanda was the driver in a hit-and-run accident on Bridge Street Hill Road in Towanda Township, police said.

The accident occurred when Hill failed to negotiate a sharp left-hand curve as he was driving south on Bridge Street Hill Road at an excessive speed, police said.

Hill's 2002 BMW 3251 traveled off the right side of the road, struck a flagstone wall, and collided with two mailboxes, police said.

Hill fled the scene after the accident, which occurred at 6:30 a.m. on May 25, state police at Towanda said.

Man charged with possession of drug paraphernalia in Cherry Township

A 53-year-old man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia after he was involved in a recent motor vehicle accident in Cherry Township, Sullivan County, police said.

The accident occurred as 34-year-old Steven Jutras of Palm Harbor, Fla., was driving a truck north on U.S. Route 220 that was towing another vehicle, police said.

The towed vehicle began to swerve back and forth and Jutras lost control of the truck, causing the truck to roll onto its passenger side, police said.

Neither Jutras nor his passenger, 53-year-old Richard Dyer of Largo, Fla., were injured, police said.

While investigating the accident, state police discovered that Dyer was in possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Dyer was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, arraigned, and sent to the Montour County jail in lieu of bail, police said.

The accident occurred at 5:40 p.m. on June 3, state police at Laporte said.

The following person was charged with DUI in Sullivan County:

Pamlea Jo Shoup, 42, of Dushore, by the state police, on May 30, along state Route 487 in Cherry Township. Shoup's blood alcohol content was above the legal limit on the day of her arrest.
