SHAMOKIN - The following hearings took place Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court April 28 in Northumberland County Court, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n Michael A. Long II, 20, of 623 W. State St., Shamokin, waived to court charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property filed by Shamokin Patrolman William Zalinski.
Long, a former employee at Turkey Hill Minit Market on West Lincoln Street, is accused of stealing approximately $1,200 by falsifying register receipts at the end of his shifts on six separate occasions in January while working at the store.
n Renee Austerberry, 28, of 135 N. Marshall St., Shamokin, waived to court two counts of retail theft.
She is charged by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II with stealing $149.49 worth of merchandise from Rite Aid Pharmacy on West Independence Street Feb. 2.
She also is charged by Shamokin Cpl. Bryan Primerano with stealing items from the Dollar General store on East Independence Street Feb. 1.
n Kayla Marie Royer, 25, of 343 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, waived to court a charge of possessing Fetanyl without a prescription at her residence Jan. 26.
The charge was filed by Shamokin Cpl. Darwin Tobias III.
n Gail Anthony, 53, of 622 Scott St., Kulpmont, waived to court charges of theft, receiving stolen property and forgery involving incidents at McDonald's along Route 61.
Anthony is accused of stealing two paychecks totaling $106.42 from Kayla Nash, forging the checks and depositing them in her account at First National Bank. Police said the checks were stolen between July 9 and July 10 while Anthony and Nash were employed at McDonald's.
The charges were filed by Coal Township Patrolman Jason Adams.
n Glenn Hart, 26, of 1001 E. Dewart St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year. An additional charge of possession of a controlled substance was withdrawn.
Hart was charged by Shamokin Cpl. Bryan Primerano with possessing Alprazolam and heroin wrappers Jan. 29.
