Two charged with theft

Two men were recently charged with theft by unlawful taking by Athens Township police following a Nov. 18 incident on Blue Spruce Lane.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Daniel Allen Labarr, 18, and Jason Michael White, 21, were each also charged with receiving stolen property.

Police said Labarr and White each took $100 from the purse of a female Blue Spruce Lane resident.

Labarr and White are each scheduled to appear Jan. 7 at preliminary hearings.

Three arrested in Waverly traffic stop

Waverly Village police recently arrested three people following a Nov. 23 traffic stop on Clark Street, according to information from the Waverly Police Department.

Police arrested Arthur Bidlack, 39, of Barton, and charged him with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating a vehicle with switched registration plates, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and operating a vehicle with insufficient plate lamps, police said. Bidlack was also found to have an outstanding warrant out of the Athens Township Police Department, according to police.

Bidlack was arraigned in village court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail without bail, according to police.

Police also arrested passengers Theresa Hayford, 49, and Jordan Sinsabaugh, 26, both of Waverly, after police said both were found to be in possession of bath salts.

Police charged Hayford with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Sinsabaugh was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Hayford and Sinsabaugh were both released and are scheduled to appear in Waverly Village court at a later date, police said.

Police investigate Canton accident

State police at Towanda recently investigated a two-car motor vehicle accident in Canton Township.

According to state police information, at about noon Nov. 21, a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am operated by Barbara A. Roupp, 78, of Canton, struck the rear of a 2001 Subaru Legacy waiting to make a left turn in the northbound lane of Route 14.

Police said the Subaru traveled across the southbound lane and struck a utility pole and tree.

Both Roupp and the driver of the Subaru, 19-year-old Karyn A. Owen of Canton, were transported by Western Alliance EMS to Troy Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Both operators wore seatbelts, police said.

Police cited Roupp for following too closely, according to police.

The Canton Volunteer Fire Department and Canton Auto and Body assisted police and EMS personnel at the scene, police said.

One cited in Sheshequin MVA

State police at Towanda recently investigated a one-car motor vehicle accident in Sheshequin Township.

According to information from state police, at about 5:40 p.m. Nov. 20, a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier operated by Dylan J. Gaitings, 17, of Sayre lost control while negotiating a sharp right-hand curve on North Rome Road. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a large ditch with its passenger side north of the roadway's intersection with Spaulding Hill Road, police said.

The impact dislodged the vehicle's passenger rear wheel assembly, police said.

Neither Gaitings nor a passenger, Noah S. Thomas, 19, of Athens, reported injuries at the scene, police said. Both men wore seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to police.

Police cited Gaitings for failure to stay in his lane of travel, according to police.
