District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett reported that the following persons were recently sentenced in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Richard Frankenfield, 56, Albany Twp., Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in Bradford County Correctional Facility for seven months to 23 months, 29 days, fines, costs, restitution, for the offense of Recklessly Endangering another Person. The Pennsylvania State Police arrested Frankenfield following investigation of an incident that occurred in Albany Township.

William Foster Gleason, 51, Canton, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in State Prison for three years to seven years, fines and court costs of $4,000.00, for the offense of four convictions for Indecent Assault. Trooper Brandon Allis of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Gleason following investigation of an incident that occurred in Canton Township.

Tracy Parkhurst, 26, Sugar Run, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 72 hours to six months, fines, costs and restitution of $1,000.00, he will also lose his driver's license for 12 months, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Trooper David Sweeney of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Parkhurst following investigation of an incident that occurred in Wysox Township on April 17, 2014.

Henry Bothwell, 48, Stevensville, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for seven days to six months, fines, costs, restitution of $1,000.00; he will also lose his driver's license for 12 months for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Trooper William McDermott of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Bothwell following investigation of an incident that occurred in Stevens Township on April 26, 2014.

Skyler Smith, 23, Athens, Pa., was sentenced to Probation supervision for a term of 12 months, fines, costs, restitution of $500.00 for the offense of Obstruction of Administration of Law, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Trooper Miranda Musick of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Smith following investigation of an incident that occurred in North Towanda Township on May 14, 2014.

Beth Coleman, 39, Athens, Pa., was sentenced to Probation supervision for a term of 12 months, fines of $500.00 and restitution of $2,103.36 for the offense of Theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Officer George Nichols of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Coleman for the offence on Sept. 6, 2013.

Caleb Chilson, 24, Forksville, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for eight months to 23 months, 29 days, fines of $1,000.00 and restitution of $4,580.00, for the offense of Theft, a felony of the third degree. Trooper Sean Cooney of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Chilson following investigation of an incident that occurred in Monroe Township.

Michael Rogers, 19, Sayre, Pa., was resentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 40 days to 23 months, 29 days, Probation supervision for a term of three years, and court costs for the offense of Corruption of Minors, a felony of the third degree and Indent Assault, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Trooper David Pelachick of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Rogers following investigation of an incident that occurred in Sylvania Borough.

Nicholas Hughes, 21, Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to Probation supervision for a term of 18 months, fines of $750.00 plus $465.00 restitution for the offense of Possession with intent to deliver, a felony, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor. Trooper Michael Adams of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Hughes following investigation of an incident that occurred in Wysox Township.

Robinson will be sentenced on March 30, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Jason Serfas of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Robinson for the offense on Aug. 30, 2014.

Paul Ackerman, 66, Ulster, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Ackerman will be sentenced, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Caroline Rayeski of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Ackerman following investigation of an incident that occurred in Towanda Township on Oct. 12, 2014.

Craig Roote, 35, Horseheads, N.Y., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Roote will be sentenced on March 26, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Gabriel Paduck of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Roote following investigation of an incident that occurred in Wells Township on Oct. 8, 2014.

Dakotah Anthony, 27, Gillett, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Anthony will be sentenced on March 26, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Christopher Schelling of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Anthony following investigation of an incident that occurred in Springfield Township on June 28, 2014.

William Swackhammer, 48, Athens, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Swackhammer will be sentenced on March 30, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Thomas VanFleet of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Swackhammer for the offense in September 2014.

Lindsay Hart, 26, Towanda, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of two counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a felony. Hart will be sentenced on March 16, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Agents of the Pennsylvania State Police Vice and Narcotics Unit arrested Hart following investigation of an incident that occurred in Bradford County.

Joshua Nemeth, 31, Towanda, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Nemeth will be sentenced on March 12, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Sergeant David Lantz of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Nemeth for the offense on May 20, 2014.

Charles Kenyon, 58, Towanda, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Kenyon will be sentenced on March 16, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper James Dughi of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Kenyon following investigation of an incident that occurred in Albany Township on July 31, 2014.

Eric Hurlbert, 23, Athens, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation Hurlbert will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Hurlbert must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving Privilege for 60 days. Officer Derek Dekar of the Athens Borough Police Department filed the charges on Oct. 5, 2014 for the offense in Athens Borough.

Mary Patton, 63, Towanda, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation Patton will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Deer accident

LOWER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - An Elizabethville woman suffered a minor injury in a crash involving a deer at 9:30 p.m. Saturday on Route 147 near Boyles Run Road.

State police at Stonington said a 2007 Nissan Altima, driven by Michelle E. Florczyk, 36, of Elizabethville, was traveling on Route 147 when it struck a deer that had run onto the road.

Florczyk's passengers, John Cade, 41, of Elmira, N.Y., and a 16-year-old female were not injured in the accident.

Grandmother assaulted

THARPTOWN - Brandon Strausser, 33, of 231 Center St., Tharptown, was charged by Patrolman Chad Yoder with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly grabbed his 78-year-old grandmother, Ruth Latsha, by the hair and threw her onto a couch and floor before striking her head off a wall several times at their home.

Latsha suffered injuries to her face, hands and ribs, police said.

The assault occurred at about 4 p.m. Friday.

Strausser was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel and committed to Snyder County Prison in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.

Penney's worker charged

SELINSGROVE - Christina Fischetti, 37, of Freeburg, has been charged by state police at Selinsgrove with theft for allegedly stealing $1,374.99 by making false returns at JC Penney's in the Susquehanna Valley Mall while she was employed at the store over the last six weeks.

Hospital disturbance

THARPTOWN - Barry C. Hughes, 44, of 1119 N. Lombard St., Shamokin, will be charged by Coal Township Patrolman Chris Williams with disorderly conduct involving a disturbance at 7:45 a.m. Sunday in the emergency room at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

Police said Hughes cursed and threatened emergency room personnel.

Teens charged in fight

COAL TOWNSHIP - A 13-year-old male will be charged by Coal Township police with simple assault and harassment relating to a fight shortly before 1 p.m. Jan. 22 at Shamokin Area Middle/High School.

Police said another 13-year-old male involved in the fight will be charged with harassment.

Car theft

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges were filed last week against a borough man accused in two September car thefts within a four-day period.

Edward J. Kleman, 28, of Mount Carmel, is accused of stealing a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu from Kyle Patrick Sept. 12 or Sept. 13. The vehicle was parked outside 113 N. Locust St. Kleman and Michael McGinley, who is not yet charged in the case, were apprehended on Sept. 14 by Virginia state troopers following a vehicle and foot pursuit. The vehicle was crashed and sustained severe damages, according to police. Restitution of $2,000 is sought.

Kleman was arraigned Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones on felony counts of burglary, conspiracy, trespass, theft and receiving stolen property. He also was charged with a misdemeanor of loitering and prowling at night, and remanded to jail on $10,000 bail. All charges were filed by Mount Carmel Lt. Christopher Buhay.

Police said Kleman stole a 2011 Chevy Aveo shortly before 6 a.m. Sept. 9 that was parked with its engine running outside Turkey Hill at Fifth and Market streets. The vehicle was owned by David Slotterback, and was found Sept. 11 on the outskirts of the borough. About $720 in restitution is sought for various items missing from inside the vehicle.

He was arraigned on felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor count of theft from motor vehicle. Separate bail was set at $10,000.

Preliminary hearings in both cases are scheduled for today.

Scattered rubbish

MOUNT CARMEL - John T. Guise Jr., 52, of 215 E. Fifth St., was cited by Chief Todd L. Owens with scattering rubbish. Guise is accused of dumping bags of household trash about 1:30 p.m. Jan. 29 into a Dumpster leased by Community Pharmacy, 49 S. Oak St. His name was discovered on several items in the trash.

Neighborhood dispute

MOUNT CARMEL - Kelly A. McCormick, 27, of 309 S. Market St., was cited by Lt. Christopher Buhay with harassment. She is accused of repeatedly calling names at a neighbor, shoveling snow onto the neighbor's sidewalk and banging on a wall separating their homes.

Ignores commands

MOUNT CARMEL - Kayla Weidow, 25, of 332 S. Market St., was cited by Cpl. David Donkochik with disorderly conduct. She is accused of failing to obey a fire police officer directing traffic during an emergency call about 10:15 p.m. Jan. 29.

Drunken disturbance

MOUNT CARMEL - Andrew Snyder, 47, of 350 S. Vine St., was cited by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with public drunkenness and harassment. He is accused of banging on apartment doors about 2:30 a.m. Friday at 49 S. Oak St. Police said he defecated inside his pants and had no idea where he was.

Liquor theft

MOUNT CARMEL - David H. Cooper, 47, of 416 E. Avenue, was cited by Cpl. David Donkochik with two counts of retail theft for allegedly stealing bottles of Jim Beam whiskey from the State Liquor Store at 136 S. Oak St. on Jan. 31 and Friday.

Suspicious call

SHAMOKIN - A citizen reported receiving a suspicious telephone call from a person claiming to be an officer with the Internal Revenue Service. The caller claimed an arrest warrant existed for the citizen due to unpaid taxes and spoke of settling the matter out of court. The call was reported to local authorities.

Trash charge

MOUNT CARMEL - Marie E. McWilliams, 26, of 309 N. Maple St., was charged by Patrolman William Adamski with scattering rubbish. She is accused of dumping bags of household trash about Jan. 12 in public trash receptacles on Oak Street. Her name was discovered on several items in the trash. Restitution of $10 is sought.

Wysox men face drug charges

Two Wysox men were charged with the use or possession with the intent to use drug paraphernalia following an incident that occurred on Aug. 15 in North Towanda Township.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, Shawn Christopher Lewis, 36, had repeatedly texted another male that had been taken into custody for selling heroin, asking to meet, if "it's different," and how much. Police arranged to meet with Lewis using the male's cell phone. Police then made contact with Lewis and two other males, when Lewis eventually admitted that he was there to buy heroin. Upon searching the three men, police discovered a hypodermic needle in his pocket and a plastic spoon and a hypodermic needle in the pocket of 33-year-old Aaron Lee Vanderpool. The search of the third male was met with negative results.

Vanderpool and Lewis have been sent summons for preliminary hearings scheduled for March 11.

Man charged after failing to comply with Megan's Law requirements

Kevin Corey Jayne, 29, of New Albany was charged with failure to comply with the registration requirements of Megan's Law after police determined that he failed to appear at an approved registration site during a semi-annual verification from Jan. 3 to Jan. 12, according to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office.

Jayne was arraigned before District Judge Michael Shaw and a preliminary hearing has been rescheduled to Feb. 25.

Rome man charged with theft

A Rome man faces charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property following an incident that occurred on Jan. 9 at the Northern Tier Career Center in North Towanda.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, on the above date, Christopher Wilson, 20, returned tools that he had taken without permission while the career center was being remodeled after his mother had discovered the stolen tools, which included various wrenches, sockets and socket wrenches.

Wilson has been sent a summons for preliminary hearing scheduled for March 4.

Towanda man faces assault charges

A Towanda man has been charged with simple assault and harassment after police responded to a loud disturbance on Feb. 3 in Towanda.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, police arrived at the scene and observed injuries on the female victim, who said she was assaulted by Mantee Williams, 48. The victim stated that Williams was verbally assaulting her and as she tried to close the door to her bedroom, his hand got caught in the door. Williams then rushed toward her and struck her six to seven times and threw a lamp at her.

Williams has been sent a summons for a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 18.

Terroristic threats occur in Monroe Township

State police investigated a case of terroristic threats on Jan. 20 after a 16-year-old male threatened to go to the BLaST School in Monroe Township and "shoot everyone" after his cell phone was taken away from him.

State police are investigating a case of theft that occurred sometime between Feb. 2 and Feb. 5 in North Towanda Township after an eight foot aluminum ramp was stolen from Bradco Supply Company.

Minor injuries reported after crash

Two people from Towanda suffered minor injuries after a three vehicle crash that occurred on Feb. 1 in North Towanda Township. According to state police, Scott Hudson, 48, was driving a 2000 Dodge Neon north on State Route 220 when he slid and crossed over the center line and struck a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz driven by a 22-year-old New York male. As a result, the 2011 Ford F-650 following behind the male struck his vehicle as well.

All persons were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash and Hudson and his passenger, Kelly Harvey, 24, were transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda by Towanda EMS for minor injuries. Hudson was charged with crossing over the center line of traffic.

Criminal mischief occurs in Wysox

According to state police, unknown actor(s) caused damage to a Kabota RTV1100 vehicle belonging to M.R. Dirt sometime between Jan. 26 and Jan. 29 in Wysox Township.

Police investigating stolen money

According to state police, an undisclosed amount of money was stolen from a 61-year-old Towanda man on Jan. 20 in Towanda. The incident remains under investigation.

Berwick woman charged after crash

A Berwick woman was charged with driving at an unsafe speed following a one-vehicle crash that occurred on Feb. 5 in Davidson Township in Sullivan County.

According to Laporte state police, Ashlee Fenstermacher, 24, was driving a 2003 Ford Taurus south on State Route 42 when she left the roadway and went over a small embankment, causing the vehicle's undercarriage to strike the embankment.

Fenstermacher was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and was not injured.

Man charged with stealing a fishing pole

On Feb. 10, Towanda Borough Police arrested Jack Stroud, 33, for the theft of fishing pole that was located on Chestnut Street in Towanda, according to a police press release. Stroud was charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Stroud was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 25.

Injuries suffered in crash

Two men suffered injuries as a result of a crash that occurred on Jan. 31 in Tuscarora Township.

According to police, Thomas Kohut, 36, of Exeter was driving a 1997 Dodge Ram west on State Route 6 when he struck the vehicle of Tyler Huffman, 22, of Laceyville, whose vehicle was disabled because of a previous crash. As a result, Huffman's vehicle subsequently struck Austin Wilson, 20, of Muncy, who was attempting to assist Huffman.

Wilson suffered moderate injuries, while Huffman sustained a major injury and was transported to Geisinger Community Medical Center. No one was charged as a result of the crash.

SELINSGROVE - The Courtyard Theater will present "Weekend at Withingham's," an audience participation murder mystery dinner, in late February.

The two-hour production involves "a play within a play," said Bob Taylor, the theater's artistic director.

"The setting is in a restaurant, and the audience is watching a dinner theater," Taylor said. "The people are watching a theater company perform a play called 'Weekend at Withingham's.' That's how it starts out."

And then a murder occurs.

As the play progresses, "the audience will be involved in questioning the suspects, and in writing down who did it, and why," Taylor said.

Taylor, who is directing the play, said that Chris Reis has been cast as Warren Deluth; Tara Fulmer as Claudia Trubundis; Alexis Fulmer as Rachel Teirson; Zach Walborn as Peter Quinn; Eric Kerchoff as Robert Whitaker; and Ted McCollum Jr. as Vinny Padula. Taylor will play the part of Dr. Goldstein.

The theater will present three performances of "Weekend at Withingham's." The show dates are: Feb. 27 and 28 and March 1.

The Friday and Saturday shows will begin at 7 p.m., and the Sunday performance will be a matinee, starting at 2 p.m. Tickets will cost $35 and will include a three-course meal catered by Garfield's Restaurant and Pub.

MOOSIC POLICE: Officers responded to more than 200 calls between Jan. 18 and Feb. 7.

On Jan. 18, officers were dispatched to investigate activated alarms on school and Joyce streets. A hit-and-run accident sent officers to a home in the 800 block of Davis Street. Officers also investigated a parking complaint in the 3300 block of Birney Avenue.

On Jan. 19, officers were dispatched to investigate a reported assault at Oakwood Terrace on Gleason Drive.

On Jan. 20, officers were dispatched to investigate a retail theft at the Turkey Hill on Birney Avenue. A motor vehicle accident (MVA) sent officers to the 4600 block of Birney Avenue. A dog complaint sent officers to the 200 block of Main Street.

On Jan. 21, officers were dispatched to investigate an animal complaint in the 4100 block of Birney Avenue.

On Jan. 22, officers were sent to an MVA in the 1100 block of South Main Street.

On Jan. 23, officers were dispatched to investigate a reported water main break on Birney Avenue. A fraud complaint sent officers to a home in the 3300 block of Cedar Avenue.

On Jan. 24, officers were dispatched to investigate a reported theft from a motor vehicle in the 4900 block of Birney Avenue. An activated alarm sent officers to Glenmaura National Boulevard. Officers responded to a similar call in the 2100 block of Shoppes Boulevard. Officers were also sent to investigate a report of a disorderly person in the 3700 block of Winfield Avenue.

On Jan. 25, officers responded to investigate a harassment complaint in a home in the 500 block of Minooka Drive. A retail theft complaint sent officers to a home in the 3300 block of Birney Avenue. Officers were dispatched to investigate a dog complaint on Columbia Street. Officers were sent to assist emergency medical services (EMS) on Fitzgerald Drive.

On Jan. 26, officers responded to investigate a report of an activated alarm in the 3700 block of Birney Avenue.

On Jan. 27, officers were dispatched to investigate an activated burglar alarm at Glenmaura National Gulf Club.

On Jan. 28, officers were dispatched to investigate a harassment complaint in the 900 block of School Street. A criminal mischief complaint sent officers to a home on Preate Drive. On Jan. 29, officers were dispatched to investigate a road rage incident in the 3600 block of Wylam Avenue. A domestic dispute sent officers to the Moosic Motor Inn on Birney Avenue.

On Jan. 30, officers were sent to an MVA in the 3300 block of Pittston Avenue. A similar call sent officers to the 600 block of Rocky Glen Road. Police were dispatched to a dog complaint in the 3300 block of Birney Avenue. An MVA sent officers to the 4600 block of Pittston Avenue. Officers responded to assist EMS with a call in the 3700 block of Laurel Lane.

An MVA sent officers to the 4600 block of Birney Avenue. Officers were sent to investigate a reported assault in the 600 block of River Street.

A parking complaint sent officers to Ash Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI).

On Feb. 3, officers were dispatched to investigate a report of downed railroad gates at Main and Third streets. Officers were sent to investigate a complaint of lost property in the 4100 block of Birney Avenue. Multiple MVAs sent officers to Birney Avenue and Main streets.

On Feb. 4, officers were sent to investigate a domestic dispute in the 4100 block of Birney Avenue. An MVA sent officers to the same area of Birney Avenue. Officers were sent to a home in the 400 block of Fourth Street.

On Feb. 5, officers were sent to investigate a reported lockout in the 500 block of Gleason Drive. An activated alarm sent officers to a home in the 100 block of Joyce Drive.

On Feb. 6, officers were dispatched to investigate a hit-and-run call in the 2300 block of Shoppes Boulevard. A retail theft sent officers to the 3500 block of Birney Avenue. An MVA sent officers to the 1000 block of Glenmaura Drive.

On Feb. 7, officers were dispatched to investigate an activated alarm in the 900 block of School Street. A report of downed wires sent officers to the 700 block of Main Street.

TAYLOR POLICE: Officers responded to more than 45 calls between Feb. 3-8.

On Feb. 3, officers were dispatched to assist the fire department with a call in a home in the 100 block of Union Street. A theft complaint sent officers to the Riverside High School. Police were sent to investigate an allegation of child abuse in a home in the 600 block of West Taylor Street. A motor vehicle accident (MVA) sent officers to the intersection of Loomis Avenue and North Main Street.

Police responded to investigate a complaint of damaged property in the 400 block of West Atherton Street. A report of a domestic dispute in progress sent officers to a home in the 100 block of South Washington Street. Police also responded to an MVA involving a deer in the 100 block of South Keyser Avenue.

On Feb. 4, officers were dispatched to investigate an activated alarm at Winner’s Circle on Main Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of Union Street. Police also assisted emergency medical services (EMS) with a call in the 200 block of South Main Street.

On Feb. 5, officers were dispatched to an MVA in the intersection of Main and Davis streets. A similar call sent officers to South Washington and Main streets.

On Feb. 6, officers were dispatched to conduct a welfare check inside a home in the 300 block of South Main Street. Officers were sent to the Riverside High School on Davis Street to conduct an investigation. Police also conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Main Street. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.

On Feb. 7, officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of South Main Street. A parking complaint sent officers to the 1300 block of Main Street.

Police were dispatched to issue an arrest warrant in the 600 block of West Taylor Street. Officers responded to an MVA in the intersection of Donny Drive and Mary Circle. A report of a domestic dispute in progress also sent officers to the Walmart on Main Street.

On Feb. 8, police were sent to assist the fire department with a structure fire in the 100 block of North Main Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the Walmart parking lot. During the stop, officers were able to serve an arrest warrant on the driver. Police also responded to an activated burglar alarm at Winner’s Circle on Main Street.

Crash

BURNSIDE - An Elysburg man was cited for a stop sign violation following a crash Tuesday at Route 125 and Burnside Drive in Coal Township.

Harold E. Kase Jr., of 127 S. Maple St., drove a 2005 Peterbilt dump truck from Burnside Drive onto Route 125 and into the oncoming path of a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado driven north by Keith Peifer, of 225 S. Market St., Shamokin.

The crash occurred about 1 p.m., and no injuries were reported. The pickup truck sustained moderate damage and was towed. The dump truck sustained minor damage. Kase was cited for violating the traffic code, duties at stop signs.

Judge Jennifer L. Rogers, presiding over Luzerne County Domestic Relations Contempt Court on Wednesday, ordered the following jailed for failure to pay child support:

Drugs

MOUNT CARMEL - Kaitlyn Ann Else, 26, of 731 Scott St., Trevorton, was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell with a felony count of hindering apprehension or prosecution, two misdemeanor counts of possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor of possession of a controlled substance for an incident occurring at around 1 p.m. June 10 at 149 E. Saylor St.

Police reported Else was found in possession of a glass smoking device, a clear light bulb containing burnt residue, several clear and blue Ziploc bags commonly used to package illegal substances, a black travel case with several syringes and a clear plastic container with black electrical tape around it and a clear liquid inside it.

Police said Damien Michael Slovick, of 149 E. Saylor St., Atlas, and Bryan Scott Shedaker, 30, of Pittsburgh, were previously charged with the same offenses.

Assault, harassment

SHAMOKIN - Penny Jean Miller, 47, and Rebecca Miller, 22, both of 308 S. Fifth St., Shamokin, have each been charged with a misdemeanor count of simple assault and a summary offense of harassment for a fight that occurred at around 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at their home.

Penny told police she had been arguing with Rebecca, who reportedly suffers from behavioral disorders and had not taken her medication, according to court documents. The argument escalated and Rebecca allegedly punched Penny with a closed fist. Each said the other had assaulted her during a physical altercation and both had physical injuries when police arrived.

Children and Youth Services responded to the house due to the arrest of both adults and living conditions that included several weapons, a loaded fire arm, garbage and insects.

While being interviewed by police, Penny suffered what appeared to be a seizure and was taken to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital. Rebecca was taken to the Shamokin police department, where she provided a written statement and was released.

Drug paraphernalia

SHAMOKIN - Loni Jo Hornberger, 35, of 651 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was charged by Shamokin police with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia for an incident that occurred at around 3:30 p.m. Monday at 46 Adams St.

Northumberland County Adult Probation alerted police to the house after they located a missing juvenile and narcotics during a home visit. Officers said Hornberger was found in possession of a bluish-colored straw commonly used for snorting controlled substances. The straw contained a white powder residue, and Hornberger said it was several medications crushed and inhaled through the straw, police said.

A second female, Donna Shaffer, was found to be in possession of two round pink pills, identified as Oxycodone, and white powder residue around her nasal cavities, said police. She was taken into custody by probation officers.

The juvenile was in position of a white powder substance in a clear baggy stored under a pack of cigarettes, said police. He was turned over to Montour County Probation, who has been searching for the youth.

Scattering rubbish

COAL TOWNSHIP - Two individuals have been charged by Coal Township Police for scattering rubbish. In both cases, the trash was found in the mountain area behind Coal Run on land owned by the Susquehanna Coal Company, Marion Heights.

Robert F. Santore, 51, of 217 Third St., Coal Township, was charged after allegedly dumping household trash sometime between Nov. 10 and Jan. 6.

Timothy Kopp, 27, of 719 E. Dewart St., Shamokin, was charged after allegedly depositing and burning household trash sometime between March 14 and Jan. 6.

Drug paraphernalia

SHAMOKIN - Randy B. Elliot II, 25, of 1240 Poplar St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with possession of drug paraphernalia during an incident at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of North Shamokin Street.

Police reported Elliot possessed four syringes commonly used to inject heroin, a silver spoon and four blue packets commonly used to package heroin.

Stepmom assaulted

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Bryan Primerano has charged Belinda Smith, 22, of 403 S. Fifth St., Shamokin, with simple assault, stalking and disorderly conduct relating to a disturbance shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Smith is accused of punching, choking and biting her stepmother, Susan Poltenovage, threatening to kill her with a kitchen knife and removing a credit card and cash from her purse at 403 S. Fifth St.

Scrap metal stolen

RIVERSIDE - Two Shamokin men have been charged with stealing scrap metal valued at $741 from 615 Ave. E Sept. 22.

Thomas E. Mowery, 51, and Caleb V. Robinson, 31, both of 708 Kase St., were charged by Riverside Officer Jennifer Goss with theft, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass for taking the scrap metal belonging to David Martin.

Mowery and Robinson were arraigned Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and released on $10,000 unsecured bail apiece.

Prohibited firearm purchase attempted

An unknown individual attempted to purchase a firearm on Oct. 29 from a Wysox gun store when this person was prohibited from doing so.

According to state police, the individual allegedly falsified an application form stating that he/she was not prohibited from purchasing a firearm. An investigation is on-going.

Counterfeit money used in Wysox

A Houtzdale man was recently charged with forgery, theft by deception and receiving stolen property following an incident that occurred on Nov. 16 in Wysox.

According to police, Michael Pierce, 28, purchased gasoline from a convenience store using a counterfeit $100 bill.

Harassment occurs in Wysox

According to state police, on Feb. 6, an unknown suspect left a note on the door of a 20-year-old Wysox woman stating that she should commit suicide. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.

Police investigating criminal mischief

According to state police, sometime between 8 p.m. on Feb. 8 and 7 a.m. on Feb. 9, unknown actor(s) broke the window of a vehicle belonging to a 65-year-old Monroeton woman and then fled the scene.

Unlawful attempted firearms purchase occurs

On Oct. 21, Athens Township Police received a report of a Pennsylvania Instant Systems Check denial for the attempted purchase of a rifle, made by 22-year-old Nikolay L. Gustev of Centre Hall, Pa. When asked if he had "ever been convicted of a felony or any other crime for which the judge could have imprisoned you for more than one year?" Gustev answered "no." In fact, he was sentenced to five years for a second offense DUI on Nov. 20, 2012.

Gustev was charged with providing false information and unsworn falsification to authorities. He was arraigned on Jan. 9 in front of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and released on his own recognizance.

Burglary investigation ongoing

Some time between July 31 and Dec. 19, an unknown person entered a victim's property on Ghent Hill Road in Sheshequin Township and removed numerous articles and damaged a door. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Pennsylvania State Police at (570) 265-2186. An up to $2,000 cash reward is offered for information that leads to an arrest.

Snow causes accident

On Jan. 8, State Police responded to a one vehicle accident on North Street in Terry Township. The crash occurred as a vehicle, driven by 36-year-old Kathleen Stevens, was negotiating a curve and lost control on the snow-covered roadway. The vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree. The vehicle was removed from the scene by Fulmer's Towing and the driver was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Man charged with simple assault

On Dec. 16, State Police responded to a domestic argument call in which a verbal argument turned physical. Police subsequently charged 36-year-old Jason Shores of Stevensville, with simple assault and harassment. After a preliminary hearing with Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, the assault charge was dismissed and the harassment charge moved to non-traffic court.

Failure to obey stop sign results in crash

On Jan. 8, State Police responded to a two vehicle accident in the area of Windham Summit Road at its intersection with Hill Road in Litchfield Township. A vehicle, operated by 32-year-old Chad Baggerly, failed to stop at a posted stop sign on Hill Road. As the vehicle entered the roadway, it was struck by a second vehicle, traveling west on Windham Summit Road. Both vehicles suffered damage but no injuries were reported. Baggerly was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.

Cashier reported stealing from Lowe's

On Jan. 12, Athens Township Police were called to Lowe's on Elmira Street for a report of an employee committing a theft. Upon their arrival they met with Hannah K. Roach, 24, of Ulster, who admitted that she had been taking money from her register and placing it in her pocket during her shifts as cashier. She admitted doing so nine times, with the money taken totaling $440.

Roach was placed under arrest and charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. After a preliminary hearing on Feb. 10 with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, her case was transferred the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas. She will return for a formal arraignment on March 12 with Senior Judge J. Michael Williamson.

Man charged with marijuana possession

After a traffic stop on Jan. 17 on Route 220 near the PennDOT work station in Milan, Athens Township Police charged 28-year-old Derek M. Wells with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana. During the traffic stop, the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana and subsequently observed a glass pipe and small container of marijuana.

Wells was transported to his residence and later received a summons on the charges. He will face Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Feb. 17 to answer to the charges.

Hit and run reported

On Jan. 8, State Police took a report of a hit and run accident occurring on Fawcett Avenue in New Albany Borough. The report indicated that a vehicle, believed to be blue in color, turned onto Fawcett Avenue, left its lane of travel and side swiped a second vehicle, which sustained minor damage to the driver's side headlight and fender. The vehicle then left the scene without giving any insurance information.

Failure to stop for school bus reported

On Jan. 5, State Police received a complaint from Wyalusing Area School District which stated that a vehicle failed to stop for a school bus with its red light flashing. Investigative leads found the offender to be James E. Seymour III of Waverly. A traffic citation was filed for a school bus violation with the court of Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton.

Hit and run accident reported

A one vehicle accident occurred on State Route 220 in Ulster Township on Jan. 13 according to the State Police. A vehicle was traveling south on Route 220 when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a utility pole. The vehicle then continued traveling in an unknown direction.

Woman charged with criminal mischief

A Wysox woman was cited by state police recently on a charge of criminal mischief.

According to state police, Elizabeth Benjamin, 28, was charged with the above offense following an incident on Feb. 11. Benjamin is accused of smashing the passenger side window of a vehicle owned by Jolene Lane, 58, of Monroeton, as it was parked on Golden Mile Road in Wysox.

Man faces drug charges

A Monroeton man was arrested by the Bradford County Sheriff's Office recently on several drug-related charges.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, William Howard McClintic, 50, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Deputies reported picking up McClintic on Jan. 30 on Route 6 in North Towanda Township. During a search, the deputies reported, they discovered McClintic to be in possession of a white crystal-type powder, was well as several hypodermic needles and a scale.

McClintic was arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $25,000 bail. McClintic's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 18.

Man charged with theft of vehicle

A Towanda man was recently ordered incarcerated in lieu of $20,000 bail on charges he stole a motor vehicle from another person.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Kevin Kinsman, 37, has been charged by Towanda police with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and theft by unlawful taking. Kinsman is accused of taking a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup truck owned by Neil Walker from his property in Towanda on Jan. 23 without the owner's permission. Police said the vehicle was recovered on Jan. 28 on the Berwick Turnpike in Columbia Cross Roads.

Kinsman is scheduled to appear before Judge Clark for his preliminary hearing on Feb. 18.

Woman accused of assault

A Towanda woman accused of assaulting another person with a vehicle is scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on Feb. 18.

According to information filed at Clark's office, Teresa Lynn Trujillo, 34, has been charged by state police with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment.

Trujillo is accused of driving a vehicle on Feb. 10, while her father-in-law William Trujillo was on the hood. Police said the incident occurred on Covered Bridge Road in Burlington Township. William Trujillo informed the police that Teresa Trujillo drove the car for approximately one mile, attempting to dislodge him from the vehicle the whole time. He said she was rapidly accelerating and braking, trying to make him fall from the hood of the vehicle, according to reports. William Trujillo said he eventually was dislodged from the vehicle, and in the process he believed that it had run over his legs.

Man faces various vehicle-related charges

A Nichols, N.Y. man has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark to answer a charge of aggravated assault by vehicle.

According to papers filed at Clark's office, Joshua Tyler Decker, 20, has also been charged by Towanda police with aggravated assault with a vehicle while driving while under the influence; driving while under the influence; reckless driving; driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed; overtaking a vehicle on the left; limitations on overtaking a vehicle on the left; driving on the wrong side of the road; limitations on driving on the left side of the road; and meeting a vehicle proceeding in the opposite direction.

Police reported responding to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Dec. 18 on U.S. Route 220. When they arrived, the police continued, they determined that a Chevrolet Cavalier and a green Jeep were involved in a head-on collision.

Police spoke with several witnesses at the scene, who reported earlier observing the Cavalier being operated in a reckless manner as far back as Dushore. According to witnesses' statements, the Cavalier was observed passing vehicles on curves, passing in posted "no passing" zones, and every other place possible. Clara Hugo of New Albany, the driver of the Jeep, informed police she observed the Cavalier passing several vehicles by traveling north in the southbound lane, which was her lane of travel when the accident occurred. When she realized a collision was imminent, Hugo continued, she let off the gas and attempted to maneuver her vehicle to the right to avoid the crash, but the Cavalier also swerved and the two vehicles collided.

Police determined that the driver of the Cavalier was Decker, who was transported via helicopter to a local medical facility. Police said they obtained samples of Decker's blood, which tests revealed he had cannabinoids in his blood at the time of the crash. Police also reported that Hugo displayed no signs of impairment at the crash scene on the day of the incident.

Decker's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 18.

Man charged with resisting arrest

A Towanda man was cited by state police recently on a charge of resisting arrest.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Joshua Thomas Brown, has also been charged with disorderly conduct.

Police reported being called to Brown's residence on Feb. 6, to assist Memorial EMS, who informed the authorities they feared he may be suffering from an overdose. When police arrived at the scene, the report continued, they found Brown was acting aggressively. Police said they eventually took Brown into custody for safety reasons, and he continued to resist during the procedure.

Brown was arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered the defendant released on non-monetary bail.

Ice causes crash

On Jan. 17, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a one vehicle accident on Sodom Road in Smithfield Township. The driver, 20-year-old Dylan T. Wilcox, was cited for driving vehicle at safe speed after his 1996 Pontiac Grand Am slid off Sodom Road due to an area of ice and struck a tree and a ditch. There were no reported injuries.

Vehicle lands in ditch

On Jan. 8, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a one vehicle accident on State Route 4013, just south of Monkey Run Road in Ridgebury Township. A 2002 Audi A4 driven by 30-year-old Peter Cama left the roadway and traveled into the west side berm. The vehicle then impacted a mailbox and a ditch where the vehicle came to its final resting place.

Cama was uninjured and was cited by troopers for roadways laned for traffic.

Theft from VFW fund reported

On Dec. 10, Pennsylvania State Police troopers were dispatched to the VFW in Asylum Township for a report of the theft of "Christmas fund" money raised for presents given to area children during the holiday. Former bar manager Stacey Jo Garey, 38, of Sayre, was allegedly in charge of the money collected, approximately $500. Garey was fired on Nov. 11. She was asked to return the money within seven days and when she did not, the police were called to intervene.

Garey explained to troopers she usually took the bag home with her at night but at some point the bag was left at the VFW and she lost track of it. She stated she "looked all over for the bag but could not find it."

Based on the information gathered, Garey was charged with one count of misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking.

Failure to stop for school bus reported

On Jan. 21, Pennsylvania State Police received a complaint that John D. Wells, 43, of Athens, had failed to stop for a school bus with the red warning light flashing. A traffic citation was filed for a school bus violation: meeting or overtaking a school bus.

Fight turns violent

On Jan. 10., Pennsylvania State Police responded to a domestic argument that was occurring on Burke Road in Wilmot Township. Upon arrival, troopers observed a victim with blood on their face from a visible cut. The victim relayed that they and Garrett W. Starks, 36, of Sugar Run, had been in an argument and at one point the two were "kind of wrestling on the floor." Starks was charged initially with assault and harassment. After a preliminary hearing on Jan. 20, the assault charge was dropped and the harassment charge was moved to non-traffic court.

K-mart theft occurs

On Jan. 22, Athens Township Police officers responded to a call from the K-mart store in Athens Township for a reported theft by an employee. Upon arrival, officers heard from loss prevention associates who investigated missing money from several cash registers. It was found that 18-year-old Darrin R. Butters of Ulster was taking money from the registers in layaway and electronics by pulling cash through a slot in the drawer. He also admitted to taking unpaid food items from the store for his breaks and continued taking items and money because he "didn't get caught yet." The total amount of cash recorded as stolen was $1,200.

Butters was charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. He is set to face Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on March 10 for a preliminary hearing to answer to the charges.

Retail theft

MOUNT CARMEL - Heather R. Crumb, 29, of 106 Wall St., Danville, was cited by police Chief Todd Owens for retail theft for allegedly attempting to steal 10 DVDs and 12 lollipops from the Dollar General store, 240 S. Market St., at 3:23 p.m. Thursday.

Police said store employees caught Crumb placing the items valued at $60.50 in her purse prior to leaving the store.

Dog loose

SHAMOKIN - Ashley Mutschler, 29, of 239 W. Pine St., was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for allowing her pit bull to run loose in her neighborhood about 2 p.m. Sunday.

Supermarket thefts

SHAMOKIN - Two teenage boys, a 15-year-old from Excelsior and a 17-year-old from Shamokin, were cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with retail theft for allegedly stealing a combined $68.99 in merchandise from Weis Markets about 8 p.m. Feb. 7.

Foul language

SHAMOKIN - Barry C. Hughes, 44, of 1119 N. Lombard St., was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with disorderly conduct. Hughes is accused of using obscene language toward police officers during an incident outside his home about 8:10 p.m. Feb. 6.

Liquor law violations

KULPMONT - Jan Sobieski Society, 35 S. 10th St., Kulpmont, was cited Dec. 12 by the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for several liquor law violations committed between Jan. 1 and Dec. 8, 2014.

The club was cited for failing to adhere to by-laws, failing to maintain complete and truthful records covering the operation of the licensed business for two years immediately preceding Dec. 8, 2014, failing to maintain records in conformity with the provisions of the liquor code and Title 40 of the Pennsylvania Code, failing to return its catering club liquor license to the board after the licensed establishment had not been in operation for 15 consecutive days between Oct. 26 and Nov. 21, 2014, and failing to have a board-approved manager complete Responsible Alcohol Management Program (RAMP) training within 180 days of the board's approval of the appointment.

The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses.
