Garbage bags dumped

State police at Towanda said someone placed approximately 12-15 garbage bags in a dumpster belonging to the Kerry View Trailer Park at 9 p.m. Dec. 21 in Columbia Township, without asking for permission to use the dumpster or living in the trailer park.

An investigation is ongoing.

Juvenile charged in Troy

State police at Towanda said a 17-year-old male juvenile was charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and obstructing administration of law or other governmental function for an incident in December in Troy.

According to police, the juvenile fabricated a written statement and purported it to be the act of another person in an attempt to exonerate himself from any involvement in the criminal activity currently being investigated by police.

Police offered no other details about the alleged incident.

On Feb. 6, a juvenile charging sheet was filed with the Bradford County Juvenile Probation Department charging the juvenile.

Woman charged with scattering rubbish

State police at Towanda said Cassandra Laree Biddle, 26, of Columbia Cross Roads, has been charged with scattering rubbish after it was determined that she was disposing of garbage at 10:40 a.m. Feb. 4 on Lookout Road in Columbia Township.

The victim in the incident was a 67-year-old Athens man, police said.

Traffic snarled

Traffic was tied up briefly around 4:30 p.m. Monday in downtown Troy after an unidentified woman lay down on Canton Street, according to Troy police.

Police did not know the reason for the woman's actions. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital for observation, police said.

Afterwards, traffic got back to normal.

Man charged with robbery

A Towanda man accused of robbing and threatening another person was arrested by state police recently on a charge of robbery.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Samuel Vincent Ackley, 21, has also been charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, and theft by unlawful taking or disposition.

Ackley is accused of threatening Candace Marie Robinson at his residence on Towanda on Feb. 7. During the incident, police reported, Ackley threatened Robinson as well as another person in the residence with a gun and a machete. In addition, Ackley is also accused of removing $30 and two packs of cigarettes from Robinson's purse at the time.

Ackley was arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered the defendant released on non-monetary bail. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 19.

Man cited for simple assault

A Towanda man was cited by state police recently on a charge of simple assault.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Ryan James Allis, 19, has also been charged with harassment. Allis is accused of grabbing Maryellen Forrest during an argument on Feb. 9, and throwing her to the ground, injuring her in the process.

Allis was arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $2,500 bail. Allis' preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 19.

Man faces drug charges

A Towanda man was cited by state police recently, after a routine search of his person allegedly uncovered illegal substances and drug paraphernalia.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Robert Lee Bump, 38, has been charged by state police with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police reported that Bump was taken into custody on Dec. 17 on an unrelated arrest warrant. While at the state police barracks in North Towanda, the report continued, Bump was subjected to search of his person. The search revealed that Bump was carrying a pipe in his sock with a residue which eventually tested positive as marijuana, as well as a substance in a gum package concealed in his underwear. Police said the substance eventually tested positive as methylone (bath salts).

Bump was ordered incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 bail. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 12.

Woman charged with simple assault

A Towanda woman was cited by state police recently on a charge of simple assault.

According to state police, Melissa Diane Ackley, 25, has also been cited for harassment. Ackley is accused of having struck Candice Marie Robinson and Samuel Vincent Ackley Jr., her brother, during an incident on Feb. 7. Melissa Ackley has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on Feb. 19.

Woman cited for criminal trespass

A Wyalusing woman was arrested by state police recently on a charge of criminal trespass.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Tabitha Arlene Vanderpool, 34, has also been charged with overnight accommodations, no person present.

Vanderpool is accused of entering a camper owned by Christopher James Donovan on July 22 at a campsite located in Franklin Township. Vanderpool is also accused, along with an accomplice, of removing several items from the camper without knowledge or permission from the owner.

Vanderpool has been sent a summons to appear before Judge Clark on March 5.

Theft investigated

State police are investigating a theft from the bank account of a 70-year-old woman living in Springfield Township.

Police reported that the victim discovered an unauthorized withdrawal from her bank account in November, in which several thousand dollars were discovered missing.

Man charged with harassment

A Gillett man was cited by state police recently on a charge of harassment.

According to state police, Dereck Charles Davis, 24, was charged with the above offense on Jan. 29. Davis is accused of striking his father in the face while they were arguing.

Juvenile accused of sexual assault

An 11-year-old male juvenile was taken into custody recently on a charge of sexual assault.

According to state police, the male juvenile is suspected of having touched a 6-year-old female juvenile in an inappropriate manner on Jan. 31 in Franklin Township. The male juvenile has been placed in a treatment facility, police said.

Man charged with criminal trespass

A Towanda man was cited by state police recently on a charge of criminal trespass.

State police reported that Benjamin Kinsman, 26, is accused of entering a private residence in Wysox Township on Dec. 11, without authorization to do so.

Man cited for retail theft

A Canton man is facing a charge of retail theft after an incident at Advance Auto Parts in Wysox Township.

State police reported that Cody Page, 25, was cited for the above offense on Feb. 6. Page is accused of removing a pack of Erwin Sawzall blades from Advanced Auto Parts without paying for the merchandise.
