Woman charged after choking juvenile
A Gillett woman was recently arrested by state police at Towanda after allegedly choking a juvenile.
According to state police, Katie Waite, 23, was charged with simple assault and harassment after allegedly choking a three-year-old boy sometime on July 5 or 6. Police said Waite left abrasion-type marks on the victim's neck. The victim was removed from the home, police said.
Waite was arraigned July 23 by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and released from the Bradford County Jail on non-monetary bail. Waite's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 13.
Man charged with public drunkenness
State police at Towanda recently arrested a Wysox man on a charge of public drunkenness.
According to state police, John D. Ackley, 32, is accused of acting "tumultuous" while under the influence of alcohol at about 1:35 a.m. July 24 at the Dandy Mini Mart in Ulster Township.
Teen cited in Terry Twp. crash
State police at Towanda recently investigated a one-car motor vehicle accident in Terry Township.
According to state police, at about 12:20 p.m., July 21, a 2000 Ford F-250 operated by a 17-year-old male was headed southbound on North Street when the driver lost control on a right curve. Police said the vehicle traveled in the eastern berm and struck a utility pole head-on, shearing it in half.
The unnamed driver was uninjured and wore a seatbelt, police said. Police cited him with speeding.
The vehicle was towed from the scene by Lambert's Towing, police said.
Flag removed
State police at Towanda are investigating the theft of a flag and flagpole from a Wyalusing Borough location.
According to police, an unknown actor or actors removed the unsecured flag and flagpole July 22 from a location in the 100 block of Church Street. No other items were reported stolen from the property, and no damage to the property occurred, police said.
