Burglary
SHAMOKIN - William Vantrieste, 19, whose last known address is in New Jersey, was charged by Patrolman Scott Weaver with felonies of burglary and criminal trespass after being found shortly after 1 p.m. Monday in an apartment in the 100 block of East Independence Street.
Police said Vantrieste is accused of breaking into the apartment by damaging a door jam. He was found sleeping in the vacant apartment by building supervisor Richard Jilinski, who reported the incident to police.
Vantrieste told police he recently came to Shamokin on a bus from southern New Jersey.
He was arraigned by video at about 4 p.m. Monday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and committed to Montour County Prison in Danville in lieu of $7,500 cash bail.
Assisting Weaver at the scene were Chief of Police Darwin Tobias III, Patrolman Raymond Siko II and Coal Township Patrolman Jason Adams.
Drug charges
COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Raymond Siko II has charged Michael J. Acevedo, 51, of 1627 W. Willow St., Coal Township, with felonies of possession with intent to deliver heroin and criminal use of a communication facility and misdemeanors of possession of drug paraphernalia and restrictions on alcoholic beverages relating to a March 24 drug transaction in the doorway area at Snappers Bar at Shamokin and Spurzheim streets.
Acevedo is accused of possessing 11 heroin packets with the intent to sell them for $170 to a confidential informant at 5:30 p.m.
Acevedo was arraigned at 9:10 p.m. Monday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and committed to Snyder County Prison in lieu of $15,000 cash bail.
Sayre man charged with drug, paraphernalia possession
Patrick Joseph Henderson, 24, of Sayre received several charges following a traffic stop conducted by Sayre Borough Police on April 13, Sayre police said.
According to police, Henderson was stopped after failing to stop at a stop sign.
Police said Henderson had several hypodermic needles on the passenger seat of his vehicle.
Henderson had his 18-month-old child in the backseat of the vehicle as well, police said.
After taking Henderson into custody, police searched his apartment where they found a green leafy substance, which tested positive for marijuana, a bent metal spoon, a glass pipe, and several plastic and glassine baggies police said.
Henderson was charged with drug and paraphernalia possession, failure to obey stop signs, driving with an expired registration, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Henderson was remanded to Bradford County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
He will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 28 for his preliminary hearing.
DUI charges
The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Amber Lynn Santo, 31, of Rome, by Athens Township Police, on March 29, on Front Street in Athens Township. Santo was also charged with driving with a suspended license. A blood alcohol test later revealed Santo's blood alcohol content was .149 percent on the day of her arrest. Santo has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 8 for her preliminary hearing.
Lance Lee Staples, 36, of Athens, by Athens Township Police, on April 11, on Wolcott Hollow Road in Athens Township. Staples was also charged with careless driving and failure to use turn signals. Staples later refused to submit to a blood alcohol test to determine his blood alcohol content. Staples has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 8 for his preliminary hearing.
OD wasn't at Pregnancy Care Center
COAL TOWNSHIP - Courtney Marie Tongel, 20, of Newark, N.J., was charged by Coal Township police with possession of Spice and possession of drug paraphernalia involving a drug overdose at a maternity home known as the Pinnacle Center, 1605 W. Lynn St., April 21, 2014.
It was mistakenly reported in Tuesday's edition that the offense occurred at the Pregnancy Care Center, which is located in Shamokin. Tongel never lived at the Pregnancy Care Center, which doesn't accept residents.
SHAMOKIN - Three defendants pleaded guilty to criminal charges Tuesday and were ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay fines and costs.
- Michael J. Shingara, 21, of 555 N. Second St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year.
He was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II after being found with three syringes March 2 at his residence.
- Madlyne Kozlowski, 18, of 1420 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year.
Kozlowski was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Jason Adams with possessing a syringe and five empty heroin packets in the 900 block of West Mulberry Street March 9.
- Dane Earl Albertson, 28, of 3 Albertson Road, Orangeville, pleaded guilty to harassment and was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs. An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn.
Albertson was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Chad Yoder with striking his girlfriend in the mouth, causing her lip to swell and bleed, April 2 at 217 Third St., Ranshaw.
Albertson also smashed the phone of another woman at the scene to prevent her from calling police, then left the residence before officers arrived, Yoder said.

Pill bust
ASHLAND - A Pottsville woman accused of selling prescription pain pills to an undercover police officer was arrested Tuesday.
Karen Krainik, 43, of 618 Mahantongo St., was jailed at Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, after she was unable to post $25,000 cash bail. She was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua, on two felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance, two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, a felony count of criminal use of a communication facility, and misdemeanor counts of misbranding a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a criminal complaint, Krainik sold 60 oxycodone pills totaling $1,020 to the officer about 2:20 p.m. The buy was arranged through a confidential informant. Police said an additional 10 pills were sold for $150 to another male, later identified as Andrew Grosser. Krainik allegedly used a cell phone to call the male to the scene.
The incident occurred at a borough residence. Grosser was taken into custody at Turkey Hill on Centre Street, and charges are pending. Police initiated a vehicle stop on Krainik and took her into custody at Ninth and Centre streets. She was allegedly in possession of a pill grinder and hollow pens used to snort powder.
The arrest was conducted by members of the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force. Charges were filed by Ashland Patrolman Daniel Weikel III and task force agent Cynthia Shpakovsky.
Walker struck
HAMILTON - Police are seeking information on the driver of a pickup truck that struck a pedestrian about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Upper Augusta Township and fled the scene.
According to state police at Stonington, Jessica R. Rebuck, 33, of Williamsport, was walking north along the berm on Route 890 near Cider Press Road, about 1/2 mile south of Route 61, when the pickup's passenger-side mirror struck her left arm and shoulder. Impact caused the mirror to break from the pickup, which was last seen traveling north on Route 890. Rebuck suffered a moderate injury.

COAL TOWNSHIP - A Jitterbug cell phone was found near the Ferndale baseball fields about 8 a.m. Wednesday. The owner can claim the cell phone by contacting the Coal Township Police Department at 570-644-0333.
Strikes pole
SUNBURY - A Danville man escaped injury following a one-vehicle wreck that ended with his vehicle upside down in a small stream about 5:25 p.m. Tuesday in Upper Augusta Township, according to state police at Stonington.
Police say Jonathan M. Mitchell II, 34, was driving a 2001 Toyota Camry west on Mile Post Road near Renn's Road, about one mile north of Sunbury, when the vehicle drifted across the oncoming lane and struck a utility pole. The vehicle continued down an embankment before rolling over. Impact of the crash caused downed power lines.
According to police, it's unknown why Mitchell's vehicle drifted off the roadway. He was cited for violating the traffic code, driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Pistol stolen
SNYDERTOWN - Michael Morgan, of 45 S. Smith Road, Danville, about one mile northeast of Snydertown, reported to state police at Stonington that someone broke into his home between 7 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. Monday and stole a Smith & Wesson pistol. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-286-5601.
School search
SUNBURY - No illegal contraband was found inside lockers of the Shikellamy Middle/High School during a search Wednesday, according to Sunbury police.
The building was locked down for more than one hour while seven K-9 units searched the building. It was the first locker search at the schools in more than five years; however, police Chief Brad Hare said it won't be the last.
Woman charged with harassment
Andrea Ariel Smith, 24, of Troy was charged with harassment following an incident that took place at 7:20 p.m. April 8 on Leona Road in Springfield Township, said state police at Towanda.
Police said Smith and the victim in the incident, Anna Mae Jaeckel, 40, no address given, had a verbal argument regarding rent money. During the argument, Smith shoved Jaeckel with both hands, police said.
People charged with simple assault
State police at Towanda said a 33-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man, whom they did not identify, were charged with simple assault following a domestic dispute that occurred at 11:50 p.m. April 8 in the 1000 block of East Canton Street in Granville Township.
Police said the two people got into a verbal argument and a physical altercation, causing minor physical injury. Police did not specify who was injured.
Person injured
State police at Towanda said Danielle M. Pedrick, 37, of Elmira, N.Y., had a moderate injury in a one-vehicle crash that took place at 7 a.m. April 8 on Route 14 in South Creek Township.
According to police, Pedrick was traveling south in a Ford Explorer and lost control of her vehicle for unknown reasons, traveled across the northbound lane and drove into the east roadside ditch, hitting an embankment with the driver side door. Then, it spun approximately 180 degrees, hitting the same embankment with the passenger side rear quarter panel, and rolled backwards, coming to final rest in the northbound lane, facing northeast, police said. Police said the driver sustained a moderate injury to the left and right arms and was transported to Arnot Hospital by Ridgebury EMS.
She was charged with a violation of "driving at safe speed," police said.
Crash reported
State police at Towanda said a one-vehicle crash took place at 11:40 a.m. March 20 on Route 14 in Canton Township.
Police said a 36-year-old Wysox man was traveling south on Route 14 and when negotiating a right curve, lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason. Police said it traveled to the northbound shoulder and rolled over into a small embankment and came to final rest on the northbound shoulder of Route 14 on its driver's side, facing south.
Police said it's unknown if the driver had any injury. He was charged with a violation of "roadways laned for traffic," police said.
Man charged with simple assault
State police at Towanda said Andrew Guy Osgood, 41, of Troy, was arrested at 7:35 p.m. April 8 on Leona Road in Springfield Township and charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, and harassment.
Police said he and a 24-year-old Troy resident, who was the victim, had a verbal argument regarding rent money. During the argument, Osgood made a threatening statement to the victim while holding a pocket knife in his hand, police said.
Police said charges were filed through District Court 42-3-01.
Criminal mischief reported
State police are investigating an incident of criminal mischief that occurred recently in Windham Township.
According to information provided by the police, an unknown person damaged the front passenger window of a 2006 Ford Taurus owned by Rick Loughin, 56, of Rome. The incident occurred between 10 a.m. and noon, according to police.
Woman suffers minor injury from accident
A Wyalusing woman suffered a minor injury recently when the car she was driving left the road and struck an embankment.
According to state police, April J. Vargason, 21, was driving a 2006 Pontiac Torrent south on Twin Cuts Road in Wyalusing Township around 4:05 a.m. on April 13. Police said Vargason lost control of her vehicle on a curve, causing it to leave the road, and strike an embankment with its front end. The car then overturned, before coming to rest on its roof.
Vargason, who was wearing her seatbelt when the accident occurred, was transported to Memorial Hospital for evaluation. Police said she will receive a citation for crossing the center line of traffic.
Man charged with criminal mischief
A man was cited by the state police recently on a charge of criminal mischief.
According to state police, Raymond House, 26, no address given, was accused of the above offense on April 13. Around 11:30 p.m. that day, the report continued, House is reported to have thrown a padlock through the windshield of a vehicle owned by an unnamed 40-year-old man. Police said the incident occurred in the 7000 block of state Route 706 in Stevens Township.
One hurt in crash
One person was taken to the hospital recently, following a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 187 in Rome Borough.
According to state police, that accident occurred around 9:55 a.m. on March 27. State police said the accident occurred when a 2003 Dodge Durango operated by Mitchel E. McPhillips, 21, of Barton, N.Y., struck the rear of a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by Heather M. Barrett, 40, of Rome. Police said Barrett had stopped her vehicle and was in the process of making a left turn onto Bliss Road. Upon impact, the report continued, the Trailblazer was pushed across the road and in the process struck the front end of a 2008 GMC Yukon operated by Kristin A. Shores, 26, of Towanda, who was traveling north on Route 187 at the time.
Barrett was transported by HOPS EMS to Memorial Hospital in Towanda for evaluation. Police said all passengers and drivers involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts when it occurred. All vehicles were towed from the scene. Police said McPhillips will be charged with following too closely and operating a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
Contractor faces theft charge
State police reported recently filing a theft charge against a contractor from Moosic on allegations he failed to return $30,000 to a client.
According to information provided by the state police, David D. Valenti, 62, owner of Wyoming Homes Inc., has been charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition. The charge against Valenti stems from an incident that occurred on July 19, 2011.
On that date, the report continued, an unnamed Wysox man entered into a contract with Valenti and Wyoming Homes to have a modular home installed on his property in Wysox. Total purchase price of the home was $59,600, and the man provided Wyoming Homes with a down payment of $30,000. However, due to the section of property being zoned for commercial use only, the man was not able to have the modular home installed on the property.
As a result, the installation was canceled, and the man requested a refund of $30,000 from Wyoming Homes, less any expenses incurred by the company. But as of April 2015 the man has not received any portion of the $30,000 from Valenti or Wyoming Homes, according to the report.
Police indicated they are also charging Valenti with receiving stolen property. Both charges are being graded as third-degree felonies, police said.
Man charged with burglary
A Corning, N.Y. man was cited by state police recently on a charge of burglary.
According to state police, James Frank Zuke, 46, is accused of illegally entering Jack Williams Garage around 6 p.m. on April 12. Once inside, the report continued, Zuke took two checks and left the premises.
Zuke was found nearby and taken into custody. State police said Zuke was arraigned on burglary, theft, and other charges, and then incarcerated in the Bradford County jail.
Store burglarized
State police are investigating a break-in that occurred recently at Miller's Hardware in Dushore.
The incident occurred between 4:45 p.m. on April 8 and 8 a.m. on April 8. Police said the burglars stole several rolls of electric wire as well as an unspecified amount of money. Anyone with information about the incident is requested to contact the state police at (570) 946-4610.
Tires stolen
State police are looking for the perpetrators who recently stole four tires from a private business in Cherry Township, Sullivan County.
State police reported that the incident occurred between 12:01 and 11 a.m. on April 8. The perpetrators removed four Goodyear Wrangler MTR tires with Kevlar sidewalls from a storage trailer at Steve O's Garage on U.S. Route 220. Anyone with information regarding the investigation is requested to contact the state police at (570) 946-4610.
Dollar General store cited for false alarm
A business in Wysox Township was cited by state police recently for "control of alarm devices and automatic dialing services."
According to state police, the charge was filed against Dollar General after police responded to a commercial burglar alarm going off around 7:28 a.m. on April 9. Upon arrival, state police reported, they determined that it was a false alarm. State police said the charge was filed because it was determined that this was the sixth consecutive false alarm that occurred at the Dollar General store within a consecutive 12-month period.
Two charged with criminal trespass
A charge of criminal trespass was recently filed against two individuals by the state police.
According to the report, Kalob Joseph Benjamin Fenton, 18, of Towanda, and an unnamed 17-year-old male juvenile were both cited for the above offense following an incident that occurred around 2:14 p.m. on April 9. On that date, the report continued, both individuals were accused of trespassing on railroad property in Wysox Township, owned by Lehigh Railway.
Theft from vehicle occurs
State police are investigating the theft from a business vehicle that occurred recently in North Towanda Township.
According to police, perpetrators stole several items from a truck owned by Williams Lubricants Inc. of North Towanda. Police said the incident occurred between 9 p.m. on April 9 and 6 a.m. on April 10.
Man charged with aggravated indecent assault
A Granville Summit man was arrested by state police recently on a charge of aggravated indecent assault.
According to state police, Daniel Charles Cole, 52, was cited for the above offense following an incident that occurred on March 19 in Athens Township. Cole is accused of touching a girl who is under 10 years old in an inappropriate manner while in his vehicle. Cole was arrested and later incarcerated at the Bradford County jail.
Motel burglarized
State police are investigating a burglary that recently occurred at Crystal Springs Motel in North Towanda Township.
According to police, the incident occurred on March 19, around 11:40 p.m. Perpetrators forced their way into the motel office and removed $588 in cash. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the state police at (570) 265-2186.
Furniture stolen
Several pieces of furniture were reported stolen recently from a private residence in Eagles Mere Borough, Sullivan County.
According to state police, the incident occurred between 9 p.m. on April 11 and 10 a.m. on April 13. Police said perpetrators stole the furniture from a large upstairs porch on the east side of the residence owned by Martin Milligan, 60, of Westport, Conn. Among the items stolen included a blue and white fabric couch, a yellow flower-printed couch, a yellow flower-print carpet, a blue and white carpet, two fabric blue and white swivel chairs, and two glass-and-brass end tables.

Rubbish scattered
A recent incident of scattering rubbish was reported in Monroe Township.
According to state police, the incident occurred around 11:59 a.m. on April 13. Ronald Edward Judd, 52, of Florida, reported that someone threw a tire and a mailbox on his property on Stoney Lane.
Police said they have no suspects at this time.
Gasoline stolen
State police are looking for the thieves who stole over 100 gallons of gasoline from a private pump owned by Forks Township.
According to police, the incident occurred between 2 p.m. on April 10 and 6 a.m. on April 13. Perpetrators damaged the gas pump located at the Forks Township building on Warburton Hill Road, allowing them to steal the gasoline. Police said the thieves also stole a Moultrie D5 Game Cam from the scene. Anyone with information about the incident is requested to contact the state police at Laporte at (570) 946-4610.
DUI
The following people were arrested in Bradford County recently for driving while under the influence:
James Steven Kithcart Jr., 27, of Wysox, has also been charged by Towanda police with failure to yield to a stop sign; driving on the wrong side of the road; and careless driving. Kithcart was charged around 2:35 a.m. on March 14, following a traffic stop at the Dandy Mini Mart in Wysox. After being taken into custody, Kithcart was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Kithcart's blood alcohol content was .188 percent on the day of his arrest. Kithcart has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on May 22.
Thomas Grant Gross, 49, of Towanda, has also been charged by borough police with careless driving; and failure to yield to a stop sign. Gross was charged around 1:54 a.m. on March 22, following a vehicle stop on Main Street. After being taken into custody, Gross was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Gross' blood alcohol content was .129 percent on the day of his arrest. Gross has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on May 22.
Kenneth Homet Howard, 54, of Wyalusing, has also been charged by state police with careless driving; and driving on the wrong side of the road. Howard was charged following a traffic stop around 5:50 p.m. on March 19. After being taken into custody, Howard was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Howard's blood alcohol content was .126 percent on the day of his arrest. Howard has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on April 24.
William Daniel Cassellbury, 54, of Towanda, has also been charged by state police with driving on the wrong side of the road; and careless driving. Cassellbury was charged following a traffic stop around 11:34 p.m. on March 14 at Beers Tractor Sales on U.S. Route 6 in Wysox Township. After being taken into custody, Cassellbury was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Cassellbury's blood alcohol content was .239 percent on the day of his arrest. Cassellbury has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on April 24.
Elizabeth Rae Benjamin, 29, of Wysox, has also been charged by state police with driving on the wrong side of the road; operating a vehicle at an unsafe speed; careless driving; general lighting requirements; and operating a vehicle without a certificate of inspection. Benjamin was charged following a traffic stop at 12:45 a.m. on March 14. After being taken into custody, Benjamin was transported by the state police to Memorial Hospital in Towanda where she agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Benjamin's blood alcohol content was .096 percent on the day of her arrest. Benjamin has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on April 24.
Helen Elizabeth Barbey, 58, of Towanda has also been charged by borough police with windshield obstructions and wipers; careless driving; driving the wrong way down a one-way street; and failing to yield the right-of-way. Barbey was charged following a traffic stop on March 13 conducted by Towanda police on Main Street. After being taken into custody, Barbey was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda. Barbey's preliminary has been scheduled for May 8 before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark.
Hit and run
COAL TOWNSHIP - John Fox, 35, of Coal Township, was cited by Coal Township police for a hit-and-run accident that occurred at around 3:25 a.m. Thursday at Cedar and Spruce streets.
Police said Fox was driving a 1998 Ford Mustang when he struck a legally parked Ford F-250 owned by GM McCrossin Inc., of Bellefonte. Fox also failed to stop at the scene, police said.
No injuries were reported in the accident.

Athens man charged with paraphernalia possession
Scott Joe Morley, 28, of Athens was charged with drug paraphernalia possession by Athens Township Police after a family member notified police of Morley's drug use, Athens police said.
The incident took place on Aug. 4, 2014 at a Wolcott Hollow residence where police found Morley, who was under the influence, and a syringe used to inject heroin, police said.
Morley told police he didn't know why he used heroin, police said.
Police advised Morley to seek treatment for his addiction and Morley agreed to do so, police said.
Morley has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 19 for his preliminary hearing.
Milan woman charged with trespassing at Walmart
Athens Township Police said Angelina Rashele Hilton, 20, of Milan, was charged with defiant trespassing at the Elmira Street Walmart in Sayre after being told she was not permitted in the store, Athens police said.
On April 15, police responded to Walmart after being notified that Hilton was in the store, police said.
Walmart's Asset Protection Associate told police Hilton was barred from the store after a previous retail theft case, police said.
Hilton has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 19 for her preliminary hearing.
Break-in reported at Troy produce stand
Someone broke into Bristol's Produce Stand sometime between April 4-11 at 15 South Railroad St. in Troy, according to Troy Borough Police.
Police said nothing was taken, but there was damage in the amount of $300 to $400. An investigation is ongoing, police said.
Man charged with theft of car batteries
Killian Jacob Frey, 19, of Canton, faces a preliminary hearing May 13 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy for a charge related to a theft that took place sometime between Sept. 5-6 at the Canton Auto Body Scrap Yard in Canton Township, according to court papers.
The papers note that Frey is charged with theft by unlawful or taking disposition for the theft of at least 16 used car batteries belonging to Thomas May, no age or address given.
Wilcox said Frey was sent a summons by certified mail.
DUI charges
The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Rachael Fay Satterly, 22, of Sayre, by Athens Borough Police, on March 28, on West Pine Street in Athens Borough. Satterly was also charged with careless driving and driving on the wrong side of the road. Satterly was issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 8 for her preliminary hearing.
Shannon Lee Cornish, 38, of Sayre, by Athens Borough Police, on April 3, on U.S. Route 220 in Athens Borough. Cornish was also charged with failure to use turn signals, failure to obey traffic lanes, and driving on the wrong side of the road. Cornish later refused to submit to a blood test to determine her blood alcohol content. Cornish has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 8 for her preliminary hearing.
Dustin A. Root, 26, of Sayre, by Athens Township Police, on April 5, on West Lockhart Street in Athens Township. Root was also charged with driving without a valid license. A blood alcohol test later revealed Root's blood alcohol content to be .25 percent on the day of his arrest. Root has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 22 for his preliminary hearing.

Aggravated assault
KULPMONT - A borough man was charged with assault after biting an emergency medical technician during a Feb. 23 emergency at 1560 Chestnut St.
Kulpmont Police Chief Michael Pitcavage reported in court documents that police were called to a home to assist paramedics and found Kyler S. Swatsky, 20, of 701 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, lying on a bed semi-responsive and bleeding from the nose and mouth.
When EMTs tried to help Swatsky, he became combative. Once handcuffed, Swatsky allegedly bit EMT Donald Kizer in the bicep, causing bruising and slight bleeding. Swatsky later allegedly told police he was under the influence of a controlled substance.
Swatsky was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. He was arraigned Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and released on $10,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 22.
Car theft
MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police charged Damion C. Emburg, 18, of 40 S. Vine St., Mount Carmel, with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, theft by deception, and unauthorized use of an automobile for allegedly taking a neighbor's car March 28.
Police said Emburg got the keys of a vehicle owned by Anna Augustine, of South Vine Street, under the guise of cleaning off her vehicle and parking spot after a snow storm. As police were conducting their investigation, Emburg pulled up in the vehicle and returned it, telling police he took the vehicle to pick up a friend up who needed a ride. The friend told police he did not call Emburg for the ride, saying that Emburg showed up in Shamokin driving the vehicle and took the friend to a local fast food place.
Emburg was released on $15,000 bail and a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, will be held April 22.
DUI
MERRIAM - James A. Fetterolf, 26, of 534 W. Second St., Mount Carmel, was charged with driving under the influence of a combination of drugs following the investigation into an accident on the Merriam Mountain March 7.
Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Kelly Campbell reported in court documents Fetterolf appeared to be under the influence after the accident and failed field sobriety tests. After being taken into custody, Fetterolf admitted to ingesting heroin the night before and that morning and bath salts that afternoon.
In addition, Fetterolf was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving on roadways laned for traffic, careless driving and failure to give immediate notice of accident to police. A preliminary hearing will be held May 6 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Police Briefs
Siding damaged in Smithfield
Towanda state police said on April 11 at about 9 p.m., two juveniles and one adult male damaged the siding of 54-year-old Matthew Delauro's residence on Water Street in Smithfield Township.
Police said the males were throwing paintballs at one another at the neighboring residence which led to the damage.
Delauro decided not to press charges against the males, police said.
Child endangered in Athens Township
A 4-year-old girl was left alone with a Tier 3 Sexual Offender on March 19 between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., Towanda state police said.
According to police, the 26-year-old male suspect left the child alone with the sex offender and police are investigating the incident.
DUI crash occurs in Sheshequin
Jonathan Hutchins, 20, of Waverly, crashed a vehicle on Sheshequin Road on April 1 at about 8:30 p.m. after driving under the influence of alcohol, Towanda state police said.
Police said Hutchins lost control of the vehicle and subsequently struck a guard rail and two trees.
DUI charges filed
Becca Louise Morgan, 23, of Troy, is accused in a DUI incident that took place at 8:02 p.m. March 28 on Evans Road, just north of the intersection with State Route 514, in Granville Township, said state police at Towanda.
While on patrol, Trooper William McDermott observed a 2003 Ford Taurus stopped on the travel lane of Evans Road in Granville Township. He saw the operator of the vehicle seated in the driver's seat, with the engine running, the headlamps illuminated, and the hazard lamps activated. Upon further investigation, the operator displayed several indicators of intoxication/impairment and was determined to be driving under the influence, police said.
Police said charges were filed on Morgan through District Court 42-3-01.
Man suffers minor injury
State police at Towanda said Glenn E. Guthrie III, 31, of Smithfield, had a minor injury in a crash that took place at 3:20 a.m. April 7 on Route 6 in Burlington Township.
According to police, the crash occurred as he was traveling east along Route 6 and for an unknown reason, he lost control of his Freightliner. Police said it struck a guardrail and a street sign before traveling down an embankment and striking multiple trees before coming to final rest.
Police said he was charged with a violation of "roadways laned for traffic."
Criminal mischief occurs in Franklin Twp.
Sometime between April 3 and April 10, someone using a motor vehicle tore up the lawn of a 71-year-old Franklin Township resident on Mountain Road, police said.

Towanda man charged with criminal mischief
On Wednesday, 25-year-old Francis Eugene McKean of Towanda kicked in the door of a residence in Wysox Township, according to the state police at Towanda.
He kicked in the door because 21-year-old Sarah Lee McKean, who lives in the residence, refused to answer the door, police said.
As a result of this incident, there was damage to the door frame, and Francis McKean is being charged with criminal mischief, police said.
Wysox man cited for disorderly conduct
Joshua Marquise Coley, 23, of Wysox has been cited for the summary offense of disorderly conduct following an incident on Wednesday in Wysox Township, police said.
During the incident, Coley made several threats to 26-year-old Erma Louise McKean of Wysox in a public area, according to the state police at Towanda.
Monroeton male uninjured in a crash
Markesh T. Woleslagle, 20, of Monroeton was uninjured Tuesday when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident on state Route 87 in Washington Township, Wyoming County, state police said.
Woleslagle was traveling south on Route 87 at 10:15 a.m. when his vehicle crossed the northbound lane and struck a drainage ditch, state police at Tunkhannock said.

Kimberly Morse, 28, Monroeton, Pa., was sentenced to Probation supervision for a term of 12 months, fines, costs, restitution of $150.00 fines, court costs, and restitution of $330.00, for the offense of Access Device Fraud, a misdemeanor of the first degree. None injured in Ulster crash
A driver fell asleep at the wheel on April 14 on U.S. Route 220 in Ulster Township, causing an accident with another vehicle, according to Towanda state police.
Brad D. Fuller, 23, of Waverly, fell asleep while driving a 1998 Mazda B3000 on Route 220, police said.
After falling asleep, the vehicle struck a 2009 Volkswagen Passat driven by 50-year-old Robert A. Jones of New Albany on the front passenger side, according to police.
Neither Fuller or Jones were injured, but Jones was taken to Towanda Memorial Hospital for precautionary measures, police said.
Police said Huckles Garage towed both vehicles from the scene.
Fuller was cited for careless driving.
Towanda man charged with harassment
Towanda state police said Kevin Clifton Sorensen, 50, of Towanda, harassed his neighbor on April 15.
At about 5 p.m. on said date, police said Sorensen verbally harassed his neighbor while the neighbor was doing yardwork.
Theft from vehicle in Litchfield
Between 9:30 p.m. April 17 and 1 a.m. April 18, Towanda state police said unknown actor(s) stole money from a glove box in a car on Snow Road in Litchfield.
According to police, $260 was taken from the glove box.

Woman charged with stalking in Sayre
Sayre Borough Police said Marie Renee Stedge, 19, of Erin, N.Y., was charged with stalking and harassment after several instances of harassment.
According to police, Stedge was stalking and harassing a woman after a physical altercation between the two that took place several weeks ago.
Since the altercation, police said Stedge would wait in the parking lot of the victim's workplace, make gestures to the victim, follow the victim, and harass the victim verbally.
Police spoke with Stedge at her father's residence in Waverly where she denied being in the parking lot of the victim's workplace, but Stedge's brother told police they were in the parking lot of the victim's workplace, police said.
Stedge has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 26 for her preliminary hearing.
Garbage, coyote carcasses dumped in Sheshequin
Towanda state police said several bags of garbage and three skinned coyote carcasses were dumped over an embankment in Creed Road in Sheshequin Township on April 18 at about 2:35 p.m.

Burglary occurs in Wysox Twp.
State police said they are investigating a burglary at a residential property on state Route 187 in Wysox Township.
The property belongs to Raymond E. McGuire, 49, of Wysox, police said.
Stolen during the burglary were various tools, including wrenches, sockets, impact guns, die grinders and saws, according to the state police.
The burglary occurred sometime between Feb. 16 and April 18, police said.

Burglary occurs in Franklin Twp.
State police said they investigating a recent burglary that occurred at a property on Mountain Road in Franklin Township.
The property is owned by Merlin J. Horn of Franklin Township, police said.
Sometime between April 3 and April 10, someone forced entry to commit the burglary, according to the state police at Towanda.
DUI charges
The following people were recently charged with driving while under
the influence in Bradford County:
Cambria Ashley Durfee, 30, of Athens, by Athens Borough Police, on April 19, on Spruce Street in Athens Borough. Durfee was also charged with disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, and driving without a valid inspection. Durfee was remanded to Bradford County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail. Durfee will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 28 for her preliminary hearing.
Hindering police
COAL TOWNSHIP - Samuel P. Peters was charged Wednesday by Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. with a misdemeanor count of hindering apprehension. Peters is accused of helping two people elude probation officers by giving them a ride in the Big Mountain area in February 2014.
Jacob Snyder and Damian Dietrich were involved in a vehicle pursuit with Shamokin police officers near the Raspberry Hill housing complex. The two drove into the woods and abandoned the vehicle. Police said they called Peters for a ride, and that he picked them up somewhere on Big Mountain and drove them to Gowen City.
Fugitive caught
SHAMOKIN - A person wanted on kidnapping charges in Indiana was taken into custody by Shamokin City Police following a traffic stop at 12:49 a.m. Saturday in the area of Market and Arch streets.
According to court documents filed by Shamokin City Police chief Darwin Tobias III, Gabrielle K. Derr, 20, of 322 E. Sunbury St., Apt. 6, Shamokin, was stopped for an illegal left turn at the intersection of Independence and Market streets. After checking her license, it was determined Derr is wanted in Indianapolis, Ind., for charges of kidnapping, criminal confinement and battery resulting in serious bodily injury.
She was taken into custody on the warrant and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin, Sunday afternoon. She is awaiting extradition.
Simple assault
COAL TOWNSHIP - A township man was committed to prison Sunday after a domestic assault on West Arch Street at 11:09 a.m.
Coal Township Police charged Gary Dombroski Jr., 29, of 1115 W. Arch St., with simple assault and harassment after allegedly hitting his father with a pipe and lunging at his mother and throwing her to the floor.
Dombroski told police that when he came downstairs that morning, he was told he wasn't getting any money, claiming his parents were the aggressors, not him.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin, and placed in Snyder County Prison on $5,000 cash bail.
Scream and yell
SHAMOKIN - Vanessa S. Thorpe, 33, and Josiah LaRose, 21, both of 213 N. Vine St., Shamokin, were cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for disorderly conduct. The pair were allegedly screaming and yelling in the 800 block of East Webster Street about 1 a.m. Sunday.
Underage drinking
SHAMOKIN - Three males were cited for underage drinking Saturday.
Edward N. Hancock III, 19, of 5 W. Commerce St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for an incident about 10:50 p.m. in the 100 block of West Commerce Street.
Matthew Dewitt Jr., 20, of 404 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Bryan Primerano for an incident about 12:50 a.m. at Market and Arch streets.
Matthew T. Derk, 19, of 322 E. Sunbury St., Apt. 6, Shamokin, was cited by Siko for an incident about 12:50 a.m. at 140 W. Lincoln St., Shamokin. Derk also was issued a traffic citation for a minor driving with alcohol in their system by Siko about 2:36 a.m. at Sunbury and Rock streets.
Curfew violations
SHAMOKIN - Two Sunbury juveniles were cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for violating the city's 11 p.m. curfew for minors. The 15-year-old and 16-year-old males were observed on Sunbury Street near Ninth Street about 1:25 a.m. Sunday.
Head-on crash
HERNDON - Anita R. Sardo, 48, of Dornsife, was issued a traffic citation following a head-on crash Thursday in Jackson Township.
State police at Stonington said Sardo drove a 2008 Lincoln MKZ into the oncoming path of a 2013 Dodge Dart as she attempted to turn left from southbound Route 147 onto the Herndon Bypass (Route 3006). The crash occurred about 4:30 p.m. about 1.5 miles north of Herndon.
Sardo's injuries were described by police as moderate. The Dart's driver, Kendel H. Shade, 43, of Elizabethville, suffered a minor injury, police said. Both were reportedly wearing seat belts, and were taken by Americus Ambulance to Sunbury Community Hospital.
Sardo was cited for making an improper left turn.
Two charged in assault
SHAMOKIN - A couple from Mount Carmel were charged with simple assault after the investigation into an April 4 fight at Seventh and Adams streets.
According to Shamokin City Police Patrolman William Zalinski, Samantha Dewald, 19, and Corey McAndrew, 26, both of 48 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, were involved in altercation with the victims, Amber Kehler and Ronald Nye. The victims told police that while they were stopped at a stop sign in the 500 block of South Seventh Street, a vehicle driven by Dewald pulled up behind them and McAndrew started yelling at them to get out of the way. Kehler and McAndrew engaged in a verbal altercation which prompted Dewald and McAndrew to leave their vehicles, pull Nye out of the vehicle and assault Kehler and Nye. Police allege McAndrew punched Nye in the face several times and bit his ring finger, while Dewald struck Kehler in the face and threw her to the ground.
Both were charged with simple assault, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct while McAndrew was also charged with disorderly conduct. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.
Camera stolen
SUNBURY - Scott Herb, 51, of 345 S. 10th St., Sunbury, told state police at Stonington a trail camera he installed in the woods off Bennick Road in Upper Augusta Township, about 3 miles northeast of Sunbury, was stolen between 10:30 a.m. March 20 and 10:30 a.m. April 6. Simple assault
SHAMOKIN - Raymond Burns, 54, of 122 E. Arch St., was charged with two counts of simple assault and a charge of harassment following an incident at 7:45 p.m. Sunday at his residence.
Police allege that Burns came home intoxicated and got into a fight with his wife before picking up his boot and throwing it at her, breaking a kitchen window. His wife, Melissa Burns, tried to flee, but Burns struck her several times, causing injuries to her hands as she defended herself. She got in her car and drove away, damaging their garage door before Burns grabbed a pair of hedge clippers and came at her, striking the car's mirror off. He fled the scene before behing apprehended a short time later.
Burns was arraigned Sunday evening before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and placed in Snyder County Prison on $5,000 cash bail.
Tools thieved
SUNBURY - Kristin Lee Markowski, 40, told state police at Stonington that tools were among items stolen from a garage at 810 Carroll Road in Rockefeller Township, about 4 miles east of Sunbury. The garage door was forced open between Oct. 1 and April 16. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-286-5601.
Break-in attempt
SUNBURY - State police at Stonington say someone attempted to break-in to a residence at 1767 Mile Hill Road in Upper Augusta Township between 4 p.m. April 4 and 5:30 p.m. April 11. Molding around the front and rear doors was damaged, but entry wasn't made. The property is owned by Danny Johnson, 42, and is located about 1.5 miles northeast of Sunbury. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-286-5601.
Pellets shot
MOUNT CARMEL - Charges are pending after pellets were shot into a borough home late Sunday night.
Multiple shots were fired shortly after 10 p.m. from a .22 caliber pellet rifle into the rear of 434 W. Second St. The glass on a rear door shattered and a hole was shot into another window, according to borough police.
The shots were reportedly fired from the second floor rear of an Olive Street residence. Two juveniles and an adult male, who police say were observed in the home, were later discovered in a backyard at 443 W. Third St.

Cabin break-in
LYKENS - Seven people are charged with criminal trespassing after state police said they broke into two cabins at 90 Camp St., Elizabethville.
Police said Tyler Steven Maurer, 19, of 509 Limekiln Road, Dalmatia; Austin Lee Kahler, 24, of 188 Simon Blvd., Elizabethville; Joshua James Han Smith, 21, of 203 Woodley Drive, Harrisburg; a 17-year-old male, of Lykens; Britan Xavier Williams, 20, of 118 Hill St., Gratz; Keaton Robert Leshko, 19, of 612 Center St., Millersburg; and a 16-year-old male, of Elizabethville, broke into two cabins owned by Denise Sites, 55, of Meyerstown, between 2 and 4 p.m. March 27.
In addition to trespassing, the suspects climbed on the roof tops of the cabins and damaged a screen porch, police said.
Barnesville man charged with public drunkenness, resisting arrest
Athens Township Police filed several charges against Wayne Edward Sitzer, 35, of Barnesville, Pa., following a series of events at about 7:28 p.m. on April 18, Athens police said.
According to police, an employee of Fine Wine and Good Spirits on Elmira Street in Sayre called police after Sitzer refused to leave the store.
Police said Sitzer left the store on a bike and he was found walking near Callear's BBQ.
After police recognized Sitzer as being intoxicated and attempted to put him in custody, Sitzer began resisting, police said.
After gaining control of Sitzer, police then found Sitzer's red back pack and mountain bike near Comfort Inn and Suites, police said.
Sitzer refused to submit to a blood test and became aggressive while at the police department, police said.
Police deployed a taser on Sitzer in order to get him into a holding cell as he resisted being placed in the cell, police said.
Sitzer will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 5 for his preliminary hearing.
Wysox man charged with DUI
Towanda state police said Steven Wayne Johnson, 42, of Wysox, was charged with DUI on March 13 at about 11:15 a.m., police said.
According to police, Johnson struck a parked vehicle at the Dandy Mini Mart in Rome while trying to negotiate a turn in the parking lot.
Police said Johnson was under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs.
Tools, chainsaw stolen from Laceyville home
According to Towanda state police, between April 4 and April 5, an unknown actor or actors gained unlawful access to a Spring Hill Road property.
Police said while on the property, the actor or actors stole a chainsaw and two boxes of tools.
Wyalusing man charged with DUI after sleeping in truck
Daryl J. Dieffenbach, 42, of Wyalusing, was charged with DUI by Towanda state police on April 19 at about 5:28 a.m., police said.
According to police, Dieffenbach was seen sleeping behind the wheel of his truck on U.S. Route 220 in Monroe Township.
Man charged with attempted burglary in Towanda
Brandon Philip Ropraz, 19, of Towanda is accused of recently trying to burglarize Strickland Beverage at 611 Main St., Towanda, police said.
At approximately 11:10 p.m. on April 9, Ropraz moved wooden pallets that were in front of a door at the rear of the business and then tried unsuccessfully to enter the business, police said.
Video surveillance cameras showed Ropraz casing the business on two separate occasions earlier on April 9, police said.
Ropraz was charged with attempted burglary and loitering and prowling at nighttime, Towanda police said.
Ropraz was arrested on April 10 and then arraigned by Wysox Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton.
Ropraz was sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.
Ropraz must attend a preliminary hearing in Towanda District Court today (April 22).
