Criminal mischief

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police continue to investigate a set of incidents involving vehicles being tagged with graffiti in the areas of Chemung and Chestnut streets Thursday.

Patrolman Chad Yoder said a lewd name was painted with white spray paint onto three vehicles - a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier owned by Thomas Thew, 49, of 1022 E. Chestnut St.; a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker owned by Richard Kerstetter, 57, of 1010 Chestnut St., and a 2009 Subaru Legacy, owned by Christian Heiser, 27, of 1100 Chemung St. - between 8 and 8:33 p.m. Thursday. Landlord cited

COAL TOWNSHIP - Code officer Chris Petrovich cited Fredie Hummel, of Elysburg, twice on March 31 for two violations of the township's occupancy ordinances concerning his property at 35 S. Poplar St., Coal Township.

Petrovich reported Hummel failed to notify the township tax collector of any change of status of occupancy within 10 days and rented out a residence without an occupancy permit.

Sayre woman charged in April 1 drug arrest

Stormie R. Coyne, 37, of Sayre was charged in connection with a series of arrests on April 1 at the Spring Street Dandy Mini Mart in Sayre, Sayre police said.

Coyne was charged with possession of bath salts and paraphernalia after attempting to discard the items in the store's restroom, police said.

Police said one of the women charged handed the items to Coyne for her to get rid of them.

Police subsequently could not locate Coyne when dealing with the others involved in the situation.

Coyne was remanded to Bradford County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

She will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 14 for her preliminary hearing.

Assault, harassment charges for Sayre man

Charles G. Wolcott, 35, of Sayre, was charged with simple assault and harassment by Athens Township Police on April 4, Athens police said.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance call on Wilawana Road in Athens where they found Wolcott and Joan Abbey.

Abbey told police that Wolcott hit her in the mouth and she hit Wolcott in the head in retaliation, police said.

Police said Abbey had swelling, bruising, and a cut as a result of the physical altercation.

Wolcott was remanded to Bradford County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bail.

Wolcott will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 14 for his preliminary hearing.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Coal Township Patrolman Matthew Hashuga has cited Karina Ramirez, 24, of Mount Carmel, for retail theft incidents that occurred at the Coal Township Walmart.

Ramirez is accused of stealing $32.64 worth of merchandise Feb. 21 and $119.95 worth of merchandise March 9.

Simple assault, harassment

SHAMOKIN - Dane Earl Albertson, 28, of 3 Albertson Road, Orangeville, was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Chad Yoder with one count of misdemeanor simple assault and a summary offense of harassment.

Yoder said Albertson became agitated when he was unable to locate Spice while at 217 Third St., Ranshaw, at around 4:45 p.m. Thursday. His girlfriend began play fighting with him and Albertson became upset and struck her in the mouth, causing her lip to swell and bleed.

Albertson also smashed the phone of another woman at the scene to prevent her from calling the police, then left the residence before officers arrived, Yoder said.

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones at 7:48 p.m. Friday and released on $5,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III.

Drugs

SHAMOKIN - Mark David Melnick, 27, and Ian Michael Hancock, 19, both of 218 W. Independence St., Shamokin, were charged by Coal Township Patrolman Jeffrey Brennan with one misdemeanor charge each of possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia after they was found to have Spice and a glass pipe at 1047 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, at around 4:30 p.m. Sept. 29.

Retail theft

LEWISBURG - Rodger Facer Jr., 27, of Shamokin, has been charged by state police at Milton with retail theft for allegedly taking approximately $150 worth of merchandise from the Walmart in Kelly Township, Union County.

According to a press release, the incident occurred April 22, 2014.

Conspiracy, retail theft

SHAMOKIN - Bradley Eugene Keister, 39, of 239 W. Pine St., Shamokin, and Megan L. Katalinas, 30, 913 E. Chestnut St., Shamokin, were charged by Coal Township Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. with one misdemeanor charge each of criminal conspiracy and retail theft for an incident that occurred Dec. 16 at Walmart Supercenter, Coal Township.

Purcell said Keister and Katalinas placed $219.42 worth of merchandise in a shopping cart and attempted to leave the store without paying.

Woman charged after promising sex for pay

Desprea Ann Grover, 18, of Sayre, was charged with receiving stolen property and theft by deception by Athens Township Police after telling a man she would have sex with him for money, Athens police said.

Grover allegedly approached a home in Athens Township and asked to use the phone, police said.

When talking with the male inside, Grover asked him if he needed "company," police said.

Police said the male was a truck driver and was familiar with "truck stop terminology."

The male agreed to pay Grover $50 for sex and the two took a cab to the Elmira Street Dandy Mini Mart where the male brought Grover cigarettes and took $50 from the ATM, police said.

According to police, the pair returned to the male's home and Grover left with the $50 without engaging in sex.

Grover was remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Grover will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 21 for her preliminary hearing.

Vehicle strikes tree in Monroe Twp.

Dylan J. Maynard, 22, of New Albany was uninjured when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident at 4 a.m. Sunday in Monroe Township, police said.

Maynard was traveling east on Brocktown Road at an unsafe speed and failed to negotiate a right curve in the roadway, police said.

Maynard's 2013 Ford F150 left the north side of the roadway and struck a tree, state police at Towanda said.

Vehicle strikes utility pole in Wysox Twp.

Brooke N. Younger, 20, of Bridgeport, Texas was uninjured when she was involved in a recent motor vehicle accident in Wysox Township, police said.

Younger was traveling north on Rome Road at 11:50 p.m. on April 1 when, for an unknown reason, she lost control of her vehicle, police said. Younger's 2012 Ford F250 went off the east side of the roadway and struck a utility pole, state police at Towanda said.

The accident occurred 869 feet north of Dry Run Road.

Ulster man faces hearing

Daniel Gerard Grubb, 32, of Ulster, faces a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. April 22 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on drug-related charges that were filed following a domestic dispute that took place at his residence April 4, 2014 in Smithfield Township, according to court papers.

The papers note that Grubb is accused of possessing 10.88 grams of marijuana for personal use; using, or possessing with the intent to use, drug paraphernalia, namely a blue and silver metal smoking pipe containing marijuana residue; and harassment.

According to the papers, Grubb pushed a woman to the floor, struck her head on the floor three times and choked her by the neck.

Wilcox said Grubb was sent a summons by certified mail.

Man pleads guilty

Michael Kevin Deininger, 42, of Philadelphia, recently pleaded guilty to summary harassment for an incident that took place at approximately 9:25 p.m. Feb. 13 on Water Street in Canton Township, according to the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

The incident was described as a domestic assault in an affidavit filed by Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Keith Roman.

Deininger's fines and costs were waived for time served, according to Wilcox's office.

Woman charged with resisting arrest

A Towanda woman was taken into custody by local police recently on a charge of resisting arrest.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Kathy A. Secules, 48, has also been charged with disorderly conduct (obscene language), and public drunkenness.

Patrolman Josh Lake reported responding to Secules' residence on April 5, after county dispatch informed him that a caller had advised them of being chased by a neighbor's dog and being called names by the neighbor. When he arrived at the address, Lake reported, he spoke with Secules, who appeared to be in an aggravated state. Secules explained what had happened, saying her neighbors' dog had attacked her, and that one of her neighbors had called her an obscene name.

During the conversation, according to the report, Secules became more agitated and started to yell loud vulgar comments, despite instructions from Lake to calm down. Finally after several repeated warnings from Lake which Secules ignored, the officer informed her that she was being placed under arrest, the report said.

Secules then ran into her house and attempted to shut the door. Lake was able to follow her and told her several times to calm down, but she continued to resist, requiring the assistance of another officer to take her into custody. Secules was eventually arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $7,500 bail. Secules' preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 15.

Woman charged with simple assault

A Towanda woman was arrested by state police recently on a charge of simple assault.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Bobbi Jo Thornton, 34, has also been charged with recklessly endangering another person, and harassment.

State police reported investigating a domestic disturbance on April 3 at a private residence in North Towanda Township. Police reported speaking with a man who explained that Thornton is his former girlfriend, who had earlier struck and injured him with a vehicle during an argument. Police noted that the man had fresh abrasions on his right hand, right elbow, left hand, and the top of his forehead.

Thornton was arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered the defendant released on non-monetary bail.

Criminal trespass investigated

State police are investigating an incident of criminal trespass that occurred recently in Wyalusing Township.

According to police, the incident occurred either March 29 or March 30 on property owned by Richard Bennett of Sugar Run. Police say the perpetrators gained access to the property on Canyon Road in Wyalusing Township by pulling down a wire that marked the entrance to the property.

Mini bike stolen

State police are investigating a theft that occurred recently in Windham Township.

According to police, perpetrators stole at 2014 Coleman CT200U mini bike as it was parked outside the residence of owner Jeannine Kithcart, 65, of Athens. Police said the thieves fled the scene in an unknown direction, and the vehicle was recovered about five miles from where it was stolen. The incident occurred between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on March 31. Fight charges

SHAMOKIN - Alicia Lahr, 20, of 142 W. Saylor St., Atlas, and Belinda Smith, 22, of 403 S. Fifth St., Shamokin, were cited by Police Chief Darwin Tobias III for disorderly conduct and harassment relating to a fight at 1:27 p.m. April 2 at Market and Water streets.

Both women suffered minor injuries, police said.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Gary Gonzalez, 52, of 514 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman William Zalinski for harassment involving a Feb. 21 incident at his residence.

Police said Gonzalez harassed John Traas, 22, of the same address, at 10:50 p.m.

Steals street sign

SHAMOKIN - Matthew Paglione, 36, of Newark, Del., and Joseph A. Egleston, 22, of 46 N. Third St., Shamokin, were cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for criminal mischief and disorderly conduct for removing a street sign at Arch and Carbon streets at 1:51 a.m. April 3.

Police said both men were caught stealing the sign and attempting to flee.

Guilty pleas

SHAMOKIN - Randy B. Elliot II, 25, of 1240 Poplar St., Kulpmont, and Zolange Otero, 30, of 231 W. Willow St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of drug paraphernalia and were each ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $200 fine plus costs and placed on probation for nine months.

Elliot was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II in connection with a Feb. 9 incident in the 900 block of North Shamokin Street.

Otero was charged by Patrolman Scott Weaver in connection with a March 11 incident at her home. An additional charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was withdrawn.

Drug possession

COAL TOWNSHIP - Courtney Marie Tongel, 20, of 772 S. 19th St., Newark, N.J., was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia by Coal Township Police after she was found with an illegal substance and paraphernalia while staying at a Lynn Street residence on April 21, 2014.

Items stolen from campground

WEST CAMERON TOWNSHIP - Scott M. Church, 55, of Edgewater, Md., reported to state police at Stonington someone stole several items from his lot at the Earth Day Campground sometime between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. Sunday.

Items taken include Vizio flat panel TVs, a chain saw, patio furniture, tool boxes, tools, propane tanks, a DVD player and movies and a lawn mower. The robber is believed to be a Maryland resident. The investigation is ongoing.

Resisting arrest

ATLAS - Thomas F. Kruskie, 53, of 126 E. Columbia Ave., was charged with misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, and cited for harassment following a domestic incident at his residence at 9:37 p.m. April 1.

According to court documents filed by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Matthew Filarski, officers were called to Kruskie's residence after an argument with his son, Tyler, outside the residence. The son told police Kruskie had been drinking all day and badgering him. The son said his father pushed him onto a piece of furniture and struck him with an open hand on the left side of the head.

When police advised Kruskie to leave the residence for the night, the man became aggressive and said he wasn't leaving. He allegedly told Filarski to take off his badge to "see what happens." Kruskie was taken into custody and transported to the township's police station for a citation.

At the station, Kruskie continue to argue with Filarski, charging at him twice and then grabbing the officer by the legs, attempting to tackle him. Police used substantial force and Kruskie was later released into the custody of another individual.

A preliminary hearing will be held before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, May 6.

Dirt bike stolen

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington continue to investigate the theft of a dirt bike from a Plum Creek Road residence between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the bike, owned by George A. Baker, 59, of Montandon, was sitting in a front yard at 1112 Plum Creek Road and advertised for sale. Someone picked up the bike and removed it from the area.

The bike is a 2008 Hisun 200GY black and white dirt bike and is missing its front fender, head light bessel and plastic gas tank. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 570-286-5601.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - The investigation continues into an assault at a home on Irish Valley Road between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. Sunday.

State police at Stonington report the victim, Joseph Broden, 25, of Atlas, was involved in a physical altercation with two suspects, a known 26-year-old male from Kulpmont and a known 30-year-old male from Paxinos. Police said Broden was struck in the face and head during the fracas.

Bag theft

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Yuliya A. Maskimova, 25, of 2379 Mile Hill Road, Sunbury, reported to state police at Stonington two bags she owns, a red-and-black plaid back pack, and a blue duffle bag, were taken between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. April 3. The bags were left under at tree at 2299 Mile Hill Road and contained personal belongings. An investigation continues.

Two dirt bikes stolen

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Jeffry Martz, 57, of Sunbury, reported to state police at Stonington someone entered an unlocked garage and removed two dirt bikes between 9 a.m. Monday and 3 p.m. Wednesday. The bikes are a black and green 2009 Kawasaki KX 450F and a black Pitster Pro 125cc bike.

Cell phone theft in Ulster

State police in Towanda are investigating a theft in Ulster, police said.

According to police, on March 31 at about 6 p.m., a cell phone was stolen from a 23-year-old victim on U.S. Route 220 in Ulster.

One injured in Ridgebury crash

Towanda state police said an Elmira man was injured after the 2008 Jeep Wrangler he was driving veered off the road.

According to police, Eric Singerhoff, 21, of Elmira, was traveling north on state Route 4013 in Ridgebury when he lost control of the vehicle.

The Jeep left the road where it hit several trees and a ditch, which caused it to roll onto its roof, police said.

Singerhoff was wearing a seatbelt during the crash, police said.

Singerhoff was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.

Trash dumped on roadside

Two bags of household garbage were dumped on the side of Green Mountain Road in Ridgebury according to state police in Towanda.

Police said on April 3, an unknown actor or actors illegally dumped the trash on the road.

Criminal mischief in Ridgebury

A door window was cracked by unknown means on April 6 between 3 p.m. and 3:45 p.m., according to Towanda state police.

Police said the incident occurred on the Berwick Turnpike in Ridgebury.

Elmira woman charged in November drug bust

According to Sayre Borough Police, Harley Alice Platt, 19, of Elmira, was charged with marijuana and bath salt possession as well as paraphernalia possession.

On Nov. 30, Sayre police enacted a search warrant on a North Elmer Avenue house in Sayre, police said.

When searching the home, police found Platt and two other individuals attempting to exit the house through a window, police said.

Police said Platt had several paraphernalia pieces with burnt residue on them, as well as white powder.

Police also found a small bag containing a green leafy substance, which later field tested positive for marijuana, in Platt's purse.

Platt was remanded to Bradford County Jail in lieu of $45,000 bail.

Platt will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 21 for her preliminary hearing.

Hit and run crash

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Authorities are looking for the driver who damaged a fence on Trout Pond Road April 4.

State police at Stonington reported a driver traveling south lost control of the vehicle, struck a fence and left the scene.

Drug paraphernalia

SHAMOKIN - Robert Felix, 41, of 1027 W. Chestnut St., Coal Township, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and careless driving following a traffic stop on East Independence Street at 11:52 p.m. April 3.

According to court documents filed by Shamokin City Police Patrolman Nathan Rhodes, Felix was seen pulling out of a parking stall at a high rate of speed, squealing his tires. When Felix was talking to the officer, he stated he did not have a driver's license and Cpl. Bryan Primerano, assisting Rhodes, observed a smoking pipe on the floor of the vehicle. Felix said the pipe was used for smoking marijuana.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Disorderly conduct

KULPMONT - Denise L. Kelley, of North 10th Street, reported to state police at Stonington her neighbor was being loud and burning some material at 11:45 p.m. Monday.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington charged Ryan C. Wendell, 23, of 250 Church St., Millersburg, with driving under the influence, driving without registration, driving without a license, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked and careless driving after a traffic stop in the area of Route 61 and 225 in Coal Township at 12:54 a.m. March 26.

Trooper David Boucher of the Stonington barracks reported in court documents that he and another officer observed Wendell's vehicle, a 2003 Jaguar, traveling with its four-way flashers on before pulling to the side of the road. The officers stopped to see if the driver needed assistance and smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage in the car. Police administered a breath test and field sobriety tests, which the driver failed.

Boucher observed that all four tires were flat, and Wendell said he ran over some railroad tracks in Shamokin which caused the flat tires. The officer noted Wendell's clothes were ripped and disheveled. He was taken into custody, but refused to submit to blood alcohol testing at a local hospital.

The charged were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic, of Shamokin.

Burglary

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police charged Hugo Concepcion-Arroyo, 37, of Sunbury, with burglary, criminal trespass, terroristic threats, criminal conspiracy and driving without a license following a break-in at a home along Route 147 in Upper Augusta Township at 10:30 a.m. April 4.

Police report the victim, Jeff Pontius, of Sunbury, came home to find Arroyo allegedly crawling through an unsecured window in the home and attempting to steal a purse.

Arroyo was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and placed in prison on $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, before Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum, of Sunbury.

Drug arrest

SHAMOKIN - Johnathon R. Grove, 26, with a last known address of 409 E. Packer St., Shamokin, was charged by Shamokin Police with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a stop on Independence Street by Northumberland County Probation officers at 6 p.m. March 9.

According to court documents filed by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle, Grove was found with a bag containing synthetic marijuana, a glass smoking pipe, a syringe, and a small orange pill used to treat patients who are opiate dependent.

Grove was placed in Snyder County Prison on a probation violation, while the drug charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic, of Shamokin.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Township Patrolman Joshua Wynn charged Caitlin Bitler, 25, and Rachel Graham, 32, both of 343 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, with retail theft and criminal conspiracy after the two allegedly engaged in shoplifting at Walmart Oct. 24.

According to Wynn, store security personnel observed the two placing items from housewares and the cosmetics department in their purses. Police said the two conspired to steal a total of $327.30 worth of items.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic, of Shamokin.

Identity theft

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - Amy and Jeffrey Zartman, of Dornsife, reported to state police at Stonington the couple received a call from their accountant at 4 p.m. Wednesday that their 2014 income tax return was denied because it was already being processed by an unknown person.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Driver charged

SNYDERTOWN - Tabitha J. McKown, 34, of 23 N. Grant St., Shamokin, was charged with driving under the influence, driving without registration and proof of insurance and several other traffic offense by state police at Stonington after a traffic stop near Mowery Street, Snydertown at 7:06 p.m. March 7.

Police reported in court documents Trooper Mark Adams observed the vehicle traveling all over the roadway. The vehicle then turned onto Mowery Street without using a signal. After failing field sobriety tests, McKown, the driver, was taken into custody for being suspected of driving under the influence.

A blood test drawn at Sunbury Community Hospital showed her blood alcohol level to be .155 percent. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic, of Shamokin.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - David M. Laude, 26, of 30 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, was charged by Coal Township Police Patrolman Matthew Hashuga with retail theft after allegedly attempting to steal $409.95 worth of merchandise from Walmart at 8:53 p.m. Oct. 19.

The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic, of Shamokin.

Disorderly conduct

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Michele Shipe, of Plum Creek Road, Rockefeller Township, reported to state police at Stonington a number of vehicles were in a field near her home and playing loud music at 10 p.m. Monday.

Athens woman charged with endangering child

Brittany Ann Amentler, 25, of Athens, was charged by Athens Borough Police for her involvement in the manufacturing and use of methamphetamine, Athens police said.

Police were alerted to the situation by Amentler's mother who was concerned about her grandchild's health and safety, police said.

Amentler told police and Child Youth Services that she was pregnant and with her boyfriend, Carl E. Johnston, 46, when he was making methamphetamine, police said.

Police said Amentler took a voluntary drug test for CYS that tested positive for methamphetamine and she told police that she breast fed her child while using drugs and was present during the manufacturing of methamphetamine between approximately Feb. 23 and March 23.

Amentler was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person.

Amentler has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 12 for her preliminary hearing.

Applebee's employee charged with assault, public intoxication

Craig Alan Fitzgerald, 34, of New Albany was charged with simple assault, public drunkenness, and disorderly conduct by Athens Township Police after becoming physically violent at the Elmira Street Applebee's in Sayre on April 8, Athens police said.

According to police, before the incident, Fitzgerald went to his car during his break and became violent shortly after returning to his dishwashing duties.

Police said Applebee's employees tried to restrain Fitzgerald which resulted in a manager being bitten and taken to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment.

Police said it took five officers to restrain Fitzgerald and said his intoxication resembled the effects of bath salts.

Police said a cursory view inside Fitzgerald's locked vehicle revealed a ceramic pipe and several packets labeled "Heavenly Aroma" which contained an unknown substance.

Fitzgerald has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 12 for his preliminary hearing.

Corning woman charged in Walmart theft

Sara Marie Sutton, 31, of Corning, was charged with retail theft by Athens Township Police after attempting to steal over $1,600 worth of merchandise from the Elmira Street Walmart in Sayre, Athens police said.

On April 9, Walmart's Asset Protection Associate saw Sutton's 12-year-old son pushing a cart alone in the store, police said.

The boy pushed the cart full of merchandise past the registers where he met Sutton and the pair left the store, police said.

When confronted by the Asset Protection Associate, Sutton and her son fled toward Applebee's, police said.

Sutton was remanded to Bradford County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bail.

She will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 14 for her preliminary hearing.

Adam Merkel, 38, Canton, Pa., was sentenced to $150 fines, plus court costs and restitution of $2,438.75, for the offense of Harassment, a summary offense. Officer Trey Kurtz of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Merkel for the offense in June 2013.

Paul Vanderpool, 26, Towanda, Pa., was re-sentenced to Probation Supervision for a term of 12 months, and fines, plus court costs and restitution of $32, for the offense of Theft by Unlawful Taking, a misdemeanor of the third degree. Trooper Michael Mislevy of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Vanderpool following investigation of an incident that occurred in Monroe Township.

Paul Vanderpool, 26, Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to Probation supervision for a term of 12 months, fines of $300.00 plus court costs, for the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Officer Nathan Ross of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Ciardi for the offense on Dec. 2, 2014.

Armella Jackson, 31, Canton, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 11 days to 12 months, restitution of $1,635.90 plus court costs, for the offense of Theft by Unlawful Taking, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Officer Trey Kurtz of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Jackson for the offense in February 2014.

David Conklin, 25, Ulster, Pa., was sentenced to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for four days to six months, fines of $1,000 plus court costs, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Sergeant James Shaw of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Conklin for the offense in November 2013.

Breanna Herman, 21, Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to Probation supervision for a term of 12 months, and fines of $250, plus court costs, for the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Raymond Richlin, 28, Tunkhannock, Pa., was resentenced following revocation of Probation, to imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility, and a fine of $250.00, plus court costs and restitution of $7,921.75, for the offense of Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Edward Howard, 48, Towanda, Pa., entered a guilty plea to the offense of Persons not to Possess a Firearm, a felony of the second degree. Rex Peters, 25, Wysox, Pa., was found guilty of the following offenses after a non-jury trial. The offenses include, Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor, Driving while Operating Privilege Suspended or Revoked, a misdemeanor of the first degree, and Driving Unregistered Vehicle, a summary offense. Rinebold will be sentenced after a pending a S.I.P. evaluation, and also, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer John Fedorchak and Jason Serfas of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Rinebold for the offenses on Oct. 8, 2014 and Sept. 20, 2014.

Joshua Rundell, 35, Rome, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Harassment, a summary offense. Jason Bergquist, 30, Sayre, Pa., charged with the offense of Simple Assault, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation, Bergquist will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department, which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Bergquist must perform 40 hours community service. Officer Travis Snyder of the Sayre Borough Police Department filed the charges on Dec. 16, 2014, for the offense in Sayre Borough.

Crash victims ID'd

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington have released the identities of two people involved in an accident Friday afternoon on Jasmine Road near Route 61.

Police said Steven B. Willard, 56, of Lewisburg, was driving a 1997 Buick LeSabre north on Route 61 at 1 p.m. in the left lane and attempted to merge, but was unable to do so and sped up to pass the other motorist. He was able to make the pass, but then attempted to turn onto Jasmine Road, a slight right off of Route 61. His car ascended a slight dirt incline, causing him to lose control, and the vehicle went another approximately 100 feet before striking an embankment with its driver's side front fender. The car rolled onto its driver's side and slid approximately 15 feet before coming to rest on its roof.

Willard escaped injury, but a passenger, Brian P. Long, 40, of Northumberland, was transported by Elysburg Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. He was listed Saturday in serious condition, according to a nursing supervisor. Both men were wearing seat belts, police said.

The car was towed from the scene by W&L Subaru.

Willard was cited by Trooper James Yankovich for failing to drive in a single lane.

Also assisting at the accident were Trooper Todd Leiby, AREA Ambulance and Stonington Fire Company.

Liquor law violation

SHAMOKIN - The Pastime Club, 17-19 N. Market St., was cited Thursday by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for allegedly failing to maintain complete and truthful records covering its operation for a period of two years preceding March 16, concerning the Small Games of Chance Act.

The charge will be brought before an administrative law judge, who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge and can mandate training for the licensee.

Handgun incident reported in Sunbury

SUNBURY - Police here are investigating a disturbance involving a handgun early Sunday in a parking lot in the 100 block of South Third Street.

At 3:34 a.m., police were informed that an unidentified African American male and a Hispanic male were involved in an altercation during which the African American male went to his dark sedan and retrieved a handgun. When the male brandished the handgun, a bystander left the area and requested police be called.

Upon checking the area, Sunbury police were informed both males had fled.

WILLIAMSPORT - Sgt. Jeffrey L. McGinness, district office commander for the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement in Williamsport, reported 79 complaints were received by his office in March.

Six licensed establishments were checked for age compliance and one establishment was cited for selling alcohol to an underage buyer last month. Nine violation letters and 28 warning letters were issued for violations of liquor laws. One establishment was cited for furnishing or sales without a license and/or seizures.

Theft at Lowe's

MONROE TOWNSHIP - State police at Selinsgrove reported an unidentified male removed a trash can, Bosch jigsaw and Dewalt impact wrench from Lowe's along Routes 11-15 between 6:48 and 6:55 p.m. April 1.

Theft of leased property

COAL TOWNSHIP - Dawn Smith, 38, of 150 N. Locust St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Chad Yoder with theft of leased property after she failed to make pre-arranged payments to Rent-A-Center in Coal Township or return Apple smartphones she was leasing from them.

The value of the phones is $1,632.46, police said.

Police said Smith entered into the lease agreement Dec. 23.

Property owner cited

COAL TOWNSHIP - Geraldine Conni, of 16 Deerfield Drive, Elysburg, was cited Wednesday by Coal Township Code Enforcement Officer Chris Petrovich for allowing garbage and rubbish to accumulate in the rear of a property she owns at 234 Main St., Ranshaw.

City crash

SHAMOKIN - Eddie Martin, 58, of 315 Luke Fidler Road, Coal Township, was cited for a stop sign violation relating to a two-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Liberty and Water streets.

Patrolman Scott Weaver reported Martin was driving a 2002 Ford west on Water Street at 12:15 p.m. when he failed to stop for a stop sign, causing his car to collide with a 1998 Ford driven south on Liberty Street by Nicholas Witkowski, 19, of 251 S. Diamond St., Shamokin. Witkowski's auto struck a utility pole.

Police said Witkowski suffered injuries and was taken by a private vehicle to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital. His passenger, Kelsey Deitz, 19, of 212 W. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, also was injured and transported by AREA Services to the same hospital. Both victims underwent emergency room treatment before being released.

Martin escaped injury.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Patrolman Raymond Siko II assisted at the scene.

Overdose charges

COAL TOWNSHIP - Courtney Marie Tongel, 20, of Newark, N.J., and a former resident at the Pregnancy Care Center, 1605 W. Lynn St., has been charged by Patrolman Christopher Lapotsky with possession of Spice and possession of drug paraphernalia involving a drug overdose at the center April 21, 2014.

Police reported Tongel was smoking Spice when she overdosed and fell down the steps before being transported to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

In addition to Spice, police said two lighters, a cigarette rolling device, plastic baggies and a piece of burned tin foil were found in Tongel's dresser drawer at the center.

Tongel has been prohibited from the returning to the center since the incident, police said.

Road rage

LEWISBURG - Peter Benjamin Almond, 41, and Jack Lyn Robbins Jr., 21, both of Sunbury, were cited by state police at Milton for harassment and disorderly conduct following a disturbance at 2:15 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot at Evangelical Community Hospital.

Police said after being involved in a road rage incident while traveling north on Route 15 that started in Snyder County, Almond and Robbins pulled into the hospital parking lot and chased each other in their vehicles before exiting their vehicles and engaging in verbal and physical altercations.

Police reported both men used obscene language and caused a public nuisance in the presence of hospital staff and visitors.

False firearm application

State police at Towanda said on Nov. 11 that at about 6:45 p.m., a person tried to purchase a firearm while prohibited by the Uniform Firearms Act, state police said.

Police said the attempted transaction took place at a gun store in Albany Township.

The person falsified an application for the firearm purchase, stating the person was not prohibited from making the purchase, police said.

Dirtbike stolen in Ridgebury

A 2007 Baja Heat dirtbike was stolen on either April 7 or April 8 from a Ridgebury residence, Towanda state police said.

Police said the actor or actors stole the bike and fled the Bucks Creek Road residence in an unknown direction.

Police said the bike's vehicle identification numbers is LUAHYD1037100 and is black and red in color.

Sayre man charged with resisting arrest, public intoxication

Brandon Kristopher Lane, 28, of Sayre, was charged after an incident at the Sayre Police Department, according to authorities.

On April 10, police responded to a disorderly conduct complaint from Robert Packer Hospital where Lane was a possible suspect, police said.

Police arrived at 123 North Higgins St. in Sayre to speak with Lane, who refused to cooperate with officers, according to the report.

About 20 minutes later, police heard banging on the door of the police department with Lane being the actor, the report continued.

Lane was observed throwing an object at the front door and also noticed the handle of the front door lying on the ground, police said.

Lane refused to listen and comply when told he was under arrest and attempted to run when officers apprehended him, police said.

After being taken to the ground, Lane refused to comply by laying on his hands which caused the arresting officers to use force, police said.

According to police, Lane required two sets of handcuffs due to his large stature.

Police said Lane is a known drug user and showed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Police said Lane spoke about "demons" when taken into custody and was in reference to the complaint filed by Robert Packer Hospital, which came after Lane delivered a graphic note to the facility.

After reviewing security footage, Lane arrived at the department and was messing with the flag pole, then pulled the handle off the door before throwing it at the glass door, police said.

Lane was charged with institutional vandalism, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and public intoxication.

Lane was remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

He will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 21 for his preliminary hearing.
