Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett reported that the following persons were recently sentenced in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Joshua Nemeth, 31, of Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for five days to six months, fines, costs, restitution of $300, he will also lose his driver's license for 12 months, an additional license suspension of 12 months will be imposed for refusal to submit to testing when arrested, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Sergeant David Lantz of the Towanda Borough Police arrested Nemeth for the offense on May 20, 2014.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett reported that the following persons recently entered pleas of guilty in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Cynthia Kennedy, 51, Columbia Cross Roads, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Theft by Deception, a felony of the third degree. Kennedy will be sentenced on April 30, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Michael Northup of the Troy Borough Police Department arrested Kennedy for the offense in January 2014.

Nicholas Fitzpatrick, 20, Waverly, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Burglary, a felony of the second degree. Fitzpatrick will be sentenced on April 30, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Denny Slater of the Athens Township Police arrested Fitzpatrick for the offense in December 2014.

Andrew Bailey, 27, Towanda, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a felony. Bailey will be sentenced on April 27, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Agents of the Pennsylvania State Police Vice and Narcotics Unit arrested Bailey following investigation of an incident that occurred in North Towanda Township.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett reported that the following persons were recently accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Scott Rigsby, 20, Newburg, Mo., charged with the offense of Driving under Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of nine months. While on probation, Rigsby will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Rigsby must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 90 days. Officer Andrew Stevens of the Athens Borough Police arrested Rigsby for the offense on Nov. 22, 2014, in Athens Borough.

Charles Magahan Jr., 47, Athens, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of nine months. While on probation, Magahan will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally Magahan must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Officer Derek Dekar of the Athens Borough Police Department filed the charges on Dec. 6, 2014, for the offense in Athens Borough.

Brook Campbell, 19, Canton, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of nine months. While on probation, Campbell will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Campbell must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and she will lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for 90 days. Trooper Joseph Bufalino of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Campbell for the offense.

Shelby Bennett, 21, Monroeton, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of nine months. While on probation, Bennett will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Bennett must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and she will lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days. Trooper Tyler Brackman of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Bennett for the offense.

Aubriana Barbi, 24, Athens, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of nine months. While on probation, Barbi will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Barbi must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and she will lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Officer Thomas VanFleet of the Athens Township Police who arrested Barbi filed the charges on Oct. 12, 2014 for the offense in Athens Township.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett reported the following criminal case resolutions in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

SENTENCED

Robert Elliott, 41, of Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 45 days flat and County Intermediate Punishment for 24 months. County Intermediate Punishment involves a combination of restrictions and supervision. It may include home confinement, electronic monitor, and substance abuse treatment. Violations can result in incarceration. Elliott will pay fines of $1,500 plus court costs, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Officer Nathan Ross of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Elliott for the offense in November 2014.

Malinda Myers, 27, Waverly, N.Y., was sentenced to fines, costs, restitution of $500, for the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The court imposed no sentence for probation supervision because Myers is under supervision in New York. Officer Derek Watkins of the Sayre Police Department arrested Myers for the offense in 2012.

Rex Peters, 25, of Wysox, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in Bradford County Correctional Facility for six months to 13 months, for the offense of Criminal Trespass. Trooper Joshua Fisher of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Peters following investigation of an incident that occurred in Wysox Township.

GUILTY PLEAS

Leah Ann Turner-Rouille, 20, Towanda, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Disorderly Conduct, a summary offense. Turner-Rouille was sentenced to pay a fine of $50, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Ryan Edsell of the Towanda Borough Police arrested Turner-Rouille, for the offense on Nov. 10, 2014.

Ryan Carr, 22, Towanda, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Disorderly Conduct, a summary offense. Carr was sentenced to pay a fine of $50, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Ryan Edsell of the Towanda Borough Police arrested Carr for the offense on Nov. 10, 2014.

Kimberly Wilkinson, 40, Athens, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Wilkinson will be sentenced on April 27, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Derek Dekar of the Athens Borough Police Department arrested Wilkinson for the offense on Oct. 11, 2014.

Tonya Cummings, 46, Canton, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Cummings will be sentenced on April 30, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Joshua Fisher of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Cummings following investigation of an incident that occurred in Granville Township.

Malinda Myers, 27, Waverly, N.Y., entered a plea to a Drug Paraphernalia offense, a misdemeanor. Myers will be sentenced, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Derek Watkins of the Sayre Police Department arrested Myers for the offense in 2012. Myers had been placed in the ARD diversionary program but failed to comply with the program. ARD was revoked and the case was called for trial.

Tyler Kutz, 28, Canton, Pa., entered a plea to the offense of Access Device Fraud, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Kutz will be sentenced, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Michael Mislevy of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Kutz following investigation of an incident that occurred in Canton Borough. Kutz had been placed in the ARD diversionary program but failed to comply with the program. ARD was revoked and the case was called for trial.

Terry Hackenberg II, 26, Lock Haven, Pa., formerly of Columbia Cross Roads, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Hackenberg will be sentenced on April 30, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Hackenberg had been incarcerated for seven months following the arrest. Trooper Brandon Allis of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Hackenberg following investigation of an incident that occurred in Columbia Township.

Kenneth Howes, 31, Sayre, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance, (heroin). Howes will be sentenced, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Robert Hutchison of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Howes following investigation of an incident that occurred in Towanda Borough.

Levi Sutton, 21, Athens, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Criminal Trespass, a Felony of the third degree, Theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Sutton will be sentenced, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Chief Christopher Hutchinson of the Athens Borough Police Department arrested Sutton for the offence in October.

Joshua Ray Vanderpool, 26, Rome, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Fleeing and Eluding, a felony of the third degree. Vanderpool will be sentenced on April 30, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer John Fedorchak of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Vanderpool for the offense in February 2014.

Tyler Cordner, 20, Monroeton, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Cordner will be sentenced, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper McDermott of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Cordner following investigation of an incident. Cordner had been placed in the ARD diversionary program but failed to comply with the program. ARD was revoked and the case was called for trial.

Cody Parsons, 23, Towanda, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Theft, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Parsons will be sentenced, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Corey McLinko of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Parsons for the offense.

Cody Parsons, 23, Towanda, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Harassment, a summary offense. Parsons will be sentenced, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Ryan Edsell of the Towanda Borough Police Department arrested Parsons for the offense in November.

Parsons will be sentenced, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. James Rinehuls, 34, Nichols, N.Y., entered a plea of guilty to the offenses of Theft, a felony of the third degree, Receiving Stolen Property, a felony of the third degree, forgery, a felony second degree and Access Device Fraud a misdemeanor. Rinehuls will be sentenced following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Timothy Cahill of the Athens Borough Police Department arrested Rinehuls for the offense in October.

Heather McMahon, 27, Wysox, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. McMahon will be sentenced, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Bryan Bellows of the Towanda Borough Police arrested McMahon for the offense in June 2014. McMahon had been placed in the ARD diversionary program but failed to comply with the program. ARD was revoked and the case was called for trial.

Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD)

Dustin Shedden, 24, Spencer, N.Y., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of nine months. While on probation, Shedden will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Shedden must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days. Officer Andrew Stevens of the Athens Borough Police Department filed the charges on Dec. 5, 2014 for the offense in Athens Borough.

Daniel Leljedal, 19, Towanda, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation, Leljedal will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Leljedal must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 90 days. Trooper Michael Tribendis of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Leljedal for the offense.

Michele Bush, 49, Sayre, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of nine months. While on probation, Bush will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Bush must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel. Sergeant Keith Stackhouse of the Athens Township Police Department filed the charges on Nov. 5, 2014, for the offense in Athens Township.

Scott Allis, 23, Wysox, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation, Allis will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Allis must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Trooper David Sweeney of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Allis for the offense.

Michael W. Roman, 50, Stevensville, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on Probation for a term of 24 months. While on probation, Roman will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Roman must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days. Trooper James Dughi of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Roman for the offense in Standing Stone Township in June.

Nolo Contendere

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett announced that the following person(s) recently entered a plea of Nolo Contendere in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Todd M. Eccleston, 47, Waverly, N.Y., entered a plea of nolo contendere/no contest to Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Eccleston will be sentenced in April, following preparation of a pre-sentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. A no-contest plea is entered where the defendant cannot recall the event but will be held guilty and sentenced. Officer Derek Watkins of the Sayre Police Department arrested Eccleston for the offence in September.

Three sentenced in separate DUI cases

SUNBURY - Three defendants charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance were sentenced Monday by Northumberland County President Judge William H. Wiest.

- Stacey Duran, 28, of Kulpmont, was ordered to complete five years intermediate punishment with the first 90 days on house arrest. Duran also was fined $1,500, must pay assorted costs and had her driver's license suspended for 18 months.

Duran was charged by Point Township police with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with an Aug. 27 incident.

- William Slusser, 43, of Mifflinville, was ordered to serve six days to 12 months in Northumberland County Prison, beginning April 11, and must pay $2,000 in fines plus costs. He had his driver's license suspended for 12 months.

Slusser was charged by Mount Carmel police and state police at Stonington with DUI relating to incidents Sept. 11, 2013, and Dec. 27, 2013, respectively.

- Nicole Albertson, 23, of Milton, was sentenced to three days to six months in county prison and had her driver's license suspended for 12 months. She was fined $1,000 plus costs.

Albertson was charged by Shamokin police with driving under the influence of a controlled substance involving an Aug. 31 incident.

DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Phillip Stephen Cosilmon, 25, of Athens, by Athens Borough Police, on Feb. 28 on North Main Street in Athens Borough. Cosilmon was also charged with having an open container in his vehicle. A blood test later revealed Cosilmon's blood alcohol content to be .121 percent and also revealed THC in his system. Cosilmon has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 24 for his preliminary hearing.

Micah Joseph Trowbridge, 27, of Sayre, by Athens Borough Police, on March 1 on North Elmira Street in Athens Borough. Trowbridge was also charged with driving on the wrong side of the roadway. A blood alcohol test later revealed Trowbridge's blood alcohol content to be .17 percent. Trowbridge has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 24 for his preliminary hearing.

Sayre man charged in Walmart theft

Patrick Joseph Henderson, 24, of Sayre, was charged with retail theft after stealing several items from the Sayre Walmart, Athens Township Police said.

On Feb. 14, Henderson was seen taking a cart of merchandise into the Walmart restroom where it appeared he put some of the items in a diaper bag that he also picked up while in the store, police said.

Walmart's asset protection associate said Henderson left the store without attempting to pay for the items, according to police.

On Feb. 12, police said Henderson did the same thing and took five pack of beef jerky.

According to police, the total amount of merchandise stolen on both dates was $402.16, with one of the stolen items being an ASUS tablet.

The asset protection associate notified police that Henderson would be receiving a Notice of Trespass from Walmart headquarters and will not longer be allowed in the Elmira Street store.

Henderson has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 5 for his preliminary hearing.

Sayre man charged with drug, paraphernalia possession

Robert Clark Garris III, 18, of Sayre, was charged with marijuana and paraphernalia possession, according to Athens Borough Police.

Police said Garris was charged after police stopped a vehicle he was riding in and found a cellophane wrapper with a green leafy substance that field tested positive for marijuana.

Police also found a Mountain Dew bottle with the bottom cut and burnt residue on the bottle.

Garris has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 5 for his preliminary hearing.

Theft in Ulster

A concrete pig statue was stolen from an Ulster home on March 24 between 10 a.m. and 3:15 p.m., state police said.

Police said James Donovan, of Ulster, said the perpetrator took the statue and fled in an unknown direction.

One injured in Sheshequin accident

According to state police, Eric F. Eberlin, 24, of Milan, was injured after hitting a Kenworth dump truck with the 2000 Ford Escort he was driving.

Police said on March 26, Eberlin was turning left onto Sheshequin Road off of Bridge Street in Ulster.

Eberlin pulled out in front of the dump truck, driven by Lee S. Jackson, 49, of Troy, and collided with the dump truck, police said.

Police said both drivers were wearing seatbelts, but Eberlin suffered minor injuries.

The Ford required towing, police said.

Eberlin was cited for failure to obey stop and yield signs.

Vandalism

COAL TOWNSHIP - Richard Madden, 29, of 1223 Pulaski Ave., reported his 2008 black Ford Mustang vehicle was vandalized while it was parked just near his residence sometime between Saturday and Sunday.

Police said the damage consisted of deep scratches all over the vehicle.

Crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police said Jessica Hubler, 66, of 211 N. Franklin St., Shamokin, lost control of her vehicle due to icy roads and struck a guard rail on Route 61 near the Shamokin/Coal Township boundary line at around 8 a.m. Saturday.

Hubler was uninjured but the vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene, police said.

Criminal mischief

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police said a window was broken on a garage at 909 W. Holly St. sometime between March 1 and 6 p.m. Friday.

MONTOURSVILLE - Two local organizations were cited Thursday for liquor law violations by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement.

The Independence Fire Association of Shamokin, Market and Arch streets, Shamokin, were cited for a gambling violation, either posessing or operating gambling devices or paraphernalia or permitted gambling or lotteries, poolselling and/or bookmaking on a licensed premises. The offense occurred Jan. 31.

The Sons of Poland Beneficial Society, 21 N. Oak St., Mount Carmel, was cited Jan. 25 for sales to non-members, failure to require patrons to vacate the bar area later than a half-hour after the required time that serving should stop, permitting patrons to possess and removed alcohol from the bar after 3:30 a.m., and selling or giving liquor or brewed beverages between 3 and 7 a.m.

The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. The judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge.

Disturbance at courthouse

SUNBURY - Irene Wolfe, 24, of Coal Township, was cited Deputy Sheriff Edward Griffiths for disorderly conduct for causing a disturbance Monday afternoon at Northumberland County Courthouse.

After a hearing before Judge Anthony Rosini on the first floor, Wolfe began yelling obscenities in the hallway at about 5 p.m. After numerous warnings by deputy sheriffs to stop her actions, Wolfe continued her unruly behavior, according to Griffiths.

Upon receiving a copy of her citation, Wolfe threw it in the trash and exited the courthouse.

Vehicle strikes tree along SR 414

Scott M. Leddy, 33, of Bellefonte, Pa., was uninjured in a recent motor vehicle accident on state Route 414 in Bradford County, police said.

The accident occurred when Leddy lost control of his vehicle on the wet roadway while negotiating a left curve, police said.

The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, state police at Towanda said.

The accident occurred at 12:20 p.m. on March 20, 492 feet west of McNeal Mountain Road, police said.

Harassment incident occurs in Wysox Township

State police said they are seeking information about an incident that occurred at 12:45 a.m. Sunday at a Dandy Mini Mart on U.S. Route 6 in Wysox Township.

An unidentified male got into an argument with a 50-year-old man and then tried to punch him, but missed, police said.

The unidentified male then fled the scene in a white pickup truck, police said.

Towanda man accused of attempting to shoplift

Ryan Michael Carr, 22, of Towanda was charged with retail theft following a shoplifting incident on Sunday at the Family Dollar store in North Towanda Township, police said.

Carr concealed $17.72 worth of items in the store and then tried to leave without paying for them, state police at Towanda said.

No injuries in crash

State police at Towanda said a 17-year-old Canton female will be cited for careless driving as a result of a crash that occurred at 7:32 p.m. March 23 on Route 14 in Troy Township.

Police said she wasn't injured.

According to police, she was traveling south in a Ford Focus, and lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a left curve. It then crossed the west shoulder and traveled approximately 45 feet, where it struck a house. Then, it spun in a clockwise direction and traveled in a south/east direction for about 20 feet, where it came to final rest on the west shoulder, facing east.

Woman charged in crash

Libby Mae Jones, 31, of Troy, faces a preliminary hearing/fast track waiver April 24 before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark of Towanda on DUI and other charges for a one-vehicle crash that took place at approximately 6:41 p.m. March 1 on Route 6 in Troy Township, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

The papers note that Jones is also charged with a violation of "required financial responsibility," a violation of "driving on roadways laned for traffic," a violation of "driving vehicle at safe speed," and careless driving.

According to an affidavit, Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Caroline Rayeski received a call for a one-vehicle crash and saw a white Lincoln Aviator SUV at final rest, with its driver's side against a tree. Contact was then made with the driver, who was identified by her Pennsylvania driver's license as Libby Mae Jones. Jones told police she had approximately two beers and had also taken her prescription medication.

Police said Jones' blood-alcohol content was .287 percent and she had Lorazepam, Sertaline, and Desmethylsertraline in her system.

Wilcox said Jones was sent a summons by mail.

 

Man charged with possession

State police at Towanda said charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox's office in Troy after Darrell Lee Struble, 32, of Troy was found to be in possession of a controlled substance at 9 p.m. March 22 on Route 14 in Troy Township, and indicated he planned on selling it.

According to police, he was also charged with "furnishing drug-free urine," when he was found to be in possession of a false bladder during a routine drug screening by the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole.

 

Mailboxes damaged

State police at Towanda said Ronald Scott Castle, no age given, of Troy, said that an unknown person damaged his mailbox between 4 p.m. March 28 and 10 a.m. March 29 on Leona Road in East Troy, Troy Township.

In addition, Carol A. Jenkins, 67, of Springfield Township, told police an unknown person used a blue blunt object to damage her mailbox sometime between 6 p.m. March 24 and 1:15 p.m. March 25 on Leona Road in Springfield Township. The person fled in an unknown direction, police said.

Man charged

A Gillett man accused of failing to provide the authorities with necessary information under the sexual offender act is scheduled to appear today before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark.

According to information filed in Clark's office, Michael Lee Hetherington, 62, has also been charged by state police with obstructing administration of law or other government function. Hetherington, whom the affidavit indicated is a convicted sexual offender, is accused of purchasing a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier in March but failing to register the action with the authorities within three business days as required by law.

Hetherington was arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered the defendant released on non-monetary bail.

Man charged with possession

A Rome man accused of possession of drug paraphernalia has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to information filed at Clark's office, Derek Andrew Hovan, 19, was charged by Towanda police with the above offense following a traffic stop at the Dandy Mini Mart in Wysox on March 4. Police reported seizing a glass smoking device of the type commonly used to smoke marijuana that was inside the vehicle. Hovan is scheduled to appear before Judge Clark on May 1.

Man cited for possession of drug paraphernalia

A Towanda man was recently charged by the Bradford County Sheriff's Department with possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Travis John Kinner, 25, was cited for the above offense on March 25. On that date, according to the report, sheriff's deputies arrived at a private residence to search for Kinner who was wanted on an unnamed charge. Kinner was located at the residence, the report continued, and after being taken into custody, deputies found a black leather pouch containing a glass pipe with burnt residue, a hypodermic needle, a silver spoon with burnt residue and a purple straw. Kinner identified the items as his property, according to the report, and he was later arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $1,000 bail. Kinner's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 8.

Man accused of manufacturing methamphetamine

A Wyalusing man was arrested by state police recently on a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Donald Joseph Ramey, 47, has also been charged with possession of substances necessary for the manufacture of methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; improper display of a license plate; and operating a motor vehicle without a proper certificate of inspection.

Ramey was charged following a traffic stop on March 12 in Ulster Township on U.S. Route 220 near the Dandy Mini Mart. During the stop, police asked Ramey, the driver of the vehicle, if they could search it, to which he consented. Police said they found four hypodermic needles, a box of nasal decongestant, two packs of batteries, a full can of Coleman Camp Fuel, and other items related to the manufacture of methamphetamine. In addition, the report continued, police found a red plastic container holding what was believed to be either methamphetamine, bath salts, or a combination of both.

Ramey was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Man faces theft charge

A Towanda man was arrested by borough police recently on a charge of theft by unlawful taking.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Derick Chad Fabyan, 27, has also been charged with terroristic threats.

Police said they investigated a report they received on March 9 about Fabyan, concerning his possession of a large amount of women's clothing. The report indicated Fabyan has a history of stealing such items in town, and police spoke with Fabyan at his residence around 11:25 p.m. about the matter. Fabyan initially told the police he had received the clothing from a blonde woman at the Dandy Mini Mart in Towanda, the report continued, but when police asked to see the items he became belligerent and refused to cooperate further. Police warned Fabyan that he was obstructing their investigation, but he continued to defy their instructions to let them see the clothing. Fabyan was eventually taken into custody, and a search of his room revealed a large amount of women's clothing, children's clothing, small children's clothing, and women's underwear.

While being transported to the Towanda police station, the report continued, Fabyan began screaming at the arresting officer, making threats. After being placed in a holding cell, Fabyan confessed to taking the clothing from the Rainbows End store in Towanda, and that he had done so several times in the past.

Fabyan was arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Man charged with possession

A Towanda man was cited by the Bradford County Sheriff's Department recently on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Jesse Michael Gallagher, 35, was charged with the above offense on March 11 after being taken into custody on an unrelated matter. Deputies reported going to a private residence in Towanda looking for Gallagher, who was wanted on an arrest warrant. They found Gallagher at the residence, deputies said, and when they took him into custody they found a small plastic baggie on his person containing a substance suspected of being bath salts.

Gallagher was arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $1,000 bail.

Man accused of scattering rubbish

A Towanda man was cited by state police recently on a charge of scattering rubbish.

According to state police Michael Todd Benjamin, 29, was cited for the above offense in January following an incident that occurred on Saco Road in Ulster Township. Police reported receiving a complaint of rubbish being scattered on a gas pad owned by Chesapeake Energy. When they arrived at the scene, police continued, they found 12 bags of garbage on the pad. Further investigation revealed mail inside one of the bags addressed to Benjamin, the report continued.

Police said they later spoke to Benjamin at his residence about what they had found, and he confirmed that he had dumped the garbage bags on the gas pad.

Benjamin has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on April 22.

Three accused of illegal entry

Three people accused of entering a cabin and removing several items are facing several charges related to the incident.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Joshua Lee VanBuren, 23, of Canton, Jon-Erik Lee Crawford, 23, of Canton, and Christopher Daniel John Evans, 23, of Canton, have each been charged with overnight accommodations, no person present; criminal trespass; theft by unlawful taking; and receiving stolen property.

The three have been accused of entering a cabin on March 20 located on Millstone Road in Overton Township owned by Charles Edward Strickland. The three gained entry via an unlocked door, according to the report, then drank alcohol, coffee and water belonging to Strickland, and built a fire in the wood stove to stay warm. After getting warm, VanBuren, Evans and Crawford cleaned the cabin in an attempt to make it appear they had not been on the premises, then took several items before leaving the scene.

Strickland arrived at the cabin a short time later and noticed several footprints leaving the scene. Strickland drove in the direction the footprints were heading, and eventually discovered VanBuren, Crawford and Evans walking about one mile away. Strickland gave the three a ride to the Powell Township building, then notified the state police.

Police reported that when they contacted VanBuren, Evans, and Crawford, they were wearing clothing belonging to Strickland, and were in possession of certain other items taken from the cabin. The three men were taken into custody and signed confessions, state police said.

Woman charged with illegal possession

A New York woman was arrested by the Bradford County Sheriff's Department recently, on a charge of illegal possession of a controlled substance.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Emily Elizabeth Kinsella, 23, of Unadilla, was cited for the above offense on March 16. Sheriff's deputies reported taking Kinsella into custody at the Bradford County Courthouse, after her bail was revoked during a hearing on an unrelated incident. During a standard pat-down search, according to the report, deputies found Kinsella to be in possession of hydrocodone, a schedule two controlled substance. Kinsella informed the deputies that she did not possess a prescription for the hydrocodone.

Man cited for possession of drug paraphernalia

A Wysox man was recently cited by the Bradford County Sheriff's Department, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, Shane Ian Furman, 26, was charged with the above offense after being taken into custody on Feb. 20 at Jackson's Trailer Court for an unrelated incident. During a routine search, according to the report, police found a metal pipe of the type typically used to smoke marijuana.

Man charged with receiving stolen property

A man accused of taking a vehicle without authorization was recently arrested by the state police on a charge of receiving stolen property.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, Stacy Wayne Mann, 34, whose address is listed as S.C.I Waymart, Pa., was charged with the above offense following an incident in August 2013 on U.S. Route 187 in Asylum Township. A red car was struck on Route 187 by another vehicle which was attempting to turn onto the highway from French Town Road. The red car then fled the scene, traveling up Liberty Corners Road. Police said they later recovered the car on Beirne Hill Road in Monroe Township, and determined it had been reported stolen from the York Regional Police Department. Testing Services Inc. is listed as the owner of the vehicle.

On March 6, 2015, the report continued, police interviewed a witness to the incident, who reported being picked up by Mann in York in a red Mazda car on the day the accident occurred, then traveling to Wysox. The witness explained that they were on Route 187, when the Mazda was struck by another vehicle. The witness told the police that Mann told him after the crash that "he isn't going to jail today," and fled the scene. The witness also informed the police that Mann drove the car up a back road before they abandoned it. Mann had initially told him he was borrowing the car from a friend, the witness explained, but then later confessed that he found the keys in the vehicle and stole it.

Mann's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 28 before Judge Wheaton.

Man accused of criminal trespass

A man was cited by state police recently on a charge of criminal trespass.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, Jeffrey Allen Martin, 43, whose address is listed as the Bradford County Correctional Facility, was charged following an incident that occurred on Jan. 31 at the Comfort Inn in Wysox.

On that date, the reported continued, police were called to the Comfort Inn to investigate a complaint of an individual entering a room without permission. When they arrived, police said, they spoke with the person who made the report, who said he had discovered Martin in his room, without his permission. In addition, the person said, he discovered Martin had removed his belongings from various drawers.

Police said they determined that Martin was a registered guest at the Comfort Inn on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, in room 109, which was the adjoining room to the one he is accused of entering illegally.

Martin's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 14 before Judge Wheaton.

Man charged with possession of drug paraphernalia

A Rome man has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, to answer a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to information filed in Wheaton's office, Roger Lynn Evans, 18, was cited by state police for the above offense, following an incident on Feb. 19 at Northeast Bradford High School. Police were called to the school where administrative personnel indicated that they had seized a pipe from Evans, who admitted he had been smoking marijuana in the bathroom. Police said they field tested the burned residue found in the pipe, which tested positive as marijuana.

Evans has been sent a summons to appear before Judge Wheaton on April 14.

Rubbish scattered

State police are investigating an incident of scattering rubbish that occurred recently on Battle Creek Road in Rome Township.

According to police, unknown persons threw several bags of garbage over an embankment between Feb. 17 and March 10. Anyone with information about the incident is requested to contact the state police at (570) 265-2186.

No injuries

No injuries were reported when a two-vehicle crash occurred recently in Herrick Township.

According to police, the crash occurred around 9:40 a.m. on March 19 on Herrickville Road. A 2004 Sterling operated by Dell Eastabrook, 57, of Wyalusing, was traveling south on Herrickville Road, while a 2013 Kenworth operated by Kirk E. Knight, 54, of Clarks Summit, was heading north. While in the process of passing each other, the report continued, the plow of the Sterling struck the back fender of the Kenworth.

Police said that Eastabrook would be cited for crossing the center line of traffic.

Burglary investigated

State police are investigating a burglary that occurred recently at a construction site in Wyalusing Township.

According to police, perpetrators drilled holes through rivets that held the back door of a work trailer owned by Buynak Construction of Towanda, located on Canyon Road in Wyalusing Township. After gaining entry to the trailer, the thieves stole two rolls of electrical wire. The incident occurred between 5 p.m. on March 13 and 10 a.m. on March 16. Anyone with information about the incident is requested to contact the state police at (570) 265-2186.

DUIs

The following people were charged recently with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Michelle Lee Bates, 39, of Laceyville, has also been charged by state police with crossing the center line of traffic; careless driving; and failure to wear her seatbelt. Bates was charged following a vehicle crash on Feb. 19 on LeRaysville Road in Pike Township. After being taken into custody, Bates was transported to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment of her injuries. While there, Bates agreed to submit to a blood test, which eventually revealed that Bates' blood alcohol content was .097 percent on the day of her arrest.

Benjamin Wayne Johnson, 35, of Eufaula, Okla., has also been charged by state police with careless driving. Johnson was charged following an investigation, in which a driver (Johnson) was reported to be operating his vehicle erratically. Johnson was taken into custody and transported to Memorial Hospital, where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Johnson was under the influence of a psychoactive stimulant on the day of his arrest. Johnson has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on April 7.

Patricia Ann Stroud, 51, of Towanda, has also been charged by state police with crossing the center line of traffic, careless driving, and failure to use her headlights at night. Stroud was charged on Feb. 21 following a traffic stop on U.S. Route 187 in Asylum Township. After being taken into custody, Stroud was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda where she agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Stroud's blood alcohol content was .148 percent on the day of her arrest.

Robert Joseph Douglas, 40, of Laceyville, has also been charged by the state police with operating a vehicle while his license was suspended or revoked, careless driving, and restrictions on alcoholic beverages. Douglas was charged following a hit-and-run accident that occurred on March 1 in Towanda Township. Information the state police obtained from the scene allowed them to locate a black Dodge Neon on Lime Hill Road in Wyalusing Township operated by Douglas. After being taken into custody, Douglas was transported to Memorial Hospital where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Douglas' blood alcohol content was .084 percent on the day of his arrest.

Michael Thomas Donnelly, 40, of New Albany, has also been charged by Towanda police with careless driving, driving the wrong way on a one-way street, restrictions on alcoholic beverages, and disorderly conduct. Donnelly was charged on March 21, following a traffic stop on Washington Street in Towanda Borough. Donnelly was taken into custody and transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda, where he refused to submit to a blood test. Donnelly has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on May 8.

Kenneth Duane Rider, 56, of Monroeton, has also been charged by state police with improperly parking his vehicle, and careless driving. Rider was charged following a traffic stop on March 21 on Hinman Street in Towanda. After being taken into custody, Rider was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda, where he refused to submit to a blood test. Rider is scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on May 8.

Gillett woman charged with retail theft

Krystal Lee Griffin, 34, of Gillett, was charged with retail theft by Athens Township Police after stealing from Walmart in Sayre, Athens police said.

Police were notified by Walmart's asset protection associate on Sept. 5 that Griffin was apprehended in the store, police said.

The associate said she witnessed Griffin place baby formula and bottles into her backpack and leave the store without paying for the items, police said.

Griffin told police she took the items, totalling $52.02, to give as a gift to a friend but later admitted they were for her toy baby doll, police said.

Griffin was arraigned March 31 and will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 7 for her preliminary hearing.

Theft from Walmart reported

April Lynn Duva, 32, of Towanda, was charged with retail theft by Athens Township Police on March 11 after taking $92.54 worth of merchandise from the Sayre Walmart, Athens police said.

Walmart's asset protection associate saw Duva take clothes from the clothing section to the pet department, where she placed the items in her purse, police said.

Duva went to the self checkout register where she put a clearance sticker on a pair of pants, which took the price down from $19.99 to $3.00, police said.

Duva did not scan eight other items before leaving the store, police said.

Duva has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 5 for her preliminary hearing.

Makeup, sock theft lead to charges

Margaret Mary Webster, 55, of Gillett, was charged with retail theft by Athens Township Police after being witnessed taking several items from the Sayre Walmart, Athens police said.

On March 26, Webster was seen by the asset protection associate putting several makeup items in her coat pocket and a pair of socks in her purse, police said.

She then left the store without paying for the items, police said.

Webster will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 5 for her preliminary hearing.

Three charged with drug violations

Sayre Borough Police charged three Valley residents with drug charges after witnessing the three at the Spring Street Dandy Mini Mart in Sayre, Sayre police said.

Ricky D. Peters, 31, of Sayre; Theresa D. Strope, 50, of Sayre; and Nicole A. Searles, 34, of Waverly were charged with bath salt-related charges including paraphernalia possession, according to police.

Peters was also charged with driving under the influence of bath salts and driving with a suspended license, police said.

All three were charged on April 1, police said.

Peters, Strope, and Searles will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 14 for their preliminary hearings.

Man pleads guilty

Cody Drew Wesneski, 23, of Canton, recently pleaded guilty and was fined $200 and costs for an incident that occurred March 10, 2014 in Canton in which he was charged with possession of a controlled substance and use of or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, according to the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

Man waives hearing

Conway James Garner, 30, of Williamsport, has waived his preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy to the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, according to Wilcox's office.

Court papers note that Garner was charged with "default in required appearance." He is accused of failing to report to the Bradford County Correctional Facility on Dec. 9 for a sentence of 30 days or pay $674.20, to which he did not, as ordered per court order by Bradford County Judge Maureen T. Bierne dated Aug. 21.

Truck into office

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police reported an unoccupied Dodge pickup truck drifted through the parking at Turkey Hill Minit Market and crashed into the front of Dr. Andrew Newton's office at 129 E. Fifth St. early Thursday.

No injuries were reported.

Police said Jared Sofranek, 28, of Mount Carmel, parked his truck in the lot with the engine running and emergency brake activated at about 1:30 a.m. and went into the store. Police said the brake apparently failed, causing the vehicle to travel north through the lot across the street, where it damaged a door and large front window at the doctor's office.

The damage to the office was repaired later in the day.

Police said the truck sustained minor damage.

DUI

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Justin M. Russell, 33, of 316 Trevorton Road, Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Stephen Spade with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under suspension and restrictions on alcoholic beverages relating to a Jan. 24 incident in the parking lot at Sheetz in Elysburg.

Police said Russell was found asleep in his vehicle with an open can of beer in the center console. Police reported Russell had a blood-alcohol content of .206 percent.

Kicks officer

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness were filed by Patrolman Kevin Katch against Danielle Marie Lawler, 22, of 125 Oak Lane, Shady Acres, in connection with a disturbance Saturday morning at Oak and Fourth streets.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Lawler, who was intoxicated, approached Katch at about 4:15 a.m. and was warned to go home, but continued talking with the officer before calling him an obscene name as she began to leave.

Upon being told by Katch that she was under arrest for public drunkenness, the defendant again used profanity toward the officer and continued to walk away from him. Lawler then resisted arrest and upon being escorted into the police station, she kicked Katch in the left leg, causing pain. Police said Lawler had to be taken to the ground for the safety of officers and herself.

Drug, PFA violation

RUSH TOWNSHIP - Trooper Daniel Wilk of state police at Stonington has charged Wallace E. Seltzer Jr., 30, of 106 Eyer Road, Danville, with possession of a small amount of Spice and violating a protection from abuse order relating to an incident at 11 a.m. Tuesday at 33 Hummer Road, Rush Township, where he was prohibited from being in accordance with a PFA order.

Seltzer was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and committed to prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Receiving stolen property

ELYSBURG - Emmanuel T. Temple, 18, of 45 S. Fifth St., Apt. 1, Shamokin, was charged by Ralpho Township Cpl. Bryon Chowka with receiving stolen property and unlawful sale or transfer of firearms.

Police reported Temple took possession of a stolen .357-caliber handgun and traded the gun in exchange for a tattoo for himself and one for a 17-year-old male.

Police said the offenses occurred between Nov. 28 and Nov. 30.

Police reported the handgun was stolen Nov. 28 from a residence on Clark Road and that Temple knew the gun was stolen.

Temple was arraigned Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and committed to jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Guilty plea

MOUNT CARMEL - Kyle J. Knopp, 22, of 342 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty Wednesday to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for six months.

An additional charge of possession of Spice was withdrawn.

Knopp was charged Mount Carmel Patrolman Matthew Dillman in connection with a July 24 incident at his residence.

Flight to avoid apprehension

MOUNT CARMEL - Brandon T. Chapman, 20, of 119 S. Walnut St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Cpl. David Donkochik with flight to avoid apprehension and resisting arrest involving a March 4 incident at Second and Oak streets.

Police said Chapman, who was wanted by adult probation officers and Constable Larry Rompallo, fled from authorities before being taken into custody after being found hiding in a hole at the rear of 40 N. Oak St.

Chapman was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and committed to prison in lieu of $15,000 bail.

DUI

ELYSBURG - Patrolman Christopher Grow has charged Donald R. Diotte, 39, of 539 W. Third St., Mount Carmel, with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without lights to avoid police, driving at an unsafe speed and restrictions on alcoholic beverages.

Police said Diotte, who had an open container of beer in his vehicle, led police on a five-mile chase on Route 54 from Catman Hollow Road to the Natalie area Jan. 18.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - William P. Reid, 53, of 19 Hillcrest Drive, Apt. B, Elysburg, was charged by Patrolman Daniel Politza with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, careless driving and following a vehicle too closely involving a Feb. 23 two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Routes 54 and 2028 near Marion Heights.

Police said Reid had a blood-alcohol content of .116 percent and also had marijuana, Venlafaxine, O-Desmethylvenfaxine, Trazodone and Hydroxyzine in his blood system.

Jewelry stolen

COOPER TOWNSHIP - Lari Ann Friedenberg, 45, of Danville, reported to state police at Milton that sometime between 3 p.m. March 6 and 9:30 a.m. March 22, a diamond engagement ring, an amethyst ring and a gold cross were removed from her residence on Heather Hills Drive, Cooper Township.

Drug paraphernalia

SHAMOKIN - Austine Elizabeth Fidler, 26, of 136 Windom Lane, Paxinos, is charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with possession of drug paraphernalia. Fidler is accused of possessing 82 empty wax baggies commonly used for packing heroin, a syringe and a metal spoon, and three plastic straws Jan. 14 at 204 S. Pearl St.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Troy Tafner, 19, of 104 N. Second St., Mount Carmel, is charged by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes with two counts of driving under the influence and one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving and careless driving.

Tafner crashed a Jeep Cherokee into a utility pole at Sunbury and Ninth streets about 3:30 a.m. Dec. 10, and was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana and a smoking pipe, according to a criminal complaint. Blood testing found his alcohol content to be 0.092 percent. He waived the charges to Northumberland County Court.

It was announced Thursday that Tafner is accused by the district attorney of smuggling tobacco into the county prison where he formerly worked as a corrections officer. He faces one misdemeanor count of obstruction.

Retail theft

SELINSGROVE - Justin Paskovich, 26, of Winfield, was charged by state police at Selinsgrove with retail theft.

Paskovich is accused of stealing 28 video games from FYE between March 8 and March 31.

Aggravated assault

SHAMOKIN - Jason P. Carl, 39, of 46 W. Adams St., is charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with aggravated assault, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple assault and resisting arrest. Police said he punched a probation officer in the face causing injury and continued to resist while being taken into custody during an incident Jan. 28 at 44 W. Adams St. Carl is accused of possessing six oxycodone tablets in a white container and a straw coated with white residue. The charges were waived to Northumberland County Court, and Carl remains jailed at State Correctional Institution-Coal Township on $100,000 bail.

Drug charges

SHAMOKIN - Joshua Knapick, 22, of 1109 W. Independence St., Coal Township, is charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with felony counts of delivery of oxycodone, possession with intent to deliver oxycodone and criminal use of a communication facility. Police said he sold three oxycodone tablets for $75 to a confidential informant on Sept. 8. He's free on $10,000 unsecured bail, and waived charged to Northumberland County Court.

Drug paraphernalia

SHAMOKIN - William Joseph Dales, 39, of 27 S. Franklin St., is charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said he possessed a smoking pipe at his home Jan. 4. He waived the charge to Northumberland County Court.

Tractor-trailer driver injured

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - Brian L. Goss, 51, of Yeagertown, was seriously injured Tuesday night when a 2003 Freightliner he was operating west on Route 35 exited the north side of the road for an unknown reason, crashed through guardrail, descended an embankment and struck a ditch and several trees in this Snyder County township.

State police at Selinsgrove reported Goss was transported by DH&L Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

The tractor-trailer was towed from the scene by Sunbury Motors following the 6:15 p.m. crash.

Goss, who was cited for careless driving, was discharged from Geisinger Thursday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Driver cited

JACKSON TOWNSHIP - Diane E. Kahler, 66, of Shamokin, who escaped injury Tuesday afternoon in a one-car accident at the intersection of Routes 225 and 3010 in this Northumberland County township, was cited by state police at Stonington for driving at an unsafe speed.

Police reported Kahler was driving a 2004 Pontiac Vibe north on Route 225 at about 3 p.m. when she lost control of the car on a left curve, causing it to spin, exit the east side of the road and roll onto its roof.

Police said Kahler was wearing a seat belt.

Wheels stolen

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are investigating the theft of several Alcoa aluminum 24.5-inch truck wheels from Indian Hills Trucking, 1391 Old Reading Road, Paxinos.

Police said the theft occurred between March 13 and March 22.

Field damage

JACKSON TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are searching for the person responsible for causing damage to a field owned by Wolfe Farms, 346 Stark Road, Herndon.

Police said someone used a UTV to "turf" the field between 7:30 p.m. March 27 and 8 a.m. March 28.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call state police at 570-286-5601.

Minor injury

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Peter J. Gordon, 39, of Sunbury, suffered a minor injury March 28 in a truck accident on Route 61 west of South Front Street.

State police at Stonington reported Gordon was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 north at 5:52 a.m. when due to icy road conditions he lost control of his truck, which struck a concrete barrier in the opposite lane of travel.

The truck sustained disabling front-end damage and was towed by Paul's Auto Body.

Police said Gordon was wearing a seat belt.

Motorist cited

EAST CAMERON TOWNSHIP - Patrick D. Murphy Jr., 24, of Shenandoah, was cited for failure to drive in a single lane in connection with a March 20 accident on Upper Road.

According to state police at Stonington, Murphy was driving a 2008 Subaru Impreza east at noon during a snow storm when for unknown reasons he lost control of his vehicle, which slid off the north berm and hit an embankment.

The vehicle then ascended an embankment and rolled back down onto the road before coming to rest on its side.

Murphy escaped injury.

Aggravated assault

ASHLAND - Jason Oshman, 27, of 7 N. 10th St., Mahanoy City, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats, recklessly endangerment and harassment by Ashland police for a 11:40 p.m. March 7 incident.

Police said when a Girardville man was leaving a party at 119 Walnut St., Ashland, Oshman approached him and started an altercation. Oshman punched the victim, knocked him on the ground and kicked him, police said.

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale Thursday and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.

Theft from vehicle in Ridgebury

Towanda state police said a Gillett man's Dodge Ram had paperwork on the seats and two documents were found to be missing.

Police said the incident occurred between March 22 and March 29 on Centerville Road in Ridgebury.

Diapers stolen from Ulster home

Towanda state police said between March 25 and March 26, about 900 Pampers were stolen from a home in Ulster on Milan Road.

Police are investigating the incident.

Juvenile charged with marijuana possession

A 17-year-old was charged with marijuana possession according to Towanda state police.

On March 25 at Northeast Bradford High School, police found the person to be in possession of marijuana, police said.

The person was charged through Bradford County Juvenile Court, police said.

Driver uninjured in New Albany crash

Roy L. Sappington Jr., 25, of Williamsport, was uninjured after crashing the 2012 Dodge Avenger he was driving on Front Street in New Albany on March 28, police said.

According to police, Sappington reached for a cup of coffee when he struck a utility pole head on after leaving the roadway.

Police said Williams Towing towed the vehicle from the scene.

Sappington was cited for failure to obey traffic lanes.

Trooper Joseph Bufalino of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Lafferty for the offense on Feb. 12, 2015, following investigation of a Harassment that occurred in South Creek Township.

Keith Fitzwater, 44, Canton, Pa., entered a plea of guilty before District Magisterial Judge Jonathan Wilcox, to the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, and was sentenced to a fine of $250 and court costs. William Colbath, 49, Troy, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 43 days (Flat), County Intermediate Punishment for 24 months. County Intermediate Punishment involves a combination of restrictions and supervision. It may include home confinement, electronic monitor, and substance abuse treatment. Violations can result in incarceration, fines of $500, plus court costs, for the offense of Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer, a felony of the third degree, Resisting arrest, a misdemeanor of the second degree, and summaries. Hicks was resentenced from a sentence of Probation, for the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor. Agents of the Pennsylvania State Police Vice and Narcotics Unit arrested Hicks following investigation of an incident that occurred in Towanda Borough.

Howard Walter Jr., 45, Montrose, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for five months to 23 months, 29 days, and a fine of $500, plus court costs, for the offense of Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Trooper William McDermott of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Walter following investigation of an incident that occurred in Tuscarora Township on June 16, 2014.

Emily E. Kinsella, 23, Unadilla, N.Y., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for three days to six months, fines of $1,000, plus court costs, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol. Trooper Keith Roman of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Kinsella following investigation of an incident that occurred in Monroe Township.

Brandon Eschenburg, 26, Athens, Pa., was sentenced to Probation supervision for a term of 30 months and fines, for the offense of Endangering Welfare of Children, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unsworn Falsification to Authorities. Officer Derek Dekar of the Athens Borough Police arrested Eschenburg for the offenses in November. Eschenburg had been incarcerated for seven days on the charges.

Seth Shaughessy, 20, Athens, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in Bradford County Correctional Facility for 15 days to 12 months, fines of $250 plus court costs, for the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Shaughessy had been sentenced to probation at an earlier date but failed to comply with probation and was resentenced. Officer Richard Horton of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Shaughessy for the offense.

Christopher Sellers, 52, of Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 184 days to 18 months, fines of $250 and court costs, for the offense of Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Sellers served 184 days in the Bradford County Correctional Facility before he was sentenced. Sergeant Steven Burlingame of the Sayre Police Department arrested Sellers for the offense in July 2014.

Joseph P. Leighton, 29, Wysox, Pa., was sentenced to Probation supervision for a term of 12 months, fines of $150, for the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Trooper Michael Tribendis of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Leighton following investigation of an incident that occurred in Wysox Township.

Francis Northrup, 58, of Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in Bradford County Correctional Facility for 90 days on Driving under Suspension, State Intermediate Punishment for 24 months. State Intermediate Punishment is a two year program. It begins with at least seven months of regular state prison, followed by restricted living in a residential program. The prison administration must be satisfied that the prisoner has made progress in rehabilitation from substance abuse. If not, the prisoner will be dismissed from S.I.P. and resentenced. If the S.I.P. program is completed, the prisoner will be under probation supervision for two additional years and checked regularly for drug or alcohol use. If he/she violated during those two years, probation will be revoked and if there is a violation more incarceration will be imposed. Northrup will be charged with fines of $5,000 and court costs, he will also lose his driver's license for 54 months, for the offenses of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree, and Driving under Suspension, DUI related, a summary offense. Trooper Joshua Fisher of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Northrup following investigation of an incident.

Marcus Shanks, 37, North Carolina, entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Shanks will be sentenced on May 7, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Gabrielle Paduck of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Shanks following investigation of an incident that occurred in Wyalusing Borough.

Michael Randall, 51, E. McKeesport, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Payne will be sentenced on May 7, 2015, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Gabriel Paduck of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Payne following investigation of an incident that occurred in Wyalusing Township.

Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett reported that the following persons recently were placed on the ARD program in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:

Jennifer Johnson, 40, Monroeton, Pa., charged with the offense of Retail Theft, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of six months. While on Probation, Johnson, will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Johnson must perform 40 hours of community service. Trooper Peter Smith of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Johnson for the offense.

Derrick Babcock, 30, Ulster, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation, Babcock will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Babcock must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Trooper Joshua Fisher of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Babcock for the offense.

Timothy Stanley, 24, Binghamton, N.Y., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation, Stanley will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Stanley must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days. Officer Jeremy Horton of the Sayre Borough Police filed the charges on Aug. 10, 2014 for the offense in Sayre Borough.

Sayre woman charged with endangering welfare of children, corruption of minors

Heather L. Morse, 32, of Sayre was charged with several charges by Sayre Borough Police on April 2, police said.

According to police, Morse gave her child Clonidine, a sleeping drug, to get her to fall asleep because Morse told police her child was being obnoxious late at night.

Morse initially told police she did not give her child the drug, but after Children and Youth Services completed blood work, which showed the drug in the child's blood, Morse admitted to giving the drug to her child, police said.

Morse was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, recklessly endangering another person, and corruption of minors, police said.

Morse was remanded to Bradford County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Morse will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 7 for her preliminary hearing.

Teen accused of punching student at Wyalusing school

Michael Joseph Fassett, 18, of New Albany is accused of punching a 13-year-old individual in the back of the head at Wyalusing Valley Junior/Senior High School, police said.

The incident occurred at 8 a.m. Wednesday, state police at Towanda said.

As a result of this incident, Fassett has been cited for harassment, police said.

Vandalism occurs in Sheshequin Twp.

Wade Lawrence Sparbanie, 48, of Sheshequin Township reported Friday that someone caused a hole in the lining of his pool, police said.

The incident occurred on Beacon Light Road, police said.

Sparbanie reported the incident Friday morning, state police at Towanda said.

Teen cited for harassment at Wyalusing school

A 15-year-old girl was cited for harassment after she punched another 15-year-old girl in the face at Wyalusing Valley Junior/Senior High School, police said.

The incident occurred during school hours on Thursday, state police at Towanda said.
