Woman injured

Melanie L. Bellis, 45, of Waverly, N.Y., was moderately injured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:50 p.m. Dec. 10 on Wallace Road in West Burlington Township, said state police at Towanda.

Police said she was traveling north, too fast for conditions, and her Kia Optima left the road on the northbound berm, after traveling over a patch of ice. It struck a tree, causing major damage to the driver's side, and came to final rest in the northbound berm, facing south. Bellis was removed from the vehicle by the Troy Fire Department and EMS and she was transported to Robert Packer Hospital, police said.

Police said she was charged for a violation of "driving vehicle at safe speed."

Man injured

State police at Towanda said Shawn R. McKusick, 24, of Troy, had a minor injury in a one-vehicle accident at 10:50 a.m. Dec. 10 on Route 6 in Burlington Township.

According to police, he was traveling west in his Dodge Durango and was going too fast for conditions on the snow-covered road. Police said he lost control of his vehicle, which left the road and hit a ditch in the eastbound berm. The vehicle overturned onto its roof and came to final rest in the eastbound berm, facing east. His passenger was not injured.

Police said McKusick was charged for a violation of the vehicle code.

Driver not injured

Bradley S. Crum, 25, of Athens, was not injured in a one-vehicle accident at 3:48 p.m. Dec. 26 on State Route 287 in Delmar Township, Tioga County, Pa., said state police at Mansfield.

Police said he was traveling south on the road, which had icy patches, and he lost traction and began to slide while traveling through a right hand curve. Police said he couldn't regain control of his Chevrolet Lumina, which slid across the northbound lane and left the east side of the road. Police said it slid for about 36 feet before the front right corner of the vehicle collided with a utility pole. Then, it began to spin in a counter-clockwise direction, with the right rear side of the vehicle colliding with a guide rail and damaging about 15 feet of guide before coming to rest, facing in a northeasterly direction.
