Card swiped

SHAMOKIN - Two men are accused of stealing a debit card from a friend and withdrawing hundreds of dollars from an ATM without her knowledge.

Gerald Lee Bojanac, 26, of 405 E. Sunbury St., Apt. 2-2, Shamokin, and Kenneth Elliott Jr., 24, of 1222 W. Willow St., Coal Township, are charged by Patrolman William Zalinski with access device fraud, criminal conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property.

Police said surveillance footage from a Shamokin ATM showed Bojanac making a $100 withdrawal and Elliott making two withdrawals totaling $300 between midnight and 4 a.m. Jan. 12 using a bank card belonging to Jennifer Sands.

Sands believed they took her card while they were together with friends at a fire company bar, according to a criminal complaint.

Prior to the alleged theft incident, Sands told police she had once allowed Bojanac to use her bank card and pin number to retrieve money from an ATM, and that Elliott was there when that request was made.
